The Shunbei 5 (SB5) strike-slip fault, situated in the central Tarim basin, is distinguished by its considerable length, significant variations in planar orientation, and intricate multi-stage tectonic evolution. This study delves into the geometric, kinematic, and dynamic features of both the southern and northern parts of the SB5 fault, utilizing the latest seismic data from the Fuman Oilfield, and examines the factors influencing the fault’s planar deflection. The fault can be categorized into three structural deformation layers based on lithological features and fault features: the deep structural deformation layer (below TЄ3), characterized by basement rifting and limited strike-slip activity; the middle structural deformation layer (TЄ3-TO3), marked by vigorous strike-slip movements and the dominance of flower structures; and the shallow structural deformation layer (TO3-TP), featuring echelon-type normal faults and boundary graben faults, specifically in the southern SB5 fault. The fault activity is more pronounced in its southern SB5 fault compared to the northern, with the weakest activity at the TЄ3 interface and the peak at the TO3 interface. The southern SB5 fault transitions to sinistral slip at the TO3 interface, while the northern SB5 fault shifts from dextral to sinistral slip at the TC interface, highlighting variable slip directions across different interfaces. Rifts are extensively distributed within the Precambrian basement along the SB5 fault. The initial strike-slip fault rupture, which is primarily localized in these areas, exerts a significant influence on the formation of the S-shaped fault plane. This process involves four distinct evolution stages: the embryonic stage of strike-slip activity during the Middle-Late Cambrian; the intense strike-slip fault activity stage during the Middle-Late Ordovician; the reactivation stage of deep strike-slip fault in the Silurian; and the connection and reactivation stage during the Devonian-Carboniferous.

In the central Tarim Basin, numerous hydrocarbon deposits were found along ultra-deep strike-slip faults, and its evolving progress and formation mechanism are research hotspots. The Paleozoic small-angle X-type strike-slip fault in the Tabei Uplift is the research subject in this article. Based on high-precision three-dimensional seismic data, three structural deformation layers were revealed: the rift system, weak strike-slip deformation and salt tectonics in the deep structural layer (Sinian–Middle Cambrian), the strong strike-slip deformation and karst-dissolution structure in the middle structural layer (Upper Cambrian–Middle Ordovician), and echelon normal faults in the shallow structural layer (Upper Ordovician–Carboniferous). The formation and evolution of strike-slip faults is jointly controlled by the distribution pattern of basement rift and the activities of surrounding orogenic belts, which can be divided into three stages. In the Middle to Late Cambrian, the initial subduction of the Paleo-Asian and Proto-Tethyan oceans precipitated the emergence of two sets of small-angle X-type strike-slip faults, striking NW and NE above the grooves of Precambrian rifts, influenced by local weak compressive stress. Affected by the closure of peripheral paleo-ocean, strike-slip faults deformed considerably in the Middle–Late Ordovician and were reactivated in the Silurian–Carboniferous, forming en-echelon normal faults in the shallow layer. The layered deformation structure of the strike-slip faults significantly affects the accumulation of hydrocarbons. The differential hydrocarbon enrichment of faults in the Tabei Uplift is collectively influenced by the distribution of source rocks and the migration of oil and gas. The topographical features of the Tabei Uplift, along with the distribution of strike-slip faults across tectonic units, have rendered the NE direction the preferential pathway for hydrocarbon migration. Additionally, impacted by the development of en echelon faults, the NE-trending faults offer superior conditions for hydrocarbon preservation and charging condition, compared to the NW-trending faults.

BackgroundProstate cancer (PCa) is the second most prevalent malignant tumor in male, and bone metastasis occurs in about 70% of patients with advanced disease. The STING pathway, an innate immune signaling mechanism, has been shown to play a key role in tumorigenesis, metastasis, and cancerous bone pain. Hence, exploring regulatory mechanism of STING in PCa bone metastasis will bring novel opportunities for treating PCa bone metastasis.MethodsFirst, key genes were screened from STING-related genes (SRGs) based on random forest algorithm and their predictive performance was evaluated. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis of key genes was performed to explore their roles in prostate carcinogenesis, metastasis and tumor immunity. Next, cellular experiments were performed to verify the role of RELA in proliferation and migration in PCa cells, meanwhile, based on immunohistochemistry, we verified the difference of RELA expression between PCa primary foci and bone metastasis. Finally, based on the key genes to construct an accurate and reliable nomogram, and mined targeting drugs of key genes.ResultsIn this study, three key genes for bone metastasis were mined from SRGs based on the random forest algorithm. Evaluation analysis showed that the key genes had excellent prediction performance, and it also showed that the key genes played a key role in carcinogenesis, metastasis and tumor immunity in PCa by comprehensive analysis. In addition, cellular experiments and immunohistochemistry confirmed that overexpression of RELA significantly inhibited the proliferation and migration of PCa cells, and RELA was significantly low-expression in bone metastasis. Finally, the constructed nomogram showed excellent predictive performance in Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC, AUC = 0.99) curve, calibration curve, and Decision Curve Analysis (DCA) curve; and the targeted drugs showed good molecular docking effects.ConclusionIn sum, this study not only provides a new theoretical basis for the mechanism of PCa bone metastasis, but also provides novel therapeutic targets and novel diagnostic tools for advanced PCa treatment.

Characterized by severe deficits in communication, most individuals with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) experience significant language dysfunctions, thereby impacting their overall quality of life. Wernicke's area, a classical and traditional brain region associated with language processing, plays a substantial role in the manifestation of language impairments. The current study carried out a mega-analysis to attain a comprehensive understanding of the neural mechanisms underpinning ASC, particularly in the context of language processing. The study employed the Autism Brain Image Data Exchange (ABIDE) dataset, which encompasses data from 443 typically developing (TD) individuals and 362 individuals with ASC. The objective was to detect abnormal functional connectivity (FC) between Wernicke's area and other language-related functional regions, and identify frequency-specific altered FC using Wernicke's area as the seed region in ASC. The findings revealed that increased FC in individuals with ASC has frequency-specific characteristics. Further, in the conventional frequency band (0.01–0.08 Hz), individuals with ASC exhibited increased FC between Wernicke's area and the right thalamus compared with TD individuals. In the slow-5 frequency band (0.01–0.027 Hz), increased FC values were observed in the left cerebellum Crus II and the right lenticular nucleus, pallidum. These results provide novel insights into the potential neural mechanisms underlying communication deficits in ASC from the perspective of language impairments.

Osteosarcoma(OS) is a common primary malignant bone tumor, which mostly occurs in children and adolescents. Currently, chemotherapy drugs for the clinical treatment of OS have high side effects and patients are prone to chemotherapy resistance, which reduces the therapeutic effect. Therefore, the development of new therapeutic drugs is very important to reduce the toxicity and adverse reactions of drugs and improve the survival rate of patients. At present, the antitumor activity of traditional Chinese medicine monomers has received extensive attention because of its safety and efficacy. Asiatic acid (AA) is a naturally pentacyclic triterpenoids extracted from Centella asiatica. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect and mechanism of AA on OS cells in vitro and in vivo. In vitro results showed that AA inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of OS cells and was able to induce apoptosis and cycle arrest. In vivo results showed that AA inhibited the growth of OS and the size of lung metastasis in nude mice. Network pharmacology, molecular docking and in vitro experiments prove that AA may play a role in the treatment of OS by inhibiting PI3K/AKT and NF-κB signaling pathways. Our study shows that AA can act on multiple targets of OS and regulate multiple pathways to intervene in the occurrence and development of OS, which may provide reference for the clinical application and development of AA.

Through fault structure analysis and chronology study, we discuss the origin and growth mechanisms of strike-slip faults in the Tarim Basin. (1) Multiple stages strike-slip faults with inherited growth were developed in the central Tarim cratonic basin. The faults initiation time is constrained at the end of Middle Ordovician of about 460 Ma according to U-Pb dating of the fault cements and seismic interpretation. (2) The formation of the strike-slip faults was controlled by the near N-S direction stress field caused by far-field compression of the closing of the Proto-Tethys Ocean. (3) The faults localization and characteristics were influenced by the pre-existing structures of the NE trending weakening zones in the basement and lithofacies change from south to north. (4) Following the fault initiation under the Andersonian mechanism, the strike-slip fault growth was dominantly fault linkage, associated with fault tip propagation and interaction of non-Andersonian mechanisms. (5) Sequential slip accommodated deformation in the conjugate strike-slip fault interaction zones, strong localization of the main displacement and deformation occurred in the overlap zones in the northern Tarim, while the fault tips, particularly of narrow-deep grabens, and strike-slip segments in thrust zones accumulated more deformation and strain in the Central uplift. In conclusion, non-Andersonian mechanisms, dominantly fault linkage and interaction, resulted in the small displacement but long intraplate strike-slip fault development in the central Tarim Basin. The regional and localized field stress, and pre-existing structures and lithofacies difference had strong impacts on the diversity of the strike-slip faults in the Tarim cratonic basin.

This paper presents a new meteorological photo classification system based on the Multi-channel Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and improved Frame Difference Method (FDM). This system can work in an embedded system with limited computational resources and categorize cloud observation photos captured by ground cameras. We propose the improved FDM extractor to detect and extract cloud-like objects from large photos into small images. Then, these small images are sent to a Multi-channel CNN image classifier. We construct the classifier and train it on the photo-set that we established. After combining the extractor and classifier to form the classification system, the images can be classified into three different types of clouds, namely, cumulus, cirrus and stratus, based on their meteorological features. The testing phase uses 200 actual photos of real scenes as the experimental data. The results show that the classification accuracy can reach 94%, which indicates that the system has a competitive classification ability. Moreover, the time cost and computational resource consumption for image recognition are greatly reduced. By using this system, meteorologists can lighten their workload of processing meteorological data.

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) reversion refers to patients with MCI who revert from MCI to a normal cognitive state. Exploring the underlying neuromechanism of MCI reverters may contribute to providing new insights into the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease and developing therapeutic interventions. Information on patients with MCI and healthy controls (HCs) was collected from the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database. We redefined MCI reverters as patients with MCI whose logical memory scores changed from MCI to normal levels using the logical memory criteria. We explored intrinsic brain activity alterations in MCI reverters from voxel, regional, and whole-brain levels by comparing resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging metrics of the amplitude of low-frequency of fluctuation (ALFF), the fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF), percent amplitude of fluctuation (PerAF), regional homogeneity (ReHo), and degree centrality (DC) between MCI reverters and HCs. Finally, partial correlation analyses were conducted between cognitive scale scores and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging metrics of brain regions, revealing significant group differences. Thirty-two patients with MCI from the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database were identified as reverters. Thirty-seven age-, sex-, and education-matched healthy individuals were also enrolled. At the voxel level, compared with the HCs, MCI reverters had increased ALFF, fALFF, and PerAF in the frontal gyrus (including the bilateral orbital inferior frontal gyrus and left middle frontal gyrus), increased PerAF in the left fusiform gyrus, and decreased ALFF and fALFF in the right inferior cerebellum. Regarding regional and whole-brain levels, MCI reverters showed increased ReHo in the left fusiform gyrus and right median cingulate and paracingulate gyri; increased DC in the left inferior temporal gyrus and left medial superior frontal; decreased DC in the right inferior cerebellum and bilateral insular gyrus relative to HCs. Furthermore, significant correlations were found between cognitive performance and neuroimaging changes. These findings suggest that MCI reverters show significant intrinsic brain activity changes compared with HCs, potentially related to the cognitive reversion of patients with MCI. These results enhance our understanding of the underlying neuromechanism of MCI reverters and may contribute to further exploration of Alzheimer’s disease.

Background. Transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a known risk factor for stroke. Abnormal alterations in the low-frequency range of the gray matter (GM) of the brain have been studied in patients with TIA. However, whether there are abnormal neural activities in the low-frequency range of the white matter (WM) in patients with TIA remains unknown. The current study applied two resting-state metrics to explore functional abnormalities in the low-frequency range of WM in patients with TIA. Furthermore, a reinforcement learning method was used to investigate whether altered WM function could be a diagnostic indicator of TIA. Methods. We enrolled 48 patients with TIA and 41 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs). Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and clinical/physiological/biochemical data were collected from each participant. We compared the group differences between patients with TIA and HCs in the low-frequency range of WM using two resting-state metrics: amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) and fractional ALFF (fALFF). The altered ALFF and fALFF values were defined as features of the reinforcement learning method involving a Q-learning algorithm. Results. Compared with HCs, patients with TIA showed decreased ALFF in the right cingulate gyrus/right superior longitudinal fasciculus/left superior corona radiata and decreased fALFF in the right cerebral peduncle/right cingulate gyrus/middle cerebellar peduncle. Based on these two rs-fMRI metrics, an optimal Q-learning model was obtained with an accuracy of 82.02%, sensitivity of 85.42%, specificity of 78.05%, precision of 82.00%, and area under the curve (AUC) of 0.87. Conclusion. The present study revealed abnormal WM functional alterations in the low-frequency range in patients with TIA. These results support the role of WM functional neural activity as a potential neuromarker in classifying patients with TIA and offer novel insights into the underlying mechanisms in patients with TIA from the perspective of WM function.

This study is aimed at investigating the characteristics of the spontaneous brain activity in patients with myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1). A total of 18 patients with DM1 and 18 healthy controls (HCs) were examined by resting-state functional MRI. Combined methods include amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFFs), the fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFFs), and Wavelet transform-based ALFFs (Wavelet-ALFFs) with standardization, percent amplitude of fluctuation (PerAF) with/without standardization were applied to evaluate the spontaneous brain activity of patients with DM1. Compared with HCs, patients with DM1 showed decreased ALFFs and Wavelet-ALFFs in the bilateral precuneus (PCUN), angular gyrus (ANG), inferior parietal, but supramarginal and angular gyri (IPL), posterior cingulate gyrus (PCG), superior frontal gyrus, medial (SFGmed), middle occipital gyrus (MOG), which were mainly distributed in the brain regions of default mode network (DMN). Decreased ALFFs and Wavelet-ALFFs were also seen in bilateral middle frontal gyrus (MFG), inferior frontal gyrus, opercular part (IFGoperc), which were the main components of the executive control network (ECN). Patients with DM1 also showed decreased fALFFs in SFGmed.R, the right anterior cingulate and paracingulate gyri (ACGR), bilateral MFG. Reduced PerAF in bilateral PCUN, ANG, PCG, MOG, and IPLL as well as decreased PerAF without standardization in PCUNR and bilateral PCG also existed in patients with DM1. In conclusion, patients with DM1 had decreased activity in DMN and ECN with increased fluctuations in the temporal cortex and cerebellum. Decreased brain activity in DMN was the most repeatable and reliable with PCUN and PCG being the most specific imaging biomarker of brain dysfunction in patients with DM1.

The largest ultra-deep (>6000 m) strike-slip fault-controlled oilfield in the world is found in the Tarim Basin of Northwestern China. The localized fractured reservoirs are the major production targets along the strike-slip fault zones. Different from its use in the primary porous-type reservoirs, however, the conventional technology is not favorable for use in oil/gas development in Ordovician carbonate reservoirs. For this reason, high-density seismic acquisition and high-resolution seismic processing were carried out to provide high-precision data for fault and fractured reservoir identification. In addition, the multi-filtering process and the maximum likelihood method are typically used to identify small faults and fault segments along a strike-slip fault zone. Further, seismic facies-constrained inversion and amplitude attributes are favorable for large fracture-cave reservoir description. With the advancements in seismic technology, the high and stable production well ratio has been doubled in the “sweet spots” of fractured reservoir optimization, and the first ultra-deep strike-slip fault-controlled oilfield with an annual oil production of over 1 million tons has been realized, achieving economic development in the ultra-deep fractured reservoirs. However, unstable production and high rates of production decline are still significant challenges in the economic exploitation of the ultra-deep fractured reservoirs. Seismic technology requires further improvement for the description of small fractured reservoirs and matrix reservoirs, as well as reservoir connectivity prediction and hydrocarbon detection in the deep subsurface.

A giant, ultra-deep (>7000 m) strike-slip fault-related oilfield has been found in the central depression of the Tarim Basin. However, little research has addressed this discovery to understand the fault effects on the oil migration, which constrains the oil exploitation deployment and well optimization. Based on fault modeling and fluid analysis, we present the effects of fault segment on the oil segmentation and migration in the ultra-deep Fuman Oilfield. The results show a distinct fault segmentation and also subsequent variable fault architecture and non-connected fracture network other than a through-going fault zone. There are fault segment-related isolated fractured reservoirs and fluid variation along the fault strike, which indicates that a large oilfield comprises a series of unconnected small oil reservoirs along the fault segments. The fluid segmentation and molecular indicator of dibenzothiophenes reveal that there is a variable petroleum lateral migration along the strike-slip fault segment. The fault segmentation is a major contribution in the varied oil accumulation along the strike-slip fault zone in Fuman Oilfield. This case study suggests that fault segmentation has variable effects on petroleum migration and accumulation along the strike-slip zone.

As the demand for ore resources increases, the target for mineral exploration gradually shifts from shallow to deep parts of the Earth (>1 km). However, for the ore-hosting strata, it is difficult to obtain high-resolution images by using the electromagnetic method. Seismic full waveform inversion (FWI) is an optimization algorithm which aims at minimizing the prestack seismic data residual between synthetic and observed data. In this case, FWI provides an effective way to achieve high-resolution imaging of subsurface structures. However, acquired seismic data usually lack low frequencies, resulting in severe cycle skipping of FWI, when the initial velocity model is far away from the true one. Phase information in the seismic data provides the kinematic characteristics of waves and has a quasi-linearly relationship with subsurface structures. In this article, we propose to use a phase-amplitude-based full waveform inversion with total-variation regularization (TV-PAFWI) to invert the deep-seated ores. The ore-hosting velocity model test results demonstrate that the TV-PAFWI is suitable for high-resolution velocity model building, especially for deep-seated ores.

A novel ultrasonic spray pyrolysis for high-quality ZnO films based on zinc-ammonia solution was achieved in air. To investigate the structural and optical properties as well as the performance of polymer solar cells (PSCs), ZnO films at different substrate temperatures and thicknesses were prepared. The performance of poly(3-hexylthiophene):[6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT:PCBM) based PSC was found to be improved due to the ZnO films. The crystal structure and roughness of the ZnO films fabricated at different temperatures were found to affect the performance of PSCs. The optimized power conversion efficiency was found to be maximum for PSCs with ZnO films prepared at 200°C. The growth process of these ZnO films is very simple, cost-effective, and compatible for larger-scale PSC preparation. The precursor used for spray pyrolysis is environmentally friendly and helps to achieve ZnO film preparation at a relative low temperature.

Type‐I photosensitizers (PSs) can efficiently generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the hypoxia condition of tumors, which show less oxygen dependence and are considered better candidates for photodynamic therapy (PDT). However, relatively few efficient type‐I organic PSs simultaneously generating two or more type‐I ROS under irradiation are reported. Herein, new alternate donor (D)‐acceptor (A) type molecules containing ladder‐type core (DA′D) fused with an electron‐deficient benzothiadiazole core are reported, which show symmetrical A‐DA′D‐A (QY1) and asymmetrical A‐DA′D‐A′′ (QY2) configurations, respectively. As these ROSs possess complementary properties of strong oxidizing ability (•OH) and long radical lifetime (O2•−), in vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrate that QY1 and QY2 show excellent PDT effects for tumor cells under normoxia or hypoxia, and can achieve remarkable tumor growth inhibition (TGI) rate of 90% for the QY2. More importantly, the generation of •OH in these PSs is revealed by experiments both in aqueous and in vitro, including the well‐known transformation of O2•− and direct electron transition from water to excited triplet PS. It thus provides a comprehensive understanding of the O2 dependence property of •OH radical and deep insights into the mechanism of type‐I PS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Obesity and diabetes are closely related metabolic disorders that have become major public health concerns worldwide. Over the past few decades, numerous studies have explored the underlying mechanisms of these disorders and identified various risk factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and dietary habits. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been increasingly recognized for its potential to manage obesity and diabetes. Weight loss is difficult to sustain, and several diabetic therapies, such as sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, and insulin, might make it harder to lose weight. While lifestyle changes should be the primary approach for people interested in lowering weight, drugs are also worth investigating. Since some of the newer glucose-lowering medications that cause weight loss, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) and sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), are additionally utilized or are under consideration for use as anti-obesity drugs, the frontier between glucose-lowering medication and weight loss drugs appears to be shifting. This review provides an overview of the literature on the underlying mechanisms of obesity and diabetes and the prospect of TCM in their management. We discuss the various TCM interventions, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and dietary therapy, and their effects on metabolic health. We also highlight the potential of TCM in regulating gut microbiota, reducing inflammation, and improving insulin sensitivity. The findings suggest that TCM may provide a promising approach to preventing and managing obesity and diabetes. However, further well-designed studies are needed to confirm the efficacy and safety of TCM interventions and to elucidate their underlying mechanisms of action. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
