Modern electrical power systems place special demands on the speed and accuracy of transient and steady-state process control. The introduction of renewable energy sources has significantly influenced the amount of inertia and uncertainty of transient processes occurring in energy systems. These changes have led to the need to clarify the existing principles for the implementation of devices for protecting power systems from the loss of small-signal and transient stability. Traditional methods of developing these devices do not provide the required adaptability due to the need to specify a list of accidents to be considered. Therefore, there is a clear need to develop fundamentally new devices for the emergency control of power system modes based on adaptive algorithms. This work proposes to develop emergency control methods based on the use of deep machine learning algorithms and obtained data from synchronized vector measurement devices. This approach makes it possible to ensure adaptability and high performance when choosing control actions. Recurrent neural networks, long short-term memory networks, restricted Boltzmann machines, and self-organizing maps were selected as deep learning algorithms. Testing was performed by using IEEE14, IEEE24, and IEEE39 power system models. Two data samples were considered: with and without data from synchronized vector measurement devices. The highest accuracy of classification of the control actions' value corresponds to the long short-term memory networks algorithm: the value of the accuracy factor was 94.31% without taking into account the data from the synchronized vector measurement devices and 94.45% when considering this data. Nontechnical losses of electrical energy (NTLEE) have been a persistent issue in both the Russian and global electric power industries since the end of the 20th century. Every year, these losses result in tens of billions of dollars in damages. Promptly identifying unscrupulous consumers can prevent the onset of NTLEE sources, substantially reduce the amount of NTLEE and economic damages to network grids, and generally improve the economic climate. The contemporary advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence facilitate the identification of NTLEE sources through anomaly detection in energy consumption data. This article aims to analyze the current efficacy of computational methods in locating, detecting, and identifying nontechnical losses and their origins, highlighting the application of neural network technologies. Our research indicates that nearly half of the recent studies on identifying NTLEE sources (41%) employ neural networks. The most utilized tools are convolutional networks and autoencoders, the latter being recognized for their high-speed performance. This paper discusses the main metrics and criteria for assessing the effectiveness of NTLEE identification utilized in training and testing phases. Solar energy is an unlimited and sustainable energy source that holds great importance during the global shift towards environmentally friendly energy production. However, integrating solar power into electrical grids is challenging due to significant fluctuations in its generation. This research aims to develop a model for predicting solar radiation levels using a hybrid power system in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast of Tajikistan. This study determined the optimal hyperparameters of a multilayer perceptron neural network to enhance the accuracy of solar radiation forecasting. These hyperparameters included the number of neurons, learning algorithm, learning rate, and activation functions. Since there are numerous combinations of hyperparameters, the neural network training process needed to be repeated multiple times. Therefore, a control algorithm of the learning process was proposed to identify stagnation or the emergence of erroneous correlations during model training. The results reveal that different seasons require different hyperparameter values, emphasizing the need for the meticulous tuning of machine learning models and the creation of multiple models for varying conditions. The absolute percentage error of the achieved mean for one-hour-ahead forecasting ranges from 0.6% to 1.7%, indicating a high accuracy compared to the current state-of-the-art practices in this field. The development of modern power systems is directly related to changes in the traditional principles of management, planning, and monitoring of electrical modes. The mass introduction of renewable energy sources and control devices based on power electronics components contributes to changing the nature of the flow of transient and quasi-established electrical modes. In this area, the problem arises of conducting a more accurate and rapid assessment of the parameters of the electrical regime using synchronized vector measurement devices. The paper presents an extensive meta-analysis of the modern applications of phasor measurement units (PMUs) for monitoring, emergency management and protection of power systems. As a result, promising research directions, the advantages and disadvantages of the existing approaches to emergency management, condition assessment, and relay protection based on PMUs are identified. Stochastic renewable sources of energy have been causing changes in the structure and operation of power systems. High penetration of this type of generation results in decreased inertia of a power system, increased active power fluctuations, and a higher probability of false tripping of emergency control devices. Traditional algorithms of emergency control are not adaptable and flexible enough for systems with high penetration of renewables and flexible alternating current transmission systems. Integration and development of phasor measurement units make it possible to create adaptable emergency control systems, which would require minimal pre‐defined data. The purpose of this study is to develop an adaptable algorithm for turbine fast valving control synthesis and transient stability estimation for a generator. The suggested algorithm is based on the equal area criterion in the domain synchronous generator "torque–load angle". The measurements of the generator operation under consideration are used as the input data for the steam turbine fast valving control synthesis. Thus, the algorithm becomes adaptable because no pre‐defined parameters of a power system model are required. The suggested algorithm was tested on the power system model NE39bus using Matlab/Simulink. The efficiency of the suggested algorithm is verified and demonstrated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
