Abstract

Palladium‐catalyzed bicyclization of 1‐(2,2‐dibromovinyl)‐2‐alkenylbenzene with allenyl malonates has been achieved to afford a series of bicyclic compounds. 6. Pentafluorosulfanylation of Acrylamides: The Synthesis of SF5-Containing Isoquinolinediones with SF5Cl

Abstract

We disclose herein an efficient and facile method for the synthesis of SF5-containing isoquinolinediones with an all-carbon quaternary stereocenter via intramolecular pentafluorosulfanylation of acrylamides using SF5Cl as a pentafluorosulfanylation reagent. The protocol proceeds under mild reaction conditions and enjoys a broad substrate scope, wide functional group compatibility, and high atom- and step-economy. A radical mechanism involving the SF5radical cascade addition/cyclization of acrylamides is proposed.

Abstract

A strategy for the synthesis of isoquinolylselenocyanates and quinolylselenocyanates through electrophilic selenocyanogen cyclization has been developed. The feature of this reaction is that the sequential process was induced directly by generated in situ pseudohalogen (SeCN)2 generated in situ. This volume consists of the proceedings of the Third International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians, held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in December 2004. The Congress brought together eminent Chinese and overseas mathematicians to discuss the latest developments in pure and applied mathematics. This two-part proceedings contains the contents of lectures given by the plenary speakers and the invited speakers—the major portion comprising new results—together with some expository and survey articles. 21. Viscous Approximations and Decay Rate of Maximal Vorticity Function for 3-D Axisymmetric Euler Equations

Abstract

In this paper, we are first concerned with viscous approximations for the three-dimensional axisymmetric incompressible Euler equations. It is proved that the viscous approximations, which are the solutions of the corresponding Navier-Stokes equations, converge strongly in $$ L^{2} {\left( {{\left[ {0,T} \right]};L^{2}_{{loc}} {\left( {R^{3} } \right)}} \right)} $$ provided that they have strong convergence in the region away from the symmetry axis. This result has been proved by the authors for the approximate solutions generated by smoothing the initial data, with no restriction of the sign of the initial data. Then we discuss the decay rate for maximal vorticity function, which is established for both approximate solutions generated by smoothing the initial data and viscous approximations respectively. One sufficient condition to guarantee the strong convergence in the region away from the symmetry axis is given, and a decay rate for maximal vorticity function in the region away from the symmetry axis is obtained for non-negative initial vorticity.

26. Palladium-Catalyzed Carbene Migratory Insertion and Trapping with Sulfinic Acid Salts toward Allylic Sulfones

Abstract

Allylic sulfones were synthesized with excellent selectivity and good yield via Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling of vinyl iodide with N-tosylhydrazone. This process involves palladium carbene migratory insertion/trapping with sulfinic acid salts. For the previous Pd-catalyzed N-tosylhydrazone cross-coupling, sulfinic acid salt is generated as a byproduct. In this transformation, the diazo compound and the sulfinic acid salt, which are all generated from N-tosylhydrazone, were used as cross-coupling partner.
