Pain has been a prominent medical concern since ancient times. Despite significant advances in the diagnosis and treatment of pain in contemporary medicine, there is no a therapeutic cure for chronic pain. Chinese herbaceous peony, a traditional Chinese analgesic herb has been in clinical use for millennia, with widespread application and substantial efficacy. Paeoniflorin (PF), the main active ingredient of Chinese herbaceous peony, has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, analgesic, and antispasmodic properties, among others. The analgesic effect of PF, involving multiple critical targets and pain regulatory pathways, has been a hot spot for current research. This article reviews the literature related to the analgesic effect of PF in the past decade and discusses the molecular mechanism of the analgesic effect of PF, including the protective effects of nerve cells, inhibition of inflammatory reactions, antioxidant effects, reduction of excitability in nociceptor, inhibition of the nociceptive excitatory neuroreceptor system, activation of the nociceptive inhibitory neuroreceptor system and regulation of other receptors involved in nociceptive sensitization. Thus, providing a theoretical basis for pain prevention and treatment research. Furthermore, the prospect of PF-based drug development is presented to propose new ideas for clinical analgesic therapy.

As one of the leading experts in teacher education in China, Professor Zhu Xudong's profound research foundation and extensive practical experience have had a significant impact on the discipline, academia, and practice of teacher education. He spearheaded the transition from traditional education to teacher education in China, actively engaging in international comparisons, system design, theoretical research, and practical exploration. His efforts yielded fruitful results, significantly advancing teacher education in China. Professor Zhu is currently the director of the Teacher Education Research Center at Beijing Normal University, a key research institution in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences under the Ministry of Education. It is the sole key research base in China that specifically focuses on teacher education. Facing the mission and challenges in the construction of education modernization, Zhu Xudong pointed out that it is valuable to establish high-quality teacher education to deeply understand the connotation, mission, and development direction of teacher education. Professor Zhu elaborated on the connotation, mission, and development direction of teacher education in the new era. He believed that teacher education is a three-dimensional training system focusing on the lifelong development of teachers. Teacher education should align with the national strategy for science, technology, education, and talent development. The development direction of teacher education in our country is to establish a balanced teacher education system with distinct characteristics.

Core Ideas First study of PpEIN3 by transgenic experiments to verify its function in the maturity process PpEIN3 is a positive regulator of ethylene signal transduction pathway to promote fruits ripening Ethylene is one of the most important phytohormone in plants and plays a critical role during growth, development, maturity, and aging. The framework of the ethylene signaling pathway is well reported. Nevertheless, studies on Ethylene Insensitive 3 (EIN3), the downstream regulator of the ethylene signaling pathway, need to be investigated, especially in peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch]. In this study, we cloned PpEIN3 from peach and characterized it in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). Our results depicted that the open‐reading frame of PpEIN3 was 1875 bp, encoding a protein with 624 amino acid residues that contained a conserved EIN3 domain, a highly conserved N‐terminal region, and seven DNA‐binding sites. PpEIN3 showed very close association with homologous EIN genes from apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) and grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.). All investigated EIN proteins shared similar domains and structures. The PpEIN3 promoter possessed several motifs related to hormones that affect fruit development and ripening. Spatial–temporal expression analysis revealed that PpEIN3 was expressed at high levels in the late stage of fruit development vs. the early stage. In transgenic tomato, PpEIIN3 showed overexpression and the key ethylene biosynthesis genes SlACO1, SlACS1, and SlSAMS1 were upregulated and promoted early maturation in fruit. By contrast, PpEIIN3 silencing delayed ripening and reduced SlEIN3 expression in tomato. The results confirmed that PpEIN3 is a positive regulator of the ethylene signal transduction pathway, which promoted fruit ripening. Our findings provide valuable insight to the roles in ethylene signal components in the modulation of peach fruit ripening.

Abstract NS1 protein is the only non-structural protein encoded by the influenza A virus, and it contributes significantly to disease pathogenesis by modulating many virus and host cell processes. A two-hybrid screen for proteins that interact with NS1 from influenza A yielded growth arrest-specific protein 8. Gas8 associated with NS1 in vitro and in vivo. Deletion analysis revealed that the N-terminal 260 amino acids of Gas8 were able to interact with NS1, and neither the RNA-binding domain nor the effector domain of NS1 was sufficient for the NS1 interaction. We also found that actin, myosin, and drebrin interact with Gas8. NS1 and β-actin proteins could be co-immunoprecipitated from extracts of transfected cells. Furthermore, actin and Gas8 co-localized at the plasma membrane. These results are discussed in relation to the possible functions of Gas8 protein and their relevance in influenza virus release.
