Abstract Background Vast economic and healthcare status discrepancies exist among regions in China, contributing to different treatment patterns. This study was aimed to investigate the current status of pharmacotherapy for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and outcomes in China and explore the geographic variation in stroke care. Methods This study was a multicenter prospective registry study, which collected the data of patients with AIS from 80 hospitals in 46 cities in 2015–2017 across China. Poor functional outcome defined as a modified Rankin Scale score of 3–6 was assessed at 3 and 12 months. Multivariate logistic regression was used. Results Among 9973 eligible patients, the number of receiving intravenous thrombolysis (IVT), antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants, statin and human urinary kallidinogenase was 429 (4.3%), 9363 (93.9%), 1063 (10.7%), 6828 (74.7%) and 5112 (51.2%), respectively. Multivariable analysis showed IVT use in northeastern was significantly more frequent than in eastern region (OR = 3.17, 95% CI, 2.53–3.99), while the antiplatelets agents use were less frequent (OR = 0.46, 95%CI: 0.38–0.57). The proportions of poor outcomes at 3 and 12 months were 20.7% and 15.8%, respectively. Abstract Objective A comparative study of joint amnesia in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty with the direct anterior approach and posterior approach was conducted through a comprehensive evaluation. Methods The literature on joint amnesia in postoperative patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty by the direct anterior approach and the posterior approach was systematically searched in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, CBM, Wanfang, and VIP databases from the time of library construction until February 13, 2023. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software after independent searching, screening of the literature, data extraction, and quality assessment of the included studies by two investigators in strict accordance with the guidelines for conducting meta-analyses. Results A total of one RCT and six cohort studies were included in this meta-analysis. Meta-analysis results indicated that at 1 month postoperatively (MD = 2.08, 95% CI (0.20, 3.96), P = 0.03), 3 months (MD = 10.08, 95% CI (1.20, 18.96), P = 0.03), and 1 year (MD = 6.74, 95% CI (1.30, 12.19), P = 0.02), DAA total hip arthroplasty was associated with better FJS compared to PA at 1 year postoperatively. However, there was no statistical significance in FJS between the two groups at 5 years postoperatively (MD = 1.35, 95% CI (− 0.58, 3.28), P = 0.17). Conclusion Current evidence suggests that the degree of joint amnesia after THA for DAA was not found to be superior to that of PA. Abstract Objective To systematically evaluate the clinical safety and efficacy of the direct superior approach and the conventional surgical approach. Date sources From PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and China Knowledge Network up to January 30, 2023. Bacterial infection is a vital factor to delay the wound healing process. The antibiotics abuse leads to drug resistance of some pathogenic bacteria. Non-antibiotic-dependent multifunctional biomaterials with accelerated wound healing performance are urgently desired. Herein, we reported a composite antibacterial hydrogel PDA-PAM/Mg2+ that shows excellent self-healing and tissue adhesive property, and photothermal antibacterial functions for accelerating wound healing. The gel was composed of polyacrylamide (PAM), polydopamine (PDA), and magnesium (Mg2+) and prepared via a two-step procedure: an alkali-induced dopamine pre-polymerization and followed radical polymerization process. The composite gel shows excellent tissue adhesiveness and Mg2+-synergized photothermal antibacterial activity, inducing a survival rate of 5.29% for S. aureus and 7.06% for E. coli after near infrared light irradiation. The composite hydrogel further demonstrated efficient bacteria inhibition, enhanced wound healing and collagen deposition in a full-thickness skin defect rat model. Together, the PDA-PAM/Mg2+ hydrogel presents an excellent wound dressing with excellent tissue adhesion, wound healing, and antibacterial functions.

Abstract Recently, DNA nanostructures with vast application potential in the field of biomedicine, especially in drug delivery. Among these, tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDN) have attracted interest worldwide due to their high stability, excellent biocompatibility, and simplicity of modification. TDN could be synthesized easily and reproducibly to serve as carriers for, chemotherapeutic drugs, nucleic acid drugs and imaging probes. Therefore, their applications include, but are not restricted to, drug delivery, molecular diagnostics, and biological imaging. In this review, we summarize the methods of functional modification and application of TDN in cancer treatment. Also, we discuss the pressing questions that should be targeted to increase the applicability of TDN in the future. Graphical Abstract

Ionic liquids have attracted attention due to their excellent properties and potential for use as co-solvents, solvents, co-catalysts, catalysts, and as other chemical reagents. This mini-review focuses on the properties and structures of ionic liquids, the pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass, and the development of novel ionic liquid-based solid catalysts for cellulose and hemicellulose derived HMF production.

Abstract The contribution of intermittent rivers and ephemeral streams (IRES) to the global carbon cycle has largely been overlooked. Flood events can impact hydrological processes, carbon (C) transport, and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This study monitored river flow and sediment concentrations in an intermittent river during a flood event. Water samples were measured for water quality factors and C transport indices. CO2 partial pressure (pCO2) and CO2 flux (FCO2) were also analyzed. Remote sensing data were used to analyze soil erosion in the basin. Results indicate that the total sediment load from the flood was approximately 5503.1 t, with sediment concentrations showing a direct relationship with flow discharge. By completing a hysteresis loop and soil erosion level analysis, soil erosion from the river source and runoff surface scour were found to be the primary sources of sediment. The flood significantly increased particulate organic carbon and decreased dissolved organic carbon. During the flood, pCO2 ranged between 669 and 1229 ppm, indicating that the IRES served as a carbon source, with pH and total dissolved solids being the main influencing factors. The FCO2 varied between 20.16 and 568.33 mg m−2 h−1 and revealed a significant positive correlation with pCO2. After the flood ended, CO2 emissions increased and remained high for a long time. The study findings have substantial implications for IRES responses to extreme flood events, which are predicted to increase in intensity under climate change.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites are highly efficient in photovoltaic applications, making the commercialization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) possible. However, the high density of defects on the surface significantly affects the performance of PSCs. To address this issue, we have demonstrated a facile post-treatment strategy utilizing methylhydrazine iodide (MHyI) to passivate the surface of the perovskite film. MHyI could co-ordinate with the dangling bonds on the surface of perovskite films, effectively passivating defects in the film and suppressing carrier non-radiative recombination. As a result, PSCs with MHyI modification exhibit a champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 23.19% and a high open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 1.14 V (0.43 V voltage deficit). Moreover, unencapsulated solar cells maintain their initial efficiency of 88% after 30 days of exposure to ambient air with 30% humidity, and the devices with encapsulation retained 57% of their initial efficiency after 200 h of maximum power point (MPP) loading under constant light irradiation in ambient air. Overall, our results provide a facile method for improving the performance and stability of PSCs.

Lake Ulansuhai, one of the main water sources for semi-arid areas of China, has a local deposit caused by soil erosion during past decades. However, a lack of monitor stations prevents better estimation of soil erosion levels. Therefore, we try to estimate soil erosion in the Huangtuyaozi (HTYZ) watershed, an ungauged small watershed of the lake’s eastern watershed, by using the revised universal soil loss equation (RUSLE) model and multi-source remote sensing data, and analyze its key drivers and effect on the lake siltation. The result showed that the soil erosion rate in the HTYZ watershed ranged from 0 to 129.893 t ha−1 yr−1 with an average of 6.45 t ha−1 yr−1 during 1986–2015. In particular, 80.06% of the area was less than 10 t ha−1 yr−1, and just 0.06% was over 50 t ha−1 yr−1, mainly in the mountain area, the southern part of the HTYZ watershed. Moreover, rainfall erosivity factor is the key factor, and rainfall during flood season plays a key role in soil erosion. Due to the soil erosion of HTYZ, siltation in Lake Ulansuhai reached 223.83 ha, with the annual siltation area increasing at a rate of 7.46 ha/yr. The results could provide a reference for estimating soil erosion of ungauged small watershed in semi-arid areas.

In this article, the sources of DC bias and its effects on power transformers are first summarized. Secondly, the article classifies and summarizes the current DC bias calculation problems of power transformers, and puts forward some interesting viewpoints on the research logic of related calculations. The current processing methods of DC bias effect are classified and discussed, their advantages and disadvantages are compared, and the logic flow of DC bias effect processing is proposed. Finally, the current research on DC bias voltage of power transformers is summarized, and the progress and deficiencies of current research are pointed out, which has certain reference value for future research on DC bias voltage and its suppression.

Abstract Because there is no effective treatment for late‐stage prostate cancer (PCa) at this moment, identifying novel targets for therapy of advanced PCa is urgently needed. A new network‐based systems biology approach, XDeath, is developed to detect crosstalk of signaling pathways associated with PCa progression. This unique integrated network merges gene causal regulation networks and protein‐protein interactions to identify novel co‐targets for PCa treatment. The results show that polo‐like kinase 1 (Plk1) and DNA methyltransferase 3A (DNMT3a)‐related signaling pathways are robustly enhanced during PCa progression and together they regulate autophagy as a common death mode. Mechanistically, it is shown that Plk1 phosphorylation of DNMT3a leads to its degradation in mitosis and that DNMT3a represses Plk1 transcription to inhibit autophagy in interphase, suggesting a negative feedback loop between these two proteins. Finally, a combination of the DNMT inhibitor 5‐Aza‐2’‐deoxycytidine (5‐Aza) with inhibition of Plk1 suppresses PCa synergistically.

As CNNs are widely used in fields such as image classification and target detection, the total number of parameters and computation of the models is gradually increasing. In addition, the requirements on hardware resources and power consumption for deploying CNNs are becoming higher and higher, leading to CNN models being restricted to certain specific platforms for miniaturization and practicality. Therefore, this paper proposes a convolutional-neural-network-processor design with an FPGA-based resource-multiplexing architecture, aiming to reduce the consumption of hardware resources and power consumption of CNNs. First, this paper takes a handwritten-digit-recognition CNN as an example of a CNN design based on a resource-multiplexing architecture, and the prediction accuracy of the CNN can reach 97.3 percent by training and testing with Mnist dataset. Then, the CNN is deployed on FPGA using the hardware description language Verilog, and the design is optimized by resource multiplexing and parallel processing. Finally, the total power consumption of the system is 1.03 W and the power consumption of the CNN module is 0.03 W under the premise of guaranteeing the prediction accuracy, and the prediction of a picture is about 68,139 clock cycles, which is 340.7 us under a 200 MHz clock. The experimental results have obvious advantages in terms of resources and power consumption compared with those reported in related articles in recent years, and the design proposed in this paper.

In traditional recommendation algorithms, the users and/or the items with the same rating scores are equally treated. In real world, however, a user may prefer some items to other items and some users are more loyal to a certain item than other users. In this paper, therefore, we propose a weighted similarity measure by exploiting the difference in user-item relationships. In particular, we refer to the most important item of a user as his core item and the most important user of an item as its core user. We also propose a Core-User-Item Solver (CUIS) to calculate the core users and core items of the system, as well as the weighting coefficients for each user and each item. We prove that the CUIS algorithm converges to the optimal solution efficiently. Based on the weighted similarity measure and the obtained results by CUIS, we also propose three effective recommenders. Through experiments based on real-world data sets, we show that the proposed recommenders outperform corresponding traditional-similarity based recommenders, verify that the proposed weighted similarity can improve the accuracy of the similarity, and then improve the recommendation performance.

The measurement of six-degrees-of-freedom (6-DOF) of rigid bodies plays an important role in many industries, but it often requires the use of professional instruments and software, or has limitations on the shape of measured objects. In this paper, a 6-DOF measurement method based on multi-camera is proposed, which is accomplished using at least two ordinary cameras and is made available for most morphological rigid bodies. First, multi-camera calibration based on Zhang Zhengyou’s calibration method is introduced. In addition to the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of cameras, the pose relationship between the camera coordinate system and the world coordinate system can also be obtained. Secondly, the 6-DOF calculation model of proposed method is gradually analyzed by the matrix analysis method. With the help of control points arranged on the rigid body, the 6-DOF of the rigid body can be calculated by the least square method. Finally, the Phantom 3D high-speed photogrammetry system (P3HPS) with an accuracy of 0.1 mm/m was used to evaluate this method. The experiment results show that the average error of the rotational degrees of freedom (DOF) measurement is less than 1.1 deg, and the average error of the movement DOF measurement is less than 0.007 m. In conclusion, the accuracy of the proposed method meets the requirements.
