The quasi-ternary Cu2Se–CdSe–In2Se3 system was studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction, and metallography. The phase diagrams of eight vertical sections, the isothermal section at 820 K and the liquidus surface projection were constructed. The liquidus consists of 11 fields of primary crystallization that are divided by 23 monovariant lines and 23 invariant points. The type and temperatures of the monovariant and invariant processes were determined. Two quaternary compounds, CuCd2InSe4 and CuCdIn10Se16.5, which melt congruently at 1283 and ∼1123 K, respectively, form in the system. CuCd2InSe4 crystallizes in the sphalerite structure and has a homogeneity region, which is localized along the quasi-binary CuInSe2–CdSe section. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The intermediate solid solution, abbreviated as the γ-phase, exists within the CuInSe2 –2CdTe system. It has a wide homogeneity range and can be considered as a continuous solid solution between the high-temperature (HT) modification of CuInSe2 and CdTe. Single crystals of the γ-phase are grown by a modified Bridgman method. Their crystal structure and electrical properties are studied. The γ-phase crystals crystallize in the cubic structure of zinc blende (space group ) and possess intrinsic p-type conductivity with hole mobilities up to 8.29cm2/Vs. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The CuInSe2–CdIn2Se4–In2Se3 part of the quasi-ternary Cu2Se–CdSe–In2Se3 system was investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction analysis. The phase diagrams of six vertical sections, the liquidus surface projection and isothermal section were constructed. The character and temperature of mono-variant and invariant processes of the In2Se3 reach part of the system were determined. The existence of a new quaternary Cu0.6Cd0.7In6Se10 phase which melts incongruently at 1118K was established. Its crystal structure (space group P m1, a =0.40498(2), c =3.2886(2)nm) was determined using X-ray powder diffraction. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The quasi-binary system AgIn5Se8–CdIn2Se4 was studied by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and microstructure observations. The 4T-polytype crystal structure of the AgIn5Se8 compound (space group , a =0.58086(2)nm, c =2.3275(1)nm) was determined using X-ray powder diffraction.
