Unmanned aerial vehicle object detection (UAV-OD) has been widely used in various scenarios. However, most existing UAV-OD algorithms rely on manually designed components, which require extensive tuning. End-to-end models that do not depend on such manually designed components are mainly designed for natural images, which are less effective for UAV imagery. To address such challenges, this paper proposes an efficient detection transformer (DETR) framework tailored for UAV imagery, i.e., UAV-DETR. The framework includes a multi-scale feature fusion with frequency enhancement module, which captures both spatial and frequency information at different scales. In addition, a frequency-focused down-sampling module is presented to retain critical spatial details during down-sampling. A semantic alignment and calibration module is developed to align and fuse features from different fusion paths. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and generalization of our approach across various UAV imagery datasets. On the VisDrone dataset, our method improves AP by 3.1\% and $\text{AP}_{50}$ by 4.2\% over the baseline. Similar enhancements are observed on the UAVVaste dataset. Gas-phase molecules capable of repeatable, narrow-band spontaneous photon scattering are prized for direct laser cooling and quantum state detection. Recently, large molecules incorporating phenyl rings have been shown to exhibit similar vibrational closure to the small molecules demonstrated so far, and it is not yet known if the high vibrational-mode density of even larger species will eventually compromise optical cycling. Here, we systematically increase the size of hydrocarbon ligands attached to single alkaline-earth-phenoxides from (-H) to -C$_{14}$H$_{19}$ while measuring the vibrational branching fractions of the optical transition. We find that varying the ligand size from 1 to more than 30 atoms does not systematically reduce the cycle closure, which remains around 90%. Theoretical extensions to larger diamondoids and bulk diamond surface suggest that alkaline earth phenoxides may maintain the desirable scattering behavior as the system size grows further, with no indication of an upper limit., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures, SI(34 pages)

Quantum circuits offer a versatile platform for simulating digital quantum dynamics and uncovering novel states of non-equilibrium quantum matter. One principal example are measurement-induced phase transitions arising from non-unitary dynamics in monitored circuits, which employ mid-circuit measurements as an essential building block next to standard unitary gates. Although a comprehensive understanding of dynamics in generic circuits is still evolving, we contend that monitored quantum circuits yield robust phases of dynamic matter, which -- akin to Hamiltonian ground state phases -- can be categorized based on symmetries and spatial dimensionality. To illustrate this concept, we focus on quantum circuits within symmetry classes BDI and D, which are measurement-only adaptations of the paradigmatic Kitaev and Yao-Kivelson models, embodying particle-hole-symmetric Majorana fermions with or without time-reversal. We establish a general framework -- Majorana loop models -- for both symmetry classes to provide access to the phenomenology of the entanglement dynamics in these circuits, displaying both an area-law phase of localized Majorana loops and a delocalized, highly entangled Majorana liquid phase. The two phases are separated by a continuous transition displaying quantum Lifshitz scaling, albeit with critical exponents of two distinct universality classes. The loop model framework provides not only analytical understanding of these universality classes in terms of non-linear sigma models, but also allows for highly efficient numerical techniques capable of simulating excessively large circuits with up to $10^8$ qubits. We utilize this framework to accurately determine universal probes that distinguish both the entangled phases and the critical points of the two symmetry classes. Our work thereby further solidifies the concept of emergent circuit phases and their phase transitions.

Large language models (LLMs) have gained increasing popularity in robotic task planning due to their exceptional abilities in text analytics and generation, as well as their broad knowledge of the world. However, they fall short in decoding visual cues. LLMs have limited direct perception of the world, which leads to a deficient grasp of the current state of the world. By contrast, the emergence of visual language models (VLMs) fills this gap by integrating visual perception modules, which can enhance the autonomy of robotic task planning. Despite these advancements, VLMs still face challenges, such as the potential for task execution errors, even when provided with accurate instructions. To address such issues, this paper proposes a ReplanVLM framework for robotic task planning. In this study, we focus on error correction interventions. An internal error correction mechanism and an external error correction mechanism are presented to correct errors under corresponding phases. A replan strategy is developed to replan tasks or correct error codes when task execution fails. Experimental results on real robots and in simulation environments have demonstrated the superiority of the proposed framework, with higher success rates and robust error correction capabilities in open-world tasks. We investigate a fractional Chern insulator (FCI) candidate arising from Moir\'e bands with higher Chern number C=2 on a magic angle twisted bilayer checkboard lattice (MATBCB). There are two nearly flat low lying bands in the single particle energy spectrum under the first magic angle $\phi\approx 1.608^{\circ}$ and chiral limit. We find MATBCB hosts a nearly uniform Berry curvature distribution and exhibits tiny violation of quantum geometric trace condition in the first moir\'e Brillourin Zone (mBZ), indicating that there is a nearly ideal quantum geometry in MATBCB in single particle level. Turning on projected Coulomb interactions, we perform exact diagonalization and find a ten-fold ground state quasi-degeneracy in many body energy spectrum with filling fraction $\nu=1/5$. The ten-fold quasi-degenrate ground states further show spectra flow under flux pumping. By diagnosing the particle entanglement spectrum (PES) of the ground states, we obtain a clear PES gap and quasi-hole state counting consistent with Halperin spin singlet generalized Pauli principle, suggesting that a fractional Chern insulator is realized in this system., Comment: 13 pages, 9 figures

Accurate visual understanding is imperative for advancing autonomous systems and intelligent robots. Despite the powerful capabilities of vision-language models (VLMs) in processing complex visual scenes, precisely recognizing obscured or ambiguously presented visual elements remains challenging. To tackle such issues, this paper proposes InsightSee, a multi-agent framework to enhance VLMs' interpretative capabilities in handling complex visual understanding scenarios. The framework comprises a description agent, two reasoning agents, and a decision agent, which are integrated to refine the process of visual information interpretation. The design of these agents and the mechanisms by which they can be enhanced in visual information processing are presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the InsightSee framework not only boosts performance on specific visual tasks but also retains the original models' strength. The proposed framework outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms in 6 out of 9 benchmark tests, with a substantial advancement in multimodal understanding.

With their prominent scene understanding and reasoning capabilities, pre-trained visual-language models (VLMs) such as GPT-4V have attracted increasing attention in robotic task planning. Compared with traditional task planning strategies, VLMs are strong in multimodal information parsing and code generation and show remarkable efficiency. Although VLMs demonstrate great potential in robotic task planning, they suffer from challenges like hallucination, semantic complexity, and limited context. To handle such issues, this paper proposes a multi-agent framework, i.e., GameVLM, to enhance the decision-making process in robotic task planning. In this study, VLM-based decision and expert agents are presented to conduct the task planning. Specifically, decision agents are used to plan the task, and the expert agent is employed to evaluate these task plans. Zero-sum game theory is introduced to resolve inconsistencies among different agents and determine the optimal solution. Experimental results on real robots demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed framework, with an average success rate of 83.3%.

Teleportation is a facet where quantum measurements can act as a powerful resource in quantum physics, as local measurements allow to steer quantum information in a non-local way. While this has long been established for a single Bell pair, the teleportation of a many-qubit entangled state using non-maximally entangled resources presents a fundamentally different challenge. Here we investigate a tangible protocol for teleporting a long-range entangled surface code state using elementary Bell measurements and its stability in the presence of coherent errors that weaken the Bell entanglement. We relate the underlying threshold problem to the physics of anyon condensation under weak measurements and map it to a variant of the Ashkin-Teller model of statistical mechanics with Nishimori type disorder, which gives rise to a cascade of phase transitions. Tuning the angle of the local Bell measurements, we find a continuously varying threshold. Notably, the threshold moves to infinity for the $X+Z$ angle along the self-dual line -- indicating that infinitesimally weak entanglement is sufficient in teleporting a self-dual topological surface code. Our teleportation protocol, which can be readily implemented in dynamically configurable Rydberg atom arrays, thereby gives guidance for a practical demonstration of the power of quantum measurements., Comment: 7 + 5 pages; 5 + 3 figures

From the perspective of quantum many-body physics, the Floquet code of Hastings and Haah can be thought of as a measurement-only version of the Kitaev honeycomb model where a periodic sequence of two-qubit XX, YY, and ZZ measurements dynamically stabilizes a toric code state with two logical qubits. However, the most striking feature of the Kitaev model is its intrinsic fractionalization of quantum spins into an emergent gauge field and itinerant Majorana fermions that form a Dirac liquid, which is absent in the Floquet code. Here we demonstrate that by varying the measurement strength of the honeycomb Floquet code one can observe features akin to the fractionalization physics of the Kitaev model at finite temperature. Introducing coherent errors to weaken the measurements we observe three consecutive stages that reveal qubit fractionalization (for weak measurements), the formation of a Majorana liquid (for intermediate measurement strength), and Majorana pairing together with gauge ordering (for strong measurements). Our analysis is based on a mapping of the imperfect Floquet code to random Gaussian fermionic circuits (networks) that can be Monte Carlo sampled, exposing two crossover peaks. With an eye on circuit implementations, our analysis demonstrates that the Floquet code, in contrast to the toric code, does not immediately break down to a trivial state under weak measurements, but instead gives way to a long-range entangled Majorana liquid state., Comment: 5 + 6 pages; 3 + 9 figures

Polyatomic molecules equipped with optical cycling centers (OCCs), enabling continuous photon scattering during optical excitation, are exciting candidates for advancing quantum information science. However, as these molecules grow in size and complexity the interplay of complex vibronic couplings on optical cycling becomes a critical, but relatively unexplored consideration. Here, we present an extensive exploration of Fermi resonances in large OCC-containing molecules, surpassing the constraints of harmonic approximation. High-resolution dispersed laser-induced fluorescence and excitation spectroscopy reveal Fermi resonances in calcium and strontium phenoxides and their derivatives. This resonance manifests as vibrational coupling leading to intensity borrowing by combination bands near optically active harmonic bands. The resulting additional vibration-changing decays require more repumping lasers for effective optical cycling. To mitigate these effects, we explore altering vibrational energy level spacing through substitutions on the phenyl ring or changes in the OCC itself. While the complete elimination of vibrational coupling in complex molecules remains challenging, our findings underscore the potential for significant mitigation, opening new avenues for optimizing optical cycling in large polyatomic molecules., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, 1 table, SI (15 pages)

Charge transfer in type-II heterostructures plays important roles in determining device performance for photovoltaic and photocatalytic applications. However, current theoretical studies of charge transfer process don't consider the effects of operating conditions such as illuminations and yield systemically larger interlayer transfer time of hot electrons in MoS2/WS2 compared to experimental results. Here in this work, we propose a general picture that, illumination can induce interfacial dipoles in type-II heterostructures, which can accelerate hot carrier transfer by reducing the energy difference between the electronic states in separate materials and enhancing the nonadiabatic couplings. Using the first-principles calculations and the ab-initio nonadiabatic molecular dynamics, we demonstrate this picture using MoS2/WS2 as a prototype. The calculated characteristic time for the interlayer transfer (60 fs) and the overall relaxation (700 fs) processes of hot electrons is in good agreement with the experiments. We further find that illumination mainly affects the ultrafast interlayer transfer process but has little effects on the relatively slow intralayer relaxation process. Therefore, the overall relaxation process of hot electrons has a saturated time with increased illumination strengths. The illumination-accelerated charge transfer is expected to universally exist in type-II heterostructures.

Illumination has been long known to affect semiconductor defect properties during either growth or operating process. Current theories of studying the illumination effects on defects usually have the assumption of unaffected formation energies of neutral defects as well as defect transition energy levels, and use the quasi-Fermi levels to describe behaviors of excess carriers with conclusions at variance. In this work, we first propose a method to simulate steady illumination conditions, based on which we demonstrate that formation energies of neutral defects and defect transition energy levels are insensitive to illumination. Then, we show that optical and thermal excitation of electrons can be seen equivalent with each other to reach a steady electron distribution in a homogeneous semiconductor. Consequently, the electron distribution can be characterized using just one effective temperature T' and one universal Fermi level E_F' for a homogeneous semiconductor under continuous and steady illuminations, which can be seen as a combination of quasi-equilibrium electron system with T' and a lattice system with T. Using the new concepts, we uncover the universal mechanisms of illumination effects on charged defects by treating the band edge states explicitly in the same footing as the defect states. We find that the formation energies of band edge 'defect' states shift with increased T' of electrons, thus affecting the E_F', changing defect ionic probabilities, and affecting concentrations of charged defects. We apply our theory to study the illumination effects on the doping behaviors in GaN:Mg and CdTe:Sb, obtaining results in accordance with experimental observations. More interesting experimental defect-related phenomena under steady illuminations are expected to be understood from our theory.

The fission of a string connecting two charges is an astounding phenomenon in confining gauge theories. The dynamics of this process have been studied intensively in recent years, with plenty of numerical results yielding a dichotomy: the confining string can decay relatively fast or persist up to extremely long times. Here, we put forward a dynamical localization transition as the mechanism underlying this dichotomy. To this end, we derive an effective string breaking description in the light-meson sector of a confined spin chain and show that the problem can be regarded as a dynamical localization transition in Fock space. Fast and suppressed string breaking dynamics are identified with delocalized and localized behavior, respectively. We then provide a further reduction of the dynamical string breaking problem onto a quantum impurity model, where the string is represented as an "impurity" immersed in a meson bath. It is shown that this model features a localization-delocalization transition, giving a general and simple physical basis to understand the qualitatively distinct string breaking regimes. These findings are directly relevant for a wider class of confining lattice models in any dimension and could be realized on present-day Rydberg quantum simulators., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

Monitored quantum circuits allow for unprecedented dynamical control of many-body entanglement. Here we show that random, measurement-only circuits, implementing the competition of bond and plaquette couplings of the Kitaev honeycomb model, give rise to a structured volume-law entangled phase with subleading $L \ln L$ liquid scaling behavior. This interacting Majorana liquid takes up a highly-symmetric, spherical parameter space within the entanglement phase diagram obtained when varying the relative coupling probabilities. The sphere itself is a critical boundary with quantum Lifshitz scaling separating the volume-law phase from proximate area-law phases, a color code or a toric code. An exception is a set of tricritical, self-dual points exhibiting effective (1+1)d conformal scaling at which the volume-law phase and both area-law phases meet. From a quantum information perspective, our results define error thresholds for the color code in the presence of projective error and stochastic syndrome measurements. We report the production and spectroscopic characterization of strontium (I) phenoxide ($\mathrm{SrOC}_6\mathrm{H}_5$, or SrOPh) and variants featuring electron-withdrawing groups designed to suppress vibrational excitation during spontaneous emission from the electronically excited state. Optical cycling closure of these species, which is the decoupling of vibrational state changes from spontaneous optical decay, is found by dispersed laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy to be high, in accordance with theoretical predictions. A high-resolution, rotationally-resolved laser excitation spectrum is recorded for SrOPh, allowing the estimation of spectroscopic constants and identification of candidate optical cycling transitions for future work. In the field of monitored quantum circuits, it has remained an open question whether finite-time protocols for preparing long-range entangled states lead to phases of matter which are stable to gate imperfections, which can convert projective into weak measurements. Here we show that in certain cases, long-range entanglement persists in the presence of weak measurements, and gives rise to novel forms of quantum criticality. We demonstrate this explicitly for preparing the two-dimensional Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger cat state and the three-dimensional toric code as minimal instances. In contrast to the monitored random unitary circuits, In contrast to random monitored circuits, our circuit of gates and measurements is deterministic; the only randomness is in the measurement outcomes. We show how the randomness in these weak measurements allows us to track the solvable Nishimori line of the random-bond Ising model, rigorously establishing the stability of the glassy long-range entangled states in two and three spatial dimensions. Away from this exactly solvable construction, we use hybrid tensor network and Monte Carlo simulations to obtain a nonzero Edwards-Anderson order parameter as an indicator of long-range entanglement in the two-dimensional scenario. We argue that our protocol admits a natural implementation in existing quantum computing architectures, requiring only a depth-3 circuit on IBM's heavy-hexagon transmon chips., Comment: 4.5 + 10 pages, 2 + 8 figures
