4. Effect of graphene on the growth and development of Raspberry tissue culture seedlings

Abstract

Raspberry subcultured tissue seedlings were used as test materials for the effect of different concentrations of graphene on the growth of raspberry seedlings and the development of adventitious roots. The graphene was characterized by a laser particle size analyzer, STEM, TEM, XPS and Raman spectroscopy. A root analysis system and SEM were used to systematically characterize the seedling height, root length, root specific surface area, number of branches, number of root tips and root micromorphology, thus determining the optimum concentration of graphene for the growth of raspberry tissue culture seedlings. The results showed that with increasing graphene concentration, the seedling height, root length, root tip number and root specific surface area of the seedlings all showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. The optimum concentration of graphene was 2 mg·L-1, the seedling height of tissue culture seedlings was 1.46 times that of the control group, and the root length, specific surface area, number of root tips and their bifurcation number were about twice that of the control group.

6. Permanent 125I prostate brachytherapy for castration‐resistant prostate cancer.

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the clinical significance of permanent 125I prostate brachytherapy in patients with castration‐resistant prostate cancer. Methods: A retrospective study of 45 patients with castration‐resistant prostate cancer from the Clinical Medical College, Yangzhou University, Yangzhou, Jiangsu, China was carried out. Patients were divided into two groups according to different treatments: 21 patients received endocrine therapy alone (control group), and 24 patients underwent brachytherapy combined with endocrine therapy (treatment group). Prostate‐specific antigen progression‐free survival, cancer‐specific survival, overall survival and quality of life of the two groups were compared. Results: The median prostate‐specific antigen progression‐free survival and cancer‐specific survival of the treatment group were 29 months (interquartile range 25–37 months) and 37 months (interquartile range 30–50 months), respectively. These were significantly longer than those of the control group (both P < 0.05). Prostate‐specific antigen (before androgen deprivation therapy and before brachytherapy), prostate volume, Gleason score, clinical stage and brachytherapy were associated with prostate‐specific antigen progression‐free survival and cancer‐specific survival on univariate analysis. For the quality of life after treatment, urinary symptoms/problems at 1 month after brachytherapy compared with the control group had a statistically significant difference and clinically relevant deterioration, but after 6 months there were no statistically significant differences and clinically relevant deterioration. Compared with the control group, the physical functioning, social functioning, global health and general physical discomfort of the treatment group were significantly improved. Conclusions: Brachytherapy with 125I seed implantation can effectively prolong survival of patients with castration‐resistant prostate cancer and, to a certain extent, improve patients' quality of life. Abstract

This paper, basing itself on the pattern of SBDART radiation transmission to get the relation between the height, temperature of cloud top, the effective radius and the bright temperature of the two infrared channels, and on iterative method of repetitive employ of radiation pattern, improves the ways of retrieve, and issues a new way of the combination of multi-station immediate time observation and the data of the 1 and 2 infrared channels to retrieve the height, temperature of cloud top and the effective radius. This paper proves that the improved method, having introduced the immediate time soundings, will improve the accuracy of the retrieve. Through multi-case analysis of the result of the retrieve and the RHI echo of radar and the accumulated precipitation at the meteorological station, this paper concludes that the height of the retrieve cloud top near the radar station often is a little higher than the top of radar echo, and with the increased distance to the radar station the margin will increase accordingly; as for relative stable layer-shaped cloud precipitation, the effective radius of the cloud particle is usually 10 μm, as for fluid precipitation and accumulated cloud precipitation, this does not apply, besides which, effective radius being more than 10μm is not the condition of the precipitation, many stations in this condition do not rain. Through an analysis of the process of an artificial enhancement precipitation, the paper also discusses satellite retrieve product’s operation in artificial enhancement precipitation.
