8. Association of Physical Activity With Cognitive Function Among Older Adults in Rural Sichuan, China.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between total physical activity and different dimensions of cognitive function (orientation, attention, and memory) among older adults in rural Sichuan, China. This cross-sectional study involved 715 older adults (average age of 72 years). Total PA was measured by the Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly, and cognitive function was assessed by the Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status (TICS) questionnaire. The multivariate linear regression analysis indicated that total PA and household PA were significantly associated with the overall Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status score (β = 0.143, p <.001; β = 0.115, p =.002, respectively), the orientation dimension (β = 0.142, p <.001; β = 0.131, p =.001, respectively), and the memory dimension (β = 0.179, p <.001; β = 0.134, p =.001, respectively). The study showed a positive association between total PA, household PA, and cognitive function in older adults, especially in the orientation dimension and the memory dimension of cognitive function. Abstract

Machine vision as an essential component of artificial intelligence poses a significant influence on dimension measurement, quality control, autonomous driving, and so on. In this study, a high-performance ultraviolet (UV) imaging and detection system enabled by Gallium Nitride (GaN) nanowire (NW) n-i-n photodetector (PD) is presented. Based on supreme optoelectronic properties of the NW, including high responsivity of 5098 A/W, a low dark current of 4.88 pA and a photo-to-dark current ratio of 1223, machine vision system composed of a GaN NW array could achieve an accuracy of 96.21%. Furthermore, feasibility of artificial neural network (ANN) and convolutional neural network (CNN) in such a machine vision system is discussed, featuring dim and noisy environment. The visualization process shows that the superiority of CNN over ANN in image recognition is attributed to the capability of extracting spatial information and characteristics. The research results provide important insight into the development of both sensors and algorithms for machine vision systems based on GaN NW PD, inspiring further investigation into UV image detection and other areas of artificial intelligence.

22. Life's Essential 8, Life's Simple 7 and the odds of hyperuricaemia: results from the China Multi-Ethnic Cohort Study.

Abstract

Objective Life's Essential 8 (LE8) is a new comprehensive metric based on Life's Simple 7 (LS7). Few studies have investigated the association between LE8 and the odds of hyperuricaemia (HUA). This study examined the association between LE8, LS7 with odds of HUA. Methods We cross-sectionally analysed data from the China Multi-Ethnic Cohort (CMEC) study. LE8 and LS7 were categorized as low, moderate and high. The CMEC provided an ideal and unique opportunity to characterize the association between LE8, LS7 and the odds of HUA. Results Of the 89 823 participants, 14 562 (16.2%) had HUA. A high level of LE8 was associated with lower odds of HUA after full adjustment. The adjusted odds ratios (ORs) were 1 (reference), 0.70 (95% CI 0.67, 0.73) and 0.45 (0.42, 0.48) across low, moderate and high LE8 groups, respectively (P trend < 0.001). Similar results were observed in LS7 and HUA. The adjusted ORs were 1 (reference), 0.68 (95% CI 0.65, 0.71) and 0.46 (95% CI 0.43, 0.49) across low, moderate and high LS7 groups, respectively (P trend < 0.001). There were significant interactions between LE8 and age, gender, ethnicity and drinking habits on HUA. Receiver operating characteristics analysis showed that the area under the curve for LE8 and LS7 were similar (0.638 and 0.635, respectively). Conclusion This study indicated a clearly inverse gradient association between the cardiovascular health metrics LE8 and LS7 and the odds of HUA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

29. A Qualitative Exploration of Community-Based Organization Programs, Resources, and Training to Promote Adolescent Sexual Health

Abstract

Youth development professionals (YDPs) working at community-based organizations (CBOs) can promote adolescent sexual health through programs. This study explored the programs and resources that youth access at CBOs and training YDPs receive. Twenty-one semi-structured interviews were conducted with YDPs. Qualitative content analyses were conducted using NVivo. The study found that most YDPs described sexuality-related programs for youth. Many YDPs provided informal information and/or referrals for youth. Few YDPs were trained to address adolescent sexuality, but many sought outside resources. Also, YDPs have a unique opportunity to improve adolescent sexual health and sexuality. Five considerations for organizations that develop programs and training for CBOs are suggested.

30. 545-mA/mm E-Mode Recessed-Gate GaN MOSHEMT (Vth > 4 V) by Ion Beam Etching

Abstract

Normally-off recessed-gate AlGaN/GaN metal–oxide–semiconductor high-electron-mobility transistors (MOSHEMTs) were fabricated using argon-based ion beam etching and thoroughly characterized. By partially recessing the AlGaN barrier, the device achieved a threshold voltage of 4.22 V, saturation drain current of 545 mA/mm, and small on-resistance of $3.63~\Omega \cdot $ mm at a gate bias of 8 V. The recessed-gate MOSHEMT demonstrated good breakdown characteristics that by scaling the gate-to-drain distance ( ${L}_{\textit {gd}}$ ) from $2~\mu \text{m}$ to $10~\mu \text{m}$ , breakdown voltages were steadily enhanced from 202 V to 730 V. The device exhibited good dynamic performance that with an off-state drain stressing of 100 V, low current collapse of 14.1% was obtained. After applying a -10 V gate stressing for a duration of 100 s, the threshold voltage was only negatively shifted by 0.40 V. Overall, Baliga’s figure-of-merit (FOM) of 567 MW/cm2 has been achieved for MOSHEMTs with ${L}_{\textit {gd}}$ of $10~\mu \text{m}$ , indicating ion beam etching paves a promising path for enhancement-mode recessed-gate MOSHEMT fabrication.

35. RF p-GaN HEMT With 0.9-dB Noise Figure and 12.8-dB Associated Gain for LNA Applications

Abstract

Low-noise amplification performance of an enhancement-mode p- GaN gate high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) is thoroughly investigated. Featuring a tungsten (W) gate metal and CMOS-compatible metal contacts to source/drain terminals, the device exhibits a positive threshold voltage of 2.7 V. Low gate leakage current density ( $\text{I}_{\text {G}}{)}$ of 3.8 pA/mm and 16.3 nA/mm are extracted in pinch-off region and on-state region, respectively. The device delivers an input third-order interception point (IIP3) of 15.8 dBm at 2 GHz, together with good immunity of linearity characteristics against frequency change. A minimum noise figure ( $NF_{\text {min}}{)}$ of 0.9 dB with an associated gain ( $\text{G}_{\text {a}}{)}$ of 12.8 dB are achieved at a working frequency of 2 GHz. Furthermore, an examination of the bias and frequency effects on NFmin and $\text{G}_{\text {a}}$ reveals NFmin of 0.65 dB and $\text{G}_{\text {a}}$ of 18.3 dB at 1 GHz. This work paves a solid path for the utilization of ${p}$ -GaN HEMT for low noise amplifier applications.
