In this paper, core loss characteristics of stator permanent-magnet (PM) machines are analyzed and calculated, in which the unique dc-biased magnetic induction is taken into account. The flux density variation patterns in some key points in a doubly salient PM (DSPM) machine are analyzed by the two-dimensional time-stepping finite-element method. To calculate the core loss of stator and other minor hysteresis loops under dc magnetic bias, core loss characteristics of silicon steel sheet under dc-biased induction condition are first tested by a simple test system based on traditional Epstein frame and a functional relationship between the change of dc-biased induction and hysteresis loss is proposed. Two core loss calculation methods considering rotational magnetization based on flux density waveform are improved to take the influence of dc-biased magnetic induction into consideration. The calculation results are verified by experiments on a prototype DSPM machine. The conclusions are also applicable to other kinds of stator PM machines. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

PURPOSE: To study the characters and etiology of oral ulcer and to propose the ways of prevention. METHODS: Summarize the 52 cases of oral ulcer in the earthquake area were summarized. RESULTS: The disease was related to the psychological tension, living regular and bad conditions. When the comprehensive therapies finished, the clinical curative rate was 82.7%(43/52), the efficacy was 15.4%(8/52), only one case was ineffective;. CONCLUSIONS: Those patients who were diagnosed oral ulcer in the earthquake area need comprehensive therapies, including getting rid of the intensive emotion, improving the living conditions and paying attention to rest. Quantum illumination has been proposed and demonstrated to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in light detection and ranging (LiDAR). When relying on coincidence detection alone, such a quantum LiDAR is limited by the timing jitter of the detector and suffers from jamming noise. Inspired by the Zou-Wang-Mandel experiment, we design, construct, and validate a quantum induced coherence (QuIC) LiDAR which is inherently immune to ambient and jamming noises. In traditional LiDAR the direct detection of the reflected probe photons suffers from deteriorating SNR for increasing background noise. In QuIC LiDAR we circumvent this obstacle by only detecting the entangled reference photons, whose single-photon interference fringes are used to obtain the distance of the object, while the reflected probe photons are used to erase path information of the reference photons. In consequence, the noise accompanying the reflected probe light has no effect on the detected signal. We demonstrate such noise resilience with both LED and laser light to mimic the background and jamming noise. The proposed method paves a new way of battling noise in precise quantum electromagnetic sensing and ranging.

Objective: To study the clinical features and recurrence factors of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody disease in children and the effect of recurrence prevention regimens., Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the medical data of 41 children with MOG antibody disease who were hospitalized in the Department of Pediatric Neurology, Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, from December 2014 to September 2020. According to the presence or absence of recurrence, they were divided into a monophasic course group ( n =19) and a recurrence group ( n =22). According to whether preventive treatment for recurrence was given, the children with recurrence were further divided into a preventive treatment group and a non-preventive treatment group. The clinical features were analyzed for all groups, and the annualized relapse rate (ARR) was compared before and after treatment with prevention regimens., Results: For these 41 children, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis was the most common initial manifestation and was observed in 23 children (56%). Of the 41 children, 22 (54%) experienced recurrence, with 57 recurrence events in total, among which optic neuritis was the most common event (17/57, 30%). The proportion of children in the recurrence group who were treated with corticosteroids for less than 3 months in the acute phase was higher than that in the monophasic course group (64% vs 32%; P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the ARR between the preventive treatment and non-preventive treatment groups ( P > 0.05). The assessment of preventive treatment regimens for 32 cases showed that the children treated with rituximab or azathioprine had a significant reduction in the ARR during treatment ( P < 0.05)., Conclusions: More than half of the children with MOG antibody disease may experience recurrence. Most children with recurrence are treated with corticosteroids for less than 3 months in the acute phase. Rituximab and azathioprine may reduce the risk of recurrence.

Although osteoarthritis (OA) has been traditionally regarded as a non-inflammatory disease, reports increasingly suggest that it is inflammatory, at least in certain patients. OA patients often exhibit inflammatory infiltration of synovial membranes by macrophages, T cells, mast cells, B cells, plasma cells, natural killer cells, dendritic cells, granulocytes, etc. Although previous reviews have summarized the knowledge of inflammation in the pathogenesis of OA, as far as we know, no report review our current understanding about T cells, especially, each T cell subtype, in the biology of OA. This review highlights the current understanding of the role of T cells in the pathogenesis of OA, with attention to Th1 cells, Th2 cells, Th9 cells, Th17 cells, Th22 cells, regulatory T cells, follicular helper T cells, cytotoxic T cells, T memory cells, and even unconventional T cells (e.g., γδ T cells and cluster of differentiation 1 restricted T cells). The findings highlight the importance of T cells to the development and progression of OA and suggest new therapeutic approaches for OA patients based on the manipulation of T-cell responses.

In this study we developed a tissue engineered bulking agent that consisted of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and silk fibroin microspheres to treat stress urinary incontinence caused by severe intrinsic sphincter deficiency (ISD). ISD models were established by completely transection of the bilateral pudendal nerve (PNT) and confirmed by the decreased leak-point pressure (LPP) and increased lumen area of urethra. Injection of silk fibroin microspheres could recover LPP and lumen area at 4 weeks but its efficacy disappears at 8, 12 weeks. Moreover, it was exciting to find that tissue engineered bulking agent brought long-term efficacy (at 4, 8, 12 weeks post-injection) on the recovery of LPP and lumen area. Concomitantly with the function, tissue engineered bulking agent treated group also improved the urethral sphincter structure as exhibited by better tissue regeneration. The findings showed that silk fibroin microspheres alone could work effectively in short-term, while tissue engineered bulking agent that combined silk fibroin microspheres with ADSCs exhibited promising long-term efficacy. The Title Compound (systematic Name: 8β-acet-oxy-14α-benzo-yloxy-N-ethyl-13β,15α-dihydr-oxy-1α,6α,16β-trimeth-oxy-4β-methoxy-methyl-eneaconitane), C(34)H(47)NO(10), is a typical aconitine-type C(19)-diterpenoid alkaloid, and was isolated from the roots of the Aconitum carmichaeli Debx. The mol-ecule has an aconitine carbon skeleton with four six-membered rings and two five-membered rings, whose geometry is similar to these observed in other C(19)-diterpenoid alkaloids; both of five-membered rings have the envelope configurations and the six-membered N-containing heterocyclic ring displays a chair conformation. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding occurs. Weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is observed in the crystal structure.

The conventional numerical computational techniques such as the finite element method (FEM) and the boundary element method (BEM) require laborious and time-consuming model meshing. The new meshless FEM only uses the boundary description and the node distribution and no meshing of the model is required. This paper presents the fundamentals and implementation of meshless FEM and the meshless FEM method is adapted to solve the electrocardiography (ECG) forward problem. The method is evaluated on a single-layer torso model, in which the analytical solution exists, and tested in a realistic geometry homogeneous torso model, with satisfactory results being obtained. The present results suggest that the meshless FEM may provide an alternative for ECG forward solutions.

We have developed a new magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT) algorithm, the RSM-MREIT algorithm, for noninvasive imaging of the electrical conductivity distribution using only one component of magnetic flux density. The proposed RSM-MREIT algorithm uses the response surface methodology (RSM) algorithm for optimizing the conductivity distribution through minimizing the errors between the measured and calculated magnetic flux densities. A series of computer simulations has been conducted to assess the performance of the proposed RSM-MREIT algorithm to estimate electrical conductivity values of the scalp, the skull and the brain tissue, in a three-shell piecewise homogeneous head model. Computer simulation studies were conducted in both a spherical and realistic-geometry head model with a single variable (the brain-to-skull conductivity ratio) and three variables (the conductivity of the brain, the skull, and the scalp). The relative error between the target and estimated head conductivity values was less than 12% for both the single-variable and three-variable simulations. These promising simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed RSM-MREIT algorithm in estimating electrical conductivity values in a piecewise homogeneous head model of the human head, and suggest that the RSM-MREIT algorithm merits further investigation.

We have developed a new algorithm for magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT), which uses only one component of the magnetic flux density to reconstruct the electrical conductivity distribution within the body. The radial basis function (RBF) network and simplex method are used in the present approach to estimate the conductivity distribution by minimizing the errors between the 'measured' and model-predicted magnetic flux densities. Computer simulations were conducted in a realistic-geometry head model to test the feasibility of the proposed approach. Single-variable and three-variable simulations were performed to estimate the brain-skull conductivity ratio and the conductivity values of the brain, skull and scalp layers. When SNR = 15 for magnetic flux density measurements with the target skull-to-brain conductivity ratio being 1/15, the relative error (RE) between the target and estimated conductivity was 0.0737 +/- 0.0746 in the single-variable simulations. In the three-variable simulations, the RE was 0.1676 +/- 0.0317. Effects of electrode position uncertainty were also assessed by computer simulations. The present promising results suggest the feasibility of estimating important conductivity values within the head from noninvasive magnetic flux density measurements.

We have developed a new three dimensional (3-D) conductivity imaging approach and have used it to detect human brain conductivity changes corresponding to acute cerebral stroke. The proposed Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography (MREIT) approach is based on the J-Substitution algorithm and is expanded to imaging 3-D subject conductivity distribution changes. Computer simulation studies have been conducted to evaluate the present MREIT imaging approach. Simulations of both types of cerebral stroke, hemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke, were performed on a four-sphere head model. Simulation results showed that the correlation coefficient (CC) and relative error (RE) between target and estimated conductivity distributions were 0.9245+/-0.0068 and 8.9997%+/-0.0084%, for hemorrhagic stroke, and 0.6748+/-0.0197 and 8.8986%+/-0.0089%, for ischemic stroke, when the SNR (signal-to-noise radio) of added GWN (Gaussian White Noise) was 40. The convergence characteristic was also evaluated according to the changes of CC and RE with different iteration numbers. The CC increases and RE decreases monotonously with the increasing number of iterations. The present simulation results show the feasibility of the proposed 3-D MREIT approach in hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke detection and suggest that the method may become a useful alternative in clinical diagnosis of acute cerebral stroke in humans.

A finite element algorithm has been developed to solve the electroencephalogram (EEG) forward problem. A new computationally efficient approach to calculate the stiffness matrix of second-order tetrahedral elements has been developed for second-order tetrahedral finite element models. The present algorithm has been evaluated by means of computer simulations, by comparing with analytic solutions in a multi-spheres concentric head model. The developed finite element method (FEM) algorithm has also been applied to address questions of interest in the EEG forward problem. The present simulation study indicates that the second-order FEM provides substantially enhanced numerical accuracy and computational efficiency, as compared with the first-order FEM for comparable numbers of tetrahedral elements. The anisotropic conductivity distribution of the head tissue can be taken into account in the present FEM algorithm. The effects of dipole eccentricity, size of finite elements and local mesh refinement on solution accuracy are also addressed in the present simulation study.

Irganox 1010 (pentaerythritol tetrakis[3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)] propionate) is successfully extracted from polypropylene using solvents at high temperatures and pressures in a homemade accelerated solvent extraction system. For example, using freeze-ground polymer, 90% extraction is possible within 5 min with 2-propanol at 150 °C. Extraction curves for 2-propanol and acetone fit well to the "hot ball" model, previously developed for supercritical fluid extraction. Diffusion coefficients are determined for extractions with 2-propanol, acetone, and cyclohexane over a range of temperatures, and the activation energies for the diffusion are 134, 107, and 61 kJ mol(-)(1), respectively. The lower figure for acetone and cyclohexane indicates that these solvents swell the polymer more than does 2-propanol. The polymer dissolves in the solvent at too high a temperature, which causes blockage of the transfer lines. For maximum extraction rates, the highest temperature for each solvent that avoids dissolution of the polymer should be used. The use of mixed solvents is investigated and shows advantages in some cases, with the aim of producing a solvent that will swell the polymer but not dissolve it.
