Abstract Periodontitis affects billions of people worldwide. To address relationships of periodontal niche cell types and microbes in periodontitis, we generated an integrated single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) atlas of human periodontium (34-sample, 105918-cell), including sulcular and junctional keratinocytes (SK/JKs). SK/JKs displayed altered differentiation states and were enriched for effector cytokines in periodontitis. Single-cell metagenomics revealed 37 bacterial species with cell-specific tropism. Fluorescence in situ hybridization detected intracellular 16 S and mRNA signals of multiple species and correlated with SK/JK proinflammatory phenotypes in situ. Cell-cell communication analysis predicted keratinocyte-specific innate and adaptive immune interactions. Highly multiplexed immunofluorescence (33-antibody) revealed peri-epithelial immune foci, with innate cells often spatially constrained around JKs. Spatial phenotyping revealed immunosuppressed JK-microniches and SK-localized tertiary lymphoid structures in periodontitis. Here, we demonstrate impacts on and predicted interactomics of SK and JK cells in health and periodontitis, which requires further investigation to support precision periodontal interventions in states of chronic inflammation.

We report the effect of chemical composition variation on the superconductivity in noncentrosymmetric β-Mn-type high-entropy alloys (HEAs) studied in two very similar Ta5+xMo35−xW5Re35Ru20C20 and Ta5+yW35−yMo5Re35Ru20C20 series. It is found that both HEAs consist of a single cubic β-Mn-type phase for 0 ≤ x ≤ 6 and 0 ≤ y ≤ 9. Bulk fully gapped superconductivity is observed for all these HEAs and their zero-temperature upper critical fields approach the Pauli paramagnetic limit. While our analysis suggests that Tc of these HEAs is mainly controlled by the electron–phonon coupling strength, Tc of the Ta5+xMo35−xW5Re35Ru20C20 series is always higher than that of the Ta5+yW35−yMo5Re35Ru20C20 one even for (nearly) the same valence electron concentration and unit-cell volume. This difference is attributed to the different contributions of Mo and W to the electronic structure, which is supported by the first-principles calculations. Our study suggests that the chemical composition effect should be considered to better understand the superconducting behavior in noncentrosymmetric HEAs.

Abstract Dental caries is the most common human disease caused by oral biofilms despite the widespread use of fluoride as the primary anticaries agent. Recently, an FDA-approved iron oxide nanoparticle (ferumoxytol, Fer) has shown to kill and degrade caries-causing biofilms through catalytic activation of hydrogen peroxide. However, Fer cannot interfere with enamel acid demineralization. Here, we show notable synergy when Fer is combined with stannous fluoride (SnF2), markedly inhibiting both biofilm accumulation and enamel damage more effectively than either alone. Unexpectedly, we discover that the stability of SnF2 is enhanced when mixed with Fer in aqueous solutions while increasing catalytic activity of Fer without any additives. Notably, Fer in combination with SnF2 is exceptionally effective in controlling dental caries in vivo, even at four times lower concentrations, without adverse effects on host tissues or oral microbiome. Our results reveal a potent therapeutic synergism using approved agents while providing facile SnF2 stabilization, to prevent a widespread oral disease with reduced fluoride exposure.

Cooperative autonomous air combat of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of the main combat modes in future air warfare, which becomes even more complicated with highly changeable situation and uncertain information of the opponents. As such, this paper presents a cooperative decision-making method based on incomplete information dynamic game to generate maneuver strategies for multiple UAVs in air combat. Firstly, a cooperative situation assessment model is presented to measure the overall combat situation. Secondly, an incomplete information dynamic game model is proposed to model the dynamic process of air combat, and a dynamic Bayesian network is designed to infer the tactical intention of the opponent. Then a reinforcement learning framework based on multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient is established to obtain the perfect Bayes-Nash equilibrium solution of the air combat game model. Finally, a series of simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, and the simulation results show effective synergies and cooperative tactics.

Abstract Streptococcus mutans has been implicated as the primary pathogen in childhood caries (tooth decay). While the role of polymicrobial communities is appreciated, it remains unclear whether other microorganisms are active contributors or interact with pathogens. Here, we integrate multi-omics of supragingival biofilm (dental plaque) from 416 preschool-age children (208 males and 208 females) in a discovery-validation pipeline to identify disease-relevant inter-species interactions. Sixteen taxa associate with childhood caries in metagenomics-metatranscriptomics analyses. Using multiscale/computational imaging and virulence assays, we examine biofilm formation dynamics, spatial arrangement, and metabolic activity of Selenomonas sputigena, Prevotella salivae and Leptotrichia wadei, either individually or with S. mutans. We show that S. sputigena, a flagellated anaerobe with previously unknown role in supragingival biofilm, becomes trapped in streptococcal exoglucans, loses motility but actively proliferates to build a honeycomb-like multicellular-superstructure encapsulating S. mutans, enhancing acidogenesis. Rodent model experiments reveal an unrecognized ability of S. sputigena to colonize supragingival tooth surfaces. While incapable of causing caries on its own, when co-infected with S. mutans, S. sputigena causes extensive tooth enamel lesions and exacerbates disease severity in vivo. In summary, we discover a pathobiont cooperating with a known pathogen to build a unique spatial structure and heighten biofilm virulence in a prevalent human disease.

Biofilms are structured communities of microbial cells embedded in a self-produced matrix of extracellular polymeric substances. Biofilms are associated with many health issues in humans, including chronic wound infections and tooth decay. Current antimicrobials are often incapable of disrupting the polymeric biofilm matrix and reaching the bacteria within. Alternative approaches are needed. Here, we described a complex structure of a dextran-coated gold-in-gold cage nanoparticle that enabled photoacoustic and photothermal properties for biofilm detection and treatment. Activation of these nanoparticles with a near infrared laser could selectively detect and kill biofilm bacteria with precise spatial control and in a short timeframe. We observed a strong biocidal effect against both Streptococcus mutans and Staphylococcus aureus biofilms in mouse models of oral plaque and wound infections, respectively. These effects were over 100 times greater than those seen with chlorhexidine, a conventional antimicrobial agent. Moreover, this approach did not adversely affect surrounding tissues. We concluded that photothermal ablation using theranostic nanoparticles is a rapid, precise, and nontoxic method to detect and treat biofilm-associated infections.

Time-based prospective memory (TBPM) refers to the ability of an individual to successfully execute an expected plan in the future at a certain time point or after a definite period of time. This study investigated the potential developmental mechanism of school-age children’s TBPM ability from the perspective of time monitoring. Experiment 1 used a between-subjects design of three ages (7, 9, 11) × two TBPM types (time point, time period) to investigate the trends and characteristics of two types of TBPM in children aged 7–11 years old. Experiment 2 used a between-subjects design of three ages (7, 9, 11) × two monitoring conditions (free monitoring, fixed monitoring) to investigate differences in two types of TBPM and monitoring behavior among school-age children under different monitoring conditions. These results showed that the age effect of TBPM was affected by the type of prospective memory (PM) and that time-point PM performance was significantly better than time-period PM performance among school-age children. These findings indicate that clear and definite external cues are helpful for school-age children in performing TBPM tasks. Moreover, there were significant differences found in the TBPM performance of school-age children under different time monitoring conditions. The performance of older children was significantly better than that of younger children. This indicates that older children can better allocate their attentional resources and use time monitoring strategies to improve their performance in PM tasks. Accordingly, this study showed that the TBPM ability of 7- to 11-year-old children is in continuous development and that the time monitoring behavior in the TBPM task is affected by task type and monitoring conditions.

Summary: Hydrogen is one of the most promising future energy sources due to its highly efficient energy storage and carbon-free features. However, the energy input required for a hydrogen production protocol is an essential factor affecting its widespread adoption. Water electrolysis for hydrogen production currently serves a vital role in the industrial field, but the high overpotential of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) dramatically impedes its practical application. The formaldehyde oxidation reaction (FOR) has emerged as a more thermodynamically favorable alternative, and the innovation of compatible electrodes may steer the direction of technological evolution. We have designed Au-Vo-NiO/CC as a catalyst that triggers the electrocatalytic oxidation of formaldehyde, efficiently producing H2 at the ultra-low potential of 0.47 V (vs. RHE) and maintaining long-term stability. Integrated with the cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), this bipolar H2 production protocol achieves a nearly 100% Faraday efficiency (FE).

Based on the phase change properties of vanadium dioxide (VO2), we propose a terahertz metamaterial absorber that can be switched flexibly between ultra-broadband and dual bands. The absorber consists of a resonator array above a conductive ground layer separated with a dielectric spacer, which includes four square-loop VO2 resonators and a crossed gold resonator in each unit cell. By changing the conductivity of VO2 through thermal control, the absorber can achieve the switching between ultra-broadband absorption and dual-band absorption. Simulation results show that at high temperature, the absorber realizes more than 90% absorption bandwidth in the range of 3.98 to 9.06 THz, which can be elucidated by the wave-interference theory and impedance matching theory. At low temperature, up to 95% of the dual-band absorption occurs at 5.95 and 6.95 THz, which originates the dipole mode and nonlocal surface-Bloch mode of metal resonators. In addition, the absorber has the advantages of polarization-independence and wide-angle absorption. Compared with previous studies, our design can switch between two absorption modes and its absorption performance is greatly improved. The proposed absorber design scheme is expected to expand terahertz devices and enable a variety of applications in the terahertz range, such as modulation, sensing, stealth, and switching devices.

Abstract β-ThRhGe, the high-temperature polymorph of ThRhGe, is isostructural to the well-known ferromagnetic superconductor URhGe. However, contrary to URhGe, β-ThRhGe is nonmagnetic and undergoes an incomplete structural phase transition at 244 K, followed by a superconducting transition below 3.36 K. Here we show that the isovalent substitution of Ir for Rh leads to a strong enhancement of superconductivity by suppressing the structural transition. At x = 0.5, where the structural transition disappears, T c reaches a maximum of 6.88 K. The enhancement of superconductivity is linked to the proximity to a structural quantum critical point at this Ir concentration, as suggested by the analysis of thermodynamic as well as resistivity data. First principles calculations indicate that the Ir doping has little effect on the electronic band dispersion near the Fermi level. β-ThRh1−x Ir x Ge thus provides an excellent platform to study the interplay between superconductivity and structural quantum criticality in actinide-containing compounds.

Bacteria and fungi can interact to form inter-kingdom biofilms in the oral cavity. Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans are frequently detected in saliva and in dental biofilms associated with early childhood caries (tooth-decay), a prevalent oral disease induced by dietary sugars. However, how different sugars influence this bacterial-fungal interaction remains unclear. Here, we investigate whether specific sugars affect the inter-kingdom interaction in saliva and subsequent biofilm formation on tooth-mimetic surfaces. The microbes were incubated in saliva containing common dietary sugars (glucose and fructose, sucrose, starch, and combinations) and analyzed via fluorescence imaging and quantitative computational analyses. The bacterial and fungal cells in saliva were then transferred to hydroxyapatite discs (tooth mimic) to allow microbial binding and biofilm development. We found diverse bacterial-fungal aggregates which varied in size, structure, and spatial organization depending on the type of sugars. Sucrose and starch+sucrose induced the formation of large mixed-species aggregates characterized by bacterial clusters co-bound with fungal cells, whereas mostly single-cells were found in the absence of sugar or in the presence of glucose and fructose. Notably, both colonization and further growth on the apatitic surface were dependent on sugar-mediated aggregation, leading to biofilms with distinctive spatial organizations and 3D architectures. Starch+sucrose and sucrose-mediated aggregates developed into large and highly acidogenic biofilms with complex network of bacterial and fungal cells (yeast and hyphae) surrounded by an intricate matrix of extracellular glucans. In contrast, biofilms originated from glucose and fructose-mediated consortia (or without sugar) were sparsely distributed on the surface without structural integration, growing predominantly as individual species with reduced acidogenicity. These findings reveal the impact of dietary sugars on inter-kingdom interactions in saliva and how they mediate biofilm formation with distinctive structural organization and varying acidogenicity implicated with human tooth-decay.

Some nodes and other network nodes are within the communication range of each other in the normal data transmission process, which may lead to interference in the data transmission. In order to solve the problem of data interference in the Media Access Control (MAC) protocol of multi-Personal Area Network (PAN) Terahertz Wireless PAN (WPAN) in the normal channel time allocation period, a low interference multi-PAN MAC protocol for Terahertz WPAN is proposed. By classifying normal nodes, the concept of edge node type is proposed to find out the normal nodes that may cause interference. Adaptive normal node type reporting mechanism is applied, which may inform the Piconet Coordinator (PNC) of the node type of the normal node.A new mechanism for normal node slot allocation is also used, which enable the PNC to allocation slot resources according to the normal type. Therefore, the interference of conventional nodes in the process of data transmission is reduced. The data transmission success rate and network throughput are improved effectively, and the average delay is reduced.

Abstract Superconductivity frequently appears by doping compounds that show a collective phase transition. So far, however, this has not been observed in topological materials. Here we report the discovery of superconductivity induced by Ga doping in orthorhombic Re3Ge7, which undergoes a second-order metal–insulator-like transition at ~58 K and is predicted to have a nontrivial band topology. It is found that the substitution of Ga for Ge leads to hole doping in Re3Ge7−x Ga x . As a consequence, the phase transition is gradually suppressed and disappears above x = 0.2. At this x value, superconductivity emerges and T c exhibits a dome-like doping dependence with a maximum value of 3.37 K at x = 0.25. First principles calculations suggest that the phase transition in Re3Ge7 is associated with an electronic instability driven by Fermi-surface nesting and the nontrival band topology is preserved after Ga doping. Our results indicate that Ga-doped Re3Ge7 provides a rare opportunity to study the interplay between superconductivity and competing electronic states in a topologically nontrivial system.

We report a possible coexistence of nontrivial topology and antiferromagnetism in the newly discovered compounds EuCdBi2, with magnetic Eu layer locating above and below Bi square net. The X-ray diffraction on single crystals and powder indicats that this 112-type material crystalizes in space group of I4/mmm, the same as SrMnBi2 and EuMnBi2. Our combined measurements of magnetization, electrical transport and specific heat consistently reveal antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition of Eu2+ moments at TN = 20 K. The Eu moments are not saturated under a field of 7 T at 1.8 K. The anisotropic susceptibility suggests the Eu moments lie in the ab plane, and a metamagnetic (MM) transition is observed near 1 T below TN. Large positive magnetoresistance (MR) present for both H ‖ ab and H ‖ c, which are considered to contain part contributions from Dirac bands. Hall measurements show the electron-hole compensation effect is prominent above 100 K, with a crossover of Hall resistance from negative to positive values at ∼150 K. The fitted mobility of electrons is as high as 3250 cm2 V−1 S−1 at 1.8 K. Interestingly, the rapid increase of carrier density and suppression of mobility appear at around TN, indicating non-negligible interaction between Eu moments and electron/hole bands. EuCdBi2 may provide a new platform to investigate the interplay of topological bands and antiferromagnetic order.

ABSTRACT Biofilm community development has been established as a sequential process starting from the attachment of single cells on a surface. However, microorganisms are often found as aggregates in the environment and in biological fluids. Here, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the native structure and composition of aggregated microbial assemblages in human saliva and investigate their spatiotemporal attachment and biofilm community development. Using multiscale imaging, cell sorting, and computational approaches combined with sequencing analysis, a diverse mixture of aggregates varying in size, structure, and microbial composition, including bacteria associated with host epithelial cells, can be found in saliva in addition to a few single-cell forms. Phylogenetic analysis reveals a mixture of complex consortia of aerobes and anaerobes in which bacteria traditionally considered early and late colonizers are found mixed together. When individually tracked during colonization and biofilm initiation, aggregates rapidly proliferate and expand tridimensionally, modulating population growth, spatial organization, and community scaffolding. In contrast, most single cells remain static or are incorporated by actively growing aggregates. These results suggest an alternative biofilm development process whereby aggregates containing different species or associated with human cells collectively adhere to the surface as “growth nuclei” to build the biofilm and shape polymicrobial communities at various spatial and taxonomic scales. IMPORTANCE Microbes in biological fluids can be found as aggregates. How these multicellular structures bind to surfaces and initiate the biofilm life cycle remains understudied. Here, we investigate the structural organization of microbial aggregates in human saliva and their role in biofilm formation. We found diverse mixtures of aggregates with different sizes, structures, and compositions in addition to free-living cells. When individually tracked during binding and growth on tooth-like surfaces, most aggregates developed into structured biofilm communities, whereas most single cells remained static or were engulfed by the growing aggregates. Our results reveal that preformed microbial consortia adhere as “buds of growth,” governing biofilm initiation without specific taxonomic order or cell-by-cell succession, which provide new insights into spatial and population heterogeneity development in complex ecosystems.

The electrical resistivity of Fermi liquids usually shows square power law with respect to temperature (T 2) due to either inter-bandscattering or Umklapp process. Here, authors report T 2 resitivity below a temperature where neither Umkapp nor interband scattering is responsible in a dilute metal Bi2O2Se.

With the development of Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), it has become a key technology to realize the vision of the Internet of Things. In MEC, users can upload tasks to edge nodes for faster processing speed and lower local energy consumption. However, as the mobility of users and the limited resources of the edge nodes, some edge nodes cannot provide high-quality services. In this case, we study service migration strategy in the MEC system to migrate services from the initial nodes to other edge nodes that can provide services to meet the needs of users. By making service migration decision and allocating computation resource, our work minimizes the delay and the energy consumption caused by finishing tasks. Specifically, we set up an efficient service migration model and formulate the service migration problem as a non-linear 0-1 programming problem. To solve this problem, we design a Particle Swarm based Service Migration scheme (PSSM) which includes Queuing Delay Prediction algorithm (QDP), Delay-aware Computation Resource Allocation algorithm (DCRA), and Modified Quantum Particle Swarm algorithm (MQPS). For evaluating the performance of the proposed PSSM, we conduct simulation in a practical scenario. The results demonstrate that our scheme not only can effectively reduce delay and energy consumption, but also improve the processing capability of servers.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have emerged as prime technologies due to their compatible size and flexible architecture. UAV technology offers services in vast application such as inter-UAV communication, wireless sensors, and the future Internet of Things (IoT) due to its compatible architecture. A UAV’s speed varies while roaming, which may increase the risk of a connection failure. Various routing schemes have provided solutions to address this essential issue for three-dimensional (3D) UAV-based networks. The main category of UAV routing schemes is position-based routing schemes, which choose the best route based on the UAV’s location. However, position-based routing has the drawback that it depends on exact positioning and tracking. An efficient routing scheme can resolve the significant issue associated with UAV mobility in a 3D environment. This paper aims to address the issues of static preloaded location values by presenting a hybrid routing scheme named the Position-Monitor-based Hybrid Routing Protocol (PMHRP), which takes advantage of both geographic and topology-based routing protocols. The PMHRP establishes the shortest possible route based on a UAV’s Global Positioning System (GPS). Moreover, the proposed protocol utilizes the links for data forwarding. Furthermore, a disaster-based UAV scenario is adopted to provide connections to IoT devices. A detailed comparison analysis shows the proposed scheme’s extreme performance and results in up to 65% to 73% better packet delivery ratio (PDR) than batch mark schemes under standard 3D UAV scenarios. Compared to earlier work, the proposed scheme reduces the average delay by up to 68% to 75%. Further proposed routing schemes offer 70% to 72% more throughput than the existing routing schemes, and NRL (%) is 42% to 49% lower than the existing routing schemes. This happens because of the global routing information available at each UAV which is provided by the position head coordinator (PHC) UAV in the proposed work.

We report the crystal structure and superconducting properties of new V5+2xNb35−xMo35−xIr10Pt15 high-entropy alloys (HEAs) for x in the range of 0 ≤x≤ 10. These HEAs are found to crystallize in a cubic A15-type structure and have a weakly coupled, fully gapped superconducting state. A maximum Tc of 5.18 K and zero-temperature upper critical field Bc2(0) of 6.4 T are observed at x = 0, and both quantities decrease monotonically with the increase of V content x. In addition, Tc shows an increase with increasing valence electron concentration from 6.4 to 6.5, which is compared with other A15-type HEA and binary superconductors.

We report synthesis, crystal structure, and physical properties of Sr2Cr2AsO3. The new compound crystallizes in a Sr2GaO3CuS-type structure with two distinct Cr sites, Cr(1) in the perovskite-like block layers of “Sr3Cr2O6” and Cr(2) in the ThCr2Si2-type layers of “SrCr2As2”. An inter-block-layer charge transfer is explicitly evidenced, which dopes electrons in the CrO2 planes and simultaneously dopes holes into the CrAs layers. Measurements of electrical resistivity, magnetization, and specific heat, in combination with density-functional theoretical calculations, indicate that the title material is an antiferromagnetic metal. The Cr(2) magnetic moments in the CrAs layers order at 420 K, while the Cr(1) spins in the CrO2 planes show quasi-two-dimensional magnetism with long-range ordering below 80 K. Both Néel temperatures are significantly reduced, compared with those of the cousin material Sr2Cr3As2O2, probably due to the intrinsic charge-carrier doping. Complex re-entrant magnetic transitions with a huge magnetic hysteresis were observed at low temperatures.

Ferumoxytol is a nanoparticle formulation approved for systemic use to treat iron deficiency. Liu et al. show that topical use of ferumoxytol, in combination with low concentrations of H2O2, disrupts intractable oral biofilms and prevents tooth decay in vitro and in an animal model.

We analyze the secrecy outage performance of a mixed radio frequency-free space optical (RF-FSO) transmission system with imperfect channel state information (CSI). We deal with a single-input multiple-output wiretap model, where a base station (works as the relay) forwards the signal transmitted from a user (source) to a data center (works as the destination), while an eavesdropper wiretaps the confidential information by decoding the received signal. Both the relay and the eavesdropper are armed with multiple antennas, and maximal ratio combining scheme is utilized to improve the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The effects of imperfect CSI of the RF link and the FSO link, misalignment, detection schemes, and relaying schemes on the secrecy outage performance of mixed RF-FSO systems are studied. First, the cumulative distribution function and probability density function of FSO links with pointing error and two different detection technologies are derived. Then, we derive the closed-form expressions for the lower bound of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) with fixed-gain relaying and variable-gain relaying schemes. Furthermore, asymptotic results for the SOP are investigated by exploiting the unfolding of Meijer's G-function when the electrical SNR of FSO link approaches infinity. Finally, Monte Carlo simulation results are presented to corroborate the correctness of the analysis.

Glycosyltransferase (Gtf) is one of the crucial virulence factors of Streptococcus mutans, a major etiological pathogen of dental caries. All the available evidence indicates that extracellular polysaccharide, particularly glucans produced by S. mutans Gtfs, contribute to the cariogenicity of dental biofilms. Therefore, inhibition of Gtf activity and the consequential polysaccharide synthesis may impair the virulence of cariogenic biofilms, which could be an alternative strategy to prevent the biofilm-related disease. Up to now, many Gtf inhibitors have been recognized in natural products, which remain the major and largely unexplored source of Gtf inhibitors. These include catechin-based polyphenols, flavonoids, proanthocyanidin oligomers, polymeric polyphenols, and some other plant-derived compounds. Metal ions, oxidizing agents, and some other synthetic compounds represent another source of Gtf inhibitors, with some novel molecules either discovered by structure-based virtual screening or synthesized based on key structures of known inhibitors as templates. Antibodies that inhibit one or more Gtfs have also been developed as topical agents. Although many agents have been shown to possess potent inhibitory activity against glucan synthesis by Gtfs, bacterial cell adherence, and caries development in animal models, much research remains to be performed to find out their mechanism of action, biological safety, cariostatic efficacies, and overall influence on the entire oral community. As a strategy to inhibit the virulence of cariogenic microbes rather than eradicate them from the microbial community, Gtf inhibition represents an approach of great potential to prevent dental caries.

In large-scale astronomical surveys, traditional supernova detection pipelines rely on complex and relatively inefficient image differencing techniques. This paper proposes an end-to-end deep-learning supernova detection network, the Real-Time SuperNova DEtection TRansformer (RT-SNDETR). This network partially replaces traditional pipelines by integrating image differencing, source detection, and Real-bogus classification, achieving a speed 51.49 times that of the fastest image differencing method, SFFT. Additionally, it remains competitive with methods like YOLO v8, offering a well-balanced trade-off between speed and accuracy. Experimental results highlight RT-SNDETR's superior performance, with an average precision(AP) of 96.30 per cent on synthetic samples and 76.60 per cent on real supernova samples. It significantly outperforms other detection networks, including RT-DETR (+5.6 per cent AP on synthetic/+5.1 per cent AP on real samples) and Cascade R-CNN (+8.9 per cent AP on synthetic/ +28.6 per cent AP on real samples). The incorporation of CycleGAN-based data generation methods plays a significant role in enhancing RT-SNDETR's performance. These methods simulate realistic PSF variations, enabling the object detection network to learn more robust features and improving its generalization to real supernovae data. Additionally, by integrating unsupervised domain adaptation techniques, RT-SNDETR achieves an AP of 81.70 per cent on real SDSS supernova survey samples. Background: In the aftermath of bereavement, our research explores the subtleties of Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD), focusing particularly on its correlation with suicidal behaviors and their variation across genders. This study seeks to elucidate the impact of gender on these behaviors among individuals suffering from PGD, thereby enhancing our understanding and facilitating the development of tailored therapeutic interventions. Methods: By November 24th, 2023, we had rigorously reviewed key databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, and Embase. Independently, two researchers conducted detailed interviews and filled out questionnaires with participants to gather demographic information and record instances of prolonged grief disorder. The study also meticulously tracked occurrences of suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, suicide deaths, and self-injury among the participants. Results: The findings indicate that 22.34% of males reported suicidal ideation (95% CI: 21.33--23.35), a figure that rises to 26.84% among females (95% CI: 25.99--27.69). Notably, 12.11% of males attempted suicide (95% CI: 11.49--12.72), marginally surpassing the 9.60% observed in females (95% CI: 9.17--10.04). More striking disparities were observed in suicide deaths, with rates for males at 3.66% (95% CI: 3.32--4.00) compared to a notably higher 7.12% for females (95% CI: 6.44--7.81). Furthermore, the incidence of self-injury was lower among males, at 2.48% (95% CI: 2.03--2.94), than in females, who reported a rate of 5.09% (95% CI: 4.69--5.49). These patterns underscore the critical need for gender-specific interventions aimed at reducing these significant disparities. Conclusion: This study distinctly underscores the profound impact of gender on the manifestation of suicidal behaviors in individuals afflicted with prolonged grief disorder. It reveals that females are more prone to suicidal ideation, self- injury, and suicide deaths, while males predominantly exhibit a higher incidence of suicide attempts and risk-taking behaviors. These unmediated trends highlight the necessity for gender-specific clinical interventions tailored to address particular behaviors and modify prevalent patterns that typically resist conventional approaches.
