Background: Reactive oxygen species (ROS), predominantly generated by mitochondria, play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). Reduction of ROS levels may be an effective strategy to delay IVDD. In this study, we assessed whether umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-exosomes (UCMSC-exos) can be used to treat IVDD by suppressing ROS production caused by mitochondrial dysfunction. Materials and methods: Human UCMSC-exos were isolated and identified. Nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs) were stimulated with H2O2 in the presence or absence of exosomes. Then, 4D label free quantitative (4D-LFQ) proteomics were used to analyze the differentially expressed (DE) proteins. Mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), mitochondrial ROS and protein levels were determined via immunofluorescence staining, flow cytometry and western blotting respectively. Additionally, high-throughput sequencing was performed to identify the DE miRNAs in NPCs. Finally, therapeutic effects of UCMSC-exos were investigated in a puncture-induced IVDD rat model. Degenerative grades of rat IVDs were assessed using magnetic resonance imaging and histochemical staining. Results: UCMSC-exos effectively improved the viability of NPCs and restored the expression of the extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, collagen type II alpha-1 (COL2A1) and matrix metalloproteinase-13 induced by H2O2. Additionally, UCMSC-exos not only reduced the total intracellular ROS and mitochondrial superoxide levels, but also increased MMP in pathological NPCs. 4D-LFQ proteomics and western blotting further revealed that UCMSC-exos up-regulated the levels of the mitochondrial protein, mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM), in H2O2-induced NPCs. High-throughput sequencing and qRT-PCR uncovered that UCMSC-exos down-regulated the levels of miR-194-5p, a potential negative regulator of TFAM, induced by H2O2. Finally, in vivo results showed that UCMSC-exos injection improved the histopathological structure and enhanced the expression levels of COL2A1 and TFAM in the rat IVDD model. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that UCMSC-exos promote ECM synthesis, relieve mitochondrial oxidative stress, and attenuate mitochondrial dysfunction in vitro and in vivo, thereby effectively treating IVDD. The translational potential of this article: This study provides solid experimental data support for the therapeutic effects of UCMSC-exos on IVDD, suggesting that UCMSC-exos will be a promising nanotherapy for IVDD.

Benzotriazoles (BTRs) are a class of benzoheterocyclic chemicals that are frequently used as metal-corrosive inhibitors, both in industry and daily use. However, the exposure effect information on BTRs remains relatively limited. In this study, an integrated metabolomic and transcriptomic approach was utilized to evaluate the effect of three BTRs, benzotriazole, 6-chloro-1-hydroxi-benzotriazole, and 1-hydroxy-benzotriazole, in the mouse liver with results showing disrupted basal metabolic processes and vitamin and cofactor metabolism after 28 days. The expression of several genes that are related to the inflammatory response and aryl hydrocarbon receptor pathways, such as Gstt2 and Arntl, was altered by the exposure to BTRs. Exposure to BTRs also affected metabolites and genes that are involved in the immune system and xenobiotic responses. The altered expression of several cytochrome P450 family genes reveal a potential detoxification mechanism in the mouse liver. Taken together, our findings provide new insights into the multilayer response of the mouse liver to BTRs exposure as well as a resource for further exploration of the molecular mechanisms by which the response occurs.

Abstract The incorporation of isolated Sn (IV) and Zr (IV) ions into silica frameworks is attracting widespread attention, which exhibits remarkable catalytic performance (conversion, selectivity, and stability) in a broad range of reactions, especially in the field of biomass catalytic conversion. As a representative example, the conversion route of carbohydrates into valuable platform and commodity chemicals such as lactic acid and alkyl lactates, has already been established. The zeotype materials also possess water‐tolerant ability and are capable to be served as promising heterogeneous catalysts for aqueous reactions. Therefore, dozens of Sn‐ and Zr‐containing silica materials with various channel systems have been prepared successfully in the past decades, containing 8 membered rings (MR) small pore CHA zeolite, 10‐MR medium pore zeolites (FER, MCM‐56, MEL, MFI, MWW), 12‐MR large pore zeolites (Beta, BEC, FAU, MOR, MSE, MTW), and 14‐MR extra‐large pore UTL zeolite. This review about Sn‐ and Zr‐containing metallosilicate materials focuses on their synthesis strategy, catalytic applications for diverse reactions, and the effect of zeolite characteristics on their catalytic performances.

Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) are the most common type of testicular cancer, comprising 90–95% of cases and representing the most prevalent solid malignancy in young adult men. Immune infiltrates play important regulatory roles in tumors, but their role in TGCT remains unclear. Molecular subtyping is a promising way to provide precisely personalized treatment and avoid unnecessary toxicities. This study investigated immune infiltrates, key biomarkers, and immune subtyping of TGCT. In GSE3218, 24 differentially expressed immune genes (immDEGs) were identified. The Si/Al molar ratio of MAZ aluminosilicate zeolite prepared by the direct hydrothermal method is generally less than five, thus giving rise to poor thermal and hydrothermal stability for this low-silica zeolite. With the purpose of enhancing the Si/Al molar ratio of MAZ zeolite, post-synthesized methods including acetic acid treatment and steaming treatment, as well as interzeolite transformation from FAU zeolite, were employed to prepare MAZ zeolite with high silica. It was found that steaming treatment was more effective in increasing the Si/Al molar ratio in comparison with acetic acid treatment, affording a maximum Si/Al molar ratio of 16.9 along with a preserved crystallinity of approximately 75%. Additionally, high-silica MAZ zeolite with a Si/Al molar ratio of up to 7.3 was also capable of being directly hydrothermally synthesized using interzeolite transformation from FAU zeolite.

BackgroundThe predominant and most prevalent form of metastatic bladder cancer (BCa) is lymphatic metastasis, which is associated with a highly dismal prognosis for patients. Aging-related genes (ARGs) are believed to contribute significantly to tumor development. However, the effect of ARGs on lymphatic metastasis of BCa is unclear. This research sought to establish a prognosis model based on ARGs associated with lymphatic metastasis in BCa.MethodsWe downloaded BCa data from the TCGA and GEO databases and ARGs from the Aging Atlas database. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) approach was applied to obtain the characteristic ARGs of risk signature in the TCGA cohort. Verification was done using the GSE13507 dataset. The R package ‘ConsensusClusterPlus’ was employed to identify the molecular subtypes based on the characteristic ARGs. Protein-Protein interaction network, MCODE analysis, enrichment analysis (KEGG, GO, GSEA), and immune infiltration analysis were performed to investigate underlying mechanisms. EdU, migration and invasion assays, wound healing assays, immunofluorescence staining, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction were conducted to evaluate the impact of ELN on the proliferative, migratory, and invasive capacities of BCa cells.ResultsWe identified 20 differently expressed ARGs. Hypertrophy development induced by the overexpression of SlbHLH22 (also called SlUPA-like) was susceptible to Xanthomonas in tomatoes. Transcriptome and metabolome analyses were performed on the hypertrophy leaves of a SlbHLH22-overexpressed line (OE) and wild type (WT) to investigate the molecular mechanism. Metabolome analysis revealed that six key metabolites were over-accumulated in the OE, including Acetylserine/O-Acetyl-L-serine, Glucono-1,5-lactone, Gluconate, 2-Oxoglutarate, and Loganate, implying that the OE plants increased salt or oxidant resistance under normal growth conditions. The RNA-seq analysis showed the changed expressions of downstream genes involved in high-energy consumption, photosynthesis, and transcription regulation in OE lines, and we hypothesized that these biological processes were related to the GTgamma subfamily of trihelix factors. The RT-PCR results showed that the expressions of the GTgamma genes in tomatoes, i.e., SlGT-7 and SlGT-36, were suppressed in the hypertrophy development. The expression of the GTgamma gene was downregulated by salinity, indicating a coordinated role of GTgamma in hypertrophy development and salt stress. Further research showed that both SlGT-7 and SlGT-36 were highly expressed in leaves and could be significantly induced by abscisic acid (ABA). The GTgamma protein had a putative phosphorylation site at S96. These results suggested GTgamma’s role in hypertrophy development by increasing the salt resistance.

Plants face various biotic and abiotic stress factors during their growth and development, among which, drought is a serious adverse factor that affects yield and quality in agriculture and forestry. Several transcription factors are involved in regulating plant responses to drought stress. In this study, the B-box (BBX) transcription factor CoBBX24 was cloned from Camellia oleifera. This gene encodes a 241-amino-acid polypeptide containing two B-box domains at the N-terminus. A phylogenetic analysis revealed that CoBBX24 and CsBBX24 from Camellia sinensis are in the same branch, with their amino acid sequences being identical by 96.96%. CoBBX24 was localized to the nucleus and acted as a transcriptional activator. The overexpression of CoBBX24 in Arabidopsis heightened its drought tolerance along with a relatively high survival rate, and the rate of water loss in the OX-CoBBX24 lines was observably lower than that of the wild-type. Compared to the wild-type, the root lengths of the OX-CoBBX24 lines were significantly inhibited with abscisic acid. Leaf senescence was delayed in the OX-CoBBX24 lines treated with abscisic acid. The expression of genes related to leaf senescence and chlorophyll breakdown (e.g., SAG12, SAG29, NYC1, NYE1, and NYE2) was downregulated in the OX-CoBBX24 lines. This study indicated that CoBBX24 positively regulates the drought tolerance in Arabidopsis through delayed leaf senescence.

However, the use of a limited number of resistant loci in FLS management will be countered by the emergence of new high-virulence Cercospora sojina races. The search for non-noble metal catalysts for chemical transformations is of paramount importance. In this study, an efficient non-noble metal catalyst for hydrogenation, hexagonal close-packed cobalt (HCP-Co), was synthesized through a simple one-step reduction of β-Co(OH)2 nanosheets via a temperature-induced phase transition. The obtained HCP-Co exhibited several-times-higher catalytic efficiency than its face-centered cubic cobalt (FCC-Co) counterpart in the hydrogenation of the C=C/C=O group, especially for the 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) hydrogenation (8.5-fold enhancement). Density functional theory calculations demonstrated that HMF molecules were adsorbed more firmly on the (112_0) facet of HCP-Co than that on the (111) facet of FCC-Co, favoring the activation of the C=O group in the HMF molecule. The stronger adsorption on the (112_0) facet of HCP-Co also led to lower activation energy than that on the (111) facet of FCC-Co, thereby resulting in high activity and selectivity. Moreover, HCP-Co exhibited outstanding catalytic stability during the hydrogenation of HMF. These results highlight the possibility of fabricating hydrogenation catalysts with satisfactory catalytic properties by precisely tuning their active crystal phase.

Cold stress impairs plant growth and development, resulting in crop failure. Cultivated potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is sensitive to freezing, while its wild relative, S. commersonii, has a strong freezing tolerance. To decipher the anti-freezing mechanism of CM, we carried out a transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis of an anti-freezing variety of CM (a type of S. commersonii) and a freeze-sensitive variety of DM (a type of Solanum tuberosum L.). A total of 49,232 high-quality transcripts from 12,811 gene loci, including 46,772 coding sequences and 2018 non-coding RNAs, were identified. KEEG enrichment analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the two varieties showed that the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway was strongly induced by freezing stress, which was proven by flavonoid metabolome analysis. Consistent with the accumulation of more flavonoids, nearly all the pathway genes were significantly upregulated in CM than those in DM. The transcript levels of two chalcone synthase (CHS-1) isoforms and four isoforms of flavonoid 3′-hydroxylase (F3′H-1) were confirmed by qRT-PCR. Co-expression analysis identified one Myb-related and three UGTs (UDP-glycosyltransferase) that were significantly upregulated in CM during freezing stress. Our findings support that the flavonoid pathway was significantly enhanced by freezing stress and the greater accumulation ofglycosylatedflavonoids in resistant types than that of sensitive types, maybe accounting for the increased freezing tolerance of freeze-resistant potato varieties.

ABSTRACT To evaluate the efficiency of an energy density of 0.05mj/mm2 of low intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (Li-ESWT) on erectile dysfunction (ED) patients.A total of 45 ED patients met the inclusion criteria, including 7 PDE5i responders and 38 nonresponders. All the patients have already been delivered 10000 shockwaves of total seven treatment points twice a week for 4 weeks. Simultaneously, questionnaires of International Index of Erectile Function-Erectile Function (IIEF-EF), Erectile Hard Score (EHS) and Minimal Clinical Important Differences (MCID) were evaluated for the efficiency and safety at 8th and 16th weeks.The changes in the IIEF-EF score by MCID suggested that Li-ESWT treatment was effective in 22 PDE5i nonresponders patients (58%) at 8th week. Then at 16th week the number of patients who were effectively treated increased to 27 (71%). Among PDE5i responders, 5 patients (71%) were effective base on MCID at 16th week. Among PDE5i nonresponders 22 patients (58%) achieved erection hard enough for vaginal penetration and increased to 27 (71%) patients at 16th week (EHS ≥3). Moreover, even 3 patients achieved EHS 4 in PDE5i nonresponders at 16th week. Among PDE5i responders, 4 of 7 patients reached EHS of 4 from EHS 3 at 16th week. Apart from this, Li-ESWT treatment was also effective in 9 patients (24%) in PDE5i nonresponders without follow-up PDE5i.Energy flux density (EFD) of 0.05 of Li-ESWT could improve the erectile function of ED patients with PDE5i response. In addition, EFD of 0.05 of Li-ESWT treatment could turn PDE5i nonresponders to responders.

Prostate adenocarcinoma (PCa) is the most common cause of death due to malignancy among men, and bone metastasis is the leading cause of mortality in patients with PCa. Therefore, identifying the causes and molecular mechanism of bone metastasis is important for early detection, diagnosis and personalized therapy. In this study, we systematically analyzed molecular correlates of bone metastasis by bioinformatics analysis. A total of 12 differentially expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) and 102 differentially expressed genes were identified. Five miRNAs had prognostic significance in biochemical recurrence‐free survival (miR‐636, miR‐491‐5p, miR‐199b‐5p, miR‐199b‐3p, miR‐28‐3p). The differentially expressed genes were significantly enriched in extracellular matrix, cell‐substrate adhesion, collagen and integrin. Seven hub genes (VCAN, COL3A1, COL1A1, APOE, COL1A2, SDC1, THY1) with worse biochemical recurrence‐free survival and one hub gene (MMP9) with worse overall survival were detected. miR‐636, a novel oncogene, was found to be up‐regulated in bone metastatic PCa tissues and also predominately up‐regulated in human PCa cell lines. miR‐636 promoted cellular invasion and migration, and may promote bone metastasis via targeting MBNL2, TNS1 and STAB1. In conclusion, we have successfully defined molecular signatures of bone metastasis in PCa.

It remains a challenge to prepare flame-retardant composites via the addition of a low content of flame retardant. In this work, a novel DOPO-functionalized reduced graphene oxide hybrid (DOPO-M-rGO) flame-retardant system was synthesized for epoxy resin (EP). The phosphorus-nitrogen-reduced graphene oxide ternary synergistic effect provided DOPO-M-rGO with high flame-resistance efficiency in EP; thus, the EP-based composite exhibited superior fire-resistant performance at extremely low DOPO-M-rGO loading. The limiting oxygen index (LOI) of the EP-based composite was increased from 25% to 32% with only 1.5 wt% DOPO-M-rGO addition, and the peak heat release rate (pHRR), total heat release (THR), and total smoke production (TSP) were significantly decreased by 55%, 30%, and 20%, respectively. In addition, as a halogen-free flame-retardant system, DOPO-M-rGO presents great application potential as an eco-friendly additive for the flame-resistance improvement of thermosetting polymer materials.

Pigments in cyclamen (Cyclamen purpurascens) endows flowers with great ornamental and medicinal values. However, little is known about the biosynthetic pathways of pigments, especially anthocyanins, in cyclamen flowers. Herein, anthocyanins profiling and RNA-Seq were used to decipher the molecular events using cyclamen genotypes of red (HXK) or white (BXK) flowers. We found that red cyclamen petals are rich in cyanidin-3-O-rutinoside, cyanidin-3-O-glucoside, delphinidin-3-O-glucoside, malvidin-3-O-glucoside, peonidin-3-O-rutinoside, quercetin-3-O-glucoside, and ruti. In addition, our transcriptomics data revealed 3589 up-regulated genes and 2788 down-regulated genes comparing the BXK to HXK. Our rich dataset also identified eight putative key genes for anthocyanin synthesis, including four chalcone synthase (CHS, g13809_i0, g12097_i0, g18851_i0, g36714_i0), one chalcone isomerase (CHI, g26337_i0), two flavonoid 3-hydroxylase (F3′H, g14710_i0 and g15005_i0), and one anthocyanidin synthase (ANS, g18981_i0). Importantly, we found a 2.5 order of magnitude higher expression of anthocyanin 3-O-glucosyltransferase (g8206_i0), which encodes a key gene in glycosylation of anthocyanins, in HXK compared to BXK. Taken together, our multiomics approach demonstrated massive changes in gene regulatory networks and anthocyanin metabolism in controlling cyclamen flower color.

Prostate cancer (PCa) has become the most frequently occurring cancer among western men according to the latest report, and patients’ prognosis is often poor in the event of tumor progression, therefore, many researches are devoted to exploring the molecular mechanism of PCa metastasis. MicroRNAs (miRNA) have proved to play an important role in this process. In present study, by combining clinical samples with public databases, we found that miR-629-5p increased to varying degrees in primary localized PCa tissues and metastatic PCa tissues compared with adjacent normal tissues, and bioinformatics analysis suggested that high level of miR-629-5p was related to poor prognosis. Functionally, miR-629-5p drove PCa cell proliferation, migration and invasion in vitro, and promoted growth of PCa cells in vivo. Moreover, A-kinase Anchor Protein 13 (AKAP13) was screened as a direct target of miR-629-5p, that expression was negatively correlated with the malignant phenotype of tumor cells. In the end, through verification in clinical specimens, we found that AKAP13 could be independently used as a clinical prognostic indicator. Overall, the present study indicates that miR-629-5p plays an oncogenic role in PCa by targeting AKAP13, which provides a new idea for clinical diagnosis and treatment of complex refractory PCa.

A Polypropylene non-woven fabric/ZIF-8 composite film was prepared by in-situ grown method. The loading amount of ZIF-8 of PP non-woven fabric/ZIF-8 composite film increases as the volume of reaction solution and the aging time go up. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to characterize the microstructure of PP non-woven fabric/ZIF-8 composite film. The results show that ZIF-8 nanoparticles were evenly distributed on the PP fiber. The hydrophobicity of PP non-woven fabric/ZIF-8 composite was characterized by water contact angle. The contact angle was up to 137.45°, when ZIF-8 loading amount was 0.85 g·g−1. The material can quickly adsorb floating oil and underwater heavy oil without absorbing water, and the gasoline adsorption capacity of the composite was up to 3612% of its mass and maintains a high oil absorption capacity after it was reused 43 times, which proves that PP non-woven fabric/ZIF-8 composite film is a well recyclable oil/water separation material.

The wide range of insect niches has led to a rapid expansion of chemosensory gene families as well as their relatively independent evolution and a high variation. Previous studies have revealed some functions for odorant-binding proteins (OBPs) in processes beyond olfaction, such as gustation and reproduction. In this study, a comparative transcriptomic analysis strategy was applied for the soybean aphid, Aphis glycines, focusing on various functional tissues and organs of winged aphids, including the antenna, head, leg, wing, thorax, cauda, and cornicle. Detailed spatial OBP expression patterns in winged and wingless parthenogenetic aphids were detected by RT-qPCR. Twelve OBPs were identified, and three new OBPs in A. glycines are first reported. All OBPs showed comparatively higher expression in sensory organs and tissues, such as the antenna, head, or leg. Additionally, we found some novel expression patterns for aphid OBPs (Beckendorf et al., 2008). Five OBPs exhibited high-expression levels in the cauda and four in the cornicle (Biasio et al., 2015). Three genes (OBP2/3/15) were highly expressed in the wing (Calvello et al., 2003). Two (OBP3/15) were significantly more highly expressed in the wingless thorax than in the winged thorax with the wings removed, and these transcripts were significantly enriched in the removed wings. More details regarding OBP spatial expression were revealed under our strategy. These findings supported the existence of carrier transport functions other than for foreign chemicals and therefore broader ligand ranges of aphid OBPs. It is important for understanding how insect OBPs function in chemical perception as well as their other potential physiological functions.

Nanocrystalline Ti−Beta zeolite with high hydrophilicity and a Ti−rich exterior was successfully prepared via a dissolution–recrystallization method. With the post−treatment of tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAOH) solution at elevated temperature, the Si and Ti species within the Ti−Beta matrix were partially dissolved and recrystallized on the outer surface of crystals, resulting in the Ti−rich exterior and higher hydrophilicity, which improved the accessibility of the active Ti sites and the enrichment of H2O2. Simultaneously, some of the closed Ti(OSi)4 species were transformed to more active open Ti(OSi)3OH or Ti(OSi)2(H2O)2(OH)2 species. The modified Ti−Beta zeolite exhibited greatly enhanced catalytic performance in the epoxidation of cyclohexene in comparison to the parent Ti−Beta.

In this study, a novel flame retardant (PMrG) was developed by self-assembling melamine and phytic acid (PA) onto rGO, and then applying it to the improvement of the flame resistance of PLA. PMrG simultaneously decreases the peak heat release rate (pHRR) and the total heat release (THR) of the composite during combustion, and enhances the LOI value and the time to ignition (TTI), thus significantly improving the flame retardancy of the composite. The flame retardant mechanism of the PMrG is also investigated. On one hand, the dehydration of PA and the decomposition of melamine in PMrG generate non-flammable volatiles, such as H2O and NH3, which dilute the oxygen concentration around the combustion front of the composite. On the other hand, the rGO, melamine, and PA components in PMrG create a synergistic effect in promoting the formation of a compact char layer during the combustion, which plays a barrier role and effectively suppresses the release of heat and smoke. In addition, the PMrGs in PLA exert a positive effect on the crystallization of the PLA matrix, thus playing the role of nucleation agent.

Abstract Histone deacetylation is one of the well characterized post-translational modifications related to transcriptional repression in eukaryotes. The process of histone deacetylation is achieved by histone deacetylases (HDACs). Over the last decade, substantial advances in our understanding of the mechanism of fruit ripening have been achieved, but the role of HDACs in this process has not been elucidated. In our study, an RNA interference (RNAi) expression vector targeting SlHDA1 was constructed and transformed into tomato plants. Shorter fruit ripening time and decreased storability were observed in SlHDA1 RNAi lines. The accumulation of carotenoid was increased through an alteration of the carotenoid pathway flux. Ethylene content, ethylene biosynthesis genes (ACS2, ACS4 and ACO1, ACO3) and ripening-associated genes (RIN, E4, E8, Cnr, TAGL1, PG, Pti4 and LOXB) were significantly up-regulated in SlHDA1 RNAi lines. In addition, the expression of fruit cell wall metabolism genes (HEX, MAN, TBG4, XTH5 and XYL) was enhanced compared with wild type. Furthermore, SlHDA1 RNAi seedlings displayed shorter hypocotyls and were more sensitive to ACC (1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate) than the wild type. The results of our study indicate that SlHDA1 functions as a negative regulator of fruit ripening by affecting ethylene synthesis and carotenoid accumulation.

Abstract The basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) proteins are a large family of transcription factors that control various developmental processes in eukaryotes, but the biological roles of most bHLH proteins are not very clear, especially in tomato. In this study, a PRE-like atypical bHLH gene was isolated and designated as SlPRE2 in tomato. SlPRE2 was highly expressed in immature-green fruits, moderately in young leaves, flowers, and mature-green fruits. To further research the function of SlPRE2, a 35 S:PRE2 binary vector was constructed and transformed into wild type tomato. The transgenic plants showed increased leaf angle and stem internode length, rolling leaves with decreased chlorophyll content. The water loss rate of detached leaves was increased in young transgenic lines but depressed in mature leaves. Besides, overexpression of SlPRE2 promoted morphogenesis in seedling development, producing light-green unripening fruits and yellowing ripen fruits with reduced chlorophyll and carotenoid accumulation in pericarps, respectively. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that expression of the chlorophyll related genes, such as GOLDEN 2-LIKE and RbcS, were decreased in unripening 35 S:PRE2 fruit, and carotenoid biosynthesis-related genes PHYTOENE SYNTHASE1A and ζ-CAROTENE DESATURASE in ripening fruit were also down-regulated. These results suggest that SlPRE2 affects plant morphology and is a negative regulator of fruit pigment accumulation.

Significant improvement in the fire resistance of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) while ensuring its mechanical properties is a tremendous challenge. A novel flame retardant (GO-HCCP, graphene oxide-hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene) was synthesized by nucleophilic substitution of the graphene oxide (GO) and hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (HCCP) and then applied in PET by an in situ polymerization technique. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed a better dispersion of GO-HCCP than GO in the PET matrix. The char yield at 700 °C increased by 32.5% with the addition of GO-HCCP. Moreover, the peak heat release rate (pHRR), peak smoke produce rate (pSPR)and carbon monoxide production (COP)values significantly decreased by 26.0%, 16.7% and 37.5%, respectively, which indicates the outstanding fire and smoke suppression of GO-HCCP. In addition, the composites exhibited higher elastic modulus and tensile strength without compromising the toughness of PET matrix. These significantly reduced fire hazards properties are mainly attributed to the catalytic carbonation of HCCP and the barrier effect of GO. Thus, PET composites with good flame-retardant and mechanical properties were prepared, which provides a new strategy for further flame retardant PET preparation.

OBJECTIVE:To compare dorsal penile nerve block (DPNB) and eutectic mixture of local anesthetics (EMLA) cream for pain relief in infants during circumcision. METHODS:We systematically searched Medline via PubMed, Embase, CNKI and the Cochrane Library Center Register to identify randomized controlled trials up to March 2018. Effect estimates were performed in random effect models. Mean neonate infant pain scale (NIPS) scores, incidence of hematoma, edema and erythema, mean heart rate were conducted to assessed the effect of analgesia. We found that the EMLA had significantly higher pain scores compared to DPNB (SMD = 3.72, 95% CI 1.27-6.17, P = 0.003). In DPNB group, the incidence of hematoma was significantly higher than EMLA group, OR = 0.03, 95% CI 0.00-0.24, P = 0.001. The analysis did not show any significant differences in mean heart rate and the risk of edema and erythema between EMLA and DPNB group (SMD = 21.71, 95% CI = -0.88-44.30, P = 0.06 & OR = 0.40, 95% CI 0.15-1.07, P = 0.07 & OR = 7.33, 95% CI 0.84-64.07, P = 0.07). CONCLUSION:Based on the pooled results from the included studies, we found that DPNB was significantly more effective in pain relief as indicated by mean NIPS score than EMLA in infants during circumcision. However, use of DPNB significantly increased the risk of hematoma.
