ZSM-5 zeolite is a kind of high-value-added porous aluminosilicate zeolite. The use of the coal gasification slag utilization process by-product desilication liquid as a silicon raw material to replace the current raw materials such as water glass will help reduce production costs and achieve high-value utilization of solid waste. ZSM-5 zeolites for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) adsorption were prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method using the desilication solution prepared from coal gasification slag as the main silicon source and sodium source. The effects of crystallization reaction time, the crystallization temperature, the Na2O/SiO2 molar ratio, and the SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio on the relative crystallinity and the specific surface area of the ZSM-5 zeolite were investigated and optimized. The optical reaction conditions were as follows: a crystallization time of 12 h, a crystallization temperature of 170 °C, a Na2O/SiO2 molar ratio of 0.2, and a SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of 200. The optimal ZSM-5 zeolite synthesized is hexagonal, with regular grains, a relative crystallinity of 101.48%, a specific surface area of 337.48 m2·g−1, and a pore volume of 0.190 cm3·g−1. And the optimal ZSM-5 zeolite was composed of SiO2 content of 97.52 wt%, Al2O3 content of 1.58 wt%, Na2O content of 0.33 wt%, and SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of 104.93. Na2O/SiO2 molar ratio is 0.0033. The results of static adsorption experiments show that the static adsorption capacities of ZSM-5 zeolite for p-xylene, benzene, toluene, and butyl acetate were 118.85, 69.98, 68.74, and 95.85 mg·g−1, respectively, which can effectively adsorb VOCs. The synthetic process of the ZSM-5 zeolite is a simple preparation process and short in synthesis time. The results of this study not only help to realize the high-value utilization of silicon components in solid waste, but also provide an economical and effective way to synthesize VOCs adsorption materials. High alkaline desilication solution (DSS), a high volume byproduct from the pretreatment of high‐alumina fly ash, was used as low‐cost mother liquor for the synthesis of calcium silicate hydrate (C‐S‐H). Through the combined analysis of X‐ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, X‐ray fluorescence, 29Si MAS NMR, and Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller, the relationship between chemical composition and structure of C‐S‐H synthesized under Ca/Si of 0.83:1 to 2.0:1 was investigated. Silicon conversion and yield of product have a positive correlation with Ca/Si. Sodium uptake in C‐S‐H is inhibited as Ca/Si increases. The formation of sodium in C‐S‐H transfers from "bound Na" to "mobile Na" and aluminum from tetrahedrally coordinated Al (IV) to octahedrally coordinated Al (VI). The increase of Ca/Si leads to shortening of silicate chain and formation of more dimers, which causes more water bound in C‐S‐H. The mechanism of calcium addition on silicate chain obtained from DFT calculation primarily results from more interlayer calcium occurrence to affect bridging tetrahedron and cationic bounding states reorganization. Abstract: Clean synthesis of dimethylhexane‐1,6‐dicarbamate (HDC) from methoxycarbonylation of 1,6‐hexanediamine (HDA) with dimethyl carbonate (DMC) was studied. Among several heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts, Mn(OAc)2 was screened as the most effective catalyst over which the kinetic balance could be reached within 2–3 h. Then the kinetic model of the methoxycarbonylation of HDA with DMC using Mn(OAc)2 catalyst, under the real reaction conditions was established. Results indicated that the reaction orders were confirmed to be 4.5 for the first step reaction and 4.3 for the second step reaction by the numerical differential method. In addition, the activation energies for the first and second step reaction were 47.0514 and 60.4504 kJ·mol−1 and the frequency factors were 1.4645 × 102 and 3.6519 × 104 min−1, respectively. Moreover, the kinetic model correlated well with experimental data. This study not only provides a highly efficient catalyst for the methoxycarbonylation of HDA with DMC but also gives the guidance for the design of the reactor by studying its kinetic under real reaction conditions. The direct extraction of alumina from secondary aluminum dross (SAD), which is a dangerous solid waste, is difficult. Moreover, this process easily produces a large amount of solid waste residue, which is not easily utilized. In this paper, a new green process was developed to prepare calcium aluminate and Mg‐Al spinel from SAD by hydrolysis–calcification roasting. The effects of calcium oxide (CaO) content, sintering temperature, and holding time on the properties of calcium aluminate were investigated by single‐factor experiments. The phase transformation mechanism of calcium aluminate was studied by thermodynamic analysis, X‐ray diffraction analysis, X‐ray fluorescence spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Under the optimal conditions (Ca/Al molar ratio of 0.8, sintering temperature of 1300°C, and holding time of 2 h), the main calcium aluminate phases are CaAl2O4 and Ca2Al2SiO7, the soluble alumina content of the calcium aluminate sample is 49.71 wt.%, and the main phases of the acid‐insoluble residue are Mg‐Al spinel and a very small amount of CaTiO3. The Ca/Al ratio is the key factor affecting the calcium aluminate phase—with increasing Ca/Al ratio, the calcium aluminate phase is transformed from CaAl4O7 to CaAl2O4 and eventually to Ca12Al14O33, and the Si‐containing phase changes from Ca2Al2SiO7 to CaSiO4. Wet-process phosphoric acid is a fundamental process in the fertilizer industry. The influence of impurities on crystallization kinetics of CaSO 4 was investigated in the Ca(H 2 PO 4 ) 2 -H 2 SO 4 -H 3 PO 4 -H 2 O system using a mixed suspension mixed product removal crystallizer. Effects of Si, Al, Fe, Mg, K, and Na on crystal morphology and structure were examined in the highly acidic system through scanning electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Results show that the increase of Mg, K, and Na content facilitates crystal growth. Si, Al, and Fe are beneficial to CaSO 4 crystal growth at a certain concentration range. Impurities also affect the crystal morphology, and the addition of Si, Fe, and Na promotes the formation of needle-like crystals compared with other impurities. X-ray diffraction results show that the preferred crystal growth direction is (020), and the interplanar spacing of the crystals is affected by the element radius of the impurities., Competing Interests: The authors declare no competing financial interest.
