Zapiola anticyclone (ZA) is an anticyclonic circulation trapped by a seamount about 1200 m in height named Zapiola Rise (ZR). The ZA is adjacent to energetic flows of the South Atlantic Ocean, such as the Brazil/Malvinas Confluence (BMC) and the Antarctic Circumpolar Circulation (ACC). The interplay among the circulations makes the dynamic processes of the ZA complex and variable. Based on the reanalysis data and drifter observations, this study mainly aims to investigate the influence of a strong flow field outside of the seamount on variations of the ZA. Results show that the vorticity of the ZA has a significant quasi-two-year variation, which is an independent eigenmode in the basin. The advection of the potential vorticity over the bottom topography from the southern boundary plays the most significant role in controlling the vorticity variations of the ZA. Drifter trajectories also confirm the importance of the flow field in the south of the seamount. The statistical results of the drifter trajectories show that the transport process of the southern boundary flow field has the most significant effect on the dynamic processes of the ZA. Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) is the causative agent of both upper and lower respiratory infections that can lead to pneumonia, extrapulmonary complications and devastating sequela. With the increasing rate of macrolide-resistant strains, the severe clinical consequence of refractory mycoplasma pneumonia in children health calls for the need of vaccine research for this pathogen. In this report, the immunomodulatory effectiveness of a live attenuated M. pneumoniae vaccine was evaluated. The vaccine strain was a mutant strain of M. pneumoniae , MUT129, obtained after multiple passages of M129 strain in PPLO broth. The SNP/InDel detection results showed that mutations were present in genes encoding the adhesion organelle-associated proteins and lipoproteins of M. pneumoniae MUT129. Upon intranasal challenge of BALB/c mice with 1 × 107 CFU of MUT129, there were very small amount of Mycoplasma antigens and almost no M. pneumoniae present in the lung tissues of BALB/c mice. Besides, there was almost no inflammatory cell infiltration in the lung tissue. Results of the M. pneumoniae challenge study showed that mice immunized with MUT129 presented with less inflammation, lower detectable number of M. pneumoniae in the lungs when compared with the unimmunized mice. These results indicated that the live attenuated vaccine can efficiently prevent the proliferation of M. pneumonia in the lungs, reduce but not completely prevent the pulmonary inflammatory response. • An attenuated natural mutant of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (named MUT129 strain) was generated. • The attenuated MUT129 strain triggered a strong immune protection against M. pneumoniae infection. • This study provide initial evidence for the suitability of MUT129 strain as an attenuated vaccine candidate. The Baiyun gold deposit is a medium-sized deposit in northeastern Hubei around the southern margin of the Tongbai-Dabie metallogenic belt. However, its genesis has not been determined. The metallogenic process of the Baiyun gold deposit can be divided into three stages: quartz + feldspar, quartz + native gold + electrum + polymetallic sulfides, and quartz + pyrite + calcite + iron dolomite + illite. In this study, LA-ICP-MS was used for in situ trace element and isotope analyses in the main and late ore stage hydrothermal sulfides to evaluate the genesis and evolution of ore-forming fluids. Gold is positively correlated with Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn, and Te and the Co/Ni ratio is greater than 1. The S isotope values of Py1 and Py2 are −0.23–3.04‰ and 1.27–6.09‰, respectively. As mineralization progressed, S isotope values increased. In situ S isotope values of the two types of galena symbiotic with pyrite in the main metallogenic stage are 2.97–3.47‰. In situ Fe isotopic values of pyrite are −0.05–0.82‰; values in the two stages are similar without significant fractionation. We inferred that the Baiyun gold deposit formed via magmatic mineralization related to the subduction of the Pacific Plate during the Yanshanian. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The basin-scale wave propagation in the Southern Indian Ocean (SIO) is inferred to affect the low-frequency variability of eddy kinetic energy (EKE) within the Agulhas current system (ACS). Observations and numerical simulations indicate that westward-propagating waves, in the form of sea level variability from the east boundary, may cause "non-linear" oceanic responses (e.g., sea level and EKE) in the ACS. This is likely due to two factors: (i) the movement of wave crests and troughs continuously alters the stratification of the upper ocean, generating a positive baroclinic instability and prompting conversions of EKE from mean flow in the source regions, and (ii) wave-current interactions induce a rapid intension of an anticyclone gyre in the interior SIO and the corresponding EKE in the downstream regions. These basin-scale wave modulations may provide an additional perspective to the traditional wind driving view based on the barotropic Sverdrup relation. The local winds over the SIO play an important role in maintaining basin-scale Rossby waves in the southwest Indian Ocean and further modulating oceanic low-frequency variability in a "quasi-linear" way. • The basin-scale wave propagation in the Southern Indian Ocean (SIO) have an influence on the dynamics of the Agulhas current system.
