Abstract

BACKGROUND: Intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) has demonstrated efficacy in patients with cognitive impairment. However, activation patterns and mechanisms of iTBS for post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) remain insufficiently understood. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the activation patterns and potential benefits of using iTBS in patients with PSCI. METHODS: A total of forty-four patients with PSCI were enrolled and divided into an iTBS group (iTBS and cognitive training) or a control group (cognitive training alone). Outcomes were assessed based on the activation in functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), as well as Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment (LOTCA) and the modified Barthel Index (MBI). RESULTS: Thirty-eight patients completed the interventions and assessments. Increased cortical activation was observed in the iTBS group after the interventions, including the right superior temporal gyrus (STG), left frontopolar cortex (FPC) and left orbitofrontal cortex (OFC). Both groups showed significant improvements in LOTCA and MBI after the interventions (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the iTBS group augmented superior improvement in the total score of MBI and LOTCA compared to the control group, especially in visuomotor organization and thinking operations (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: iTBS altered activation patterns and improved cognitive function in patients with PSCI. The activation induced by iTBS may contribute to the improvement of cognitive function. Abstract

We herein disclose a modular synthesis of 1-bromomethylene-THIQs involving a Catellani reaction of aryl iodides, aziridines, and terminal alkynes followed by an N-bromosuccinimide (NBS)-mediated cyclization. This approach features mild reaction conditions, wide substrate scope, good step-economy and good scalability. Based on this new method, we have accomplished the concise total synthesis of (±)-cularine, formal synthesis of 8-oxopseudopalmatine as well as the first total synthesis of dactyllactone A, demonstrating the wide synthetic potential of this method.

Abstract

The development of the Internet has dramatically facilitated the present society. While a large amount of data is produced, private data security involves users' data rights. Traditionally, attribute-based encryption (ABE) still needs to improve efficiency in the face of a large amount of data. The introduction of edge computing environments reduces the operating costs of lightweight devices by outsourcing some encryption and decryption operations. Therefore, we design an efficient attribute-based encryption scheme under edge computing that supports keyword search. Data owners and users do not disclose private information to the cloud during the search phase. Our work considers the computational efficiency of ordinary and lightweight users, and partial operations can be outsourced according to the demand during decryption, which is more flexible and applicable to practical applications. The scheme also supports efficient attribute revocation and ciphertext update in the cloud environment. Moreover, the proposed algorithm has been proven to be IND-sCP-CPA security and IND-CKA security. The work compares our algorithm with some typical schemes in terms of storage overhead and computation cost in the end. The performance analysis results indicate that the proposed work is efficient and suitable for edge computing.

Abstract

Introduction: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a dynamic process in which there are interactions between endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and inflammatory responses. The aim of the present study was to investigate the function and mechanism of HSCARG in the treatment of CHD. Methods: Male apolipoprotein E/low-density lipoprotein receptor-deficient mice were given a high-fat diet with 21% fat and 0.15% cholesterol for the in vivo model. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were incubated with angiotensin II for the in vitro model. HSCARG expression was inhibited in patients or mice with CHD. Results: HSCARG reduced oxidative stress in mice with CHD. HSCARG also reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS)-oxidative stress in the in vitro model. HSCARG induced p47phox expression in the in vitro model by NF-κB activity. The regulation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) activity or p47phox expression participates in the effects of HSCARG in CHD. Conclusion: Altogether, our data indicate that HSCARG reduced ROS-oxidative stress in in vivo and in vitro models of CHD via p47phox by NF-κB activity and may be a clinical target for CHD.

Abstract

Feature points loss and images mismatch in the variation of light intensity, weak texture and large angle rotation for the feature points extraction of ORB-SLAM2 are severe. To deal with the problem, a feature points extraction algorithm based on adaptive information entropy, i.e., Adaptive Information Entropy Feature (AIEF) algorithm is proposed. According to the information entropy, the image blocks with less information are removed and those with more texture image information and larger gradient are selected. Then an adaptive algorithm is used to automatically calculate the optimal threshold of the image information entropy. The image blocks are homogenized to avoid that the extracted feature points are too dense and getting stuck is prevented, which makes the algorithm more robust. Finaly validation is performed using the Oxford standard data set and the performances of the AIEF algorithm are compared with those of the SIFT, SURF, and ORB-SLAM2 algorithms. Experimental results on the Oxford standard data set demonstrate that the AIEF algorithm outperforms the traditional counterparts in terms of processing time, number of feature points, correct matching number and correct matching rate.
