Abstract High-temperature superconductivity was discovered in the pressurized nickelate La3Ni2O7 which has a unique bilayer structure and mixed valence state of nickel. The properties at ambient pressure contain crucial information of the fundamental interactions and bosons mediating superconducting pairing. Here, using X-ray absorption spectroscopy and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering, we identified that Ni 3 $${d}_{{x}^{2}-{y}^{2}}$$ d x 2 − y 2 , Ni 3 $${d}_{{z}^{2}}$$ d z 2 , and ligand oxygen 2p orbitals dominate the low-energy physics with a small charge-transfer energy. Well-defined optical-like magnetic excitations soften into quasi-static spin-density-wave ordering, evidencing the strong electronic correlation and rich magnetic properties. Based on an effective Heisenberg spin model, we extract a much stronger inter-layer effective magnetic superexchange than the intra-layer ones and propose two viable magnetic structures. Our findings emphasize that the Ni 3 $${d}_{{z}^{2}}$$ d z 2 orbital bonding within the bilayer induces novel electronic and magnetic excitations, setting the stage for further exploration of La3Ni2O7 superconductor.

Abstract Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury, often arising from interventional therapy for acute myocardial infarction, leads to irreversible myocardial cell death. While previous studies indicate that nucleostemin (NS) is induced by myocardial I/R injury and mitigates myocardial cell apoptosis, the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Here, our study reveals that NS upregulation is critical for preventing cardiomyocyte death following myocardial I/R injury. Elevated NS protein levels were observed in myocardial I/R injury mouse and rat models, as well as Hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) cardiac cell lines (H9C2 cells). We identified binding sites for c-Jun and HIF-1α in the NS promoter region. Inhibition of JNK and HIF-1α led to a significant decrease in NS transcription and protein expression. Furthermore, inhibition of autophagy and NS expression promoted myocardial cell apoptosis in H/R. Notably, the cell model showed reduced LC3I transformation to LC3II, downregulated Beclin1, upregulated p62, and altered expression of autophagy-related proteins upon NS interference in H/R cells. These findings suggest that NS expression, driven by c-Jun and HIF-1α pathways, facilitates autophagy, providing protection against both myocardial I/R injury and H/R-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis.

Abstract Sweet potato starch is in high demand globally for food and industry. However, starch content is negatively correlated with fresh yield. It is urgent to uncover the genetic basis and molecular mechanisms underlying the starch yield of sweet potato. Here we systematically explore source-sink synergy-mediated sweet potato starch yield formation: the production, loading, and transport of photosynthates in leaves, as well as their unloading and allocation in storage roots, lead to starch content divergence between sweet potato varieties. Moreover, we find that six haplotypes of IbPMA1 encoding a plasma membrane H+-ATPase are significantly linked with starch accumulation. Overexpression of IbPMA1 in sweet potato results in significantly increased starch and sucrose contents, while its knockdown exhibits an opposing effect. Furthermore, a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor IbbHLH49 directly targets IbPMA1 and activates its transcription. Overexpression of IbbHLH49 notably improves source-sink synergy-mediated fresh yield and starch accumulation in sweet potato. Both IbbHLH49 and IbPMA1 substantially influence sugar transport and starch biosynthesis in source and sink tissues. These findings expand our understanding of starch yield formation and provide strategies and candidate genes for high starch breeding in root and tuber crops.

Abstract The kink structure in band dispersion usually refers to a certain electron-boson interaction, which is crucial in understanding the pairing in unconventional superconductors. Here we report the evidence of the observation of a kink structure in Fe-based superconductor CsCa2Fe4As4F2 using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The kink shows an orbital selective and momentum dependent behavior, which is located at 15 meV below Fermi level along the $$\Gamma -{{\rm{{M}}}}$$ Γ − M direction at the band with d xz orbital character and vanishes when approaching the $$\Gamma -{{\rm{{X}}}}$$ Γ − X direction, correlated with a slight decrease of the superconducting gap. Most importantly, this kink structure disappears when the superconducting gap closes, indicating that the corresponding bosonic mode (~ $$9\pm 1$$ 9 ± 1 meV) is closely related to superconductivity. However, the origin of this mode remains unidentified, since it cannot be related to phonons or the spin resonance mode (~15 meV) observed by inelastic neutron scattering. The behavior of this mode is rather unique and challenges our present understanding of the superconducting paring mechanism of the bilayer FeAs-based superconductors.

Abstract Recently, unconventional antiferromagnets that enable the spin splitting (SS) of electronic states have been theoretically proposed and experimentally realized, where the magnetic sublattices containing moments pointing at different directions are connected by a novel set of symmetries. Such SS is substantial, k‐dependent, and independent of the spin–orbit coupling (SOC) strength, making these magnets promising materials for antiferromagnetic spintronics. Here, combined with angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, a systematic study on CrSb, a metallic spin‐split antiferromagnet candidate with Néel temperature TN = 703 K, is conducted. The data reveal the electronic structure of CrSb along both out‐of‐plane and in‐plane momentum directions, rendering an anisotropic k‐dependent SS that agrees well with the calculational results. The magnitude of such SS reaches up to at least 0.8 eV at non‐high‐symmetry momentum points, which is significantly higher than the largest known SOC‐induced SS. This compound expands the choice of materials in the field of antiferromagnetic spintronics and is likely to stimulate subsequent investigations of high‐efficiency spintronic devices that are functional at room temperature.

Achieving carbon neutrality in wastewater treatment plants relies heavily on mainstream anaerobic ammonia oxidation. However, the stability of this process is often compromised, largely due to the significant influence of microbial morphology. This study analyzed 208 microbial samples using bioinformatics and machine learning (ML) across four different morphologies: Suspended Sludge (SS), Biofilm, Granular Sludge (GS) and the Integrated Fixed-film Activated Sludge process (IFAS). The results revealed IFAS’s notably complex and stable community structure, along with the identification of endemic genera and common genera among the four microbial morphologies. Through co-occurrence network analysis, the interaction between microorganisms of various genera was displayed. Utilizing the Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) model, a ML modeling framework based on microbiome data was developed. The ML-based feature importance analysis identified LD-RB-34 as a key organism in SS and BSV26 was an important bacterium in IFAS. Additionally, functional bacteria KF-JG30-C25 occupied a higher proportion in GS, and Unclassified Brocadiaceae occupied a higher proportion in Biofilm. Furthermore, dissolved oxygen, temperature and pH were identified as the primary factors determining microbial communities and influencing anammox activity. Overall, this study deepens our understanding of bacterial communities to enhance the mainstream anammox nitrogen removal.

The interactions between lignin oligomers and solvents determine the behaviors of lignin oligomers self-assembling into uniform lignin nanoparticles (LNPs). Herein, several alcohol solvents, which readily interact with the lignin oligomers, were adopted to study their effects during solvent shifting process for LNPs’ production. The lignin oligomers with widely distributed molecular weight and abundant guaiacyl units were extracted from wood waste (mainly consists of pine wood), exerting outstanding self-assembly capability. Uniform and spherical LNPs were generated in H2O-n-propanol cosolvent, whereas irregular LNPs were obtained in H2O-methanol cosolvent. The unsatisfactory self-assembly performance of the lignin oligomers in H2O-methanol cosolvent could be attributed to two aspects. On one hand, for the initial dissolution state, the distinguishing Hansen solubility parameter and polarity between methanol solvent and lignin oligomers resulted in the poor dispersion of the lignin oligomers. On the other hand, strong hydrogen bonds between methanol solvent and lignin oligomers during solvent shifting process, hindered the interactions among the lignin oligomers for self-assembly.

Abstract Quantum confinement is a restriction on the motion of electrons in a material to specific region, resulting in discrete energy levels rather than continuous energy bands. In certain materials, quantum confinement could dramatically reshape the electronic structure and properties of the surface with respect to the bulk. Here, in the recently discovered kagome superconductors CsV3Sb5, we unveil the dominant role of quantum confinement in determining their surface electronic structure. Combining angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurement and density-functional theory simulation, we report the observations of two-dimensional quantum well states due to the confinement of bulk electron pocket and Dirac cone to the nearly isolated surface layer. The theoretical calculations on the slab model also suggest that the ARPES observed spectra are almost entirely contributed by the top two layers. Our results not only explain the disagreement of band structures between the recent experiments and calculations, but also suggest an equally important role played by quantum confinement, together with strong correlation and band topology, in shaping the electronic properties of this material.

Despite lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) being extensively employed as assistant agents to improve the UV-blocking performance of sunscreens, there is a lack of information addressing how and to what extent the chemical and structural features of these particles relate to the improvements observed in the Sun Protection Factors (SPF) of the sunscreens. In this study, lignin oligomers were prepared by a solvothermal extraction process of five typical biomasses in a water–acetone co-solvent without noticeable degradation of the cellulose fraction. Afterward, LNPs were produced from the self-assembly of these lignin oligomers via the solvent-shifting methodology. When incorporated into the sunscreen, these had different morphologies, and exerted different UV-blocking capacities. The effects of the chemical structure and size distribution of the LNPs were systematically studied and compared to those of the original lignin oligomers. LNPs exhibited better UV-blocking ability than soluble lignin oligomers due to the more exposed chromophore on the surface. Besides, compact LNPs with conjugating CO and β-O-4 linkages, as well as the presence of the syringyl unit rich in the methoxyl group in the structures, were beneficial in boosting the UV resistance of the sunscreens. Even though smaller LNPs with higher surface area favored the UV shielding performance, LNPs with widely distributed sizes could further help decrease the UV transmittance. These findings provide an excellent basis for using lignin-derived materials as sunscreen additives and pave the way to developing new environmentally friendly materials for the cosmetic industry.

The C. oleifera oil processing industry generates large amounts of solid wastes, including C. oleifera shell (COS) and C. oleifera cake (COC). Distinct from generally acknowledged lignocellulosic biomass (corn stover, bamboo, birch, etc.), Camellia wastes contain diverse bioactive substances in addition to the abundant lignocellulosic components, and thus, the biorefinery utilization of C. oleifera processing byproducts involves complicated processing technologies. This review first summarizes various technologies for extracting and converting the main components in C. oleifera oil processing byproducts into value-added chemicals and biobased materials, as well as their potential applications. Microwave, ultrasound, and Soxhlet extractions are compared for the extraction of functional bioactive components (tannin, flavonoid, saponin, etc.), while solvothermal conversion and pyrolysis are discussed for the conversion of lignocellulosic components into value-added chemicals. The application areas of these chemicals according to their properties are introduced in detail, including utilizing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of the bioactive substances for the specific application, as well as drop-in chemicals for the substitution of unrenewable fossil fuel-derived products. In addition to chemical production, biochar fabricated from COS and its applications in the fields of adsorption, supercapacitor, soil remediation and wood composites are comprehensively reviewed and discussed. Finally, based on the compositions and structural characteristics of C. oleifera byproducts, the development of full-component valorization strategies and the expansion of the application fields are proposed.

Abstract A representative class of kagome materials, AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, Cs), hosts several unconventional phases such as superconductivity, $${{\mathbb{Z}}}_{2}$$ Z 2 non-trivial topological states, and electronic nematic states. These can often coexist with intertwined charge-density wave states. Recently, the discovery of the isostructural titanium-based single-crystals, ATi3Bi5 (A = K, Rb, Cs), which exhibit similar multiple exotic states but without the concomitant charge-density wave, has opened an opportunity to disentangle these complex states in kagome lattices. Here, we combine high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and first-principles calculations to investigate the low-lying electronic structure of RbTi3Bi5. We demonstrate the coexistence of flat bands and several non-trivial states, including type-II Dirac nodal lines and $${{\mathbb{Z}}}_{2}$$ Z 2 non-trivial topological surface states. Our findings also provide evidence for rotational symmetry breaking in RbTi3Bi5, suggesting a directionality to the electronic structure and the possible emergence of pure electronic nematicity in this family of kagome compounds.

Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) is a widely grown food crop especially in developing countries. Increasing storage-root yield and dry-matter content has been the main breeding objective of the crop, and DNA marker-assisted breeding is needed for this purpose. In this study, using a mapping population of 500 F1 individuals from a cross between Xushu 18 (female) and Xu 781 (male), we constructed a high-density genetic linkage map of sweetpotato using 601 simple-sequence repeat (SSR) primer pairs. The Xushu 18 map contained 90 linkage groups with 5547 SSR markers and spanned 18,263.5 cM, and the Xu 781 map contained 90 linkage groups with 4599 SSR markers and spanned 18,043.7 cM, representing the highest genome coverage yet reported for sweetpotato. We identified 33 QTL for storage-root yield and 16 QTL for dry-matter content, explaining respectively 6.5%–47.5% and 3.2%–18.9% of variation. These results provide a foundation for fine-mapping and cloning of QTL and for marker-assisted breeding in sweetpotato.

The chemical transformation of natural oils provides alternatives to limited fossil fuels and produces compounds with added value for the chemical industries. The selective deoxygenation of natural oils to diesel-ranged hydrocarbons, bio-jet fuels, or fatty alcohols with controllable selectivity is especially attractive in natural oil feedstock biorefineries. This review presents recent progress in catalytic deoxygenation of natural oils or related model compounds (e.g., fatty acids) to renewable liquid fuels (green diesel and bio-jet fuels) and valuable fatty alcohols (unsaturated and saturated fatty alcohols). Besides, it discusses and compares the existing and potential strategies to control the product selectivity over heterogeneous catalysts. Most research conducted and reviewed has only addressed the production of one category; therefore, a new integrative vision exploring how to direct the process toward fuel and/or chemicals is urgently needed. Thus, work conducted to date addressing the development of new catalysts and studying the influence of the reaction parameters (e.g., temperature, time and hydrogen pressure) is summarized and critically discussed from a green and sustainable perspective using efficiency indicators (e.g., yields, selectivity, turnover frequencies and catalysts lifetime). Special attention has been given to the chemical transformations occurring to identify key descriptors to tune the selectivity toward target products by manipulating the reaction conditions and the structures of the catalysts. Finally, the challenges and future research goals to develop novel and holistic natural oil biorefineries are proposed. As a result, this critical review provides the readership with appropriate information to selectively control the transformation of natural oils into either biofuels and/or value-added chemicals. This new flexible vision can help pave the wave to suit the present and future market needs.

BackgroundPsychological problems often occur in college students, with the most common ones being depression and anxiety symptoms. Exploring the risk factors that influence depression and anxiety symptoms in college students is essential to promote their physical and mental health.ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the independent and interaction effects of problematic mobile phone use (PMPU) and the number of close friends (NCFs) on depression and anxiety symptoms and the comorbidity of these symptoms among college students.MethodsA cross-sectional survey was conducted in Huainan, Anhui Province, and Suzhou, Jiangsu Province in China from October to December 2022. Data from 7,617 college students were collected. The Patient Health Questionnaire and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 were used to evaluate depression and anxiety symptoms. The PMPU data were collected by the Mobile Phone Addiction Type Scale. Abstract The century-long development of surface sciences has witnessed the discoveries of a variety of quantum states. In the recently proposed “obstructed atomic insulators”, symmetric charges are pinned at virtual sites where no real atoms reside. The cleavage through these sites could lead to a set of obstructed surface states with partial electronic occupation. Here, utilizing scanning tunneling microscopy, angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and first-principles calculations, we observe spectroscopic signature of obstructed surface states in SrIn2P2. We find that a pair of surface states that are originated from the pristine obstructed surface states split in energy by a unique surface reconstruction. The upper branch is marked with a striking differential conductance peak followed by negative differential conductance, signaling its localized nature, while the lower branch is found to be highly dispersive. This pair of surface states is in consistency with our calculational results. Our finding not only demonstrates a surface quantum state induced by a new type of bulk-boundary correspondence, but also provides a platform for exploring efficient catalysts and related surface engineering.

With the rapid growth in the global population and the accelerating pace of urbanization, researching and developing novel strategies for biomass utilization is significant due to its potential for use in renewable energy, climate change mitigation, waste management, and sustainable agriculture. In this environmental context, this review discusses the recent advances in biomass conversion technologies for biochar production, including the first carbonization process and the subsequent activation methods of the biochar derived from lignocellulosic biomass (LBC). Parallel to this, this review deals with other essential parameters in biochar production, such as feedstock types, reaction environments, and operating conditions in the pyrolysis process, to determine the production and composition of LBC. Moreover, the wide-ranging applications of LBC in areas such as adsorption, catalysts, and energy storage are discussed, offering sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives while reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and mineral resources, thereby providing practical solutions to environmental and energy challenges. Overall, this review not only provides a comprehensive comparative analysis of different LBC preparation methods, but also facilitates a deeper understanding of the advantages and limitations of these methodologies when it comes to developing high-value materials for sustainable applications.

Signatures of an excitonic insulator have been reported in several two-dimensional materials. Here the authors report electronic properties of monolayer ZrTe2 from ARPES and STM measurements that are consistent with the preformed exciton gas phase, a precursor for the excitonic insulator.

In the search of alternative resources to make commodity chemicals and transportation fuels for a low carbon future, lignocellulosic biomass with over 180-billion-ton annual production rate has been identified as a promising feedstock. This review focuses on the state-of-the-art catalytic transformation of lignocellulosic biomass into value-added chemicals and fuels. Following a brief introduction on the structure, major resources and pretreatment methods of lignocellulosic biomass, the catalytic conversion of three main components, i.e., cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin, into various compounds are comprehensively discussed. Either in separate steps or in one-pot, cellulose and hemicellulose are hydrolyzed into sugars and upgraded into oxygen-containing chemicals such as 5-HMF, furfural, polyols, and organic acids, or even nitrogen-containing chemicals such as amino acids. On the other hand, lignin is first depolymerized into phenols, catechols, guaiacols, aldehydes and ketones, and then further transformed into hydrocarbon fuels, bioplastic precursors and bioactive compounds. The review then introduces the transformations of whole biomass via catalytic gasification, catalytic pyrolysis, as well as emerging strategies. Finally, opportunities, challenges and prospective of woody biomass valorization are highlighted.

Abstract Lorentz‐violating type‐II Dirac nodal line semimetals (DNLSs), hosting curves of band degeneracy formed by two dispersion branches with the same sign of slope, represent a novel state of matter. While being studied extensively in theory, convincing experimental evidence of type‐II DNLSs remain elusive. Recently, vanadium‐based kagome materials have emerged as a fertile ground to study the interplay between lattice symmetry and band topology. This work studies the low‐energy band structure of double‐kagome‐layered CsV8Sb12 and identifies it as a scarce type‐II DNLS protected by mirror symmetry. This work observes multiple DNLs consisting of type‐II Dirac cones close to or almost at the Fermi level via angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), which provides an electronic explanation for the nonsaturating magnetoresistance effect as observed. First‐principles theory analyses show that spin‐orbit coupling only opens a small gap, resulting in effectively gapless ARPES spectra, yet generating large spin Berry curvature. These type‐II DNLs, together with the interaction between a low‐energy van Hove singularity and quasi‐one‐dimensional band as observed in the same material, suggest CsV8Sb12 as an ideal platform for exploring novel transport properties.

Internal steam leakage in steam turbines from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side through clearances causes loss, resulting in reduced efficiency and potentially compromising the safe operation of the turbine. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of the flow characteristics of leakage through blade tip clearances is crucial to improve the efficiency of steam turbines. In this paper, the last stage blades of the low-pressure cylinder of a certain 600 MW ultra-supercritical steam turbine unit were studied. A wet steam flow model and a turbulence model were established, and the flow characteristics of the last stage under different inlet parameters, outlet parameters, and tip clearance sizes were analyzed. The results showed that an increase in the clearance size affects the inlet and outlet steam angles of the rotor blades, with significant changes occurring near the blade tip. The main flow velocity inside the rotor blade channel fluctuates violently starting from the 70% axial position. The high entropy region is located near the exit flow region of the rotor blade, with its range expanding as the clearance size increases. The entropy change is significant at 60% blade height and above, with more intense changes occurring in the blade tip area. The relative leakage amount and efficiency change uniformly with clearance variation. Generally, for every 0.1% increase in clearance height, the relative leakage amount increases by ∼0.31%–0.42%, and the stage efficiency decreases by 0.34%–0.44%. The results of this study can provide a theoretical basis and guidance for improving the flow efficiency of steam turbines.

The rapid development of new energy sources has brought a certain impact on the original power grid structure, accelerated the wear of unit equipment, and affected the stability, safety, and economy of thermal power unit operation, so it is proposed to add an energy storage system to solve the above problems. To analyze the secondary frequency regulation effect of thermal power units assisted by a flywheel energy storage system, a mathematical model of the control strategy on both sides of the boiler, steam turbine, and flywheel permanent magnet synchronous motor is proposed, and a two-regional power grid model is built through MATLAB/Simulink to simulate the frequency regulation effect of units with or without energy storage participation through step disturbance and continuous disturbance, which are 0.045 and 0.023 p.u. MW. Under step disturbance, the frequency fluctuation of the coupled energy storage system changed by 0.025 228 p.u. Hz, the time for the system to return to a steady state was shortened by 5.85 s, the maximum change of the frequency of the system in Region 2 was reduced by 0.025 579 p.u. Hz, and under continuous disturbance, the fluctuation of the output power of the steam turbine in Region 1 was reduced by 0.022 982 p.u. MW. In summary, under the same disturbance conditions in the outside world, the use of flywheel energy storage to assist the frequency regulation of thermal power units can effectively reduce the frequency fluctuation of the system, reduce the fluctuation of the output power of the steam turbine, reduce the loss of mechanical equipment, and extend the service life of the unit to a certain extent.

Kagome lattices composed of transition-metal ions have recently attracted great interest. Here, the authors report a new class of vanadium-based compounds with kagome bilayers which show lines of Dirac nodes in reciprocal space and superconductivity under pressure.

A multi-energy plant combines renewable energy generation equipment, a charging station and a charging station with storage. This paper discusses integrated power systems that make full use of existing substations and support the construction of data centers, energy storage, 5g base stations, photovoltaic power plants, wind farms, gas turbines, etc., to create an advanced integrated energy system that enables the integration and sharing of resources and increases energy efficiency. The simulation results confirm that the integrated power plant system plays an important role in increasing the share of renewable energy production. Self-generation and control can in principle achieve 100% solar electricity consumption, and energy storage devices play a key role in renewable energy consumption.

With the increasing installed capacity of new energy generation, the randomness and volatility of new energy generation has seriously affected the stable operation of the grid. And the traditional generation side dispatching method can no longer meet the demand of the grid to maintain stable operation, which greatly affects the consumption of new energy. In order to improve the rate of new energy consumption and economic efficiency, this paper proposed a regional active distribution network economic evaluation index that takes construction costs, operating costs, and new energy subsidies into account. What is more, the paper summarized the physical constraints of each equipment in the regional active distribution network. Combining the economic evaluation index and the physical constraints, the paper raised a regional active distribution network planning and scheduling model based on robust optimization. Finally, the regional active distribution network planning model based on robust optimization is validated in terms of the new energy consumption rate and the economic benefits by optimizing the examples of load-based regional active distribution network.

This paper reviews the state-of-the-art in offshore oil and energy system design, develops a prototype hybrid marine renewable energy system and discusses an artificial intelligence algorithm to optimize the structure. A control strategy for the coordination of hybrid energy in an interconnected gas grid is developed. Numerical example results show that the optimization of the coordinated control strategy can provide a better balance between economy and reliability.

Sucrose synthases (SUS; EC 2.4.1.13) encoded by a small multigene family are the central system of sucrose metabolism and have important implications for carbon allocation and energy conservation in nonphotosynthetic cells of plants. Though the SUS family genes (SUSs) have been identified in several plants, they have not been explored in sweet potato. In this research, nine, seven and seven SUSs were identified in the cultivated sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas, 2n = 6x = 90) as well as its two diploid wild relatives I. trifida (2n = 2x = 30) and I. triloba (2n = 2x = 30), respectively, and divided into three subgroups according to their phylogenetic relationships. Their protein physicochemical properties, chromosomal localization, phylogenetic relationship, gene structure, promoter cis-elements, protein interaction network and expression patterns were systematically analyzed. The results indicated that the SUS gene family underwent segmental and tandem duplications during its evolution. The SUSs were highly expressed in sink organs. The IbSUSs especially IbSUS2, IbSUS5 and IbSUS7 might play vital roles in storage root development and starch biosynthesis. The SUSs could also respond to drought and salt stress responses and take part in hormone crosstalk. This work provides new insights for further understanding the functions of SUSs and candidate genes for improving yield, starch content, and abiotic stress tolerance in sweet potatoes.

BackgroundAdverse childhood experiences (ACEs) tend to cluster together in daily life, and most studies focus on the level of depression at certain points, but the dynamic process of depression is often neglected. Thus, research is urgently needed to explore the relationship between ACEs pattern and trajectory of depressive symptom levels at multiple time points in order to provides early targeted interventions to those who are most at risk.ObjectiveWe aimed to explore patterns of ACEs, including types and timing, associated with depression trajectories in college students.MethodsA school-based health survey was used to collect data as part of a longitudinal study in two medical college in Anhui province, China. Questionnaires were issued to 3,662 participants aged 17–22 and recorded details of ACEs (types and timing) and depression. Latent class analysis (LCA) was used to identify “patterns” of ACEs type and timing. Depressive symptom trajectories employed latent class growth analysis (LCGA). Multiple logistic regressions were employed to evaluate the relationships between ACEs patterns and depressive symptom trajectories.ResultsWe identified five ACEs patterns: “High neglect/emotional abuse/community violence,” “High neglect/emotional abuse,” “High neglect/family dysfunction,” “High neglect,” “Low ACEs.” We traced three depression trajectories: “High depressive symptom” “Moderate depressive symptom,” “Low depressive symptom.” “High neglect/emotional abuse/community violence,” “High neglect/emotional abuse” and “High neglect/family dysfunction” demonstrated a high risk for “High depressive symptom” and “Moderate depressive symptom.” “High neglect” showed a high risk for “Moderate depressive symptom” but not for “High depressive symptom” (P < 0.05).ConclusionsThe findings address the need for a comprehensive consideration of exposure to childhood adversity associated with the risk of depression in young adults through identifying more problematic ACEs patterns amongst exposed children.

Abstract Fundamental understanding and control of the electronic structure evolution in rare‐earth nickelates is a fascinating and meaningful issue, as well as being helpful to understand the mechanism of recently discovered superconductivity. Here the dimensionality effect on the ground electronic state in high‐quality (NdNiO3) m/(SrTiO3)1 superlattices is systematically studied through transport and soft X‐ray absorption spectroscopy. The metal‐to‐insulator transition temperature decreases with the thickness of the NdNiO3 slab decreasing from bulk to 7 unit cells, then increases gradually as m further reduces to 1 unit cell. Spectral evidence demonstrates that the stabilization of insulating phase can be attributed to the increase of the charge‐transfer energy between O 2p and Ni 3d bands. The prominent multiplet feature on the Ni L3 edge develops with the decrease of NdNiO3 slab thickness, suggesting the strengthening of the charge disproportionate state under the dimensional confinement. This work provides convincing evidence that dimensionality is an effective knob to modulate the charge‐transfer energy and thus the collective ground state in nickelates.

IntroductionNon-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and suicide attempts (SA) are common in adolescents and are important risk factors for suicide deaths. They are related to various psychosocial, behavioral, and biological factors. We aimed to compare the differences on psychological behavior problem and family environment characteristics between NSSI and SA, and the role of gender.MethodsA multi-center population-based survey was conducted in 29 schools across 4 provinces in China. A total of 14,500 urban and rural adolescents in grades 7–12 completed a structured questionnaire to report their sociodemographic information, psychological and behavioral characteristics, childhood maltreatment, parent-child relationships, NSSI, and SA. Post-hoc tests, pairwise comparisons, and multinomial logistic regression analyses were conducted to explore the differences and similarities between subjects who had engaged in NSSI and SA.ResultsThe prevalence of NSSI and SA were 27.3 and 4.9%, respectively, and the co-occurrence of these two behaviors (NSSI + SA) was reported to 2.8%. The NSSI + SA group scored the highest on all study variables, followed by the SA-only group, the NSSI-only group, and the non-self-harm group (p < 0.001). Compared with the non-self-harm group, adolescents who reported either NSSI or SA scored significantly higher on all study variables (p< 0.0083). The comparison between other self-harm groups, this difference have varied in all research variables.ConclusionThe current study indicate that psychological, behavioral, and family relationships profiles of Chinese adolescents with SA and NSSI are similar, but the measured problematic characteristics were more severe in suicide attempters. In the future, it's necessary to pay more attention to adolescents with more serious psychological and behavioral problems to prevent and early intervene in their self-harm, and actively explore gender differences.

The load of the offshore oil platform is mostly pump unit, Asynchronous motor with cage rotor has simple structure, reliable operation, and inexpensive. But it has a huge shortcoming of its low efficiency. When the output power is constant, improving efficiency is to decrease loss of the motor. This paper discusses some methods of energy saving and low consumption of the pump unit to improve the efficiency. Direct drive pump can completely eliminate transmission loss, eliminate bearing of centrifugal pump impeller pump, reduce friction, and thus reduce mechanical loss. The rotor copper loss and stator copper loss will be reduced by using copper squirrel cage and multi-wound motor, so the efficiency of the motor will be improved. If all the pump unit of the offshore oil platform is turned into this low consumption motor, it will save a lot of energy and greatly improve the efficiency of the load. Today, motors are widely found in various devices and their analysis involves the coupling of multiple physical fields. One of the most serious problems for some large motors is the heating problem, which generates various losses during motor operation, and these losses are eventually converted into thermal energy and emitted in the form of heat. The operating temperature of the motor has a great influence on the insulating material of the motor. Afterwards, a method of thermal-electromagnetic coupling simulation of the motor is carried out with a pump unit in the offshore oil platform as an example, and the magnetic line distribution, magnetic field density distribution cloud diagram and water pump temperature distribution of the motor are obtained, which are the basis of the electromagnetic design of the water pump and the design of the heat dissipation system.

Because of the energy supply of the offshore oil platforms mainly relies on the supply of gas turbine, the development of renewable energy will become a rich energy supply for offshore oil platforms and a reliable way to improve the stability of the grid of the platforms. This paper developed the simulation model of offshore oil gas turbine platform power grid, simulated the hybrid power grid structure, the energy storage of frequency regulation, high wind power penetration rate, wind power and gas turbine power frequency stability and fault treatment. The method of increasing renewable energy penetration rate was proposed, and the hybrid energy coordinated control strategy of offshore oil platform was also carried out. Based on the weakly connected distributed offshore oil platform power grid project, this paper studied the influence of wind power and turbine power penetration rate on the power grid, in order to explore, determine and verify the limit of high wind power penetration rate under the condition of “large generation machine and small grid”. The simulation experiment of high wind power penetration rate under the condition of different load conditions and different wind speed limits were discussed, on the basis of research the influence degree of the stability of power grid frequency of low wind power swings, as well as to the wind power is given priority to with gas turbine mainly in both cases the advantages and disadvantages of the grid system, and attempt to put forward the corresponding switch control strategy.

With the expansion of the scale of subsea oil and gas resource exploitation, the offshore multiplatform interconnected power systems have become the main form of offshore platform group energy supply. The offshore multiplatform interconnected power system with wind power can effectively reduce the system fuel consumption and carbon emission, which has become an important direction for the development of future offshore multiplatform interconnected power systems. In this paper, the scenario method is adopted to portray the wind power output. System evaluation indicators considering the economy, reliability and environmental benefits of the system are proposed. Considering the nonnegligible impact of the cable size selection problem on the system economic cost, this paper introduces cable size selection variables in the expansion planning model of the offshore multiplatform interconnected power system with wind power to achieve accurate optimization of the system planning scheme but also greatly increases the difficulty of solving the model. A model linearization method is applied to linearize the nonlinear part of the model, so that the optimized model is a mixed-integer linear programming model under the determined system topology, and thus can be solved using commercial planning software. In addition, an improved genetic algorithm is proposed to optimize the system topology, which improves the efficiency of the model solution. The cases of different scale verify the validity of the model and the solution algorithm and show the impact of the maximum penetration rate of wind power on the total system cost.

In recent years, with regional integrated seabed resource exploitation continuing to expand, offshore oilfield power systems have gradually become networked, forming an offshore oilfield multi-platform interconnected power system. In this paper, a two-level optimization model for offshore oilfield multi-platform interconnected power system structure is developed. The lower-level model uses a minimum cut-load cost model that considers load priority to calculate the power outage losses of all N-1 fault conditions. The reliability assessment method helps to achieve a balance between economy and reliability. Additionally, an optimization model simplification method based on graph theory is proposed, and it uses the minimum cost maximum flow (MCMF) algorithm to optimize the power flow of the grid and narrows the problem's solution space. At the end of modeling, a parallel global taboo search algorithm is used to reduce the computational time and improve the probability of finding an optimal solution. Investigations of a real offshore oilfield multi-platform power system verify the accuracy of the model, the simplification method and the parallel global taboo search algorithm.

Valuable furfuryl alcohol (FFA) and 2,5-dihydroxymethylfuran (DHMF) could be produced by selective hydrogenation of biomass-derived furfural (FF) and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) with high atom economy. In this study, SBA-15 (a kind of mesoporous silica molecular sieve)-supported low metal loading (3 wt% total metal content) PtNi alloy catalyst (PtNi/SBA-15) was synthesized via two steps, including the generation of PtNi alloy by hydrothermal method, and the immobilization of PtNi alloy on SBA-15. PtNi/SBA-15 has ordered mesoporous structure with high surface area, and high dispersion of the PtNi alloy with the formation of Ptδ−-Niδ+ surface pairs on SBA-15, which benefit hydrogen activation and selective carbonyl hydrogenation. The selective hydrogenation of FF and HMF over PtNi/SBA-15 in water solvent at 303 K with 1.5 MPa H2 within 2 h, could respectively yield 64.6% FFA with 77.0% selectivity, and 68.2% DHMF with 81.9% selectivity. Besides, PtNi/SBA-15 exhibited a satisfactory water resistance and stability after recycling at least five runs.

Offshore oil multi-platform interconnected power system is developing rapidly. The proposal of an effective economic evaluation method that fits the actual production situation of offshore oilfields is very meaningful for the planning and construction of multi-platform interconnected power systems. This article proposes the electric depreciation, depletion, and amortization (DD&A) barrel oil cost S and maximum expected benefit per unit power generation Ie as economic indicators, considering the actual production characteristics and life cycle of the oil field. In order to build a complete economic evaluation system, this article also introduces the N−1 pass rate ηN−1, voltage qualification rate γ, power supply reliability ASAI (Average Service Availability Index), and other reliability indicators to evaluate the offshore power system. When calculating the weight of the indicators, analytic hierarchy method (AHP) was applied to calculate subjective weights, and an entropy method was applied to calculate objective weights. To unify the two weights, the ideal point method is proposed to obtain compound weights. Finally, this article selects an offshore oil field in Bohai Bay, China as example, and analyses short-term small-scale, long-term large-scale, and actual power system as calculation examples in different planning periods. The analysis result verifies the effectiveness of the economic evaluation method.

The catalytic hydrogenation of lignin-derived monophenols with high efficiency and selectivity is important for the sustainable production of chemicals and fuels. Here, Pd/γ-Al2O3 was prepared via impregnation and used as catalyst for the hydrogenation of phenols to cyclohexanols under mild conditions in aqueous solution. 3 wt. % Pd/γ-Al2O3 exhibited good catalytic activity for the selective hydrogenation of 4-ethylphenol into 4-ethylcyclohexanol, and a conversion of 100% with selectivity of 98.9% was achieved at 60 °C for 12 h. Other lignin-derived monophenolic model compounds such as 4-methyl phenol and 4-propyl phenol could be hydrogenated into cyclohexanols selectively under optimal conditions. Moreover, the Pd/γ-Al2O3 catalyst displayed good activity for the hydrogenation of the mixture of monophenols directly derived from raw biomass system to cyclohexanols as the main products, and was favorable for the depolymerization of lignin oligomers under milder conditions. Pd/γ-Al2O3 catalyst showed good water resistance and stability after recycling four times. This result might provide a promising approach to selectively producing cyclohexanol directly from raw biomass material under mild conditions in aqueous solutions.

Efficient catalytic hydrogenation of lignin-based derivative vanillin (VAN) into valuable chemicals with a high selectivity is important yet challenging because of the lack of selective and active catalysts. Herein, a mixture of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and water-insoluble tannin (Tan) was employed to create composite fibers through the electrospinning process, resulting in PAN-Tan composite fibers. The formation of hydrogen bonds between the -CN group of PAN and the phenolic -OH group of Tan proved advantageous for high dispersion and reduced physical entanglement, resulting in the production of thinner fibers. Leveraging abundant ortho-phenolic -OH groups of Tan, the PAN-Tan fibers were used to adsorb Pd2+ ions, which were reduced by in situ reduction process to Pd0 particles. Higher solute concentrations in the spinning solution improved the homogeneity of the electrospun PAN-Tan fibers, facilitating the dispersion and reduction of adsorbed Pd2+ on the fiber surface. Subsequently, these Pd/PAN-Tan fibers served as catalysts for the selective hydrogenation of the -CHO group of VAN to produce vanillyl alcohol (VAL) in an aqueous phase. Over 99% of VAN could be hydrogenated into VAL at 50 °C for 60 min under 0.5 MPa H2. Moreover, the catalyst exhibited universal applicability for the hydrogenation of diverse typical lignin-based aromatic aldehydes. The catalytic hydrogenation of VAN was then extended to a fixed-bed reactor for 24 h, and only VAL was detected in the effluent. Our study underscored the low energy consumption for catalyst preparation without additional reducing agents and high temperature carbonization process, the stability and reusability of the Pd/PAN-Tan fiber catalyst and its potential for large-scale industrial applications.
