Electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate (NO 3 −) and nitride (NO 2 −) to ammonia (NH3) is of wide interest as a promising alternative to the energy-intensive Haber-Bosch route for mitigating the vast energy consumption and the accompanied carbon dioxide emission, as well as benefiting for the relevant sewage treatment. However, exploring an efficient and low-cost catalyst with high atomic utilization that can effectively facilitate the slow multi-electron transfer process remains a grand challenge. Herein, we present an efficient hydrogenation of NO 3 − / NO 2 − species to NH3 in both alkaline and neutral environments over the Fe2(MoO4)3 derived hybrid electrocatalyst with the metallic Fe site on FeMoO4 (Fe/FeMoO4). The Mo ingredient can play a synergistically positive role in further promoting the NH3 production on Fe. As a result, Fe/FeMoO4 behaves well in the electrochemical NH3 generation from NO 2 − with a maximum NH3 Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 96.53% and 87.68% in alkaline and neutral electrolyte, corresponding to the NH3 yield rate of 640.68 and 302.56 mg ⋅ h − 1 ⋅ mg cat. − 1 , respectively, which outperforms the Fe and Mo counterpart and other similar catalyst, showing the robust catalytic capacity of each active site. Ambient electrochemical ammonia (NH3) synthesis is one promising alternative to the energy‐intensive Haber–Bosch route. However, the industrial requirement for the electrochemical NH3 production with amperes current densities or gram‐level NH3 yield remains a grand challenge. Herein, we report the high‐rate NH3 production via NO2− reduction using the Cu activated Co electrode in a bipolar membrane (BPM) assemble electrolyser, wherein BPM maintains the ion balance and the liquid level of electrolyte. Benefited from the abundant Co sites and optimal structure, the target modified Co foam electrode delivers a current density of 2.64 A cm−2 with the Faradaic efficiency of 96.45 % and the high NH3 yield rate of 279.44 mg h−1 cm−2 in H‐type cell using alkaline electrolyte. Combined with in situ experiments and theoretical calculations, we found that Cu optimizes the adsorption behavior of NO2− and facilitates the hydrogenation steps on Co sites toward a rapid NO2− reduction process. Importantly, this activated Co electrode affords a large NH3 production up to 4.11 g h−1 in a homemade reactor, highlighting its large‐scale practical feasibility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives Compound Shougong Powder (SGS), a traditional Chinese medicine formulation, has been used to treat cancer for many years with remarkable efficacy. However, the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effect of SGS in Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are not completely clear. Methods The survival and metastasis of HCC cells were examined by CCK-8 assay, EdU assay, Wound-healing and Transwell assay. The anti-tumour effect of SGS was studied using hoechst 33258 staining and flow cytometry. RNA sequencing was applied to detect the underlying mechanism. Comet DNA, qRT-PCR and WB experiments were performed for validation. In addition, HCC nude mouse model was constructed to detect SGS effect in vivo. Key findings SGS inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of HCC cells and induced apoptosis in vitro. In addition, SGS also suppressed tumour growth in a nude mouse model of HCC in a dose-dependent manner. RNA sequencing of the suitably treated HCC cells revealed significant changes in the expression levels of genes involved in the DNA damage repair pathway. The sequencing results were verified by Comet DNA, qRT-PCR, WB assays and molecular docking. Conclusions Taken together, SGS inhibits the malignant phenotype of HCC cells by down-regulating DNA repair genes and consequently inducing DNA damage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is a major internal epigenetic modification in eukaryotic mRNA, which is dynamic and reversible. m6A is regulated by methylases ("writers") and demethylases ("erasers") and is recognized and processed by m6A-binding proteins ("readers"), which further regulate RNA transport, localization, translation, and degradation. It plays a role in promoting or suppressing tumors and has the potential to become a therapeutic target for malignant tumors. In this review, we focus on the mutual regulation of m6A and coding and non-coding RNAs and introduce the molecular mechanism of m6A methylation involved in regulation and its role in cancer treatment by taking common female malignant tumors as an example. CO methanation from electrochemical CO reduction reaction (CORR) is significant for sustainable environment and energy, but electrocatalysts with excellent selectivity and activity are still lacking. Selectivity is sensitive to the structure of active sites, and activity can be tailored by work function. Moreover, intrinsic active sites usually possess relatively high concentration compared to artificial ones. Here, antisite defects MoS2 and WS2, intrinsic atomic defects of MoS2 and WS2 with a transition metal atom substituting a S2 column, were investigated for CORR by density functional theory calculations. The steric hindrance from the special bowl structure of MoS2 and WS2 ensured good selectivity towards CO methanation. Coordination environment variation of the active sites, the under‐coordinated Mo or W atoms, effectively lowered the work function, making MoS2 and WS2 highly active for CO methanation with the required potential of −0.47 and −0.49 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode, respectively. Moreover, high concentration of active sites and minimal structural deformation during the catalytic process of MoS2 and WS2 enhanced their attraction for future commercial application. Electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution in alkaline and neutral media offers the possibility of adopting platinum‐free electrocatalysts for large‐scale electrochemical production of pure hydrogen fuel, but most state‐of‐the‐art electrocatalytic materials based on nonprecious transition metals operate at high overpotentials. Here, a monolithic nanoporous multielemental CuAlNiMoFe electrode with electroactive high‐entropy CuNiMoFe surface is reported to hold great promise as cost‐effective electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline and neutral media. By virtue of a surface high‐entropy alloy composed of dissimilar Cu, Ni, Mo, and Fe metals offering bifunctional electrocatalytic sites with enhanced kinetics for water dissociation and adsorption/desorption of reactive hydrogen intermediates, and hierarchical nanoporous Cu scaffold facilitating electron transfer/mass transport, the nanoporous CuAlNiMoFe electrode exhibits superior nonacidic HER electrocatalysis. It only takes overpotentials as low as ≈240 and ≈183 mV to reach current densities of ≈1840 and ≈100 mA cm−2 in 1 m KOH and pH 7 buffer electrolytes, respectively; ≈46‐ and ≈14‐fold higher than those of ternary CuAlNi electrode with bimetallic Cu–Ni surface alloy. The outstanding electrocatalytic properties make nonprecious multielemental alloys attractive candidates as high‐performance nonacidic HER electrocatalytic electrodes in water electrolysis. Carbon-coated zinc iron oxides (ZnFe2O4/C) are synthesized by a hydrothermal method and subsequent calcination at three different temperatures. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy indicate that the spherical ZnFe2O4/C samples are well-crystallized and that an amorphous layer of carbon, derived from thermal decomposition of glucose, is deposited on the surface of the ZnFe2O4 samples. The testing results demonstrate that ZnFe2O4/C sintered at 600 °C shows a high reversible capacity of 579 mAh g−1 at a current density of 100 mA g−1 after 100 cycles and good rate capability. Transition-metal hydroxides (TMHOs) or oxides (TMOs) with layered crystalline structures are attractive electrode materials for high-density charge storage in electrochemical supercapacitors. However, their randomly stacked nanostructures on conductive reinforcements, typically carbon materials, exhibit only modest enhancement of rate capability because of poor electron and ion transports that are limited by highly anisotropic conductivity, excessive grain boundaries and weak TMHO or TMO/C interfaces. Here we report a hybrid electrode design to tackle all three of these problems in layered Ni(OH)2 for high-performance asymmetric supercapacitors, wherein the single-crystalline Ni(OH)2 nanosheets are vertically aligned on a three-dimensional bicontinuous nanoporous gold skeleton with epitaxial Au/Ni(OH)2 interfaces (NP Au/VA Ni(OH)2). As a result of the unique nanoarchitecture, the pseudocapacitive behavior of Ni(OH)2 is dramatically enhanced for ensuring a volumetric capacitance as high as ∼2911 F cm−3 (∼2416 F g−1 for the constituent Ni(OH)2) in the NP Au/VA Ni(OH)2 electrode with excellent rate capability. Asymmetric supercapacitors assembled with this NP Au/VA Ni(OH)2 electrode and activated carbon have a high gravimetric energy of 31.4 W h kg−1 delivered at an exceptionally high power density of 100 kW kg−1 with excellent cycling stability.
