Abstract In higher plants, mature male gametophytes have distinct apertures. After pollination, pollen grains germinate, and a pollen tube grows from the aperture to deliver sperm cells to the embryo sac, completing fertilization. In rice, the pollen aperture has a single-pore structure with a collar-like annulus and a plug-like operculum. A crucial step in aperture development is the formation of aperture plasma membrane protrusion (APMP) at the distal polar region of the microspore during the late tetrad stage. Previous studies identified OsINP1 and OsDAF1 as essential regulators of APMP and pollen aperture formation in rice, but their precise molecular mechanisms remain unclear. We demonstrate that the Poaceae-specific OsSRF8 gene, encoding a STRUBBELIG-receptor family 8 protein, is essential for pollen aperture formation in Oryza sativa. Mutants lacking functional OsSRF8 exhibit defects in APMP and pollen aperture formation, like loss-of-function OsINP1 mutants. OsSRF8 is specifically expressed during early anther development and initially diffusely distributed in the microsporocytes. At the tetrad stage, OsSRF8 is recruited by OsINP1 to the pre-aperture region through direct protein-protein interaction, promoting APMP formation. The OsSRF8-OsINP1 complex then recruits OsDAF1 to the APMP site to co-regulate annulus formation. Our findings provide insights into the mechanisms controlling pollen aperture formation in cereal species.

Abstract Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with mixed-lineage leukemia (MLL) gene rearrangements (MLL-r) is an aggressive subtype of blood cancer with dismal prognosis, underscoring the urgent need for novel therapeutic strategies. E1A-binding protein (EP300) and CREB-binding protein (CREBBP) function as essential transcriptional coactivators and acetyltransferases, governing leukemogenesis through diverse mechanisms. Targeting EP300/CREBBP holds great promise for treating leukemia with some certain cytogenetic abnormalities. Here, we demonstrated that EP300 and CREBBP are core epigenetic regulators in the pathogenesis of MLL-r AML through assaying the transposase-accessible chromatin with high-throughput sequencing (ATAC-seq). Knocking-out EP300/CREBBP and inhibitor (A-485) treatment depressed the MLL-r cells proliferation, while the MLL wild-type cells remained uninfluenced. We found that the CDK4/RB/E2F axis was downregulated specifically in MLL-r AML cell after A-485 treatment by RNA-seq, western blot and cut-tag analyses. EP300/CREBBP inhibitor selectively exerted potent anti-leukemia activity through blocking the MLL-r-BET complex binding to H3K27Ac modification on critical genes loci, distinct from global histone acetylation. Collectively, our study identified EP300/CREBBP as a critical epigenetic driver of MLL-r leukemia and validated their therapeutic potential through targeting inhibition, offering a promising avenue for improving clinical outcomes in this aggressive leukemia.

IntroductionOilseed flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) yields are phosphate (P) fertilizer-limited, especially in the temperate semiarid dryland regions of North China. However, there are limited studies on the effects of P-fertilizer inputs on plant growth and soil microorganisms in flax planting systems.MethodsTo address this gap, a field experiment was conducted with four treatments: no P addition and application of 40, 80, and 120 kg P ha-¹, respectively. The aim was to investigate the influence of various P fertilizer inputs on yield, plant dry matter, P use efficiency, as well as the population of soil arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and bacteria in dryland oilseed flax.ResultsOur results show that the P addition increased the dry matter, and the yield of oilseed increased by ~200% at 120 kg P ha-1 addition with inhibition on the growth of AMF hyphae. The moderate P supply (80 kg ha-1) was adequate for promoting P translocation, P use efficiency, and P recovery efficiency. Soil pH, available P, and available K significantly (p< 0.05) promoted the abundance of the dominant taxa (Acidobacteria_GP6, Sphingobacteria and Bacteroidetes). In addition, it is imperative to comprehend the mechanism of interaction between phosphorus-fertilizer inputs and microbiota in oilseed flax soil. DiscussionThis necessitates further research to quantify and optimize the moderate phosphorus supply, regulate soil microbes to ensure high phosphorus utilization, and ultimately establish a sustainable system for oilseed flax cultivation in the local area.

Background: Several studies have systematically assessed the efficacy and safety of progressive or recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). However, the discernible limitations of efficacy and the elevated costs of interventions instigate an investigation into the cost-effectiveness of these treatments. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate cost-effectivenesses of 11 pharmacotherapeutic interventions for recurrent GBM from the perspective of healthcare payers in the United States (US) and China. Design: A model-based pharmacoeconomic evaluation. Methods: A partitioned survival model was employed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of 11 distinct drug-based treatments. The clinical efficacy and safety data were obtained from a network meta-analysis, while the medical expenditure and health utility were primarily derived from published literature. One-way sensitivity analyses, scenario analyses, and probabilistic sensitivity analyses (PSA) were performed to scrutinize the impact of potential uncertainties to ensure the robustness of the model. The primary endpoint was the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio. Results: Among the therapeutic interventions evaluated, lomustine emerged as the cheapest option, with costs amounting to $78,998 in the United States and $30,231 in China, respectively. Regorafenib displayed the highest quality-adjusted life years at 0.475 in the United States and 0.465 in China. The one-way sensitivity analyses underscored that drug price was a key factor influencing cost-effectiveness. Both scenario and PSA consistently demonstrated that, considering the willingness-to-pay thresholds, lomustine was a cost-effective treatment with probability of more than 94%. Conclusion: In comparison to the alternative antitumor agents, lomustine was likely to be a cost-effective option for relapsed GBM patients from the perspective of healthcare payers in both the United States and China.

BackgroundMultiple sclerosis (MS) represents a multifaceted autoimmune ailment, prompting the development and widespread utilization of numerous therapeutic interventions. However, extant medications for MS have proven inadequate in mitigating relapses and halting disease progression. Innovative drug targets for preventing multiple sclerosis are still required. The objective of this study is to discover novel therapeutic targets for MS by integrating single-cell transcriptomics and Mendelian randomization analysis.MethodsThe study integrated MS genome-wide association study (GWAS) data, single-cell transcriptomics (scRNA-seq), expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL), and protein quantitative trait loci (pQTL) data for analysis and utilized two-sample Mendelian randomization study to comprehend the causal relationship between proteins and MS. Sequential analyses involving colocalization and Phenome-wide association studies (PheWAS) were conducted to validate the causal role of candidate genes.ResultsFollowing stringent quality control preprocessing of scRNA-seq data, 1,123 expression changes across seven peripheral cell types were identified. Among the seven most prevalent cell types, 97 genes exhibiting at least one eQTL were discerned. Examination of MR associations between 28 proteins with available index pQTL signals and the risk of MS outcomes was conducted. Co-localization analyses and PheWAS indicated that FCRL3 may exert influence on MS.ConclusionThe integration of scRNA-seq and MR analysis facilitated the identification of potential therapeutic targets for MS. Notably, FCRL3, implicated in immune function, emerged as a significant drug target in the deCODE databases. This research underscores the importance of FCRL3 in MS therapy and advocates for further investigation and clinical trials targeting FCRL3.

Abstract The objective is to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of the S8 navigation system and the Tinavi orthopaedic surgery robot in the treatment of upper cervical instability. The research methods adopted are as follows. The clinical data of patients with upper cervical instability who underwent surgery from May 2021 to December 2021 were analysed retrospectively. Patients were divided into a navigation group (assisted by the S8 navigation system) and a tinavi group (assisted by the Tinavi robot) according to the auxiliary system used. Computed tomography and digital radiography were performed after the operation. The accuracy of pedicle screw placement was evaluated using the criteria put forward by Rampersaud. Degree of facet joint violation, visual analogue scale score, neck disability index and Japanese orthopaedic association score were recorded and assessed during follow-up examinations in both groups. Record two groups of surgery-related indicators. Record the complications of the two groups. A total of 50 patients were included. 21 patients in the navigation group and 29 in the tinavi group. The results of the study are as follows. The average follow-up time was 12.1 months. There was no significant difference in nail placement accuracy between the navigation and tinavi groups (P > 0.05); however, the navigation group had a significantly higher rate of facet joint violation than that of tinavi group (P 0.05). We come to the following conclusion. The Stealth Station S8 navigation system (Medtronic, USA), which also uses an optical tracking system, and the Tinavi Orthopedic robot have shown the same high accuracy and satisfactory clinical results in the treatment of upper cervical instability. Although the S8 navigation system still has many limitations, it still has good application prospects and is a new tool for spine surgery.

A compact high-power 2.8-µm laser with a 2 at.%-doped Er3+:CaF2 crystal was demonstrated, which delivered a maximum output power of 2.848 W with a slope efficiency of 26.3 %. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest output power among all the reported LD end-pumped Er3+-doped fluoride crystal lasers. Experimentally, the negative thermal lens effect was characterized and the thermal lens optical diopters for two axes were obtained as Mx = -0.21 m−1/W and My = -0.33 m−1/W. In addition, the visible fluorescence spectra of Er3+:CaF2 crystal with and without laser operation were measured and analyzed. With Fe2+:ZnSe as saturable absorber, a passively Q-switched 2.759-µm Er3+:CaF2 laser with an average output power of 75 mW, a peak power of 2.39 W, a single pulse energy of 1.81 µJ, and a pulse width of 755.3 ns was obtained at a repetition rate of 41.55 kHz.

The underlying complexity of urban space can be manifested by its fractal forms and scaling statistics. This paper examines these characteristics at the intra-urban scale through the lens of clustered street junctions (including road ends) in two Chinese metropolitan areas: Beijing and Shenzhen. We derived the cluster sets with Euclidean distance thresholds starting at 100 meters (m) and ending at 1000 m, and outlined each cluster using a concave-hull method to maintain their original irregular shapes. Within each delimited cluster, we examined four urban attributes: gross domestic product, number of street nodes, polygon area, and population. Our analysis revealed that power law distribution applied to almost every cluster set in terms of the four attributes, but varied from one attribute to another or from city to city, represented primarily by fluctuated power law exponents and ht-index values whose profiles along with the cluster growth can effectively characterize the urban structure. Additionally, we computed the spectrum of intra-urban scaling exponents with cluster size increments, contributing new insights into the allometric relationships between urban configuration and function.

Drilling-cutting method is a commonly used coal bump risk detection method in coal seams. The efficient and accurate acquisition of the quality of drilling-cuttings is a technical difficulty in engineering site, which could directly affect the risk detection efficiency and results. Based on the discharging characteristics of drilling-cuttings and the principle of fluid quality weighing, an automatic measuring device for drilling-cuttings suitable for different diameter boreholes is developed. This device consists of cuttings collecting unit, weighing unit, data processing system and fixing unit. It can measure the quality of the drilling-cuttings according to the flow-quality of drilling-cuttings discharged from the borehole and the calibration function. The measurement accuracy of this method is verified by laboratory test and field test. Research shows that the drilling process and drilling pipe installation process can be easily identified based on the drilling cuttings’ flow quality – time curve. The accumulated flow-quality of drilling-cuttings per meter has positive linear correlation with its actual quality, and the calibration function is related to the device measurement parameters, such as the dip angel of the weighing slideway and the sampling frequency. Compared with the conventional weighing method, when measuring the drilling-cuttings by using the automatic measurement device, the maximum measurement error of the laboratory test is less than 6.5%, and the average error of the field test is 5.13%, while the data with error less than 10% account for 86.91%. The device measure parameters and the engineering factors, such as drilling-cuttings flow velocity and particle size, have little effect on the measurement accuracy. In the construction of conventional-diameter drilling-cutting borehole, the drilling pipe installation process time is reduced by 25.16%, and the construction efficiency is increased by 11.84%. The distribution law of drilling-cuttings in the shallow part of the large-diameter destressing borehole is consistent with that of the conventional-diameter drilling-cutting borehole, and the distribution of drilling-cuttings in deeper roadway side can be obtained. The proposed automatic measurement method of drilling-cuttings can improve the construction operability of large-diameter drilling-cutting method, and can realize the synchronous operation of pressure relief and drilling-cuttings measurement.

Abstract Breakdown of reproductive isolation facilitates flow of useful trait genes into crop plants from their wild relatives. Hybrid sterility, a major form of reproductive isolation exists between cultivated rice (Oryza sativa) and wild rice (O. meridionalis, Mer). Here, we report the cloning of qHMS1, a quantitative trait locus controlling hybrid male sterility between these two species. Like qHMS7, another locus we cloned previously, qHMS1 encodes a toxin-antidote system, but differs in the encoded proteins, their evolutionary origin, and action time point during pollen development. In plants heterozygous at qHMS1, ~ 50% of pollens carrying qHMS1-D (an allele from cultivated rice) are selectively killed. In plants heterozygous at both qHMS1 and qHMS7, ~ 75% pollens without co-presence of qHMS1-Mer and qHMS7-D are selectively killed, indicating that the antidotes function in a toxin-dependent manner. Our results indicate that different toxin-antidote systems provide stacked reproductive isolation for maintaining species identity and shed light on breakdown of hybrid male sterility.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common malignancies in men with a poor prognosis. It is therefore of great clinical importance to find reliable prognostic indicators for PCa. Many studies have revealed the pivotal role of protein lactylation in tumor development and progression. This research aims to analyze the effect of lactylation-related genes on PCa prognosis.Methods: By downloading mRNA-Seq data of TCGA PCa, we obtained the differential genes related to lactylation in PCa. Five machine learning algorithms were used to screen for lactylation-related key genes for PCa, then the five overlapping key genes were used to construct a survival prognostic model by lasso cox regression analysis. Furthermore, the relationships between the model and related pathways, tumor mutation and immune cell subpopulations, and drug sensitivity were explored. Moreover, two risk groups were established according to the risk score calculated by the five lactylation-related genes (LRGs). Subsequently, a nomogram scoring system was established to predict disease-free survival (DFS) of patients by combining clinicopathological features and lactylation-related risk scores. In addition, the mRNA expression levels of five genes were verified in PCa cell lines by qPCR.Results: We identified 5 key LRGs (ALDOA, DDX39A, H2AX, KIF2C, RACGAP1) and constructed the LRGs prognostic model. The AUC values for 1 -, 3 -, and 5-year DFS in the TCGA dataset were 0.762, 0.745, and 0.709, respectively. The risk score was found a better predictor of DFS than traditional clinicopathological features in PCa. A nomogram that combined the risk score with clinical variables accurately predicted the outcome of the patients. The PCa patients in the high-risk group have a higher proportion of regulatory T cells and M2 macrophage, a higher tumor mutation burden, and a worse prognosis than those in the low-risk group. The high-risk group had a lower IC50 for certain chemotherapeutic drugs, such as Docetaxel, and Paclitaxel than the low-risk group. Furthermore, five key LRGs were found to be highly expressed in castration-resistant PCa cells.Conclusion: The lactylation-related genes prognostic model can effectively predict the DFS and therapeutic responses in patients with PCa.

Background: Novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) have been recommended by guidelines as the first-line drugs for preventing cardiogenic stroke. We aimed to provide an overview of the prescription trends and dosing appropriateness of NOACs in China.Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of NOAC prescriptions using the Hospital Prescription Analysis Cooperation Project data from 2016 to 2022. Various patient features, such as gender, age, city, year, source, department visited, original diagnosis, dosing, cost, and insurance type, were collected and analyzed to examine the trends and dosing appropriateness of NOAC usage in ischemic stroke patients.Results: 62,014 NOAC prescriptions were analyzed, including 16,602 for dabigatran, 45,253 for rivaroxaban, and 159 for apixaban. 85.14% of the patients were aged 65 or above, and tertiary hospitals accounted for 95.97% of NOAC prescriptions. NOAC prescriptions rose from 1828 in 2016 to 13,998 in 2021 but dropped to 13,166 in 2022. The percentage of annual prescriptions for NOACs among stroke patients has increased from 0.05% in 2016 to 0.37% in 2022. Total drug cost increased from ¥704541.18 in 2016 to ¥4128648.44 in 2021, then decreased to ¥1680109.14 in 2022. Prescriptions were divided into 48,321 appropriate and 11,262 inappropriate dosing groups, showing significant differences in medications, age, year, city type, hospital level, source, insurance type, and department visited (all p < 0.001). The median drug cost for inappropriate dosing was higher than for appropriate dosing (¥55.20 VS ¥83.80). The top comorbidities in ischemic stroke patients were atrial fibrillation (35.30%), hypertension (32.75%), and coronary heart disease (16.48%).Conclusion: The application of NOACs in the Chinese population is increasing. Our findings highlight the frequent deviation from labeled dosing of NOACs in clinical practice. Continued efforts are necessary to promote the appropriate use of NOACs according to the standard dosage in the drug insert.

Alkaline stress poses a significant challenge to the healthy growth of fish. Ginger polysaccharide (GP) is one of the main active substances in ginger and has pharmacological effects, such as anti-oxidation and immune regulation. However, the physiological regulatory mechanism of GP addition to diet on alkalinity stress in crucian carp remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the potential protective effects of dietary GP on antioxidant capacity, gene expression levels, intestinal microbiome, and metabolomics of crucian carp exposed to carbonate (NaHCO3). The CK group (no GP supplementation) and COG group (NaHCO3 stress and no GP supplementation) were set up. The GPCS group (NaHCO3 stress and 0.4% GP supplementation) was stressed for seven days. Based on these data, GP significantly increased the activities of total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), acid phosphatase (ACP), and alkaline phosphatase (AKP) in carp under alkalinity stress (p < 0.05) and decreased the activity of malon dialdehyde (MDA) (p < 0.05). GP restored the activity of GSH-PX, ACP, and AKP to CK levels. The expression levels of tumor necrosis factor β (TGF-β), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and interleukin 8 (IL-8) genes were decreased, and the expression levels of determination factor kappa-B (NF-κB) and interleukin 10 (IL-10) genes were increased (p < 0.05). Based on 16 S rRNA high-throughput sequencing, GP improved the changes in the intestinal microbial diversity and structural composition of crucian carp caused by NaHCO3 exposure. In particular, GP increased the relative abundance of Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes and decreased the relative abundance of Actinobacteria. The metabolic response of GP to NaHCO3 exposed crucian carp guts was studied using LC/MS. Compared to the COG group, the GPCS group had 64 different metabolites and enriched 10 metabolic pathways, including lipid metabolism, nucleotide metabolism, and carbohydrate metabolism. The addition of GP to feed can promote galactose metabolism and provide an energy supply to crucian carp, thus alleviating the damage induced by alkalinity stress. In conclusion, GP can mitigate the effects of NaHCO3 alkalinity stress by regulating immune function, intestinal flora, and intestinal metabolism in crucian carp. These findings provide a novel idea for studying the mechanism of salt-alkali tolerance in crucian carp by adding GP to feed.

With the advancement of deep learning techniques, the number of model parameters has been increasing, leading to significant memory consumption and limits in the deployment of such models in real-time applications. To reduce the number of model parameters and enhance the generalization capability of neural networks, we propose a method called Decoupled MetaDistil, which involves decoupled meta-distillation. This method utilizes meta-learning to guide the teacher model and dynamically adjusts the knowledge transfer strategy based on feedback from the student model, thereby improving the generalization ability. Furthermore, we introduce a decoupled loss method to explicitly transfer positive sample knowledge and explore the potential of negative samples knowledge. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

The incidence of lumbar disc herniation has gradually increased in recent years, and most patients have symptoms of low back pain and nerve compression, which brings a heavy burden to patients and society alike. Although the causes of disc herniation are complex, intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is considered to be the most common factor. The intervertebral disc (IVD) is composed of the upper and lower cartilage endplates, nucleus pulposus, and annulus fibrosus. Aging, abnormal mechanical stress load, and metabolic disorders can exacerbate the progression of IDD. Among them, high glucose and high-fat diets (HFD) can lead to fat accumulation, abnormal glucose metabolism, and inflammation, which are considered important factors affecting the homeostasis of IDD. Diabetes and advanced glycation end products (AGEs) accumulation- can lead to various adverse effects on the IVD, including cell senescence, apoptosis, pyroptosis, proliferation, and Extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation. While current research provides a fundamental basis for the treatment of high glucose-induced IDD patients. further exploration into the mechanisms of abnormal glucose metabolism affecting IDD and in the development of targeted drugs will provide the foundation for the effective treatment of these patients. We aimed to systematically review studies regarding the effects of hyperglycemia on the progress of IDD.

The Ordos Basin is the main tight gas-producing basin in China. Under the background of strong heterogeneous physical property, there is still high porosity and permeability “sweet spot” in tight reservoirs. Feldspar dissolution exerts a significant effect on porosity/permeability, while its genetic mechanism is unclear, which restricts the prediction of effective reservoir. In this paper, genesis of feldspar dissolution and its effect on reservoir heterogeneity were studies. Carboniferous-Permian Formation, which is the main gas-producing strata in northeast margin of Ordos Basin, is taken as the target. Based on the methods of thin section observation, physical property test, inclusion, isotope and productivity analysis, mechanism of feldspar dissolution, and its positive modification to tight sandstone reservoir are studied. The results show that the target sandstone is dominantly made up of litharenite and feldspathic litharenite. About 98.6% of the samples possess permeability less than 1 mD, while 89.7% of the samples possess porosity less than 10%. The high porosity/permeability space within tight reservoirs is dominated by dissolved pores, accounting for more than 80% of the total pore space. The dissolution minerals are mainly associated with feldspar, and the amount of feldspar dissolution is positively correlated with porosity and permeability. According to the fluid chemical information of quartz overgrowth and ankerite (related to feldspar dissolution), feldspar dissolved pores are caused by organic acid derived from the thermal maturity of organic matter. According to production data, no daily production can be achieved in single well, when the porosity and permeability are less than 7% and 0.1 mD, respectively. However, once it exceeds this porosity/permeability threshold value, the production capacity is exponentially improved. Furthermore, when surface porosity of feldspar dissolution exceeds 7%, most values of the porosity and permeability exceed the threshold values of the allowable productivity, indicating that extensive feldspar dissolution is favorable factor for effective reservoir space development in tight reservoirs.

Tree allometry plays a crucial role in tree survival, stability, and timber quantity and quality of mixed-species plantations. However, the responses of tree allometry to resource utilisation within the framework of interspecific competition and complementarity remain poorly understood. Taking into consideration strong- and weak-space competition (SC and WC), as well as N2-fixing and non-N2-fixing tree species (FN and nFN), a mixed-species planting trial was conducted for Betula alnoides, a pioneer tree species, which was separately mixed with Acacia melanoxylon (SC ​+ ​FN), Erythrophleum fordii (WC ​+ ​FN), Eucalyptus cloeziana (SC ​+ ​nFN) and Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis (WC ​+ ​nFN) in southern China. Six years after planting, tree growth, total nitrogen (N) and carbon (C) contents, and the natural abundances of 15N and 13C in the leaves were measured for each species, and the mycorrhizal colonisation rates of B. alnoides were investigated under each treatment. Allometric variations and their relationships with space competition and nutrient-related factors were analyzed. The results showed a consistent effect of space competition on the height-diameter relationship of B. alnoides in mixtures with FN or nFN. The tree height growth of B. alnoides was significantly promoted under high space competition, and growth in diameter at breast height (DBH), tree height and crown size were all expedited in mixtures with FN. The symbiotic relationship between ectomycorrhizal fungi and B. alnoides was significantly influenced by both space competition and N2 fixation by the accompanying tree species, whereas such significant effects were absent for arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Furthermore, high space competition significantly decreased the water use efficiency (WUE) of B. alnoides, and its N use efficiency (NUE) was much lower in the FN mixtures. Structural equation modeling further demonstrated that the stem allometry of B. alnoides was affected by its NUE and WUE via changes in its height growth, and crown allometry was influenced by the mycorrhizal symbiotic relationship. Our findings provide new insights into the mechanisms driving tree allometric responses to above- and below-ground resource competition and complementarity in mixed-species plantations, which are instructive for the establishment of mixed-species plantations.

Background: Hyperuricemia is a serious health problem related to not only gout but also cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Low-dose aspirin was reported to inhibit uric acid excretion, which leads to hyperuricemia. To decrease hyperuricemia-related CVD, this study aimed to identify the risk of hyperuricemia in people taking aspirin.Method: The original data of this cross-sectional study were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2011 and 2018. Participants who filled in the “Preventive Aspirin Use” questionnaire with a positive answer were included in the analysis. Six machine learning algorithms were screened, and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) was employed to establish a model to predict the risk of hyperuricemia.Results: A total of 805 participants were enrolled in the final analysis, of which 190 participants had hyperuricemia. The participants were divided into a training set and testing set at a ratio of 8:2. The area under the curve for the training set was 0.864 and for the testing set was 0.811. The SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) method was used to evaluate the performances of the modeling. Based on the SHAP results, the feature ranking interpretation showed that the estimated glomerular filtration rate, body mass index, and waist circumference were the three most important features for hyperuricemia in individuals taking aspirin. In addition, triglyceride, hypertension, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, age, race, and smoking were also correlated with the development of hyperuricemia.Conclusion: A predictive model established by XGBoost algorithms can potentially help clinicians make an early detection of hyperuricemia risk in people taking low-dose aspirin.

Objective: Machine learning (ML) models have been widely applied in stroke prediction, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis assessment. We aimed to conduct a comprehensive scientometrics analysis of studies related to ML in stroke and reveal its current status, knowledge structure, and global trends. Methods: All documents related to ML in stroke were retrieved from the Web of Science database on March 15, 2023. We refined the documents by including only original articles and reviews in the English language. The literature published over the past decade was imported into scientometrics software for influence detection and collaborative network analysis. Results: 2389 related publications were included. The annual publication outputs demonstrated explosive growth, with an average growth rate of 63.99 %. Among the 90 countries/regions involved, the United States (729 articles) and China (636 articles) were the most productive countries. Frontiers in Neurology was the most prolific journal with 94 articles. 234 highly cited articles, each with more than 31 citations, were detected. Keyword analysis revealed a total of 5333 keywords, with a predominant focus on the application of ML models in the early diagnosis, classification, and prediction of “acute ischemic stroke” and “atrial fibrillation-related stroke”. The keyword “classification” had the first and longest burst, spanning from 2013 to 2018. ‘Upport vector machine’ got the strongest burst strength with 6.2. Keywords such as ‘mechanical thrombectomy’, ‘expression’, and 'prognosis' experienced bursts in 2022 and have continued to be prominent. Conclusion: The applications of ML in stroke are increasingly diverse and extensive, with researchers showing growing interest over the past decade. However, the clinical application of ML in stroke is still in its early stages, and several limitations and challenges need to be addressed for its widespread adoption in clinical practice.

Abstract Coal mine accidents, for example, water leakage and collapse, can damage the circuit system, and they in turn can affect the stable operation of the coal mine. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the causes of coal mine accidents and reduce the number of accidents in coal mines. Government and enterprises have already accumulated numerous coal mine accident cases. To summarize the characteristics and rules of accidents, survey the deep cause of the accident, avoid the recurrence of similar accidents, and early pre‐control of risk source, there is a need to analyze the correlation in the accident characteristics. Then, with the help of ontology knowledge service model, we address this issue in this article. For guaranteeing the inference efficiency of ontology knowledge, we propose a semiautomatic construction method for coal mine accident cases to construct ontology. Here, the reliability of ontology construction and the professionalism of domain knowledge provide a feasible approach to ontology learning using structured and semi‐structured data sources. Furthermore, the weighted Word2vec and spectral clustering method are combined, an intelligent recommendation algorithm with accident ontology is accordingly presented, while presenting a local optimal distance calculation similarity strategy. This method can serve as an assistant to help users mine similar coal mine accident cases. Finally, the experimental results show that after comparing with some other popular methods, the proposed approach can achieve a satisfactory performance on the coal mine dataset with an accuracy of 99.47%, the precision of 98.92%, and the F1‐score of 99.35.

Abstract The objective was to compare the clinical efficacy of percutaneous pedicle screw internal fixation with the aid of the TINAVI orthopaedic surgery robot with that of traditional open surgery for Levine–Edward type IIA (postreduction) hangman fractures and to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the TINAVI robot-assisted orthopaedic surgery procedure. The clinical data of 60 patients with Levine–Edward type IIA (postreduction) hangman fractures treated surgically from June 2015 to February 2022 were analysed retrospectively. Among these patients, 25 were treated with percutaneous pedicle screw fixation under TINAVI (the robot group), and 35 were treated with pedicle screw implantation assisted by a conventional C-arm X-ray machine (the traditional operation group). The pedicle screw placement grade was evaluated according to the Rampersaud scale. The correct rate of pedicle screw placement was calculated. The invasion of adjacent facet joints, VAS score (Visual Analogue Scale), NDI score (Neck Disability Index), SF-36 score (36-Item Short-Form Health Survey questionnaire), EQ-5D score (EuroQol-5 dimensions questionnaire) and operation-related data were recorded, and patients were followed up. All patients were followed up for an average of 15.0 ± 3.4 months. The accuracy of screw placement in the robot group was higher than that in the traditional operation group, while the rates of intraoperative blood loss and invasion of the facet joint were lower and the incision length and length of hospital stay were shorter. On the 3rd day after the operation, the VAS score in the robot group was significantly higher than that in the traditional operation group, but there was no significant difference in the NDI score. On the 3rd day after the operation, the SF-36 and EQ-5 questionnaire scores of the robot group were better than those of the traditional operation group. No complications occurred in any of the patients. Postoperative cervical X-ray showed that the cervical vertebra was stable, and there was no fracture, angle or displacement. Postoperative CT showed that all fractures healed, and the average healing time was 3.4 months. The treatment of Levine–Edward IIA (postrepositioning) hangman fractures with percutaneous pedicle fixation assisted by the TINAVI orthopaedic surgery robot can significantly improve screw placement accuracy with a low rate of invasion of the adjacent facet joint, a short operation time, a low bleeding rate, and high patient satisfaction. Although there are still many disadvantages, it still has good prospects for application.

Abstract Recurrent heat stress and pathogen invasion seriously threaten crop production, and abiotic stress often antagonizes biotic stress response against pathogens. However, the molecular mechanisms of trade-offs between thermotolerance and defense remain obscure. Here, we identify a rice thermo-sensitive mutant that displays a defect in floret development under high temperature with a mutation in SUPPRESSOR OF GENE SILENCING 3a (OsSGS3a). OsSGS3a interacts with its homolog OsSGS3b and modulates the biogenesis of trans-acting small interfering RNA (tasiRNA) targeting AUXIN RESPONSE FACTORS (ARFs). We find that OsSGS3a/b positively, while OsARF3a/b and OsARF3la/lb negatively modulate thermotolerance. Moreover, OsSGS3a negatively, while OsARF3a/b and OsARF3la/lb positively regulate disease resistance to the bacterial pathogen Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) and the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae (M. oryzae). Taken together, our study uncovers a previously unknown trade-off mechanism that regulates distinct immunity and thermotolerance through the OsSGS3-tasiRNA-OsARF3 module, highlighting the regulation of abiotic-biotic stress response trade-off in plants.

Abstract Background There is an increased concern that statins may have an unintended effect of elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. We conducted a large sample real-world study to test the association. Methods This retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from an integrated SuValue database, which includes 221 hospitals across China covering more than 200,000 of population with longitudinal follow-up to 10 years. Propensity score matching was applied to identify two comparable cohorts with statin users and non-statin users. Detailed follow-up information such as Lp(a) levels were extracted. The hazard ratio was calculated on Lp(a) changes based on the statin usage cohorts. Detailed subgroup and different characteristic cohorts’ analyses were also conducted. Results After baseline propensity score matching, a total of 42,166 patients were included in a 1:1 matched ratio between statin users and non-statin users. In the case of no difference in low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), Lp(a) was increased significantly with the use of statins (adjusted HR 1.47; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.43–1.50). Lp(a) increase was observed in various subgroup analyses and different cohorts. The dose intensity of statin was positively associated with the evaluated Lp(a) level. Conclusion The use of statins was associated with an increased risk of Lp(a) elevation compared with non-statin use counterparts. The clinical relevance of these increases needs to be addressed in surrogate marker trials and/or large, cardiovascular outcomes trials.

The 1-3 piezoelectric composite is the key component of the acoustic transducer, which is widely used in detection, due to the high energy conversion efficiency, cheap raw material, and low aging. To reveal the influence of epoxy mixture, used to connect the piezoelectric column, on the composite performance, a 1-3 piezoelectric composite model was built. The effects of mixture properties on the impedance curves, vibration mode, and deformation displacement of the composite were determined. Six 1-3 piezoelectric composites with different filling mixture properties, by changing the glass microspheres’ mass ratio in the epoxy, were prepared and measured to validate the model. The results showed that with the increase in the proportion of the glass microsphere in the epoxy mixture, the vibration coupling of the piezoelectric composites was gradually eliminated. The acoustic impedance was reduced by 12%. The electromechanical coupling coefficient and effective electromechanical coupling coefficient were increased by 5.4% and 8.3%, respectively. The density and Young’s modulus decrease in filling mixture can significantly improve piezoelectric composite performance.

In the process of coalbed methane development, drilling fluid and fracturing fluid cannot achieve absolute compatibility with formation. The incompatibility between the working fluid and reservoir will lead to the intrusion of working fluid into the reservoir and cause reservoir pollution. This is a very common phenomenon. There is a large amount of pulverized coal in the coal seam, and the intrusion of working liquid will be combined with the pulverized coal to form cement to block the seepage space in the reservoir. Since pressure relief and fracturing fluid backflow will be performed at the first time after fracturing, the intrusion range of the working fluid is small, generally reaching 10 m to 50 m. Compared with a conventional gas reservoir or shale gas reservoir, the working fluid loss during CBM development will seriously affect the subsequent production project and even make the gas well lose production capacity. On the other hand, in order to avoid this phenomenon, measures such as acidification or volumetric fracturing are sometimes used to improve the seepage environment near the well and near the fracture. The purpose of this study is to quantitatively evaluate the impacts of working fluid filtration and reservoir reconstruction on production. In this study, a single well productivity evaluation model and sensitivity analysis method considering drilling fluid filtration loss, fracturing fluid filtration loss, reservoir reconstruction and other processes is proposed. The formation mechanism of fluid loss during drilling and fracturing is described, and the productivity evaluation model considering fluid loss is combined with the Langmuir isothermal adsorption equation, steady-state diffusion law, Darcy’s seepage law and Duhamel convolution formation. Combined with the distribution of actual gas reservoir flow characteristics, the sensitivity of single well productivity to gas reservoir porosity, gas reservoir permeability, coal seam adsorption coefficient, working fluid filtration loss and reservoir reconstruction measures are analyzed. Through the analysis and fitting of the actual production data on site, the relationship curve can better fit the field production data, and the evaluation results are in line with the drilling and fracturing conditions at that time and the subsequent production conditions, with small errors. The obtained method is suitable for predicting the productivity of fractured vertical wells in different working conditions and provides a basis for the development and productivity prediction of CBM reservoirs in China and in international cooperation.

Abstract Biosorbents have been extensively studied for heavy metal adsorption due to their advantages of low cost and high efficiency. In the study, the living and non-living biomass of Cupriavidus necator GX_5 previously isolated were evaluated for their adsorption capacity and/or removal efficiency for Cd (II) through batch experiments, SEM and FT-IR investigations. The maximum removal efficiency rates for the live and dead biomass were 60.51% and 78.53%, respectively, at an optimum pH of 6, a dosage of 1 g/L and an initial Cd (II) concentration of 5 mg/L. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model was more suitable for fitting the experimental data, indicating that the rate-limiting step might be chemisorption. The Freundlich isotherm model fit better than the Langmuir isotherm model, implying that the adsorption process of both biosorbents was heterogeneous. FT-IR observation reflected that various functional groups were involved in Cd (II) adsorption: –OH, –NH, C=O, C–O and C–C groups for the living biomass and –OH, –NH, C–H, C = O, C–N and N–H groups for the dead biomass. Our results imply that non-living biosorbents have a higher capacity and stronger strength for absorbing Cd (II) than living biomass. Therefore, we suggest that dead GX_5 is a promising adsorbent and can be used in Cd (II)-contaminated environments.

Abstract The ecological effects of mass‐flowering crops on pollinator abundance and species richness of neighbouring habitats are well established, yet the potential evolutionary consequences remain unclear. We studied effects of proximity to a mass‐flowering crop on the pollination of local co‐flowering plants and on patterns of natural selection on a pollination‐generalised plant on the Tibetan Plateau. We recorded pollinator visitation rates and community composition at different distances (near vs. far) to oilseed rape (Brassica napus) fields in two habitat types and quantified pollinator‐mediated selection on attractive traits of Trollius ranunculoides. The proximity to oilseed rape increased pollinator visitation in neighbouring alpine meadows and changed pollinator composition in neighbouring shrub meadows. Trollius ranunculoides in the alpine meadow near oilseed rape received three times more pollinator visits (mainly bees) and consequently had a 16.5% increase in seed set but also received slightly more heterospecific pollen per stigma. In contrast, pollinator visitation to T. ranunculoides in the shrub meadow near oilseed rape was three times lower (mainly flies), leading to a 10.7% lower seed despite no effect on pollen deposition. The proximity to the oilseed rape field intensified pollinator‐mediated selection on flower size and weakened selection on flower height of T. ranunculoides in the alpine meadow but did not affect phenotypic selection on either trait in the shrub meadow. Our study highlights context‐dependent variation in plant–pollinator interactions close to mass‐flowering oilseed rape, suggesting potential effects on the evolution of flower traits of native plants through altered pollinator‐mediated selection. However, context dependence may make these effects difficult to predict.

Abstract Surface engineering is effective for developing materials with novel properties, multifunctionality, and smart features that can enable their use in emerging applications. However, surface engineering of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to add color properties and functionalities has not been well established. Herein, a new surface engineering strategy is developed to achieve rainbow‐colored CNTs with high chroma, high brightness, and strong color travel for visual hydrogen sensing. This approach involved constructing a bilayer structure of W and WO3 on CNTs (CNT/W/WO3) and a trilayer structure of W, WO3, and Pd on CNTs (CNT/W/WO3/Pd) with tunable thicknesses. The resulting CNT/W/WO3 composite film exhibits a wide range of visible colors, including yellow, orange, magenta, violet, blue, cyan, and green, owing to strong thin‐film interference. This coloring method outperforms other structural coloring methods in both brightness and chroma. The smart CNT/W/WO3/Pd films with porous characteristics quickly and precisely detect the hydrogen leakage site. Furthermore, the smart CNT/W/WO3/Pd films allow a concentration as low as 0.6% H2/air to be detected by the naked eye in 58 s, offering a very practical and safe approach for the detection and localization of leaks in onboard hydrogen tanks.

BackgroundObservational studies have found an increased risk of stroke in patients with spondyloarthritis, but the results are susceptible to reverse causality and confounders. Therefore, the study aimed to further explore the association between spondyloarthritis and different subtypes of stroke by using a two sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.MethodsGenetic instrumental variables for spondyloarthritis were identified using summary level data from a genome-wide association study involving 201,581 people. Summary statistics from the Multiancestry Genome-wide Association Study of Stroke Consortium were used to obtain genetic data on stroke. There was no sample overlap between the exposure and outcome datasets. Inverse-variance weighted was considered the primary MR method for causal analysis. Heterogeneity, pleiotropy and sensitivity analyses were performed to ensure robustness, and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) with potential confounders was further screened in the PhenoScanner database to better evaluate the stability of our study.ResultsOne SNP (rs1065045) was excluded due to schizophrenia. After excluding SNP (rs1065045), results of the second MR analysis were slightly different from the first, which were considered as the final result: a significant positive causality between spondyloarthritis and cardioembolic stroke (OR=1.296, 95% CI:1.094-1.534, p=0.003); a possible positive causality between spondyloarthritis and any stroke (OR=1.082, 95% CI:1.016-1.152, p=0.013)/any ischemic stroke (OR=1.086, 95% CI:1.013-1.163, p=0.020); no significant/possible causality between spondyloarthritis and small vessel stroke (OR=1.168, 95% CI:0.993-1.375, p=0.061). Insufficient power may be one possible reason why a causality was not observed between spondyloarthritis in our study.ConclusionsThis study suggests that the possible causative effects of spondyloarthritis predicted by genetics on stroke may be limited to any stroke, any ischemic stroke, and cardioembolic stroke, especially the last.

Tree height (H) and stem diameter at breast height (DBH) (H-D) relationship is correlated with timber yield and quality as well as stability of forest and is crucial in forest management and genetic breeding. It is influenced by not only environmental factors such as site quality and climate factors but also genetic control that is mostly neglected. A dataset of H and DBH of 25 provenances of Betula alnoides Buch.–Ham. ex D. Don at four sites was used to model the H-D relationship. The dummy variable nonliner mixed-effect equations were applied to evaluate the effects of sites and provenances on variations of the H-D relationship and to select superior provenances of B. alnoides. Weibull equation was selected as the base model for the H-D relationship. The sites affected asymptotes of the H-D curves, and the provenance effect on asymptotes of the H-D curves varied across sites. Taking above-average DBH and lower asymptote of the H-D curves as indicators, five excellent provenances were screened out at each site with a rate of 20%. Their selection gains of individual volume ranged from 1.99% to 29.81%, and their asymptote parameter (kj) and H-D ratio were 7.17%–486.05% and 3.07–4.72% lower than the relevant total means at four sites, respectively. Genetic selection based on the H-D relationship could promote selection efficiency of excellent germplasms and was beneficial for the large-sized timber production of B. alnoides.

Abstract Aim To investigate the effectiveness of de-escalation of ticagrelor (from ticagrelor 90 mg to clopidogrel 75 mg or ticagrelor 60 mg) on the prognosis of patients with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) after 3 months of oral dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT). Methods From March 2017 to August 2021, 1056 patients with STEMI in a single centre, through retrospective investigation and analysis, were divided into intensive (ticagrelor 90 mg), standard (clopidogrel 75 mg after PCI) and de-escalation groups (clopidogrel 75 mg or ticagrelor 60 mg after 3 months of treatment with 90 mg ticagrelor) based on the type and dose of P2Y12 inhibitor 3 months after PCI, and the patients had a ≥ 12-month history of oral DAPT. The primary end point was major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) during the 12-month follow-up period, including composite end points of cardiac death, myocardial infarction, ischaemia-driven revascularization and stroke. The major safety endpoint was bleeding events. Results The results showed that during the follow-up period, there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of MACCEs between the intensive and de-escalation groups (P > 0.05). The incidence of MACCEs in the standard treatment group was higher than that in the intensive treatment group (P = 0.014), but the incidence of bleeding events in the de-escalation group was significantly lower than that in the standard group (9.3% vs. 18.4%, χ²=7.191, P = 0.027). The Cox regression analysis showed that increases in haemoglobin (HGB) (HR = 0.986) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) (HR = 0.983) could reduce the incidence of MACCEs, while old myocardial infarction (OMI) (P = 0.023) and hypertension (P = 0.013) were independent predictors of MACCEs. Conclusion For STEMI patients undergoing PCI, the de-escalation scheme of ticagrelor to clopidogrel 75 mg or ticagrelor 60 mg at 3 months after PCI was related to the reduction of bleeding events, especially minor bleeding events, without an increase in ischaemic events.

The use of artificial substrates and biofloc technology can favor fish culture and improve water quality. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether artificial substrates and carbon source additions modify the microbial activity of water bodies. The diversity and structure of microflora in the water after adding artificial substrates and carbon sources to the ponds were analyzed using high-throughput sequencing based on the V3-V4 region of 16S rRNA genes. The results showed that there was no difference in the richness and diversity of intestinal microflora between the control and experimental groups. Principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) and nonmetric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) showed that artificial substrate and carbon source addition changed the structure of the microflora. The results of a linear discriminant analysis (LDA) effect size (LefSe) indicated 11 biomarkers in the EGˍst group. Spearman correlation heatmap analysis showed that environmental factors affected the bacterial communities, and the results of a redundancy analysis indicated that chemical oxygen demand was a critical factor in controlling the bacterial communities in the water. These results provide an understanding of the effect of artificial substrate and carbon source addition on bacterial diversity and community composition in water.

Different from conventional gas reservoirs, the permeability of coalbeds is affected by stress sensitivity and matrix shrinkage during production. These two conditions lead to lower permeability in the reservoir and affect the production efficiency of the gas well. In addition, coalbed methane wells have single-phase water flow in the initial stage of production. When the reservoir pressure is reduced to its critical desorption pressure, the adsorbed gas in the reservoir desorbs into the pore space and participates in the flow. The flow state in the reservoir changes from single-phase to two phase, and the permeability of the reservoir decreases. The occurrence of these three damage mechanisms is related to the flow rate of fluid in the reservoir. At present, there is a lack of research on the optimization of drainage and production systems considering the damage mechanism of coal reservoirs. This study comprehensively considers how to optimize the production rate of coal reservoirs under the influence of stress sensitivity, matrix shrinkage and two phase flow in the production process to achieve the purpose of production with the least damage to the reservoir.

Saline–alkaline aquaculture has become an important breakthrough in expanding the space available for aquaculture in China. However, the biochemical composition and quality of Eriocheir sinensis reared in carbonate alkalinity water are still unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the edible yield, coloration, and nutritional and flavor quality of Eriocheir sinensis. A significantly lower gonadosomatic index (GSI), meat yield (MY), and total edible yield (TEY) were detected in intensive pond (IP) samples than those in semi-intensive reed wetland (SIWR) (p < 0.05). Six color parameters in the hepatopancreas (p < 0.05) differed between IP and SIRW. The contents of crude protein and fat in the female hepatopancreas of IP were significantly higher than those in SIRW (p < 0.05). The concentrations of total monounsaturated fatty acids (∑MUFA), total essential fatty acids (∑EFA), and hypocholesterolaemic/hypercholesterolaemic ratio (h/H) in the female edible tissues checked were higher in IP than those in SIRW, with significant differences including ∑MUFA in the hepatopancreas and ovary, ∑EFA in the muscle, and h/H in the ovary (p < 0.05). Higher total free amino acid (∑FAA) contents of muscle were detected in SIRW than that in IP samples. Significantly higher K, Ca, Mg, Fe, and Zn contents in the ovary were detected in SIRW samples compared to IP (p < 0.05). Overall, Eriocheir sinensis reared in carbonate-alkalinity water is an important source of nutrients.

Ceramic matrix composites have the advantages of low density, high specific strength, high specific die, high-temperature resistance, wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, etc., which are widely used in aerospace, energy, transportation, and other fields. CMCs have become an important choice for engine components and other high-temperature component manufacturing. However, ceramic matrix composite is a kind of multi-phase structure, anisotropy, high hardness material, due to the brittleness of the ceramic matrix, the weak bonding force between fiber and matrix, and the anisotropy of composite material. Burr, delamination, tearing, chips, and other surface damage tend to generate in the machining, resulting in surface quality and strength decline. This paper reviewed the latest abrasive machining technology for SiC ceramic composites. The characteristics and research directions of the main abrasive machining technology, including grinding, laser-assisted grinding, ultrasonic-assisted grinding, and abrasive waterjet machining, are introduced first. Then, the commonly used numerical simulation research for modeling and simulating the machining of ceramic matrix composites is briefly summarized. Acute coronary syndrome (ACS), diagnosed by optical coherence tomography (OCT), is caused primarily by plaque rupture, plaque erosion, and calcified nodules. Plaque erosion is more common in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction than ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. This study reports the details of a case of ACS caused by massive thrombus formation due to plaque erosion. The factors associated with plaque erosion and thrombosis could not be confirmed on the basis of clinical examination findings and the physicians’ experience; therefore, the initial diagnosis of an ischemic event was replaced by a diagnosis of rapid plaque progression, as microscopically confirmed by OCT. Therefore, OCT examination must be performed for blurred or “rapidly progressing” lesions identified through angiography.

We reported a case of a 60-year-old male with fever, cough, expectoration, and chest distress after right lung transplanted. Blood examination showed elevated C-reaction protein (CRP), white blood cell (WBC), and ammonia. Computed tomography (CT) revealed patchy high-density shadows and few pleural effusions in the transplanted lung. Bronchoscopy illustrated anastomotic fistula, and pseudomembrane and mucus plugs around the right main bronchial anastomosis. Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, Ureaplasma urealyticum, and Aspergillus flavus was successively detected by metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS). Targeted anti-microbial agents were administered and patient was successfully discharged. Unfortunately, a year later, patient died of respiratory failure due to recurrent pulmonary infections.

Numerous antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and virulence factors (VFs) found in animal manure pose significant risks to human health. However, the effects of graphene sodium selenite (GSSe), a novel chemical nano-Selenium, and biological nano-Selenium (BNSSe), a new bioaugmentation nano-Se, on bacterial Se metabolism, chemotaxis, ARGs, and VFs in animal manure remain unknown. In this study, we investigated the effects of GSSe and BNSSe on ARGs and VFs expression in broiler manure using high-throughput sequencing. Results showed that BNSSe reduced Se pressure during anaerobic fermentation by inhibiting bacterial selenocompound metabolism pathways, thereby lowering manure Selenium pollution. Additionally, the expression levels of ARGs and VFs were lower in the BNSSe group compared to the Sodium Selenite and GSSe groups, as BNSSe inhibited bacterial chemotaxis pathways. Co-occurrence network analysis identified ARGs and VFs within the following phyla Bacteroidetes (genera Butyricimonas, Odoribacter, Paraprevotella, and Rikenella), Firmicutes (genera Lactobacillus, Candidatus_Borkfalkia, Merdimonas, Oscillibacter, Intestinimonas, and Megamonas), and Proteobacteria (genera Desulfovibrio). The expression and abundance of ARGs and VFs genes were found to be associated with ARGs-VFs coexistence. Moreover, BNSSe disruption of bacterial selenocompound metabolism and chemotaxis pathways resulted in less frequent transfer of ARGs and VFs. These findings indicate that BNSSe can reduce ARGs and VFs expression in animal manure by suppressing bacterial selenocompound metabolism and chemotaxis pathways.

BackgroundThis study aimed to systematically evaluate the effects of different types and doses of pretreatment with P2Y12 inhibitors in patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).MethodsElectronic databases were searched for studies comparing pretreatment with different types and doses of P2Y12 inhibitors or comparison between P2Y12 inhibitor pretreatment and nonpretreatment. Electronic databases included the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science. Literature was obtained from the establishment of each database until June 2022. The patients included in the study had pretreatment with P2Y12 inhibitors with long-term oral or loading doses, or conventional aspirin treatment (non-pretreatment). The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) during follow-up within 30 days after PCI, which included determining the composite endpoints of cardiac death, myocardial infarction, ischemia-driven revascularization, and stroke. The safety endpoint was a major bleeding event.ResultsA total of 119,014 patients from 21 studies were enrolled, including 13 RCTs and eight observational studies. A total of six types of interventions were included—nonpretreatment (placebo), clopidogrel pretreatment, ticagrelor pretreatment, prasugrel pretreatment, double loading pretreatment (double loading dose of clopidogrel, ticagrelor, prasugrel) and P2Y12 inhibitors pretreatment (the included studies did not distinguish the types of P2Y12 inhibitors, including clopidogrel, ticagrelor, and prasugrel). The network meta-analysis results showed that compared to patients without pretreatment, patients receiving clopidogrel pretreatment (RR = 0.78, 95% CI:0.66, 0.91, P 0.05).ConclusionsIn patients with NSTE-ACS, pretreatment with P2Y12 inhibitors before percutaneous intervention reduced the incidence of recurrent ischemic events without increasing the risk of major bleeding after PCI compared with nonpretreatment. Clopidogrel or double loading dose P2Y12 inhibitors can be considered for the selection of pretreatment drugs.

IntroductionCurrently, deep-learning-based prediction of Significant Wave Height (SWH) is mostly performed for a single location in the ocean or simply relies on a single factor (SF). Such approaches have the disadvantage of lacking spatial correlations or dynamic complexity, leading to an inevitable growth of the prediction error with time.MethodsHere, attempting a solution, we develop a Multi-Factor (MF) data-driven 2D SWH prediction model for the Bohai, Yellow, and East China Seas (BYECS). Our model is developed based on a multi-channel PredRNN algorithm that is an improved deep-learning calculation of the ConvLSTM.ResultsIn our model, the MF of historical SWH, 10 m surface winds, ocean surface currents, bathymetries, and open boundaries are used to predict 2D SWH in the next 1-72h. Our modeled SWHs show the correlation coefficients as 0.98, 0.90, and 0.87 for the next 6h, 24h, and 72h, respectively.DiscussionAccording to the ablation experiments, winds are the dominant factor in the MF model and the memory-decoupling module is the key improvement of the PredRNN compared to the ConvLSTM. Furthermore, when the historical SWH is excluded from the input, the correlation coefficients remain around 0.95 in the 1-72h prediction due to the elimination of the error accumulation. It was worse than the MF-PredRNN with the historical SWH before 10h but better than it after 10h. Overall, for the prediction of SWH in the BYECS, our MF-PredRNN-based 2D SWH prediction model significantly improves the accuracy and extends the effective prediction time length.

Nowadays short texts can be widely found in various social data in relation to the 5G-enabled Internet of Things (IoT). Short text classification is a challenging task due to its sparsity and the lack of context. Previous studies mainly tackle these problems by enhancing the semantic information or the statistical information individually. However, the improvement achieved by a single type of information is limited, while fusing various information may help to improve the classification accuracy more effectively. To fuse various information for short text classification, this article proposes a feature fusion method that integrates the statistical feature and the comprehensive semantic feature together by using the weighting mechanism and deep learning models. In the proposed method, we apply Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) to generate word vectors on the sentence level automatically, and then obtain the statistical feature, the local semantic feature and the overall semantic feature using Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) weighting approach, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Bidirectional Gate Recurrent Unit (BiGRU). Then, the fusion feature is accordingly obtained for classification. Experiments are conducted on five popular short text classification datasets and a 5G-enabled IoT social dataset and the results show that our proposed method effectively improves the classification performance.

Fabry–Perot (F–P) nanocavity-type electrochromic devices with multicolor tunability have attracted significant interest in the past two years for their potential uses in a wide variety of applications, such as electronic display, military camouflage, and dynamic decoration. However, challenges such as insufficient brightness, lengthy switching times, and poor cycling stability have yet to be overcome. Herein, we demonstrate electrochromic electrodes based on ITO/Cu as both the current collector and the reflective layer, with WO3 as the electrochromic material, forming a unique three-layered structure. The constituted WO3/ITO/Cu films present a high brightness value of about 84% before coloration, and a decent brightness value of 48% after coloration at −0.8 ​V. Moreover, a fast switching time between different coloration states (tc ​= ​2.2 ​s; tb ​= ​1 ​s) is recorded, attributed to the extremely low sheet resistivity of the ITO/Cu current collector. The films also reveal excellent electrochemical cycling stability across 2000 cycles.

Abstract Background Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a highly malignant tumor which threatens human’s health. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in many cancers, including PC, but their mechanisms in PC have not yet been entirely clarified. We focused on revealing the potential function of lncRNA SOX21-AS1 in PC. Methods Functional assays assessed SOX21-AS1 function on PC progression. Bioinformatics analysis, along with mechanism assays were taken to unmask the regulatory mechanism SOX21-AS1 may exert in PC cells. Results SOX21-AS1 possessed a high expression level in PC cells. SOX21-AS1 absence suppressed PC cell proliferation, migration, stemness and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) while elevated cell apoptosis. SOX21-AS1 positively regulated its nearby gene SRY-box transcription factor 21 (SOX21) at post-transcriptional level. Through mechanism assays, we uncovered that SOX21-AS1 sponged SOX21-AS1 to elevate SOX21 mRNA and recruited ubiquitin-specific peptidase 10 (USP10) to deubiquitinate and stabilize SOX21 protein. Moreover, signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6) could transcriptionally activate SOX21-AS1 and SOX21 expression. Conclusions SOX21-AS1 aggravated the malignant development of PC, which might provide the utility value for PC treatment.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of posterior surgery in the treatment of craniovertebral junction (CVJ) deformities with torticollis and methods for preventing and treating complications in order to obtain a reasonable treatment strategy. Methods From January 2007 to December 2017, 78 patients who suffered from CVJ deformities with torticollis treated by posterior surgery were analyzed. The surgical techniques were all posterior correction and fusion to restore the anatomical alignment of the craniovertebral junction. The visual analog score (VAS) and Short Form‐36 (SF‐36) health survey questionnaire were utilized to evaluate preoperative and postoperative neck pain, and changes in the torticollis angle and atlas‐dens interval (ADI) were evaluated through anteroposterior X‐ray and computed tomography. Intra‐ and postoperative complications were all recorded. One‐way ANOVA, LSD‐t test, and χ2 test were performed to evaluate the difference between the preoperative and postoperative data. Results The mean follow‐up time was 37.4 ± 15.7 months, the average operation time was 115.6 ± 12.8 min, and the average blood loss was 170.8 ± 26.3 mL. According to the deformity site, the range of posterior correction and fusion was as follows: 38 cases of C1–C2, 33 cases of C0–C2, and seven cases of C0–C3. The preoperative SF‐36, VAS, torticollis angle, and ADI were 42.6 ± 8.8, 4.8 ± 1.1, 37.2 ± 11.2°, and 4.9 ± 2.3 mm, respectively. The difference was significant at 3 months post operation (p 0.05). Conclusion It can objectively achieve favorable correction and satisfactory clinical effects under posterior correction and fixation for CVJ deformities with torticollis. Intra‐ and postoperative complications can be settled by proper management.

Zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors (ZHSs), which combine the superiority of batteries and supercapacitors, will become a new development direction in the field of energy storage. The development of ZHSs with high capacity and high stability can be further promoted by heteroatom doping or structural modification of cathode materials. Herein, N,O,P co-doped porous carbon materials were synthesized by a facile method using coal tar pitch as precursor, aluminum phosphate as template, and sodium hydroxide as activator. Due to the high specific surface area and abundant micropores, the heteroatom-doped porous carbon materials were employed as cathode for aqueous ZHSs to study the electrochemical performance. Benefitted from the rich micropores and heteroatom doping, the porous carbon electrodes exhibit an outstanding electrochemical performance and deliver a large specific capacitance of 113.3 mA h g−1 at 0.1 A g−1. In addition, the porous carbon electrode shows a high energy density of 64.9 Wh kg−1 and a high power density of 1.23 kW kg−1, which outperforms most aqueous ZHS energy storage systems previously reported. Interestingly, after 5000 cycles at 1 A g−1, the specific capacity is about 36% higher than the original capacity and the coulomb efficiency still remains nearly 100%. The article may provide a new insight into exploring cathode materials for high-performance aqueous rechargeable zinc-ion energy storage devices.

Abstract Objective To investigate the potential of employing sublingual microcirculation as an early noninvasive screening technique for diabetic nephropathy (DN). Research design and methods We recruited 89 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and 41 healthy subjects in this cross-sectional observational study. All participants underwent fluorescein fundus angiography, vibration perception testing, 10 g (Semmes–Weinstein) monofilament examination, nerve conduction velocity, and 24-h urine microalbumin determination. HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, blood lipid, and estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR) were measured. BackgroundGlucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have been widely used in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity in adults, but scientific research about the indication in children and adolescents is scarce. The current study aims to explore the prescriptions of GLP-1RAs in children and adolescents in China and to evaluate its rationality.MethodsGLP-1RA prescriptions of children and adolescents were retrospectively obtained from the Hospital Prescription Analysis Cooperative Project. The study extracted information on patient’s demographic characteristics, monotherapy and combination therapy of GLP-1RAs, and trends in GLP-1RA usage from 2016 to 2021. The rationality of GLP-1RA prescriptions was comprehensively assessed based on the indications approved by China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), European Medicines Agency (EMA), Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), and published randomized controlled trials (RCTs).ResultsA total of 234 prescriptions from 46 hospitals were included, with a median age of 17 years old. The majority of patients were diagnosed with overweight/obesity or prediabetes/diabetes, accounting for 43.59% and 46.15%, respectively. There were 88 patients on GLP-1RA monotherapy. GLP-1RAs plus metformin was the most common combination therapy (38.89%). 12.39% of patients were found a co-administration with orlistat. The share of overweight/obesity prescriptions increased from 27% in 2016 to 54% in 2021, whereas prediabetes/diabetes prescriptions declined from 55% to 42%. The prescriptions were divided into appropriate and questionable groups according to the diagnosis, and the potentially questionable prescription was related to age (p = 0.017), department visited (p = 0.002), and any hospitalization (p < 0.001).ConclusionsThis study described the prescribing of GLP-1RAs in children and adolescents. Our findings indicated that the utilization of GLP-1RAs has increased from 2016 to 2021. There was a strong basis for administering GLP-1RAs in overweight/obesity and prediabetes/diabetes, whereas the evidence was insufficient in other conditions. It is crucial to demand robust and sustained efforts to enhance the awareness of the safety of utilization of GLP-1RAs in children and adolescents.
