The transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC) channels have been implicated in various types of malignancies including gastric cancer (GC). However, the detailed mechanisms of TRPC channels underlying cell proliferation and apoptosis of GC cells remain largely unknown. Here, we report that TRPC3 was highly expressed in clinical GC specimens and correlated with GC malignant progression and poor prognosis. Forced expression of TRPC3 in GC cells enhanced both receptor-operated Ca2+ entry (ROCE) and store-operated Ca2+ entry (SOCE) and promoted the nuclear factor of activated T cell 2 (NFATc2) nuclear translocation by AKT/GSK-3β and CNB2 signaling. Pharmacological inhibition of TRPC3 or CRISPR/Cas9-mediated TRPC3 knockout effectively inhibited the growth of GC cells both in vitro and in vivo. These effects were reversible by the rescue of TRPC3 expression. Furthermore, we confirmed the role of TRPC3 and the ROCE-AKT/GSK3β-CNB2/NFATc2 signaling cascade in regulating cell cycle checkpoint, apoptosis cascade, and intracellular ROS production in GC. Overall, our findings suggest an oncogenic role of TRPC3 in GC and may highlight a potential target of TRPC3 for therapeutic intervention of GC and its malignant progression.

A new C13-norisoprenoid, chaenomelesterpenoid C (1), was isolated from the fruits of Chaenomeles sinensis (Dum.Cours.) Koehne together with a known compound, linarionoside C (2). The structure of compound 1 was determined by NMR and MS analysis. Meanwhile, the protective effects of the compounds were tested against corticosterone-induced damage in PC-12 cells using real time cellular analysis (RTCA). Compounds 1 and 2 significantly improved cell viability in corticosterone-induced damaged PC-12 cells with EC50 values of 21.0 and 49.1 μM, respectively.

TiO2 with different crystalline phases and morphologies was grown on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) fibers through electrospinning followed by hydrothermal synthesis in different acidic environments. The structural and morphological characteristics of the as-prepared composites were studied. The results show that the type and the concentration of the acids have a decisive influence on the crystalline phase, morphology, and loading mass of the TiO2 grown on the PVDF fiber. The formation of anatase TiO2 is favored in the hydrothermal environment of H2SO4 and CH3COOH, whereas rutile TiO2 is more readily obtained in HCl and HNO3. The morphology and the mass of the grown TiO2 undergo a significant change with increasing acid concentration. Four samples were selected from the TiO2/PVDF composites hydrothermally synthesized in H2SO4, HNO3, HCl, or CH3COOH to perform photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B under 40 W UV lamp irradiation for 120 min. The TiO2/PVDF sample hydrothermally synthesized in H2SO4 showed the highest photodegradation efficiency (about 63.2%) owing to its excellent optical performance, the highest TiO2 loading mass, and the lowest photogenerated electron-hole recombination rate.

Melatonin, a neurohormone secreted by the pineal gland, has a variety of biological functions, such as circadian rhythms regulation, anti-oxidative activity, immunomodulatory effects, and anittumor, etc. At present, its antitumor effect has attracted people's attention due to its extensive tissue distribution, good tissue compatibility, and low toxic and side effects. In the gastrointestinal tract, there is high level of melatonin and many studies showed melatonin has effects of anti-gastric cancer. In this experiment, human gastric cancer cell lines AGS and MGC803 were used to investigate the intracellular molecular mechanism of melatonin against gastric cancer. After AGS and MGC803 have been treated with melatonin, the changes of cell morphology and cellular structure were observed under electron microscope. Flow cytometer and apoptosis detection kits were used to analyze the effect of apoptosis on AGS and MGC803. The alterations of apoptosis-related proteins Caspase 9, Caspase 3, and upstream regulators AKT, MDM2 including expression, phosphorylation, and activation were detected to analyze the intracellular molecular mechanism of melatonin inhibiting gastric cancer. In AGS and MGC803 cells with melatonin exposure, cleaved Caspase 9 was upregulated and Caspase 3 was activated; moreover, MDM2 and AKT expression and phosphorylation were downregulated. Highly flexible Fe2O3/TiO2 composite nanofibers were successfully synthesized via electrospinning followed by high-temperature calcination. The morphologies and structures of Fe2O3/TiO2 nanofibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, and their optical properties, photocatalysis and photodetection properties were also measured. The flexible nanofibers possess large specific surface area, and can be recycled by a magnet. Moreover, the absorption region has been extended from the UV region to the visible region, improving the performance of photocatalyst under visible light radiation. In addition, the formation of Fe2O3/TiO2 heterostructures suppresses the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, which also improves the photocatalyst behavior. Particularly, these nanofibers can also work as a sensitive UV detector, which offers in situ monitor method of such photocatalysis materials.

There has been great interest in phytoestrogens, which are polyhydric compounds that are derived from plants and have a structure similar to that of the mammalian steroid hormone 17β-estradiol. The present study examined the estrogenic effects of a new natural uridine derivative, lepidiumuridine A (LA), that was isolated from the seeds ofLepidium apetalum. The structure was clarified and determined via analysis of extensive spectroscopic data interpretation. The activity of LA was investigated by measuring the levels of estradiol (E2), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and the uterus growth in mice. The proliferation experiment of MCF-7 breast cancer cells was also conducted. Western blot, in-cell western, and antagonist assays with methyl piperidino-pyrazole (MPP) were used for exploring the mechanism of the effects of LA. The results showed that LA elevated the uterine coefficient, the levels of E2, and FSH significantly. In addition, LA significantly elevated ERαexpression in the uterus and MCF-7 cells. MPP inhibited the proliferation of LA-stimulated MCF-7 cell and ERαexpression in MCF-7 cells. Taken together, LA had an estrogen-like effect, which was mainly mediated by the estrogen receptor ERα.

Due to a variety of outstanding physical and chemical properties such as wide band gap, low resistance, good catalysis, high surface-to-volume ratio, high sensitivity and strong interaction with gas molecules, one-dimensional (1D) micro- and nanoscale indium oxide (In2O3) structures are capable for high-performance optical, electrical and chemical devices, which have attracted much attention in the last decade. In this paper, we first summarize various fabrication methods of 1D micro- and nanoscale In2O3 structures such as chemical vapor deposition, hydrothermal method, thermal evaporation method and electrospinning, then the interesting electrical and optical properties and their potential applications including gas sensors, field-emission transitions, photocatalysts and ultraviolet detectors are reviewed. At last, in order to fulfill the potential applications of 1D micro- and nanoscale In2O3 structures, some challenges have also been discussed.

Three new alkaloids, rehmanalkaloid A-C (1-3), and a new iridoid glycoside, rehmaglutoside L (4), together with nine known compounds, including (8S)-7,8-dihydrogeniposid (5), diglycoside (6), monomelittoside (7), mussaenoside (8), darendoside A (9), syringing (10), phenyl-6-O-β- d -xylopyranosyl-O-β- d -glucopyranoside (11), (7R, 8S)-4,9-dihydroxy-3,3′-dimethoxy-7,8-dihydrobenzofuran-1′-propanalneolignan (12), and trans-liovil (13), were isolated from a 95% EtOH extract of dried roots from Rehmannia glutinosa. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic (UV, IR, HR-ESI–MS, and 1D and 2D NMR) analyses. Additionally, compounds 4-8 (iridoid glycosides) were evaluated for their protective effects on H714444444444444444444466666666669c2 cardiocytes impaired by doxorubicin. Among them, compounds 4-8 exhibited protective effects against DOX-induced cardiotoxicity.

Nanofiber-based air filters and electrostatic precipitation have stimulated considerable interest because of their high-efficiency for PM2.5 capture. In this paper, we introduce a new method of in situ electrospinning (e-spinning) of nanostructures into a polluted enclosed space to efficiently clean the air. From the comparisons of different polymer precursors and different PM2.5 capture techniques, it can be seen that in situ e-spinning of chitosan aqueous solution into the air exhibits the best PM2.5 capture efficiency, which may be attributed to the stronger polarity of chitosan and the synergistic effect of the strong electrostatic adsorption and surface adhesion of the electrospun (e-spun) nanofibers. A removal rate as high as 3.7 μg m-3 s-1 was obtained using this technology with a high efficiency of more than 95% PM2.5 capture. The results obtained from a field test in a smoking room (∼5 × 6 × 3 m3) are still in great agreement with those obtained in an experimental box (∼25 × 30 × 35 cm3). More importantly, chitosan is non-toxic and biodegradable, and is harmless to human health when used as a precursor for in situ e-spinning for PM2.5 capture.

Four new

Four new C-geranyl flavonoids, paulownione D-G (1–4) were isolated from the 50% acetone-H2O extract of the flowers of Paulownia fortunei. The structures of the compounds were determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses (UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR). All of the compounds (1–4) exhibited potent protection effects in H9c2 cardiocytes against the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation.

A new sesquiterpenoid, chaenomelesterpenoid A (1), and a new norisoprenoid, chaenomelesterpenoid B (2), were isolated from the fruits of Chaenomeles sinensis (Thouin) Koehne. Their structures were determined by NMR spectroscopy and MS. In addition, the protective effects of the compounds were tested against corticosterone-induced damage in PC-12 cells using real-time cellular analysis (RTCA). Compounds 1 and 2 significantly improved cell viability and corticosterone-induced damage in PC-12 cells with EC50 values of 15.7 and 12.6 µM, respectively.

Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a key regulator of metabolism, cell growth, and protein synthesis. Since decreased mTOR activity has been found to slow aging in many species, the aim of this study was to examine the activity of mTOR and its phosphorylated form in in vitro and in vivo models mimicking Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and investigate the potential pathway of PGC-1β in regulating mTOR expression. Primary neurons and N2a cells were treated with Aβ25–35, while untreated cells served as controls. The expression of mTOR, p-mTOR (Ser2448), and PGC-1β was determined with Western blotting and RT-PCR assay, and the translocation of mTOR was detected using confocal microscopy. Aβ25–35 treatment stimulated the translocation of mTOR from cytoplasm to nucleus, and resulted in elevated expression of mTOR and p-mTOR (Ser2448) and reduced PGC-1β expression. In addition, overexpression of PGC-1β was found to decrease mTOR expression. The results of this study demonstrate that Aβ increases the expression of mTOR and p-mTOR at the site of Ser2448, and the stimulation of Aβ is likely to depend on sirtuin 1, PPARγ, and PGC-1β pathway in regulating mTOR expression.

The conventional high-voltage power supply (HVPS) used for electrospinning (e-spinning) is heavy and needs an extra electricity supply, which hinders the portability of the e-spinning apparatus. In this communication, we report on a new simple e-spinning setup using a piezoelectric ceramic (PZT) generator to replace HVPS, which makes the setup very simple, and may be the simplest e-spinning apparatus (small volume 5 × 1 × 1 cm3 and light weight < 10 g). The pulsed voltage generated by a PZT element is about 56 kV, which can meet the requirement for e-spinning. Three kinds of polymer solutions such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and polystyrene (PS) have been electrospun into ultrathin fibers successfully, which confirms the feasibility of this apparatus. The influences of different parameters such as e-spinning distance (1–9 cm) and solution concentration (11–14 wt%) were investigated. This work demonstrates a new approach to design a portable and simple e-spinning apparatus.

Pure n-type ZnO nanofibers and p-type Ce-doped ZnO nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning followed by calcination. Their surface morphology, elemental composition, crystal structure, and optical and electronic properties were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and photoluminescence and UV-visible spectroscopy techniques and by their current–voltage (I–V) curves. The energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction spectra showed that Ce was successfully incorporated into the ZnO crystal lattice and that the atomic percentage of Ce to Zn was 1.46%. The photoluminescence integrated intensity ratio of the UV emission to the deep-level green emission for Ce-doped ZnO nanofibers was over twice than that of pure ZnO. The UV-visible absorption edge of the Ce-doped ZnO nanofibers red-shifted by 2.6 nm compared with the pure ZnO nanofibers. The ZnO nanofibers had a good response to ultraviolet radiation. The sensitivity (Imax/I0) of the Ce-doped ZnO nanofibers was 102, which was one order higher in magnitude than that of pure ZnO nanofibers. The field-effect curve suggested that the synthesized Ce-doped ZnO nanofibers were p-type semiconductors. A p–n homojunction device was prepared using the ZnO nanofibers and showed good rectifying behavior. The turn-on voltage reduced by about 10 V under UV irradiation. Both the ZnO nanofibers and the ZnO p–n homojunction had excellent UV sensibilities. These results suggest that Ce-doped ZnO nanofibers may have widespread applications in optical and electronic devices.

Background: This systematic review protocol will appraise the effectiveness and safety of electrical stimulation (ES) for limb spasticity (LS) in children with stroke. Methods: Cochrane Library, EMBASE, PUBMED, PsycINFO, Scopus, OpenGrey, CINAHL, ACMD, CNKI, and WANGFANG will be systematically retrieved for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) testing the effectiveness of ES compared with other interventions on LS in children with stroke. Two independent authors will evaluate eligibility using predefined criteria and will perform data extraction and study quality appraisal of eligible trials. Primary outcomes include gait velocity, and limb spasticity status. Limb function, quality of life, pain intensity, and adverse events will be assessed as secondary outcomes. We will perform data analysis using RevMan 5.3 software. Results: This systematic review will summarize the most recent evidence to assess the effectiveness and safety of ES for LS in children with stroke. Conclusions: The results of this study may help to determine whether ES is effective or not for LS in children with stroke. Study registration: INPLASY202050115.

Melatonin has important immuno-regulatory effects in inflammatory disorders but its specific role in Helicobacter pylori induced gastritis remains unclear. The aim of our study was to analyze the activity of melatonin against H. pylori induced gastritis in vivo, and explore the underlying mechanisms. The H. pylori infected mice showed extensive inflammatory cell infiltration in the gastric mucosa and submucosa, along with significantly reduced spleen and thymus weight. However, 2 and 6 weeks of treatment with 25 and 50 mg/kg melatonin restored the thymus weights relative to that of the untreated mice. TLR2 was upregulated in the gastric mucosa of the infected mice, which was restored to normal levels after 2 and 6 weeks of melatonin treatment. In contrast, TLR4 levels were similar between the treated and untreated mice. Furthermore, melatonin treatment restored spleen Foxp3 and serum TGF-β1 levels that were respectively increased and decreased in the infected mice. H. pylori infected mice also showed a decrease in the serum levels of IL-2, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, IFN-γ and TFN-α following 2 and 6 weeks of melatonin treatment compared to the untreated mice. Melatonin treatment also resulted in decreased CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ Treg cell count in the spleen. The expression of TLR2, MyD88, p-ERK, p-p38, p65, p50 and Foxp3 in the gastric tissues were lower in the untreated mice compared to mice treated with melatonin for 2 weeks. However, the expression levels evened out after 6 weeks of treatment. Taken together, melatonin alleviates H. pylori induced gastritis by regulating TGF-β1 and Foxp3 expression via the TLR2 and TLR4 pathways.

The chemical constituents of the seeds of Lepidium apetalum Willd. were investigated using chromatographic methods, including Diaion HP-20, Toyopearl HW-40, MCI Gel CHP-20, ODS, silica gel chromatography and semi-preparative-HPLC. Three compounds were isolated and their structures were elucidated by spectral data and physicochemical properties, which were identified as lepidiumamide A (1), cis-desulfoglucotropaeolin(2), trans-desulfoglucotropaeolin (3). Among those, compound 1 is a new phenylacetamide, compound 2 and 3 were isolated from this plant for the first time, and their configurations were also identified for the first time.

Ten uridine derivatives (lepidiumuridine B–K) were isolated from the seeds of Lepidium apetalum Willd. Lepidiumuridine B–J were previously undescribed compounds, and were structurally characterized using analysis of their NMR and MS data. Lepidiumuridine C, D, I, and J increased cell proliferation and expression of ERα in the MCF-7 cell line. In addition, blockage of ERα completely abolished cell proliferation and expression of ERα in MCF-7 cells, suggesting that the proliferation effects of lepidiumuridine C, D, I, and J were ERα-mediated. The uridine derivatives might belong to undescribed phytoestrogens.

Surgery-obtained synovium specimens (SSSs) can provide a source of synovial mesenchymal stem cells (SMSCs) for experimental studies. However, these specimens contain diverse tissues, including the intima and subintima; therefore, these SMSCs are not entirely derived from the intima and their cell source is heterogeneous. The present study isolated synovial fragments (SFs) from synovial fluid dilutions extracted from patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) osteoarthrosis. Unlike SSSs, SFs, which are membranous and translucent, consist of only several cell layers, indicating the presence of only the intima. In the present study, SF cells (SFCs) and SSS cells (SSSCs) exhibited a homogeneous, fibroblast‑like, spindle‑shaped morphology after passaging in vitro. Furthermore, both cell types exhibited similar proliferative and differentiation potentials in vitro. However, SFCs exhibited more uniform surface markers compared with SSSCs when analysed by flow cytometry. Taken together, these results indicated that SFs contained a greater amount of unmixed intima than SSSs, and that SFCs exhibited more homogeneous characteristics than SSSCs, thereby offering an improved source of SMSCs in the TMJ.

Globally, gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common types of cancer and the third leading cause of cancer‑related death. In China, gastric and liver cancers have the highest mortality rates. Melatonin, also known as N-acetyl‑5-methoxytryptamine, is a hormone that is produced by the pineal gland in animals and regulates sleep and wakefulness. Melatonin has been shown to inhibit various carcinomas, including GC. There are many different hypotheses to explain the anticancer effects of melatonin, including stimulation of apoptosis, inhibition of cell growth, regulation of anticancer immunity, induction of free-radical scavenging, and the competitive inhibition of estrogen. However, the underlying mechanism by which these effects are elicited remains elusive. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of melatonin on human GC cells and determine the underlying molecular mechanism. We treated SGC-7901 GC cells with melatonin and analyzed the resulting protein changes using protein chip technology. Several proteins related to cell apoptosis and proliferation were identified and further tested in SGC-7901 GC cells. We found that melatonin induced cell cycle arrest and the downregulation of CDC25A, phospho-CDC25A (at Ser75), p21 (p21Cip1/p21Waf1) and phospho-p21 (at Thr145). Melatonin also induced upregulation of Bax, downregulation of Bcl-xL, an increase in cleaved caspase-9 level and activation of caspase-3, which confirmed the involvement of the mitochondria in melatonin‑induced apoptosis. Upstream regulators of the above proteins, MDM2, phospho-MDM2 (at Ser166) and AKT, phospho-AKT (at Thr308) were all attenuated by melatonin, which led to an increase in p53. The present study demonstrated that the oncostatic effects of melatonin on SGC-7901 GC cells are mediated via the blockade of the AKT/MDM2 intracellular pathway.

A new kind of human-imitate shooting platform is needed, so that the automation and standardization of small arm experiment could be realized. And the main part of shooting platform design is the modeling of human-gun interaction system. The main object of this paper is modeling human-gun interaction system by testing the model of the system. Firstly, the testing scheme is promoted for testing interaction between gun and human shoulder, and high quality test data is collected. Then, the model parameter of human-gun system is calculated by the method of model parameter identification. 3D model of human-gun system is built. At last, the dynamic simulation is made by ADAMS. And human-gun model built by experiment method is verified.

Introduction This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic outcomes of intermaxillary elastic traction in the treatment of unilateral glenoid fossa fractures. Methods Five patients with traumatic unilateral glenoid fossa fractures were treated with intermaxillary elastic traction at the Sun Yat-Sen University Hospital of Stomatology during a 5-year period from 2006 to 2011. Pantomography and Schuller position radiographs were obtained at days 7, 28, and 90 to monitor glenoid fossa fracture healing. Removal of the intermaxillary elastic traction and the arch bar splint occurred at day 90, and the patients were advised to initiate mouth-opening exercises. Results Schuller position radiographs revealed a 100% reduction rate of the glenoid fossa fracture for all patients; morphologies of the glenoid fossa and mandibular condyle were normal. Follow-up ranged from 6 months to 2 years. The occlusal relationship (degree of mouth opening) was excellent in all cases. Patient recoveries were uneventful; no complications occurred such as pain, snapping, or limitations of mouth opening. Average mouth opening was measured at 3.6 cm at the last follow-up. Conclusions Intermaxillary elastic traction is an effective, simple, and feasible method in the treatment of a glenoid fossa fracture. Accurate reduction and stable fixation may be achieved without significant complications.

HTML is utilized widely in web information description and exhibition. Although new technologies continue appearing during the HTML history, the basic structure and principal of HTML remains the same and HTML is still an important part for tasks such as web development and even dynamic page exhibition. We currently have mainly two types of parsers for HTML, SAX and DOM. The problem is that, the former is driven by parsing events but can only access the nodes sequentially with a slow speed, and the latter should load the whole document into memory and will consume a lot of space. In order to solve such problem, we proposed an automatic batch extraction method for specific content of HTML based on tag locations. The extraction process can be divided to two main steps, the first step is locating the start and end positions of HTML tags, the second step is finding the desired content based on the location of tags and corresponding attribute information. The first step is the core of the whole process. An example of extraction of specific content of a search result page verifies the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm can be further used for advanced tasks such as data mining and knowledge base establishment.

When the pod works in the air, pod can produce the overshoot and stability. To solve this problem, the study demonstrates that the fuzzy-PID was used to control the pod. Simulink simulation module of Matlab was using to establish a control system model pod exterior orientation framework to verify the simulation, anti-jamming performance and tracking performance of the system. The results show that fuzzy PID control method can make the system have good stability, noise immunity and tracking capability.

We use personnel positioning detection substation of Wang Zhuang coal mine as the object of study, and improve the radio frequency identification technology of personnel positioning system through underground tunnels in the Lu'an Vocational and Technical College. By increasing the data record points for position detection station, we achieve a typical personnel positioning system at the present stage, which greatly improves probability of rescuing the stall in the accident; By increasing the wireless signal amplifier for position detection substation, it increased the distance of recognizing station staff card, especially with obstacle for the radio frequency. It provides a method to improve the position detection station function of personnel positioning system.

A form of hyperbolic mild-slope equations extended to account for rapidly varying topography, nonlinear dispersion relation, wind input and energy dissipation during the process of wave propagation, has been derived from the mild-slope equation modified first in this paper. With the inclusion of the input of wind energy, the resultant model can be applied in some areas where the effect of wind could not be neglected. The wave-breaking mechanism which will cause energy dissipation remarkably, as well as the bottom friction, is introduced and discussed during this derivation. Since the modifying factors have taken plenty of aspects into consideration, the extended equations hold enlarged application and increased accuracy.

The purpose of this study was to compare outcomes of open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) versus closed reduction (CR) for mandibular condylar fractures. Patients included in the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database (2005–2014) who were admitted to the hospital for unilateral mandibular condylar fracture were included in the analysis. Patient characteristics and clinical outcomes were compared between those who received ORIF and those receiving CR. Logistic regression analysis was performed to estimate odds ratios (ORs) for each aspect of the main observed events. NIS data of 12,303 patients who underwent ORIF and 4310 patients who underwent CR were analyzed. Compared to CR, ORIF had an increased risk of longer hospital stay (adjusted OR [aOR] = 1.78, 95% confidence intervals [CIs] = 1.51–2.09), higher total medical cost (aOR = 2.57, 95% CI = 2.17–3.05), and hematoma development (aOR = 10.66, 95% CI = 1.43–75.59), but had a lower risk of having wound complications (aOR = 0.86, 95% CI = 0.79–0.93). Patients with mandibular condylar fractures who receive ORIF have greater risk of having an extended hospital stay, higher total medical costs, and hematoma development but lower risk of experiencing wound complications compared to those who receive CR.

Novel flexible and recyclable core-shell heterostructured fibers based on cauliflower-like MoS2 and TiO2/PVDF fibers have been designed through one-step hydrothermal treatment based on electrospun tetrabutyl orthotitanate (TBOT)/PVDF fibers. The low hydrothermal temperature avoids the high temperature process and keeps the flexibility of the as-synthesized materials. The formation mechanism of the resultant product is discussed in detail. The composite of MoS2 not only expands the light harvesting window to include visible light, but also increases the separation efficiency of photo-generated electrons and holes. The as-prepared product has proven to possess excellent and stable photocatalytic activity in the degradation of Rhodamine B and levofloxacin hydrochloride under visible light irradiation. In addition, the TiO2/PVDF@MoS2 core-shell heterostructured fibers exhibit self-cleaning property to dye droplets under visible light irradiation. Meanwhile, due to its hydrophobicity, the resultant product can automatically remove dust on its surface under the rolling condition of droplets. Hence, the as-prepared product cannot only degrade the contaminated compounds on the surface of the material, but also reduce the maintenance cost of the material due to its self-cleaning performance. Therefore, the as-prepared product possesses potential applications in degradation of organic pollutants and water treatment, which makes it a prospective material in the field of environmental treatment.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the ability of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) to undergo multilineage differentiation. Human BMSCs were isolated from the ilia of donors by density gradient centrifugation, then purified by adherent separation and cultured in vitro. P3 or P4 BMSC populations were collected and induced for multilineage differentiation into osteoblasts, adipocytes and neuroblasts using an inductive medium in vitro. The BMSCs were cultured in either an osteoblast or chondroblast induction medium, seeded onto porous coral scaffolds and implanted into mice in vivo. The mice were sacrificed by anesthesia overdose at 6 or 9 weeks post-surgery. The scaffolds were then removed for analysis. Lipid vacuoles were observed subsequent to being cultured in an adipogenic medium. These accumulated lipid vacuoles were detected using Sudan Black B and Oil Red O (positive) staining. Deposited calcium was detected using von Kossa and Alizarin Red S (positive) staining subsequent to being cultured in an osteogenic medium. The BMSCs retracted to form neuron-like cells with axon- and dendrite-like processes following induction by β-mercaptoethanol. The cells were positively stained by toluidine blue and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) immunohistochemistry. Newly formed bone tissues were observed and islands of cartilage tissue were also formed at 9 weeks post-implantation in vivo. The present study demonstrated that human BMSCs were homogeneous and differentiated with high fidelity to osteogenic, adipogenic, neurogenic or chondrogenic lineages. These cells also form bone and cartilage tissues when implanted in vivo and may therefore be used as seed cells in bone tissue engineering.

For the precision rotor position control of stream selector, a control system based on direct current motor (DC motor) has been constructed. The DC motor, with a high-precision incremental encoder used as the driving force, was assembled with the stream selector rotor through a shaft coupling. Following the motor rotation, the encoder generated two-channel quadrature pulses and one channel index pulses. An ultralow-power consumption microcontroller (msp430f2232) received theses pulses and calculated them. The position of the slot was determined by the number of pulses counted from the index pulse. Operator can set and monitored the slot positions of five stream selectors simultaneously through the program which was written with LabVIEW on the host computer. This module featured high reliability and low power consumption compared with the one driven by step motor. Beyond that, it was much smaller and lighter.

An overall Low-Temperature Co-flred Ceramics (LTCC) package solution for X-band T/R module has been presented in this paper. This tile type package contributes to a dramatic reduction in size and weight of the T/R module. Moreover, an obvious merit of ceramic housing is better consistency of Coe-cient of Thermal Expansion (CTE), compared with the traditional combination of ceramic board and metal housing. The schematic diagram and 3-D structure of the T/R module have been presented and a novel vertical interconnection based on Ball Grid Array (BGA) has been proposed to connect vias in the lid and those in the stage of the main LTCC pan. The LTCC T/R module has been fabricated and measured. It is compact in size (20 £ 20 £ 2:6mm 3 ) and has a weight of 3.5g. The measured transmit output power is 33§1dBm in the frequency range from 8.8GHz to 10.4GHz, and the measured receive gain and Noise Figure are 29{30.5dB and 2.6{2.8dB, respectively.

Functionalized organozinc reagents readily react with various aryldiazonium salts furnishing regioselectively polyfunctional indoles after heating with microwave irradiation. This new organometallic variation of the Fischer indole synthesis tolerates a wide range of functional groups and can be readily scaled up.
