Abstract Purpose Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) have an increased risk of developing late chronic diseases, which can be influenced by the cancer type and its treatment. These chronic diseases can be severe and disabling, typically emerging years to decades after treatment. These deficits negatively impact quality of life, intelligence quotient, and memory. This study investigated how much the cancer type and treatment could affect the neurological hospitalisations in the French Childhood Cancer Survivors Study (FCCSS). Methods We included 5579 childhood cancer survivors (CCS), diagnosed with solid tumours or lymphoma between 1945 and 2000, treated before 2001 and below the age of 21 years at initial treatment. The follow-up period was from 2006 to 2018. Hospitalisation data were obtained by linkage with the National Health Data System. We calculated the relative hospitalisation rate (RHRs) and absolute excess rate (AERs). Multivariable analyses were conducted using a Generalized Linear Model (GLM) with a Poisson distribution to estimate the association between neurological hospitalisation and patient characteristics. The expected number of hospitalisations served as an offset to compare the risk for FCCSS survivors with that of the reference population. Risk estimates were reported as relative risk (RR) with 95% confidence intervals. Results The hospitalisation rate for CCS was 114.2 per 10,000 person-years (PY), compared to 48.4 in the reference population. The highest hospitalisation rates were observed for epilepsy (AER = 27.1 per 10000 PY, 95%CI: 23.5–31.2 and RHR = 5.1, 95%CI 4.4–5.7). In multivariable analyses, central nervous system (CNS) tumours survivors had the highest relative risk (RR) of hospitalisation (RR = 9.4, 95%CI: 6.7–13.1) followed by neuroblastoma survivors (RR = 2.5, 95%CI: 1.7–3.7). In the whole population, survivors who received radiation to the head and neck had a significantly higher risk of hospitalisation (RR = 3.9, 95%CI: 3.3–4.7) compared to those who did not receive radiotherapy. Conclusions Head and neck irradiation was identified as a strong risk factor for hospitalisation. This underlines the importance of implementing specific neurologic surveillance programs for at-risk individuals.

Phytic acid (inositol hexaphosphate/IP6) is a versatile chemical that is abundant in nature and is required for a variety of biological processes. It is harnessed in a wide range of fields, including drug discovery, daily supplies, chemical industries, medicine, and dentistry. IP6 is becoming increasingly popular in dentistry, with promising results. Several properties, such as cariostatic ability, beneficial impact on enamel disintegration, and anti-plaque, anti-tartar, and dental adhesive-forming properties, have been investigated thus far. Due to many constraints in the literature, there was a point in time when IP6 received less attention, which impacted knowledge in this field. Nevertheless, the positive outcomes of the flourishing of IP6 have recently been reconsidered from a number of papers that have improved our understanding of its modes of action in the aforementioned applications. The role of phytic acid in refining the properties and manoeuvring of dental resources is being investigated in novel endeavors in treating diseases of pulp and tissues supporting tooth structure, but to show its novel therapeutic potential, more precisely calibrated clinical trials are needed. This review examines and discusses the various uses proposed in the literature, as well as the applications of IP6 in dentistry.

BackgroundCardiac disease (CD) is a primary long-term diagnosed pathology among childhood cancer survivors. Dosiomics (radiomics extracted from the dose distribution) have received attention in the past few years to assess better the induced risk of radiotherapy (RT) than standard dosimetric features such as dose-volume indicators. Hence, using the spatial information contained in the dosiomics features with machine learning methods may improve the prediction of CD.MethodsWe considered the 7670 5-year survivors of the French Childhood Cancer Survivors Study (FCCSS). Dose-volume and dosiomics features are extracted from the radiation dose distribution of 3943 patients treated with RT. Survival analysis is performed considering several groups of features and several models [Cox Proportional Hazard with Lasso penalty, Cox with Bootstrap Lasso selection, Random Survival Forests (RSF)]. We establish the performance of dosiomics compared to baseline models by estimating C-index and Integrated Brier Score (IBS) metrics with 5-fold stratified cross-validation and compare their time-dependent error curves.ResultsAn RSF model adjusted on the first-order dosiomics predictors extracted from the whole heart performed best regarding the C-index (0.792 ± 0.049), and an RSF model adjusted on the first-order dosiomics predictors extracted from the heart’s subparts performed best regarding the IBS (0.069 ± 0.05). However, the difference is not statistically significant with the standard models (C-index of Cox PH adjusted on dose-volume indicators: 0.791 ± 0.044; IBS of Cox PH adjusted on the mean dose to the heart: 0.074 ± 0.056).ConclusionIn this study, dosiomics models have slightly better performance metrics but they do not outperform the standard models significantly. Quantiles of the dose distribution may contain enough information to estimate the risk of late radio-induced high-grade CD in childhood cancer survivors.

Agrivoltaic systems emerge as a promising solution to the ongoing conflict between allocating agricultural land for food production and establishing solar parks. This field experiment, conducted during the spring and summer seasons of 2023, aims to showcase barley production in a vertical agrivoltaic system compared to open-field reference conditions at Kärrbo Prästgård, near Västerås, Sweden. The dataset presented in this article encompasses both barley kernel and straw yields, kernel crude protein levels, starch content in kernels and thousand kernel weight. All collected data underwent analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Tukey pairwise comparison when possible, using dedicated software RStudio 4.3.2. This dataset article illustrates the effects of the vertical agrivoltaic design system on barley productivity. Interested researchers can benefit from this data to better comprehend barley yield under this specific agrivoltaic design and conduct further analyses and comparisons with yields from different locations or design configurations. The experimental data holds the potential to foster collaborations and advance research in agrivoltaic systems, providing a valuable resource for anyone interested in the subject. It was observed that the mean barley yield in all the different areas of the vertical agrivoltaic system were higher than the one in the control area. Additionally, weather and solar irradiance data collected during the growing season are provided in the repository for further usage.

This study aimed to evaluate the awareness and knowledge of primary school teachers regarding emergency first aid management for tooth avulsion at Agadir.Methods: The study was conducted in 46 randomly selected primary schools in Agadir and included all teachers from these schools. Data collection was carried out through a self-administered questionnaire focusing on teachers’ socio-demographic characteristics, understanding of the importance of emergency management and familiarity with emergency procedures. Data analysis was performed using Jamovi Version 2.3.21.0.Results: A total of 202 teachers participated in the study, 61% being female and 39% male. It has been found that 59.4% of the teachers had encountered an avulsed tooth accident at school. Of these, 23.9% indicated they would immediately replant the avulsed tooth, while 76.7% would contact the child’s parents. Regarding storage, 6.8% would preserve the avulsed tooth in milk, while 30.1% preferred using paper. No significant differences were found in term of seniority and age groups (p> 0.05).Discussion: An educational programs is needed to enhance the management and prognosis of permanent tooth avulsion among children in Morocco.Keywords: dental trauma, tooth avulsion, children, management, teachers

هدف الدراسة الى : تصميم وتقنين اختبار لتحمل الأداء لمهارة الضرب الساحق للاعبين الشباب بالكرة الطائرة. ايجاد درجات ومستويات معيارية لتحمل الأداء لمهارة الضرب الساحق. واستخدمت الباحثتان المنهج الوصفي وتضمنت عينة البحث لاعبي كرة طائرة فئة الشباب (نادي مصافي الشمال، الشرطة، أربيل، غاز الجنوب) وبلغ عدهم (42لاعبا). بعد ذلك تم عرض النتائج وتحليلها ومناقشتها، واستخدمت الباحثتان الاختبارات المناسبة لاستخراج المتغيرات الخاصة بالبحث، وتم معالجة النتائج بالوسائل الإحصائية المناسبة. وخرجت الباحثتان اهم الاستنتاجات التالية: إيجاد الدرجات ومستويات معيارية للاختبار تكون بمثابة الدليل الموضوعي في تقييم مستوى اللاعب بالنسبة الى المجموعة التي ينتمي اليها. توصي الباحثتان بضرورة الاهتمام بالاختبارات والمقاييس البدنية والمهارية لأنها تعكس المستوى الذي يصل اليه اللاعبون.

Natural fiber processing is the type of fiber as raw materials for textile or other industries that can be obtained directly from nature. In the Indonesian automotive industry, the manufacture of parts in vehicles is Polypropylene high impact (PPHI). An example of an existing part is a CVT slide piece made with a mixed polymer composite material from PPHI and pineapple leaf fiber. Pineapple leaf fibers with small sizes are needed so that the mixing of polymer composites is good. Therefore modern technology is required to process pineapple leaf fibers. This final project makes a natural fiber powder machine for processing natural fiber, namely scavenging. The research methodology used is a prescriptive design method. The design results produce a natural fiber powder machine (pineapple leaf fiber) for polymer composite materials with long size specifications of 420 mm long, 300 mm wide, and 582 mm high. The production capacity of the natural fiber storage machine is 5 kg/h. The source of the engine drive is a 1 HP AC electric motor with a rev of 2800 rpm. The transmission system uses a V-belt with a drive shaft 30 mm in diameter. The frame construction is made of a 35x35x5 mm profile with ST42 material and knives using S45C material (AISI 1045) with a thickness of 10 mm. It uses nine dynamic blades and six sharp plane fixed blades in a 30-degree active blade and a 60-degree fixed blade.
