Abstract Exploiting the hierarchical dependence behind user behaviour is critical for click‐through rate (CRT) prediction in recommender systems. Existing methods apply attention mechanisms to obtain the weights of items; however, the authors argue that deterministic attention mechanisms cannot capture the hierarchical dependence between user behaviours because they treat each user behaviour as an independent individual and cannot accurately express users' flexible and changeable interests. To tackle this issue, the authors introduce the Bayesian attention to the CTR prediction model, which treats attention weights as data‐dependent local random variables and learns their distribution by approximating their posterior distribution. Specifically, the prior knowledge is constructed into the attention weight distribution, and then the posterior inference is utilised to capture the implicit and flexible user intentions. Extensive experiments on public datasets demonstrate that our algorithm outperforms state‐of‐the‐art algorithms. Empirical evidence shows that random attention weights can predict user intentions better than deterministic ones.

Abstract Production of electrical energy in an environmental‐friendly manner is important for meeting the increasing demand of electricity in smart vehicles and energy devices. Benefitted from its moderate working temperatures and high conversion efficiency, proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has received broad attention and commercialized rapidly in the past decades. Herein, we comprehensively review the advanced types of electrolytes and their underlying working mechanisms to offer a considerate guidance to develop novel electrolytes with high proton conductivity and wide working temperature window. Moreover, to rationally design cost‐effective and robust electrodes, the well‐developed anode and cathode and their fundamental working principles are elaborately reviewed and discussed. Furthermore, from the viewpoint of overall structure, fabricating approaches of functional components of PEMFC and their corresponding influencing factors are minutely reviewed and analyzed with the aim of tuning cell performance and preparing PEMFC in a high‐throughput way. Lastly, we highlight the conclusions of this review and present the penitential developing directions.

We use a magnetron sputtering system to grow a tantalum film on a sapphire substrate with a niobium buffer layer at room temperature. The tantalum film is in α -phase, which is preferred for superconducting quantum devices. We fabricate a superconducting heavy fluxonium qubit with this niobium-buffered tantalum film, which demonstrates good performance. Forbidden transitions and sideband transition phenomena between specific energy levels are observed. Due to the specific design parameters, the fluxonium described herein exhibits high anharmonicity while maintaining a long decoherence time in the higher energy states, making it well-suited for use as a qudit and enabling high-dimensional quantum computation. With further optimization of the film deposition process, superconducting qubits other than fluxoniums with higher performance are expected to be obtained using these multilayer films grown at room temperature.

Abstract Myodural bridge (MDB) is a dense connective tissue between suboccipital muscle and dura mater. However, there are few reports on the development and maturation of the human MDB. This study aims to explore the developmental relationship between suboccipital muscle and MDB. 30 head and neck specimens from human fetuses (F) ranging from the 12th to 41st week (W) were made into histological sections. The F12W sections showed evidence that the dura mater dominated by fibroblasts, attached to the posterior atlanto-axial membrane (PAAM) which completely sealed the atlanto-axial space. In the F13W stage, myofibrils of the suboccipital muscle fibers increased significantly in number. At the F14W stage, a gap was observed at the caudal end of the PAAM. Numerous myodural bridge-like structures were observed blending into the dura mater through the gap. At the F19W stage, muscle cells mature. Starting at the F21W stage, the MDB were observed as fibroblasts that cross the atlanto-axial interspace and attach to the dura mater. Therefore, the traction generated by the suboccipital muscles seems to promote the maturity of MDB. This study will provide new morphological knowledge to support future research on the function of the human MDB and regulating the development mechanism of MDB.

Oat rice with great sensory acceptance was developed based on the combination method of milling and defatting (petroleum ether) treatment. In this study, the effect of milling and defatting treatment on the texture and digestion properties of oat rice was investigated. Results showed that milling and defatting treatment enhanced stickiness, enthalpy, and starch digestibility. The pasting temperature and hardness of oat rice were reduced. The lipid content of oat rice was significantly reduced by milling and defatting treatment, leading to a decrease in the formation of starch-lipid complex. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that the application of milling and defatting treatments led to a reduction in the content of starch-lipid complexes in oats during the cooking process. Milling and defatting significantly enhanced both the rapid and slow digestion rates of oat rice. Specifically, the rapid digestion rate was found to be 2.5 times higher than the slow digestion rate. The nutritive components of oat rice were properly preserved, and the viscosity and elasticity of oat rice reached the maximum when milling for 40 s and defatting. This study provides a theoretical basis for oat products.

Abstract Background Glioma stem cells (GSCs) are responsible for glioma recurrence and drug resistance, yet the mechanisms underlying their maintenance remains unclear. This study aimed to identify enhancer-controlled genes involved in GSCs maintenance and elucidate the mechanisms underlying their regulation. Methods We analyzed RNA-seq data and H3K27ac ChIP-seq data from GSE119776 to identify differentially expressed genes and enhancers, respectively. Gene Ontology analysis was performed for functional enrichment. Transcription factors were predicted using the Toolkit for Cistrome Data Browser. Prognostic analysis and gene expression correlation was conducted using the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) data. Two GSC cell lines, GSC-A172 and GSC-U138MG, were isolated from A172 and U138MG cell lines. qRT-PCR was used to detect gene transcription levels. ChIP-qPCR was used to detect H3K27ac of enhancers, and binding of E2F4 to target gene enhancers. Western blot was used to analyze protein levels of p-ATR and γH2AX. Sphere formation, limiting dilution and cell growth assays were used to analyze GSCs growth and self-renewal. Results We found that upregulated genes in GSCs were associated with ataxia-telangiectasia-mutated-and-Rad3-related kinase (ATR) pathway activation, and that seven enhancer-controlled genes related to ATR pathway activation (LIN9, MCM8, CEP72, POLA1, DBF4, NDE1, and CDKN2C) were identified. Expression of these genes corresponded to poor prognosis in glioma patients. E2F4 was identified as a transcription factor that regulates enhancer-controlled genes related to the ATR pathway activation, with MCM8 having the highest hazard ratio among genes positively correlated with E2F4 expression. E2F4 bound to MCM8 enhancers to promote its transcription. Overexpression of MCM8 partially restored the inhibition of GSCs self-renewal, cell growth, and the ATR pathway activation caused by E2F4 knockdown. Conclusion Our study demonstrated that E2F4-mediated enhancer activation of MCM8 promotes the ATR pathway activation and GSCs characteristics. These findings offer promising targets for the development of new therapies for gliomas.

Since the first cloned sheep was produced in 1996, cloning has attracted considerable attention because of its great potential in animal breeding. Somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) is widely used for creating clones. However, SCNT is very complicated to manipulate and inevitably causes intracellular damage during manipulation. Typically, only less than 1% of reconstructed embryos develop into live cloned animals. This low success rate is considered to be the major limitation in the extensive application of cloning techniques. In this study, we proposed an intracellular strain evaluation-based oocyte enucleation method to reduce potential intracellular damage in SCNT. We first calculated the intracellular strain based on the intracellular velocity field and then used the intracellular strain as a criterion to improve the enucleation operation. We then developed a robotic batch SCNT system to apply this micromanipulation method to animal cloning. Experimental results showed that we increased the blastocyst rate from 10.0% to 20.8%, and we successfully produced 17 cloned piglets by robotic SCNT for the first time. The success rate of cloning was significantly increased compared to that of traditional methods (2.50% vs 0.73% on average). In addition to the cloning technique, the intracellular strain evaluation-based enucleation method is expected to be applicable to other biological operations and for establishing a universal cell manipulation protocol to reduce intracellular damage.

Pepino (Solanum muricatum), a horticultural crop that has experienced significant growth in the highlands of China over the past two decades, is widely embraced by consumers due to its distinctive taste and nutritional advantages. This study focused on the cultivar ‘Qingcanxiang’ of pepino grown on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau was analyzed using UPLC-QTOF-MS and RNA-seq transcriptome sequencing. Fruit samples were collected at three distinct stages of development, and the results of the metabolomics and transcriptomics were compared and correlated. The study’s findings indicate that the ‘Qingcanxiang’ fruit contained a total of 187 metabolites, comprising 12 distinct categories of compounds, including amino acids and their derivatives, organic acids, sugars and alcohols, phenols and phenolic acids. Of these metabolites, 94 were identified as differential. Significant variations in nutrient composition were observed across the three growth stages of the fruit. Specifically, the stage spanning from the growth to the maturation was identified as the critical stages for nutrient accumulation and flavor development. Transcriptome sequencing analysis revealed a set of highly associated genes between aspartate and quinic acid, namely SIR2, IRAK4, RP-L29, and CCNH. These genes are potentially involved in the regulation of both amino acid and phenolic acid synthesis. Through the application of metabolomics and transcriptomics, this investigation elucidates the alterations in metabolites and the underlying molecular regulatory mechanisms of pepino fruits during three growth stages. The findings furnish a theoretical foundation for the evaluation of nutritional quality and the enhancement of breeding strategies for pepino.

Compared with other oat products, consumers in China prefer oat rice and porridge made from naked oat. However, this oat product usually has poor sensory acceptance, which is directly related to the texture properties. This study aimed to use the milling method to improve the oat rice texture. The nutrient component, microstructure, pasting, and thermal properties of oat treated with different degrees of milling (0 s, 20 s, 40 s, 60 s, and 80 s) were researched. The results showed that milling would damage the bran layer of oat rice, increasing starch, β-glucan, total leached solids content, and the gelatinization enthalpy (ΔH). Meanwhile, oil, protein content, the pasting viscosity, and the pasting temperature were decreased. Milling made oat rice sticky and soft, and the bound water and non-flowing water migrated like flowing water. The cross-section of oat rice showed that milling damaged the surface of oat rice, which was beneficial to water entry and starch dissolution, and increased the viscosity of oat rice. When the milling time was 40 s and 60 s, the appearance, aroma, taste, texture, and overall acceptability of oat porridge were better. Moreover, rapid digestion fraction (k1) and slow digestion fraction (k2) are the lowest and have the effect of low blood glucose rise rate.

Pepino (Solanum muricatum), a member of the Solanaceae family originating from South America, is cultivated globally. However, the cultivation range and suitable habitat of Pepino have not been extensively studied, which hampers the further development of its cultivation industry. Therefore, we aimed at enrich and expand the planting scope of Pepino. Currently, the main cultivation areas of Pepino in China are the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau and the Loess Plateau, where the altitude is above 1000 m. In this study, ArcGIS combined with the MaxEnt model was used for prediction, whose area under curve value was 0.949. The main climatic factors affecting the distribution of Pepino are temperature seasonality, annual means temperature, mean temperature of the coldest quarter, elevation, isothermality, and the climate factors, and their cumulative contribution rate of 87.6%. Pepino's main potential distribution areas are located in Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau, Yunnan Province, Hexi Corridor of Loess Plateau, and low altitude areas of Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. The main distribution ranges from 1000 to 2000 m above sea level, and the total suitable area accounts for 20.09% of China's total land area. The prediction results reveal an expanded potential area for Pepino, with no significant migration in the central region of the main potential distribution area by 2050 and 2070. No studies have been conducted on the open-area cultivation of Pepino in northern China. Our findings revealed that the yield and quality in the four experimental sites and final actual cultivation conditions were consistent with the predicted results of MaxEnt. The yiel d per plant in Xunhua and Minhe was significantly different from that in Xining, which was low, and that in Minhe was the highest. Overall, the fruit quality in the Xining region was the lowest among the three regions, which was related to the climatic differences in each region. These results align with the predicted outcomes, indicating that Xining is the least suitable area. Further, these data verify the accuracy of the prediction results. The climate data of the four regions were analyzed simultaneously to elucidate the influence of different climate conditions on the growth of Pepino. Our findings are of considerable significance for introducing characteristic horticultural crops in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau and using the MaxEnt model to predict the cultivation range of crops.

ObjectiveNon-invasive methods for hemoglobin (Hb) monitoring can provide additional and relatively precise information between invasive measurements of Hb to help doctors' decision-making. We aimed to develop a new method for Hb monitoring based on mask R-CNN and MobileNetV3 with eye images as input.MethodsSurgical patients from our center were enrolled. After image acquisition and pre-processing, the eye images, the manually selected palpebral conjunctiva, and features extracted, respectively, from the two kinds of images were used as inputs. A combination of feature engineering and regression, solely MobileNetV3, and a combination of mask R-CNN and MobileNetV3 were applied for model development. The model's performance was evaluated using metrics such as R2, explained variance score (EVS), and mean absolute error (MAE).ResultsA total of 1,065 original images were analyzed. The model's performance based on the combination of mask R-CNN and MobileNetV3 using the eye images achieved an R2, EVS, and MAE of 0.503 (95% CI, 0.499–0.507), 0.518 (95% CI, 0.515–0.522) and 1.6 g/dL (95% CI, 1.6–1.6 g/dL), which was similar to that based on MobileNetV3 using the manually selected palpebral conjunctiva images (R2: 0.509, EVS:0.516, MAE:1.6 g/dL).ConclusionWe developed a new and automatic method for Hb monitoring to help medical staffs' decision-making with high efficiency, especially in cases of disaster rescue, casualty transport, and so on.

The objective of the paper is to compare the merits of the multiplication and max value schemes for producing a total focusing method (TFM) representation that combines multiple acoustic modes. We have chosen to compound phase coherence imaging (PCI) images because it eliminates the difficulties associated with handling vastly different acoustic sensitivities across different propagation modes. We also introduce an apodization-based algorithm that can filter out unwanted mode-conversion artifacts that are caused by similarities in time of flights. Experimental data were gathered on an electric resistance welding (ERW) hook crack and a natural bottom-surface-connected vertical crack. Experimental results indicate the multiplication scheme suppresses defect echoes that can only be imaged by a subset of acoustic modes. This can potentially lead to false negatives or underestimation of the extent of the defect. In contrast, the max value scheme retains all indications that appear in a subset of acoustic modes. For the vertical crack configuration imaged by shear wave acoustic modes, the max value scheme retains all mode-conversion artifacts and therefore complicates the defect analysis. The apodization-based filtering method significantly suppressed mode-conversion artifacts without affecting the imaging of the vertical crack. The combination of PCI with max value merging and apodization-based mode-conversion filtering is a promising methodology for merged mode TFM in shear wave weld inspections.
