1. Multimodal fusion model for diagnosing mild cognitive impairment in unilateral middle cerebral artery steno-occlusive disease

Abstract: ObjectivesTo propose a multimodal functional brain network (FBN) and structural brain network (SBN) topological feature fusion technique based on resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), 3D-T1-weighted imaging (3D-T1WI), and demographic characteristics to diagnose mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in patients with unilateral middle cerebral artery (MCA) steno-occlusive disease.MethodsThe performances of different algorithms on the MCI dataset were evaluated using 5-fold cross-validation. The diagnostic results of the multimodal performance were evaluated using t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE) analysis. The four-modal analysis method proposed in this study was applied to identify brain regions and connections associated with MCI, thus confirming its validity.ResultsBased on the fusion of the topological features of the multimodal FBN and SBN, the accuracy for the diagnosis of MCI in patients with unilateral MCA steno-occlusive disease reached 90.00%. The accuracy, recall, sensitivity, and F1-score were higher than those of the other methods, as was the diagnostic efficacy (AUC = 0.9149).ConclusionThe multimodal FBN and SBN topological feature fusion technique, which incorporates rs-fMRI, DTI, 3D-T1WI, and demographic characteristics, obtains the most discriminative features of MCI in patients with unilateral MCA steno-occlusive disease and can effectively identify disease-related brain areas and connections. Efficient automated diagnosis facilitates the early and accurate detection of MCI and timely intervention and treatment to delay or prevent disease progression.

Abstract: As Si electronics hits fundamental performance limits, oxide integration emerges as a solution to augment the next generation of electronic and optical devices. Specifically, oxide perovskites provide diverse functionalities with a potential to create, tune, and combine emergent phenomena at interfaces. High‐level crystalline order is needed to realize these functionalities, often achieved through epitaxy. However, large‐scale implementation in consumer devices faces challenges due to the need for high‐temperature deposition in complex vacuum systems. Herein, this challenge is addressed using atmospheric pressure spatial chemical vapor deposition, a thin‐film fabrication technique that can rapidly produce uniform films at sub‐400 °C temperatures under atmospheric conditions over ≈cm2 areas. Thus, the deposition of epitaxial perovskite tungsten trioxide, WO3, thin films is demonstrated at a rate of 5 nm min−2 on single‐crystal substrates at 350 °C in open‐air conditions enabling a high‐throughput process. The resulting films exhibit crystallographic and electronic properties comparable to vacuum‐based growth above 500 °C. The high‐quality epitaxy is attributed to the energetics of the exothermic decomposition reaction of the W[CO]6 precursors combined with the stabilization of a hot zone near the substrate surface. From this work, the way can be paved for low‐temperature atmospheric‐pressure epitaxy of a wide range of other perovskite thin films.

3. Integrating UPLC-Q-Orbitrap MS with serum pharmacochemistry network and experimental verification to explore the pharmacological mechanisms of Cynanchi stauntonii rhizoma et radix against sepsis-induced acute lung injury

Abstract: Introduction: Patients with sepsis are at an incremental risk of acute lung injury (ALI). Baiqian, also known as Cynanchi stauntonii rhizoma et radix (Csrer), has anti-inflammatory properties and is traditionally used to treat cough and phlegm. This study aimed to demonstrate the multicomponent, multitarget, and multi-pathway regulatory molecular mechanisms of Csrer in treating lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI.Methods: The bioactive components of Csrer were identified by ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography Q-Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-Orbitrap MS). Active targets predicted from PharmMapper. DrugBank, OMIM, TTD, and GeneCards were used to identify potential targets related to ALI. Intersection genes were identified for Csrer against ALI. The PPI network was analysed to identify prime targets. GO and KEGG analyses were performed. A drug–compound–target–pathway–disease network was constructed. Molecular docking and simulations evaluated the binding free energy between key proteins and active compounds. The protective effect and mechanism of Csrer in ALI were verified using an ALI model in mice. Western blot, Immunohistochemistry and TUNEL staining evaluated the mechanisms of the pulmonary protective effects of Csrer.Results: Forty-six bioactive components, one hundred and ninety-two potential cross-targets against ALI and ten core genes were identified. According to GO and KEGG analyses, the PI3K-Akt, apoptosis and p53 pathways are predominantly involved in the “Csrer–ALI” network. According to molecular docking and dynamics simulations, ten key genes were firmly bound by the principal active components of Csrer. The “Csrer–ALI” network was revealed to be mediated by the p53-mediated apoptosis and inflammatory pathways in animal experiments.Conclusion: Csrer is a reliable source for ALI treatment based on its practical components, potential targets and pathways.

4. Sharing or Hiding? Exploring the Influence of Social Cognition and Emotion on Employee Knowledge Behaviors within Enterprise Social Media

Abstract: As emerging knowledge management platforms, enterprise social media (ESM) provide an important way for employees to engage in knowledge sharing and information communication within their organization. However, the question of how to encourage employees to engage in continuous knowledge sharing rather than knowledge hiding on ESM has not received sufficient attention from scholars. In contrast to previous studies that focused on a single theory perspective and a single knowledge behavior, in this study, we took a user cognition and emotion perspective and constructed a mechanism model for the impact of knowledge sharing and knowledge hiding among employees on ESM based on social cognition theory and emotion as social information theory. A total of 240 valid questionnaires were collected and used to empirically test the model. The results indicate that reciprocity and outcome expectancy have a significant positive effect on employees’ knowledge-sharing behavior, while reciprocity and trust have a significant negative effect on employees’ knowledge-hiding behavior. Positive emotions play a positive (enhancing) moderating role on the path between outcome expectancy and knowledge-sharing behavior, while negative emotions play a negative (weakening) moderating role on the path between reciprocity and knowledge-hiding behavior, as well as between trust and knowledge-hiding behavior. By incorporating employee emotions into the framework of social cognition’s impact on employee knowledge behavior, this study enriches theories related to enterprise social media, knowledge management, and user behaviors. Our research findings have practical implications for guiding employees to engage in positive knowledge sharing and reducing knowledge hiding on enterprise social media.

5. Effects of dietary manganese supplementation on the growth performance, tissue manganese content and antioxidant capacity of coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) post-smolts

Abstract: A 10-week growth trial was carried out to study the impact of dietary manganese (Mn) level on growth, tissue Mn content and anti-oxidative capacity of coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) post-smolts (186.51 ± 1.43 g). Six iso-nitrogenous (42.40% Protein) and iso-lipidic (10.27% Lipid) purified diets based on casein-gelatin were formulated to contain varied graded (MnSO4·H2O as a Mn source) levels of 0.40, 9.50, 16.80, 25.80, 33.40 and 41.20 Mn mg/kg. Fish were reared in a freshwater flow-through rearing system and fed to apparent satiation 3 times daily. No significant effects were found on the survival rate, morphological indices, whole-body proximate composition (p > .05) among the groups. However, higher dietary Mn supplementation level than 25.80 mg/kg improved the growth performance, increased the deposition of Mn in whole-body and vertebral, improved hepatic digestive enzyme activity, enhanced anti-oxidative enzyme activities, and decreased the malondialdehyde content in liver and serum (p

6. Dietary Pyridoxine Requirements of Coho Salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) Post-Smolts

Abstract: A 10-week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the dietary pyridoxine requirements of coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) post-smolts with an initial mean body weight of 180.22 ± 0.41 g. Seven diets were prepared with gradient pyridoxine levels of 0.32, 1.25, 2.56, 4.08, 8.24, 16.02, and 32.32 mg/kg, respectively, and each diet was assigned to three replication groups of 10 fish. The results revealed that coho salmon fed the diet with pyridoxine supplementation gained more final body weight (FBW), specific growth rate (SGR), and better feed conversion ratio (FCR). FBW and SGR of the fish fed the diet with 8.24 mg/kg pyridoxine were significantly higher than those of the other groups (P0.05) significant impact on the whole-body composition including moisture, ash, crude lipid, and crude protein. The hepatic pyridoxine concentration, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities increased significantly with dietary pyridoxine levels increasing from 0.32 to 4.08 mg/kg (P0.05). The coho salmon fed the diet with 8.24 mg/kg pyridoxine achieved the maximum superoxide dismutase and catalase, as well as the minimum total cholesterol, triglyceride, and malondialdehyde. Broken line analysis of SGR, FCR, AST, and ALT activities reflected the optimal dietary pyridoxine requirements for coho salmon post-smolts from 3.92 to 7.08 mg/kg diet.

7. Maternal exposure to sunlight-irradiated graphene oxide induces neurodegeneration-like symptoms in zebrafish offspring through intergenerational translocation and genomic DNA methylation alterations

Abstract: The physiochemical properties of graphene oxide may be affected by sunlight irradiation. However, the underlying mechanisms that alter the properties and subsequent intergenerational effects are not sufficiently investigate. Epigenetics is an early sensitive marker for the intergenerational effects of nanomaterial exposure due to the epigenetic memory. In this study, we investigate changes in the physicochemical properties and the intergenerational effects of maternal exposure to simulated sunlight-irradiated polyethyleneimine-functionalized graphene oxide (SL-PEI-GO). Results show that the physicochemical properties of polyethyleneimine-functionalized graphene oxide (PEI-GO) can be altered significantly by the oxidation of carbon atoms with unpaired electrons present in the defects and on the edges of PEI-GO by sunlight. First, the positive charges, sharp edges, defects and disordered structures of SL-PEI-GO make it translocate from maternal zebrafish to offspring, thus catalyzing the production of reactive oxygen species and damaging mitochondria directly. In addition, changes in DNA methylation reduce the expression of protocadherin1a, protocadherin19 and cadherin4, thus destroying cell membrane integrity, cell adhesion and Ca2+ binding. The alteration of DNA methylation induced by maternal exposure activates the Ca2+-CaMKK-brsk2a pathway, which catalyzes the phosphorylation of Tau and eventually results in the appearance of neurodegeneration-like symptoms, including the loss of neurons and neurobehavioral disorders. This study demonstrates that maternal exposure to SL-PEI-GO induces clear neurodegeneration-like symptoms in offspring through both the intergenerational translocation of nanomaterials and differential DNA methylation. These findings may provide new insights into the health risks of nanomaterials altered by nature conditions.

8. Integrative transcriptomic analysis deciphering the role of rice bHLH transcription factor Os04g0301500 in mediating responses to biotic and abiotic stresses

Abstract: Understanding the signaling pathways activated in response to these combined stresses and their crosstalk is crucial to breeding crop varieties with dual or multiple tolerances. However, most studies to date have predominantly focused on individual stress factors, leaving a significant gap in understanding plant responses to combined biotic and abiotic stresses. The bHLH family plays a multifaceted regulatory role in plant response to both abiotic and biotic stresses. In order to comprehensively identify and analyze the bHLH gene family in rice, we identified putative OsbHLHs by multi-step homolog search, and phylogenic analysis, molecular weights, isoelectric points, conserved domain screening were processed using MEGAX version 10.2.6. Following, integrative transcriptome analysis using 6 RNA-seq data including Xoo infection, heat, and cold stress was processed. The results showed that 106 OsbHLHs were identified and clustered into 17 clades. Os04g0301500 and Os04g0489600 are potential negative regulators of Xoo resistance in rice. In addition, Os04g0301500 was involved in non-freezing temperatures (around 4°C) but not to 10°C cold stresses, suggesting a complex interplay with temperature signaling pathways. The study concludes that Os04g0301500 may play a crucial role in integrating biotic and abiotic stress responses in rice, potentially serving as a key regulator of plant resilience under changing environmental conditions, which could be important for further multiple stresses enhancement and molecular breeding through genetic engineering in rice.

Although drug therapy can effectively reduce blood pressure, obvious side effects were observed after long-term use. Dietary regulation is an important method to alleviate and assist the treatment of hypertension. Plant-derived antihypertensive peptides have attracted more and more attention of scientists worldwide because of their obvious efficacy, nature and non-toxic side effects. In view of the research progress of food field on plant-derived antihypertensive peptides in recent years, this paper summarizes the mechanism, preparation methods and efficacy evaluation methods of plant-derived antihypertensive peptides, and further focused on the research progress of antihypertensive peptides in plant-derived foods such as wheat, corn, soybean and rice. Abstract: Membrane technology for carbon capture is becoming increasingly attractive to combat the excessive greenhouse gas emitted into the atmosphere, which involves the benefits of cost-effectiveness, environmental-friendly, easy scalability, high energy efficiency, simplicity in design, etc. However, most state-of-the-art membrane materials suffer from either low CO2 permeability, low selectivity towards CO2 separation, poor resistance to plasticization, or inadequate long-term stability, rendering it still challenging to be upscaled to an industrial level. Therefore, the development of advanced membrane materials as well as a reasonable design of the membrane separation process is crucial and urgent for its real-life application in the future. This account reviews the details of some recent research progress in our group on carbon capture from different scenarios including post-combustion carbon capture, biogas upgrading and natural gas sweetening and hydrogen purification. Notably, considerable efforts have been invested in the development of some novel membrane materials in our group, such as facilitated transport membranes, carbon molecular sieving membranes, mixed matrix membranes, composite membranes, and poly(ionic liquids)-based membranes. Meanwhile, some studies focusing on the techno-economic feasibility analysis of membrane technology have also demonstrated its promising application on practical carbon capture.

Abstract: Abstract We study damping signatures at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a medium-baseline reactor neutrino oscillation experiment. These damping signatures are motivated by various new physics models, including quantum decoherence, ν 3 decay, neutrino absorption, and wave packet decoherence. The phenomenological effects of these models can be characterized by exponential damping factors at the probability level. We assess how well JUNO can constrain these damping parameters and how to disentangle these different damping signatures at JUNO. Compared to current experimental limits, JUNO can significantly improve the limits on τ 3/m 3 in the ν 3 decay model, the width of the neutrino wave packet σ x , and the intrinsic relative dispersion of neutrino momentum σ rel.

12. Inflammatory markers and the risk of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss: A Mendelian randomization study

Abstract: BackgroundObservational studies suggest that inflammatory markers may increase the risk of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL). However, the causal relationship between the two has not been established. We sought to assess the possible causal effect between several genetically predicted inflammatory markers and ISSHL by Mendelian random (MR) analysis.MethodsWe extracted single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with C-reactive protein (CRP), Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and fibrinogen from abstract data from the European Individual Large genome-wide association studies (GWAS). Genetic data for ISSHL were obtained from the FinnGen study (n = 196,592). Effect estimates were assessed using inverse variance weighting (IVW) as the primary method. Sensitivity analyses were performed using weighted median, MR-Egger, and MR-PRESSO to evaluate heterogeneity and pleiotropy.ResultsIn the random-effects IVW approach, there was a significant causal relationship between genetic susceptibility to CRP levels and ISSHL (OR = 1.23, 95% CI = 1.02–1.49, P = 0.03). In contrast, genetic TNF-α and fibrinogen were not risked factors for ISSHL (OR = 1.14, 95% CI = 0.88–1.49, P = 0.30; OR = 0.74, 95% CI = 0.07–7.96, P = 0.30; OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 0.88–1.25, P = 0.59). All the above results were consistent after validation by different Mendelian randomization methods and sensitivity analyses.ConclusionThis Mendelian randomization study provides causal evidence that CRP is a risk factor for ISSHL, while TNF-α and fibrinogen do not increase the risk for ISSHL Introduction.

13. Dietary L-Lysine Requirement of Coho Salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) Alevins

Abstract: The suitable dietary L-lysine concentration for coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) alevins was assessed by a dose response feeding trial. Six experimental diets were made with graded L-lysine concentrations of 2.29%, 2.81%, 3.32%, 3.80%, 4.27%, and 4.78% of the dry matter, respectively, each of which was fed to triplicate groups of 100 alevins (initial body weight: 0.30 ± 0.01 g) in 18 plastic baskets (water volume 240 L). The alevins were cultured in a flowing freshwater system and fed manually to apparent satiation four times a day for 12 weeks. The survival rate of alevins did not differ significantly among the dietary groups. The specific growth rate (SGR), protein efficiency ratio (PER), and body protein deposition (BPD) increased significantly (p < 0.05) with the increase in dietary lysine concentration up to 3.80% and then reduced as lysine level further increased. The feed conversion ratio (FCR) had an inverse trend to SGR. The whole-body crude protein content of the alevins increased significantly with increasing dietary lysine level, while crude lipid content showed the opposite trend. In comparison, the contents of morphological indices, whole-body moisture, and ash were not affected significantly (p > 0.05) by the different dietary lysine concentrations. The highest contents of lysine, arginine, and total essential amino acids (EAAs) were observed in the group with 4.27% dietary lysine concentration, which did not differ significantly from those in the 3.32%, 3.80%, and 4.78% groups but was significantly higher than those in the 2.29% and 2.81% groups. Similarly, valine had the highest content in the group with 4.78%. The variations in dietary lysine had no significant impacts on other EAA and non-EAA contents except glycine, which increased with increasing dietary lysine level. Second-order polynomial model analyses based on SGR, PER, BPD, and FCR evaluated the optimum L-lysine requirements of coho salmon alevins as 3.74%, 3.73%, 3.91%, and 3.77% of the diet or 6.80%, 6.78%, 7.11%, and 6.85% of dietary proteins, respectively.

14. Effect of Thermal via Design on Heat Dissipation of High-Lead QFN Packages Mounted on PCB

Abstract: The quad flat no-lead package (QFN) is widely used in integrated circuits due to its advantages in performance and cost. With the increasing power of electronic products, effective heat dissipation from QFN packages has become crucial to prevent product damage. The focus of this study is to investigate the thermal performance of QFN packages soldered onto printed circuit boards (PCB) by finite element analysis (FEA). Conventional QFN, dual-row QFN, and high-lead QFN packages were modeled and compared by ANSYSY software. The effect of thermal via design (the distance, number, distribution, diameter, and thickness of thermal vias) on the QFN package was investigated. The study revealed that the high-lead QFN package consistently demonstrated superior heat dissipation performance than the other two under different conditions. Placing thermal vias closer to the heat source enhances heat dissipation efficiency. Thermal vias positioned beneath the thermal pad were particularly effective. Increasing thermal via quantity and diameter improved heat dissipation, with square distribution layouts showing advantages. However, excessive copper plating thickness can increase thermal resistance and hinder heat dissipation.

15. Partial Replacement of Fishmeal with Poultry By-Product Meal in Diets for Coho Salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) Post-Smolts

Abstract: The present study evaluated the effects of partially substituting fish meal (FM) with poultry by-product meal (PBPM) on the growth, muscle composition, and tissue biochemical parameters of coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) post-smolts. Five isonitrogenous (7.45% nitrogen) and isoenergetic (18.61 MJ/kg gross energy) experimental diets were made by substituting 0%, 10%, 20%, 40%, and 60% FM protein with PBPM protein, which were designated accordingly as PBPM0 (the control), PBPM10, PBPM20, PBPM40, and PBPM60, respectively. Each diet was fed to triplicates of ten post-smolts (initial individual body weight, 180.13 ± 1.32 g) in three floating cages three times daily (6:50, 11:50, and 16:50) to apparent satiation for 84 days. Both specific growth rate (SGR) and protein efficiency ratio did not differ significantly (p > 0.05) among the control, PBPM10, and PBPM20 groups, which were remarkably (p < 0.05) higher than those of the PBPM40 and PBPM60 groups. Feed conversion ratio varied inversely with SGR. The PBPM replacement had no remarkable effects on the morphological indices and proximal muscle components. The control and PBPM10 groups led to significantly higher muscle contents of leucine, lysine, and methionine than groups of higher PBPM inclusion. The groups of PBPM40 and PBPM60 obtained significantly (p < 0.05) higher serum alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase activities than the control and low PBPM inclusion groups. The control group had significantly higher albumin and total cholesterol contents than the groups with PBPM inclusion. The control group had significantly higher triglycerides content than the PBPM60 group. The PBPM60 group had significantly lower contents of high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, and total protein than the control and PBPM10 groups. The high PBPM replacement level up to 40% and 60% had adverse effects on hepatic malondialdehyde levels. The catalase and superoxide dismutase activities were not affected by low PBPM inclusion, but significantly decreased in high-PBPM-inclusion groups. Based on broken-line regression analysis of SGR and PER, the optimum dietary PBPM replacing level was evaluated to be 16.63–17.50% of FM protein for coho salmon post-smolts.

Abstract: Abstract The OSIRIS detector is a subsystem of the liquid scintillator filling chain of the JUNO reactor neutrino experiment. Its purpose is to validate the radiopurity of the scintillator to assure that all components of the JUNO scintillator system work to specifications and only neutrino-grade scintillator is filled into the JUNO Central Detector. The aspired sensitivity level of $$10^{-16}\hbox { g/g}$$ 10 - 16 g/g of $$^{238}\hbox {U}$$ 238 U and $$^{232}\hbox {Th}$$ 232 Th requires a large ( $$\sim 20\,\hbox {m}^3$$ ∼ 20 m 3 ) detection volume and ultralow background levels. The present paper reports on the design and major components of the OSIRIS detector, the detector simulation as well as the measuring strategies foreseen and the sensitivity levels to U/Th that can be reached in this setup.

Abstract: Abstract JUNO is a massive liquid scintillator detector with a primary scientific goal of determining the neutrino mass ordering by studying the oscillated anti-neutrino flux coming from two nuclear power plants at 53 km distance. The expected signal anti-neutrino interaction rate is only 60 counts per day (cpd), therefore a careful control of the background sources due to radioactivity is critical. In particular, natural radioactivity present in all materials and in the environment represents a serious issue that could impair the sensitivity of the experiment if appropriate countermeasures were not foreseen. In this paper we discuss the background reduction strategies undertaken by the JUNO collaboration to reduce at minimum the impact of natural radioactivity. We describe our efforts for an optimized experimental design, a careful material screening and accurate detector production handling, and a constant control of the expected results through a meticulous Monte Carlo simulation program. We show that all these actions should allow us to keep the background count rate safely below the target value of 10 Hz (i.e. ∼1 cpd accidental background) in the default fiducial volume, above an energy threshold of 0.7 MeV.

Abstract: Abstract Atmospheric neutrinos are one of the most relevant natural neutrino sources that can be exploited to infer properties about cosmic rays and neutrino oscillations. The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) experiment, a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector with excellent energy resolution is currently under construction in China. JUNO will be able to detect several atmospheric neutrinos per day given the large volume. A study on the JUNO detection and reconstruction capabilities of atmospheric $$\nu _e$$ ν e and $$\nu _\mu $$ ν μ fluxes is presented in this paper. In this study, a sample of atmospheric neutrino Monte Carlo events has been generated, starting from theoretical models, and then processed by the detector simulation. The excellent timing resolution of the 3” PMT light detection system of JUNO detector and the much higher light yield for scintillation over Cherenkov allow to measure the time structure of the scintillation light with very high precision. Since $$\nu _e$$ ν e and $$\nu _\mu $$ ν μ interactions produce a slightly different light pattern, the different time evolution of light allows to discriminate the flavor of primary neutrinos. A probabilistic unfolding method has been used, in order to infer the primary neutrino energy spectrum from the detector experimental observables. The simulated spectrum has been reconstructed between 100 MeV and 10 GeV, showing a great potential of the detector in the atmospheric low energy region.

Abstract: Abstract We present the calibration strategy for the 20 kton liquid scintillator central detector of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO). By utilizing a comprehensive multiple-source and multiple-positional calibration program, in combination with a novel dual calorimetry technique exploiting two independent photosensors and readout systems, we demonstrate that the JUNO central detector can achieve a better than 1% energy linearity and a 3% effective energy resolution, required by the neutrino mass ordering determination.

Natural medicines (NMs) have the advantages of low cost and low toxicity. NMs are potential treatments for cerebral diseases due to their ability to regulate cerebral metabolism. However, most NMs have low bioavailability due to their low solubility/permeability. The study is to summarize the better bioactivity, cerebral metabolism and pharmacokinetics of NMs and its advanced version. This study sums up research articles on the NMs to treat brain diseases. NMs affect cerebral metabolism and the related mechanisms are revealed. Nanotechnologies are applied to deliver NMs. Appropriate delivery systems (exosomes, nanoparticles, liposomes, lipid polymer hybrid nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, protein conjugation and nanosuspensions, etc.) provide better pharmacological and pharmacokinetic characteristics of NMs. The structure-based metabolic reactions and enzyme-modulated catalytic reactions related to advanced versions of NMs alter the pharmacological activities of NMs.

Abstract: The oral administration of a single formulation loaded with more than one natural medicine to treat chronic diseases has advantages such as convenience, effectiveness, and economy. Here, using biomaterials approved by the drug administration, we fabricated supramolecular nanovectors containing dual natural medicines to prevent gastric mucosal lesions. Nanovectors exhibited superior intestinal absorption and bioavailability, which might be due to their high dispersion, good muco-adhesiveness, blood-lymph circulation transport, lipid sensing, and protective effects. Molecular docking results clarified the possible mechanisms in aspects of efflux pump (p-glycoprotein and multidrug resistance protein 1) inhibition effects, metabolic enzyme (cytochrome P450 3A4/1A2) blocking effects, serum albumin deposit effects, and dual drug interaction effects. Nanovectors decreased ethanol-induced gastric mucosal lesions by lowering the gastric ulcer index, preventing oxidative damage, decreasing interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α and malondialdehyde, increasing glutathione, superoxide dismutase, and prostaglandin E2 levels. The interactions of inhibitor of nuclear factor-κB or κB kinase-related proteins and dual drugs or nanovector components were simulated computationally to provide an understanding of the gastro-protective action mechanism. Abstract: Inductive wear debris sensor has been proved to be an effective device for lubricant oil condition monitoring and fault diagnosis. However, the narrow internal diameter of current sensing coil, designed for high sensitivity, limits the oil throughput. To improve the throughput without sacrificing the sensitivity, a novel multichannel wear debris detection method based on time division multiplexing is presented in this work. Only one excitation signal is used to excite multiple sensing coils. Then, the signals from multiple sensing coils are combined with a serials of square waves separately, which are self-designed specially. As a result, the peak waveforms are lifted in different timeslots by the high-level voltages in squares waves. After that, the peaks of the signals are cut out and combined into one output signal. Then, we used synchronized sampling method to record the peak values of the output signal. The signals for all sensing channels are finally extracted from the recorded peak values. To validate the feasibility of the proposed method, we designed a ten-channel sensor system using time division multiplexing. Through the pseudo-dynamic and dynamic test, it is proved that the sensor could detect wear debris in different channels simultaneously and independently without sacrificing the sensitivity. In addition, the proposed method has the potential to integrate more channels into one system, which would contribute to high throughput real time lubricant oil detection.

32. Clinical Features and Treatment of Congenital Pyriform Sinus Fistula: Analysis of 12 Cases

Abstract: Background Congenital pyriform sinus fistula (CPSF) is a rare congenital disease derived from the remnants of the third or fourth branchial cleft. Objectives To investigate the imaging characteristics, clinical manifestations, surgical methods, complications, and personalized treatment of CPSF. Material and Methods The clinical data of 12 CPSF patients admitted to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from March 2016 to May 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Cryogenic plasma radiofrequency ablation, carbon dioxide laser resection, and external cervical excision were selected based on the individual condition, and postoperative complications and efficacy were evaluated. Results There were 6 men and 6 women. Neck abscess or thyroiditis was considered at the initial diagnosis. In 11 of the cases, the CPSF was on the left side, whereas in the rest one case, it was on the right. A pyriform fossa fistula was observed during hypopharyngeal iodine angiography. Eight patients were treated with endoscopic piriform fossa fistula laser resection, two with cryogenic plasma radiofrequency ablation, and the rest with external cervical fistula resection. There was no evidence of postoperative hoarseness, pharyngeal fistula, dysphagia, and other complications. Conclusion and Significance CPSF is less common in adults than in children. For patients with recurrent neck abscesses, CPSF should be highly suspected, timely angiography should be performed as soon as possible, and care should be taken to avoid missed diagnoses. The primary method for piriform fossa fistula removal is surgical treatment. Finally, tailoring treatment regimens to the patient’s condition can significantly improve curative efficacy.

Abstract: For large-scale atomistic simulations of magnetic materials, the interplay of atomic and magnetic degrees of freedom needs to be described with high computational efficiency. Here we present an analytic bond-order potential (BOP) for iron-cobalt, an interatomic potential based on a coarse-grained description of the electronic structure. We fitted BOP parameters to magnetic and non-magnetic density-functional theory (DFT) calculations of Fe, Co, and Fe-Co bulk phases. Our BOP captures the electronic structure of magnetic and non-magnetic Fe-Co phases. It provides accurate predictions of structural stability, elastic constants, phonons, point and planar defects, and structural transformations. It also reproduces the DFT-predicted sequence of stable ordered phases peculiar to Fe-Co and the stabilization of B2 against disordered phases by magnetism. Our Fe-Co BOP is suitable for atomistic simulations with thousands and millions of atoms.

Abstract: Membrane fouling caused by non-polar foulants is a challenging problem for hydrophobic membranes, which hinders the industrial implementation of membrane distillation (MD). The hydrophilic coating can create a hydration layer at solid-water interface, thereby the hydrophilic surfaces are expected to supply a barrier inhibiting adhesion of hydrophobic foulants. Hence, it should be possible to develop anti-fouling composite membranes through constructing a hydrophilic skin layer onto hydrophobic MD membranes. Herein, we fabricated a novel composite membrane for excellent anti-oil-fouling performance in MD process by electrospinning polyetherimide (PEI) nanofibers on the hydrophobic polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane surface, followed by cross-linking with ethanediamine (EDA). The membrane morphology and structure properties, surface zeta potential and wettability, thermal stability were all systematically characterized, and force spectroscopy was used to quasi-quantitatively evaluate oil-membrane adhesion force. Compared with the PVDF membrane, the PVDF/PEI-EDA composite membrane exhibited strong resistance to crude oil with underwater oil contact angle of about 145° and low oil-membrane adhesion force, which contributed to the stable performance during MD desalinating an oily and saline solution. The fabricated composite membrane with underwater-oleophobic fibrous surface can effectively mitigate oil-fouling in MD and promote MD to treat highly saline wastewater with high concentration of hydrophobic foulants.

Abstract: Effectiveness of enzyme therapy is limited by enzyme drawbacks such as short half-life, low bioavailability and high immunogenicity. We loaded asparaginase (Aase) into hydroxypropyl- or sulfonbutylether-beta cyclodextrin to form supramolecular amphiphilic molecules by self-assembly followed by entrapment inside the cores of two biomimetic lipidic nanovectors (AS-XLNs). Supramolecular structure was simulated by molecular docking. AS-XLNs maintained superior activity through isolating Aase from external environment due to docking with cyclodextrin and coating with biomimetic membrane. Fluorescent probes and computational simulations were used to reveal possible interactions between serum albumin/trypsin and Aase/nanovector membrane components which were partly responsible for enhanced bioavailability and bioactivity of AS-XLNs compared to Aase. AS-XLNs significantly increased cytotoxicity against pulmonary tumor cells due to synergistic effects of Aase and nanovector membrane components (killing tumor cells through apoptosis induced by asparagine depletion and autophagy inhibition or via targets such as vascular endothelial growth factor A, alpha-amylase, p-selectin or androgen receptor).

Abstract: On the microfluidic chip, the zeta potential is an important parameter dominating the direction and magnitude of the electroosmotic flow, electrophoresis and other electrokinetic transport phenomenon. However, the traditional methods for zeta potential measurement mainly work based on the indirect methods, which would introduce many errors. In this paper, a novel direct method based on AFM colloidal probe technique was developed to measure the zeta potential. Firstly, to simplify the theoretical model, the approaching speed of the colloidal probe, at which the hydrodynamic force could be neglected, was determined. Then by fitting the experimental data with the theoretical model, the zeta potential of glass in electrolyte solutions was directly calculated.

Abstract: We present the calibration strategy for the 20 kton liquid scintillator central detector of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO). By utilizing a comprehensive multiple-source and multiple-positional calibration program, in combination with a novel dual calorimetry technique exploiting two independent photosensors and readout systems, we demonstrate that the JUNO central detector can achieve a better than 1% energy linearity and a 3% effective energy resolution, required by the neutrino mass ordering determination. Abstract: Future large neutrino detectors, such as JUNO, Hyper-Kamiokande and DUNE, will open a new era in studies of supernova and presupernova neutrinos, which can give important information for the explosion mechanism of collapse-driven supernovae. This work is dedicated to the neutrino evolution in the astrophysical environment, taking into account the collective neutrino oscillations between different helical states engendered by interaction of the neutrino magnetic moment with a magnetic field, as well as the interaction with matter in the case when there is a transversal matter current or matter polarization. By using the numerical simulation method, we show that distinct spin-flavor spectral splits do exist in the supernova neutrino flavor evolution when there is non-trivial transversally moving matter.

Abstract: We present an analysis of a neutrino flux evolution in an extreme astrophysical environment peculiar to supernovae accounting for effects of an arbitrarily moving media and strong magnetic field. For neutrinos propagating inside a supernova the resonances in the flavour and spin-flavour oscillations engendered by the neutrino magnetic moment interaction with a magnetic field and weak interactions with the transversally moving matter are accounted for. In addition, we also account for the effect of the collective neutrino oscillations and discuss possible spectral splits of the final neutrino fluxes that can arise due to spin and spin-flavour oscillations in this case.

Abstract: Neutron-deficient actinide nuclei provide a valuable window to probe heavy nuclear systems with large proton-neutron ratios. In recent years, several new neutron-deficient Uranium and Neptunium isotopes have been observed using α-decay spectroscopy [Z. Y. Zhang et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 122, 192503 (2019); L. Ma et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 125, 032502 (2020); Z. Y. Zhang et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 126, 152502 (2021)]. In spite of these achievements, some neutron-deficient key nuclei in this mass region are still unknown in experiments. Machine learning algorithms have been applied successfully in different branches of modern physics. It is interesting to explore their applicability in α-decay studies. In this work, we propose a new model to predict the α-decay energies and half-lives within the framework based on a machine learning algorithm called the Gaussian process. We first calculate the α-decay properties of the new actinide nucleus . The theoretical results show good agreement with the latest experimental data, which demonstrates the reliability of our model. We further use the model to predict the α-decay properties of some unknown neutron-deficient actinide isotopes and compare the results with traditional models. The results may be useful for future synthesis and identification of these unknown isotopes.

Abstract: The designable and configurable DNA nanostructures with various biological functions have been widely applied in biosensors especially for detection of nucleic acid. In this work, a cascade signal amplification strategy based on DNAzyme-driven 3D DNA walkers combined with hyperbranched HCR and DNAzyme catalyzation were applied for sensitive electrochemical detection of microRNA-141. First, the Mg2+-dependent cleavage of DNAzyme trigger the autonomous DNA walking process, inducing the generation of mediate strand output, thereby leading the construction of hyperbranched HCR and subsequently providing more embedding sites for electroactive molecules. Meanwhile, the G-quadruplex domains are introduced by the terminal of DNA strand in constructing hyperbranched nanostructure. Finally, the formed hemin/G-quadruplex DNAzyme (a horseradish peroxidase-mimicking DNAzyme) could catalyze the decomposition of H2O2, greatly increasing the intensity of electrochemical signal. Combined with the DNAzyme-driven 3D DNA walkers, hyperbranched HCR and DNAzyme catalyst assisted amplification strategies, the electrochemical biosensor showed a wide linear range for the detection of microRNA-141 with favorable sensitivity and selectivity. The performance of this biosensor in different cell lysates were evaluated, which showed great potential in assay of microRNAs at low expression levels in complex samples.

Abstract: To improve peel color of ethephon-degreened citrus fruit, in this study, the effects of blue light emiting diode (LED) light (450 nm) irradiation on chlorophyll and carotenoid metabolism of ethephon-degreened mandarin fruit were evaluated. Deeper and faster coloration were observed in blue LED light-irradiated fruit, accompanied by the accumulation of carotenoid and the degradation of chlorophyll. Blue LED irradiation could shorten the degreening time of ethephon-degreened mandarin fruit. The accumulation of total carotenoid, lutein, violaxanthin, β-cryptoxanthin and zeaxanthin could well explain the faster coloration of the blue LED-irradiated mandarin fruit, while the accumulation of β-cryptoxanthin could well explain the deeper color of the blue LED-irradiated mandarin fruit. For chlorophyll metabolism, the increased expression of chlorophyll catabolism related genes ( CitChlase , CitPao and CitRCCR ), especially the increased expression of CitChlase might partly explain the sharply decrease of chlorophyll a and b in blue LED-irradiated fruit. However, it seems that both the expression levels of genes in metabolism of carotenoid and chlorophyll could only partly explain the changes in carotenoid and chlorophyll contents, more complex mechanisms might be interacting. Blue LED light may be a potential technique for improving the external color and commercial value of ethephon-degreened citrus fruit.

Abstract: Dark-field imaging techniques based on the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of metal nanoparticles provide new insights for real-time monitoring of dynamic reaction processes at single particle level. In this work, the Au/Ag nanocages (NCs) are employed as optical plasmon probes for microRNA detection based on visualized scattering signal changes. Induced by DNAzyme-catalyzed etching process, the scattering signals of plasmon probe “turns-off” due to the decreased silver proportion of Au/Ag NCs with time elapse. The dynamic process is monitored under dark-field microscopy, in which the waiting time that elapsed before a nanocage stochastically disappeared is found directly related to the concentration of the target microRNA. Combined with the strand displacement and hybridization cascade amplification strategy, the concentration of microRNA-21 in cell lysate is determined by statistical analysis with high sensitivity and selectivity. The proposed dark-field scattering biosensing based on nanocage probes is convenient for accurately judging end-point during real time monitoring over time, and provides a novel strategy for the development of biosensing at single particle level.

47. Effect and mechanism of an anionic surfactant on membrane performance during direct contact membrane distillation

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the effect of a typical anion surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) on direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) process using three different membranes, including polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) hydrophobic membranes and an omniphobic membrane. The PVDF membrane was the most likely to be wetted, and the pores wetting got more serious for both the PVDF and PTFE membranes with SDS concentration increasing. The omniphobic membrane presented robust anti-surfactant-wetting ability, even facing the saline feed with 0.5 mM SDS. The calcium ions can promote the surfactant SDS micellization, and the formed SDS colloids could cause membrane fouling. After 50 h continuous DCMD operation, the permeate flux of the hydrophobic membranes declined more than 50% due to membrane fouling, while the loss of permeate flux for the omniphobic membrane was only about 20%. The mechanism of membrane fouling was quantitatively investigated by the extended Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek theory. The calculated results manifested that the omniphobic membrane had the lowest attractive force to the foulant, indicating a less risk of being fouled. The energy barrier of the omniphobic membrane was the highest, resulting in the strongest resistance against the SDS colloids deposition on membrane surface.
