Abstract Background Nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a serious problem in the adolescent population worldwide. Childhood trauma and bullying have been identified as risk factors for NSSI. We explored the relationships among Childhood trauma, Bullying victimization and the severity of NSSI behaviours, and test the effect of Bullying victimization in mediating the association between Childhood trauma and the NSSI behaviours. Methods A total of 123 adolescents were recruited. They were diagnosed with depression or depressive episodes of bipolar disorder and had experienced NSSI in the last year. They were assessed using the Chinese version of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-C), the Revised Olweus Bullying Victimization Questionnaire (OBVQ-R), and the Adolescent Self-Harm Questionnaire (ASHQ). Results Females presented a significantly greater prevalence of sexual abuse and relationship bullying than boys. Individuals in the younger age group (10–14 years) presented a greater incidence of emotional neglect, verbal bullying, relationship bullying, and total bullying, and their NSSI score was also higher than that of those in the older age group (15–19 years). Only children show a greater prevalence of sexual abuse than nononly children. Single-parent families scored higher on emotional abuse, emotional neglect, physical neglect and physical bullying than two-parent families. There was a significant positive correlation between each dimension of childhood trauma and all the dimensions of bullying, between childhood trauma and NSSI, and between bullying and NSSI. Childhood trauma can not only directly affect the severity of NSSI but also indirectly aggravate the severity of NSSI through bullying victimization. The mediating effects of bullying victimization on emotional abuse, physical abuse, emotional neglect and physical neglect were 14%, 21%, 20%, 13% and 20%, respectively. Conclusion There was a significant positive correlation between childhood trauma and bullying, between childhood trauma and NSSI, and between bullying and NSSI. Childhood trauma can not only directly affect the severity of NSSI but also indirectly aggravate the severity of NSSI through bullying victimization. Bullying victimization played the partial mediating effects between Childhood trauma and NSSI.

Abstract Background Acute lung injury (ALI) is a devastating clinical disorder with a high mortality rate, and there is an urgent need for more effective therapies. Fibroblast growth factor 18 (FGF18) has potent anti-inflammatory properties and therefore has become a focus of research for the treatment of lung injury. However, the precise role of FGF18 in the pathological process of ALI and the underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. Methods A mouse model of ALI and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was established in vivo and in vitro. AAV-FGF18 and FGF18 proteins were used in C57BL/6J mice and HUVEC, respectively. Vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and p65 protein levels were determined by western blotting or immunofluorescent staining. Afterward, related inhibitors were used to explore the potential mechanism by which FGF18 relieves inflammation. Results In this study, we found that FGF18 was significantly upregulated in LPS-induced ALI mouse lung tissues and LPS-stimulated HUVECs. Furthermore, our studies demonstrated that overexpressing FGF18 in the lung or HUVEC could significantly alleviate LPS-induced lung injury and inhibit vascular leakage. Conclusions Mechanically, FGF18 treatment dramatically inhibited the NF-κB signaling pathway both in vivo and in vitro. In conclusion, these results indicate that FGF18 attenuates lung injury, at least partially, via the NF-κB signaling pathway and therefore may be a potential therapeutic target for ALI.

System-level fault diagnosis model, namely, the PMC model, detects fault nodes only through the mutual testing of nodes in the system without physical equipment. In order to achieve server nodes fault diagnosis in large-scale data center networks (DCNs), the traditional algorithm based on the PMC model cannot meet the characteristics of high diagnosability, high accuracy and high efficiency due to its inability to ensure that the test nodes are fault-free. This paper first proposed a fault-tolerant Hamiltonian cycle fault diagnosis (FHFD) algorithm, which tests nodes in the order of the Hamiltonian cycle to ensure that the test nodes are faultless. In order to improve testing efficiency, a hierarchical diagnosis mechanism was further proposed, which recursively divides high scale structures into a large number of low scale structures based on the recursive structure characteristics of DCNs. Additionally, we proved that $ 2(n-2){n^{k-1}} $ and $ (n-2){t_{n, k}}/{t_{n, 1}} $ faulty nodes could be detected for $ BCub{e_{n, k}} $ and $ DCel{l_{n, k}} $ within a limited time for the proposed diagnosis strategy. Simulation experiments have also shown that our proposed strategy has improved the diagnosability and test efficiency dramatically.

Abstract Highly stretchable porous materials are promising for flexible electronics but their fabrication is a great challenge. Herein, several kinds of highly stretchable conductive porous elastomers with low or negative Poisson’s ratios are achieved by uniaxial, biaxial, and triaxial hot-pressing strategies. The reduced graphene oxide/polymer nanocomposite elastomers with folded porous structures obtained by uniaxial hot pressing exhibit high stretchability up to 1200% strain. Furthermore, the meta-elastomers with reentrant porous structures combining high biaxial (or triaxial) stretchability and negative Poisson’s ratios are achieved by biaxial (or triaxial) hot pressing. The resulting elastomer-based wearable strain sensors exhibit an ultrawide response range (0-1200%). The materials can be applied for smart thermal management and electromagnetic interference shielding, which are achieved by regulating the porous microstructures via stretching. This work provides a versatile strategy to highly stretchable and negative-Poisson-ratio porous materials with promising features for various applications such as flexible electronics, thermal management, electromagnetic shielding, and energy storage.

Background Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), of which the predisposing factors are complex and diverse, profoundly affects the physical and mental health of young people. Therefore, this work established an NSSI intermediary network model considering the interaction of multiple factors. A mediating effect between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and NSSI, considering the influence of comorbidities, such as depression, anxiety, and impulsive personality, was proposed based on sex differences. Methods A total of 2,689 middle school students in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China, were randomly sampled and participated in this study. Data regarding their demographic characteristics, attention deficit, hyperactivity/impulsivity, NSSI, anxiety, depression, internet addiction, and other comorbid symptoms were collected and analyzed. After initially screening the data, variables were assessed for significance using a single-factor inter-group difference analytic method, and a binary logistic regression analysis was performed. The intermediary effect of factors influencing NSSI in males and females was also analyzed. Results The overall NSSI rate was 15.16%. The results showed that the impact of individual impulsivity characteristics (impulsiveness, the ADHD with hyperactivity/impulsivity subtype) on NSSI behavior was not significant (regression results, P > 0.05). The degree of association between ADHD with attention deficit and ADHD with comprehension deficit subtypes, and other comorbid symptoms (depression, anxiety, and internet addiction disorder) and NSSI, with odds ratios (ORs) of 7.6/6.42/436.68/3.82/1.86, and 95% bootstrap confidence intervals (CIs) of 4.64, 12.87/3.46, 12.67/137.42, 2659.13/2.32, 6.37/1.31, 2.82, respectively. Abstract Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a common complication occurs during hepatic resection and transplantation. However, the mechanisms underlying hepatic IRI have not been fully elucidated. Here, we aim to explore the role of fibroblast growth factor 18 (FGF18) in hepatic IRI. In this work, we find that Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) secrete FGF18 and alleviates hepatocytes injury. HSCs-specific FGF18 deletion largely aggravates hepatic IRI. Mechanistically, FGF18 treatment reduces the levels of ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase 16 (USP16), leading to increased ubiquitination levels of Kelch Like ECH Associated Protein 1 (KEAP1) and the activation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). Furthermore, USP16 interacts and deubiquitinates KEAP1. More importantly, Nrf2 directly binds to the promoter of USP16 and forms a negative feedback loop with USP16. Collectively, our results show FGF18 alleviates hepatic IRI by USP16/KEAP1/Nrf2 signaling pathway in male mice, suggesting that FGF18 represents a promising therapeutic approach for hepatic IRI.

Background: California hare coltivirus (CHCV) was isolated in California in 1976 from a hare. Despite its long history, it remained unclear whether CHCV was exclusively distributed in California with limited host ranges. Main body: By next-generation sequencing (NGS), we obtained a complete sequence of CHCV from Ixodes persulcatus collected in 2019 in northeast China. An expanded epidemiological investigation was subsequently performed on ticks belonging to four species (Ix. persulcatus, Haemaphysalis concinna, Devmacentor silvarum, Haemaphysalis longicornis) collected in northeastern China by applying CHCV-specific RT-PCR and sequencing. CHCV RNA-positive results were found in 1.56% of the tick samples. Positive ticks were obtained in three of four sampled locations, with the highest rate observed in Inner Mongolia (2.69%), followed by Heilongjiang (1.94%) and Jilin provinces (0.55%). All positive results were derived from Ix. persulcatus ticks (2.33%), while no positive detection was found in the other tick species, even at the same location. Sequence analysis revealed that the current CHCV showed a high genetic identity (>80% amino acid identity) with the previously reported CHCV in all segments except segment seven (64.59% amino acid identity). Phylogenetic analysis based on RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) amino acid sequences demonstrated that both the current and previously reported CHCV strains were grouped phylogenetically into the genus Coltivirus. Both CHCV strains formed a distinct clade, clustering with three human pathogenic coltiviruses (Colorado tick fever virus, Salmon River virus, and Eyach virus), and were distant from the other coltiviruses. Conclusions: We report the identification and characterization of CHCV for the first time in Ix. persulcatus ticks, expanding the currently known geographic scope, host, and genetic heterogeneity in CHCV.

Museum exhibition halls are one of the most visually demanding buildings. However, unique lighting methods, luminance contrast, display cabinet reflections lead to complex spatial luminance distribution and intense glare, thus seriously affecting the visual effect. Modeling accurate glare calculations is an effective way to reduce the risk of visual discomfort. In this study, we obtain the real glare perception in the lighting scenes of museum exhibition halls through small-sample evaluation experiments, and then propose an improved model on the basis of testing the accuracy rate of UGR to be 41.67%, which contains key parameters characterizing the effects caused by multiple glares. Then we optimized the coefficients and power indices according to the real glare perception, and verified that the accuracy rate of glare calculation in museum exhibition halls was improved by 36.46% compared with that of UGR, and gave the glare rating corresponding to the calculated value of the model.

To improve the ecological and economic benefits of Korean pine (Pinus koraiensis), we analysed and evaluated its germplasm resources. This promotes in-depth research and utilisation of germplasm resources, providing excellent genetic resources for Korean pine breeding. We performed genetic analysis based on morphological and physiological traits and nuclear SSR molecular marker data was performed by collecting 314 clones (5 ramets of each clone) of Korean pine from eight (8) locations within the Korean pine range. The core collection underwent testing and evaluation for representativeness using variable rate (VR), coincidence rate (CR), variance difference percentage (VD), mean difference percentage (MD), Shannon index (I), and other indicators. The results indicated significant differences in morphological and physiological traits among the populations. All traits had a coefficient of variation (CV) greater than 10%, except for the water content of the needles (WC), which had an average CV of 17.636%. The populations showed high overall genetic diversity, with the HL (Helong) population exhibiting the highest genetic diversity, with an Ne (number of effective alleles), I, and He (expected heterozygosity) of 3.171, 1.103, and 0.528, respectively. Genetic variation mainly originated from individuals within populations, while the variation between populations was relatively small, at only 3%. The population did not exhibit any distinct subpopulation structures and was mainly derived from two admixed gene pools. Six core sets were obtained using different sampling strategies, and subset 6 was identified as the core collection, consisting of 114 individuals, representing a selection rate of 36.31%. In conclusion, the most appropriate method for constructing the core collection of Korean pines is the M-strategy (maximizing the number of alleles), based on both phenotypic and molecular data. The resulting core collection effectively represents the genetic diversity of the entire population effectively.

The role of enhancer de-regulation in anti-tumor immunity remains to be explored. Here, the authors suggest that ablation of MLL3 and MLL4, two enhancer-associated H3K4 monomethyltransferases, increases tumor immunogenicity and promotes anti-tumor T cell response.

Mudanjiang phlebovirus (MJPV) is a newly discovered phlebovirus, initially detected from Ixodes persulcatus ticks in China in 2022. In this study, by next-generation sequencing (NGS) on a wide variety of ticks and wild small animals in China, we detected MJPV from I. persulcatus and Meriones meridianus. Additionally, we conducted RT-PCR and sequencing on 1815 adult ticks and 805 wild small mammals collected from eight provinces in China between 2017 and 2021. MJPV RNA-positive results were found in 0.22% (4/1815) of tick samples, as well as in 0.12% (1/805) of rodent samples. All positive detections were obtained from Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. Sequencing analysis revealed nucleotide similarities ranging from 98.23% to 99.11%, as well as amino acid similarities ranging from 99.12% to100%, between the current MJPV strain and previously reported strains of MJPV. Phylogenetic tree analysis demonstrated that the previously reported MJPV strain along with our two variants clustered together with other tick-borne phenuiviruses, indicating their close relationship within this viral group. This study represents the first detection of MJPV infection in wild rodents, expanding the known host range for this virus in the endemic regions.

Calcium signaling is required in bodily functions essential for survival, such as muscle contractions and neuronal communications. Of note, the voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) expressed on muscle and neuronal cells, as well as some endocrine cells, are transmembrane protein complexes that allow for the selective entry of calcium ions into the cells. The α1 subunit constitutes the main pore-forming subunit that opens in response to membrane depolarization, and its biophysical functions are regulated by various auxiliary subunits–β, α2δ, and γ subunits. Within the cardiovascular system, the γ-subunit is not expressed and is therefore not discussed in this review. Because the α1 subunit is the pore-forming subunit, it is a prominent druggable target and the focus of many studies investigating potential therapeutic interventions for cardiovascular diseases. While this may be true, it should be noted that the direct inhibition of the α1 subunit may result in limited long-term cardiovascular benefits coupled with undesirable side effects, and that its expression and biophysical properties may depend largely on its auxiliary subunits. Indeed, the α2δ subunit has been reported to be essential for the membrane trafficking and expression of the α1 subunit. Furthermore, the β subunit not only prevents proteasomal degradation of the α1 subunit, but also directly modulates the biophysical properties of the α1 subunit, such as its voltage-dependent activities and open probabilities. More importantly, various isoforms of the β subunit have been found to differentially modulate the α1 subunit, and post-translational modifications of the β subunits further add to this complexity. These data suggest the possibility of the β subunit as a therapeutic target in cardiovascular diseases. However, emerging studies have reported the presence of cardiomyocyte membrane α1 subunit trafficking and expression in a β subunit-independent manner, which would undermine the efficacy of β subunit-targeting drugs. Nevertheless, a better understanding of the auxiliary β subunit would provide a more holistic approach when targeting the calcium channel complexes in treating cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, this review focuses on the post-translational modifications of the β subunit, as well as its role as an auxiliary subunit in modulating the calcium channel complexes.

Abstract Background The left ventricular noncompaction cardiomyopathy (LVNC) is a rare subtype of cardiomyopathy associated with a high risk of heart failure (HF), thromboembolism, arrhythmia, and sudden cardiac death. Methods The proband with overlap phenotypes of LVNC and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) complicates atrial fibrillation (AF), ventricular tachycardia (VT), and HF due to the diffuse myocardial lesion, which were diagnosed by electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. Peripheral blood was collected from the proband and his relatives. DNA was extracted from the peripheral blood of proband for high-throughput target capture sequencing. The Sanger sequence verified the variants. The protein was extracted from the skin of the proband and healthy volunteer. The expression difference of desmocollin2 was detected by Western blot. Results The novel heterozygous truncated mutation (p.K47Rfs*2) of the DSC2 gene encoding an important component of desmosomes was detected by targeted capture sequencing. The western blots showed that the expressing level of functional desmocollin2 protein (~ 94kd) was lower in the proband than that in the healthy volunteer, indicating that DSC2 p.K47Rfs*2 obviously reduced the functional desmocollin2 protein expression in the proband. Conclusion The heterozygous DSC2 p.K47Rfs*2 remarkably and abnormally reduced the functional desmocollin2 expression, which may potentially induce the overlap phenotypes of LVNC and HCM, complicating AF, VT, and HF.

Background Nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) behaviors—an important factor that profoundly affects the physical and mental health of young people—are induced by complex and diverse factors, while showing significant differences at the gender level. We examined mediating behaviors among parenting styles, students’ coping styles, and endogenous and exogenous influencing variables of adolescents’ NSSI behaviors. Methods In this cross-sectional study, Secondary school students in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China (n = 2,689; F/M:1532/1157) were surveyed for basic attributes, parenting styles, coping styles, and NSSI behaviors. After the initial screening of the sample data, several external derivatives were screened based on the single factor analysis method. On this basis, the construction of path analysis models under multivariate multiple elicitations was carried out. Results The overall prevalence of NSSI was 15.16%, and the incidence of NSSI in boys was lower than that in girls (OR = 0.334, 95% CI [0.235–0.474]). The path analysis model data fit well; the indicators of female and male part are: CFI = 0.913/0.923, GFI = 0.964/0.977, SRMR = 0.055/0.047, RMSEA = 0.097/0.069 with 90% confidence interval (CI) [0.084–0.111]/[0.054–0.084]. For female, when negative coping style and extreme education affect NSSI respectively, the standardized path coefficient values are 0.478 (z = 20.636, P = 0.000 < 0.01) and 0.151 (z = 6.524, P = 0.000 < 0.01) respectively, while for male, the corresponding values become 0.225 (z = 7.057, P < 0.001) and 0.104 (z = 3.262, P < 0.001). Conclusion In particular, we investigated the mediating effects of gender-specific NSSI influences and found that NSSI behaviors were strongly associated with environmental variables and individual factors, especially family parenting style and adolescent coping style, which influenced NSSI in a gender-specific manner. The results showed that males were the target of both positive and negative parenting styles, whereas females were more likely to choose negative coping styles directed towards emotions in response to external stimuli, and instead showed a more significant predisposition towards NSSI behaviors. This phenomenon seems to be influenced by multilevel factors such as sociocultural, individual value identity, and physiological structure differences. In the path analysis model with the introduction of mediating effects, the influence of gender differences on NSSI behavior becomes more pronounced under the interaction of multiple factors: women seem to be more significantly influenced by the external derivatives in the internal derivatives than male subjects, and are more likely to trigger NSSI behavior under the interaction of multiple factors. These findings effectively reveal the significant role of different end-influencing factors in NSSI behaviors at the level of gender differences, which can provide effective theoretical support to prevent and treat NSSI behaviors in adolescents.

Abstract Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a highly prevalent and disabling disorder. Despite the many hypotheses proposed to understand the molecular pathophysiology of depression, it is still unclear. Current treatments for depression are inadequate for many individuals, because of limited effectiveness, delayed efficacy (usually two weeks), and side effects. Consequently, novel drugs with increased speed of action and effectiveness are required. Ketamine has shown to have rapid, reliable, and long‐lasting antidepressant effects in treatment‐resistant MDD patients and represent a breakthrough therapy for patients with MDD; however, concerns regarding its efficacy, potential misuse, and side effects remain. In this review, we aimed to summarize molecular mechanisms and pharmacological treatments for depression. We focused on the fast antidepressant treatment and clarified the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of ketamine and its metabolites for the MDD treatment, along with a review of the potential pharmacological mechanisms, research challenges, and future clinical prospects.

Different types of buildings in different climate zones have their own design specifications and specific user populations. Generally speaking, these populations have similar sensory feedbacks in their perception of environmental thermal comfort. Existing thermal comfort models do not incorporate personal thermal comfort models for specific populations. In terms of an algorithm, the existing work constructs machine learning models based on an established human thermal comfort database with variables such as indoor temperature, clothing insulation, et al., and has achieved satisfactory classification results. More importantly, such thermal comfort models often lack scientific interpretability. Therefore, this study selected a specific population as the research object, adopted the 0-order Takagi–Sugeno–Kang (TSK) fuzzy classifier as the base training unit, and constructed a shared feature-guided new TSK fuzzy classification algorithm with extra feature compensation (SFG-TFC) to explore the perception features of the population in the thermal environment of buildings and to improve the classification performance and interpretability of the model. First, the shared features of subdatasets collected in different time periods were extracted. Second, the extra features of each subdataset were independently trained, and the rule outputs corresponding to the key shared features were reprojected into the corresponding fuzzy classifiers. This strategy not only highlights the guiding role of shared features but also considers the important compensation effect of extra features; thereby, improving the classification performance of the entire classification model. Finally, the least learning machine (LLM) was used to solve the parameters of the “then” part of each basic training unit, and these output weights were integrated to enhance the generalization performance of the model. The experimental results demonstrate that SFG-TFC has better classification performance and interpretability than the classic nonfuzzy algorithms support vector machine (SVM) and deep belief network (DBN), the 0-order TSK, and the multilevel optimization and fuzzy approximation algorithm QI-TSK.

While the efficiency of quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs) has been long limited by photogenerated electron extraction of photoanode, we propose here an alternative approach for boosting the light harvesting efficiency of QDSSCs, which is based on the modifications of the TiO2 photoanode absorbance and impedance by irradiating crystalline TiO2 nanoparticles with intense femtosecond laser pulses propagating in the filamentation regime. We demonstrate that a two-fold enhancement of the power conversion efficiency in CdSe/CdS-cosensitized solar cells is unambiguously achieved with the produced “black” TiO2 nanoparticles as photoanode, which allows for the light absorption in the spectral range of 240-2500 nm and enables possible facilitation of electron transport. Our results offer a viable route to boosting QDSSCs efficiency that is normally realized by optimizing the photoanode material morphology and structure as well as quantum dot species in QDSSCs.

Impaired cognitive flexibility has been repeatedly demonstrated in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). There is strong evidence for genetic involvement in ASD. First-degree relatives of individuals with ASD may show mild deficits in cognitive inflexibility. The present study investigated cognitive flexibility and its neuroelectrophysiological mechanisms in first-degree relatives of individuals with ASD to assess its potential familiality. Forty-five biological parents of individuals/children with ASD (pASD) and thirty-one biological parents of typically developing individuals/children (pTD), matched by gender, age, and IQ, were enrolled. The broad autism phenotype questionnaire (BAPQ) and cognitive flexibility inventory (CFI) were used to quantitatively assess autistic traits and cognitive flexibility in daily life, respectively. The task-switching paradigm was used to evaluate the behavioral flexibility in a structured assessment situation. Event-related potentials (ERPs) induced by this paradigm were also collected. Results showed that compared with the pTD group, the pASD group had lower CFI scores (t = −2.756, p < 0.01), while both groups showed an equivalent “switch cost” in the task-switching task (p > 0.05). Compared with the pTD group, the pASD group induced greater N2 amplitude at F3, F4, Fz, and C4 (F = 3.223, p < 0.05), while P3 amplitude and latency did not differ between the two groups. In addition, there was a significant negative correlation between the CFI total scores and BAPQ total scores in the pASD group (r = −0.734, p < 0.01). After controlling for age and IQ, the N2 amplitude in the frontal lobe of pASD was negatively correlated with the CFI total scores under the repetition sequence (r = −0.304, p = 0.053). These results indicated that pASD had deficit in cognitive flexibility at the self-reported and neurological levels. The cognitive flexibility difficulties of parents of children with ASD were related to autistic traits. These findings support that cognitive flexibility is most likely a neurocognitive endophenotype of ASD, which is worthy of further investigation.

J paramyxovirus (JPV) is a rodent-borne Jeilongvirus isolated from moribund mice (Mus musculus) with hemorrhagic lung lesions trapped in the 1972 in northern Queensland, Australia. The JPV antibodies have been detected in wild mice, wild rats, pigs, and human populations in Australia. Here, by next-generation sequencing (NGS), we detected JPV from M. musculus in Shandong Province of China. Molecular detection of JPV was performed to survey to survey the infection among 66 species of wild small mammals collected from six eco-climate regions in China by applying JPV specific RT-PCR and sequencing. Altogether, 21 out of 3070 (0.68%) wild small mammals of four species were positive for JPV, including 5.26% (1/19) of Microtus fortis, 3.76% (17/452) of M. musculus, 1.67% (1/60) of Apodemus peninsulae, and 0.48% (2/421) of Apodemus agrarius, which captured three eco-climate regions of China (northeastern China, northern China, and Inner Mongolia-Xinjiang). Sequence analysis revealed the currently identified JPV was clustered with other 14 Jeilongvirus members, and shared 80.2% and 89.2% identity with Australia’s JPV partial RNA polymerase (L) and glycoprotein (G) genes, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated the separation of three lineages of the current JPV sequences. Our results show three new hosts (A. agrarius, A. peninsulae, and M. fortis) for JPV, most of which were widely distributed in China, and highlight the potential zoonotic transmission of JPV in humans. The detection of JPV in wild small mammals in China broaden the viral diversity, geographical distribution, and reservoir types of JPV. Future studies should prioritize determining the epidemiological characteristics of JPV, so that potential risks can be mitigated.

Quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSSC) have been regarded as one of the most promising candidates for effective utilization of solar energy, but its power conversion efficiency (PCE) is still far from meeting expectations. One of the most important bottlenecks is the limited collection efficiency of photogenerated electrons in the photoanodes. Herein, we design QDSSCs with a dual-photoanode architecture, and assemble the dual photoanodes with black TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs), which were processed by a femtosecond laser in the filamentation regime, and common CdS/CdSe QD sensitizers. A maximum PCE of 11.7% with a short circuit current density of 50.3 mA/cm2 is unambiguously achieved. We reveal both experimentally and theoretically that the enhanced PCE is mainly attributed to the improved light harvesting of black TiO2 due to the black TiO2 shells formed on white TiO2 NPs.

The personal thermal comfort model is used to design and control the thermal environment and predict the thermal comfort responses of individuals rather than reflect the average response of the population. Previous individual thermal comfort models were mainly focused on a single material environment. However, the channels for individual thermal comfort were various in real life. Therefore, a new personal thermal comfort evaluation method is constructed by means of a reliable decision-based fuzzy classification model from two views. In this study, a two-view thermal comfort fuzzy classification model was constructed using the interpretable zero-order Takagi–Sugeno–Kang (TSK) fuzzy classifier as the basic training subblock, and it is the first time an optimized machine learning algorithm to study the interpretable thermal comfort model is used. The relevant information (including basic information, sampling conditions, physiological parameters, physical environment, environmental perception, and self-assessment parameters) was obtained from 157 subjects in experimental chambers with two different materials. This proposed method has the following features: (1) The training samples in the input layer contain the feature data under experimental conditions with two different materials. The training models constructed from the training samples under these two conditions complement and restrict each other and improve the accuracy of the whole model training. (2) In the rule layer of the training unit, interpretable fuzzy rules are designed to solve the existing layers with the design of short rules. The output of the intermediate layer of the fuzzy classifier and the fuzzy rules are difficult to explain, which is problematic. (3) Better decision-making knowledge information is obtained in both the rule layer of the single-view training model and in the two-view fusion model. In addition, the feature mapping space is generated according to the degree of contribution of the decision-making information from the two single training views, which not only preserves the feature information of the source training samples to a large extent but also improves the training accuracy of the model and enhances the generalization performance of the training model. Experimental results indicated that TMV-TSK-FC has better classification performance and generalization performance than several related state-of-the-art non-fuzzy classifiers applied in this study. Significantly, compared with the single view fuzzy classifier, the training accuracies and testing accuracies of TMV-TSK-FC are improved by 3–11% and 2–9%, respectively. In addition, the experimental results also showed good semantic interpretability of TMV-TSK-FC.

Abstract Background We examined the genetic background of a Chinese Han family in which some members presented with complex arrhythmias including sick sinus syndrome, progressive conduction block, atrial fibrillation, atrial standstill and Brugada syndrome. The possible underlying mechanism associated with the genetic mutation was explored. Methods Targeted capture sequencing was conducted in the probands in the coding and splicing regions of genes implicated in inherited arrhythmias. Stable cell lines overexpressing wild type (WT) or mutant SCN5A were generated in HEK293T cells. Whole‐cell recording was performed to evaluate the functional changes in sodium channels. Results The rare heterozygous linkage mutations, SCN5A R965C and R1309H, were found in these patients with complex familial arrhythmias. Compared to WT, R965C or R1309H, the peak current of sodium channel was dramatically reduced in HEK293T cell with linkage R965C‐R1309H mutation when testing potentials ranging from −45 to 15 mV. Notably, the maximum peak current of sodium channels with R1309H and linkage R965C‐R1309H displayed significant decreases of 31.5% and 73.34%, respectively, compared to WT. Additionally, compared to R965C or R1309H alone, the linkage mutation R965C‐R1309H demonstrated not only a more obvious depolarisation‐shifted activation and hyperpolarisation‐shifted inactivation, but also a more significant alteration in the time constant, V1/2 and the slope factor of activation and inactivation. Conclusions The linkage mutation SCN5A R965C‐R1309H led to a more dramatically reduced current density, as well as more significant depolarisation‐shifted activation and hyperpolarisation‐shifted inactivation in sodium channels than R965C or R1309H alone, which potentially explain this complex familial arrhythmia syndrome.

Background: Emergence agitation (EA) is one of the most common and intractable postoperative complications among children undergoing surgery under general anesthesia. Dexmedetomidine, an α(2)-adrenoceptor agonist, offers an ideal sedation, reduces preoperative anxiety, and facilitates smooth induction of anesthesia, and it is widely used in pediatric surgery. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of dexmedetomidine for preventing emergence agitation in children after general anesthesia.Methods: We comprehensively reviewed PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases to search all randomized controlled trials, published before April 22, 2020, investigating the efficacy of dexmedetomidine in preventing the emergence agitation in children after general anesthesia. The meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.3. The primary outcome was the incidence of emergence agitation. Secondary outcomes included the number of patients requiring rescue analgesic, number of patients with postoperative nausea and vomiting, emergence time, extubation time, and time to discharge from the post-anesthesia care unit.Results: We included a total of 33 studies, comprising 2,549 patients in this meta-analysis. Compared with saline, dexmedetomidine significantly reduced the emergence agitation incidence [risk ratio (RR) 0.29; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.22–0.37; p < 0.00001], incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (RR 0.46; 95% CI 0.3–0.69; p = 0.0002), and the requirement of rescue analgesic (RR 0.29; 95% CI 0.18–0.44; p < 0.00001). Furthermore, children in the dexmedetomidine group experienced a longer emergence time [mean difference (MD) 2.18; 95% CI 0.81–3.56; p = 0.002] and extubation time (MD 0.77; 95% CI 0.22–1.31; p = 0.006) compared with those in the saline group. However, no significant difference was observed in the time to discharge from the post-anesthesia care unit (MD 2.22; 95% CI −2.29–6.74; p = 0.33) between the two groups. No significant differences were observed between the effects of dexmedetomidine and other drugs like midazolam, propofol, fentanyl, tramadol, and clonidine in terms of the emergence agitation incidence and other parameters, except for the requirement of rescue analgesic (RR 0.45; 95% CI 0.33–0.61; p < 0.00001).Conclusions: Dexmedetomidine can prevent emergence agitation, relieves postoperative pain, decreases the requirement of rescue analgesic, and decreases the postoperative nausea and vomiting events.

Data analysis has wide applications in eliminating the irrelevant and redundant components in signals to reveal the important informational characteristics that are required. Conventional methods for multi-dimensional data analysis via the decomposition of time and frequency information that ignore the information in signal space include independent component analysis (ICA) and principal component analysis (PCA). We propose the processing of a signal according to the continuous wavelet transform and the construction of a three-dimensional matrix containing the time–frequency–space information of the signal. The dimensions of the three-dimensional matrix are reduced by parallel factor analysis, and the time characteristic matrix, frequency characteristic matrix, and spatial characteristic matrix are obtained with tensor decomposition. Through the comparative analysis of the simulation and the experiment, the time characteristic matrix and the frequency characteristic matrix can accurately characterize the normal and fault states of the mechanical equipment. On this basis, the authors established a probabilistic neural network classification model optimized by the improved particle swarm algorithm (IPSO). The parallel factor (PARAFAC) decomposition algorithm can extract features from the centrifugal pump experimental data for normal and multiple fault states, establish the mapping relationship of different fault features of the centrifugal pump in time, frequency, and space, and import the fault features into the model classification. The above measures can significantly improve the fault identification rate and accuracy for a centrifugal pump.

Drag reduction by injecting air is a promising engineering method for improving ship performance. A novel automatic air intake drag reduction strut structure based on the Venturi effect is proposed for the high-speed small water-plane area twin hull vessels in the present study. The drag reduction strut can achieve the function of automatic air intake when the vehicle is moving at high speed, and the air inhaled and the incoming flow form bubbly flows to cover the strut surface, effectively reducing the drag of the strut. Considering the longitudinal symmetry of the strut structure, a two-dimensional single-chip drag reduction strut structure is designed to facilitate analysis and a solution. The volume of fluid model is combined with the k-ω SST turbulence model, and a numerical simulation is carried out to investigate the variation of the air inflow, the air volume fraction in the bubbly flows of the strut and the drag reduction rate of the strut for different sailing speeds. The analysis result shows that when the proposed model reaches a certain speed, the external air is inhaled by the strut intake duct, and the bubbly flows are formed with the incoming flow covering the surface of the strut, thereby reducing the drag coefficient. Meanwhile, it is found that as the sailing speed increases, the drag reduction rate of the strut gradually rises and its maximum value reaches about 30%. For high sailing speeds, the drag reduction rate is affected by wave-making resistance so that it gradually declines.

Abstract Background Inadequate sleep quantity and quality is a public health concern with an array of detrimental health outcomes. Portable technological devices have become a ubiquitous part of adolescents’ lives and may affect their sleep duration and quality. The purpose of this study was to summarize published analyses of various technology uses and sleep outcomes and to examine whether there is an association between excessive technology use (ETU) and poor sleep outcomes in adolescents. Method We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis. Pubmed, Embase, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library were used. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were performed. Only original research papers published from 1999 to 2018 and offcially reviewed by peers were included for analysis. We used the Review Manager 5.3 software for statistical analysis. Results Nineteen studies were included, and their quality was assessed. These studies involved 253,904 adolescents (mean [SD] age, 14.82 [0.83] years; 51.1% male). Four kinds of feet with typical structures, referred to as the hemispherical foot, the semicylindrical foot, the rectangular foot and the circular foot, respectively, were designed and manufactured to study the foot–terrain interaction mechanics for legged robots. Three kinds of quartz sand were selected to study how particle size, shape and compactness affected the physical properties of the substrate and the intrusion performance of mechanical feet. The media with smaller particle sizes had higher bulk densities and lower angles of stability, but no obvious rule was found for particle shapes of quartz sand with different sizes. The intrusion resistive forces and pressures of the hemispherical foot on these three kinds of quartz sand were all less compared with the other three mechanical feet. The particle disturbance areas and motion trends were compared under these four kinds of mechanical feet using discrete element method simulations. The intrusion resistive forces of these mechanical feet first increased and then decreased with the increasing particle sizes of the quartz sand. Moreover, the intrusion resistive forces of these mechanical feet on spherical particles were smaller compared with irregular particles. The corresponding resistive forces of the mechanical feet were characterized based on the compactness of the quartz sand. According to the intrusion test data, the classic pressure–sinkage model was modified, and the relationships between intrusion resistive force and mechanical foot depth were obtained.

Fat embolism is a dreaded complication in of procedures of multiple disciplines including plastic surgery. As the popularity of liposuction increases, cases of pulmonary embolism after liposuction are increasingly reported. However, documents of cerebral embolism after liposuction are rarely presented. The degree of disability with respect to Fat fat Embolism embolism Symdrome syndrome (FES) is a Gordian Knot in the evaluation of legal medicine. Therefore, it is of great significance for us to that we report the case of a 30-year-old woman who underwent a large-volume liposuction that resulted in serious complications, especially cerebral embolism. Untypical symptoms of fat embolism hamper the clinical diagnosis, particularly after a surgical procedure such as liposuction. Such a seldom-seen case would easily trigger medical disputes, especially in countries like China suffering increasing claims of medical malpractice and, medical negligences and lawsuits. Detailed descriptions of this case are presented below along with the discussion of the clinical symptoms and the diagnostic approaches to fat embolism.

L-type CaV1.2 calcium channels are the major pathway for Ca2+ influx to initiate the contraction of smooth and cardiac muscles. Alteration of CaV1.2 channel function has been implicated in multiple cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension and cardiac hypertrophy. Alternative splicing is a post-transcriptional mechanism that expands CaV1.2 channel structures to modify function, pharmacological and biophysical property such as calcium/voltage-dependent inactivation (C/VDI), or to influence its post-translational modulation by interacting proteins such as Galectin-1. Alternative splicing has generated functionally diverse CaV1.2 isoforms that can be developmentally regulated in the heart, or under pathophysiological conditions such as in heart failure. More importantly, alternative splicing of certain exons of CaV1.2 has been reported to be regulated by splicing factors such as RNA-binding Fox-1 homolog 1/2 (Rbfox 1/2), polypyrimidine tract-binding protein (PTBP1) and RNA-binding motif protein 20 (RBM20). Understanding how CaV1.2 channel function is remodelled in disease will provide better information to guide the development of more targeted approaches to discover therapeutic agents for cardiovascular diseases.

Compressed sensing (CS) based methods have recently been used to reconstruct magnetic resonance (MR) images from undersampled measurements, which is known as CS-MRI. In traditional CS-MRI, wavelet transform can hardly capture the information of image curves and edges. In this paper, we present a new CS-MRI reconstruction algorithm based on contourlet transform and alternating direction method (ADM). The MR images are firstly represented by contourlet transform, which can describe the images’ curves and edges fully and accurately. Then the MR images are reconstructed by ADM, which is an effective CS reconstruction method. Numerical results validate the superior performance of the proposed algorithm in terms of reconstruction accuracy and computation time.

In China, caregivers for family members with schizophrenia play an important role in treatment and recovery but may experience stigma and discrimination simply because of their family relationship. The object of this study was to measure the degrees and correlates of stigma and discrimination experiences among this group. Four hundred twenty-seven caregivers participated in this hospital-based and cross-sectional study in Ningbo and Guangzhou, China. Data were collected by trained interviewers using fixed questionnaires. Stigma and discrimination experiences were measured by the Modified Consumer Experiences of Stigma Questionnaire (MCESQ). Caregivers' social support was measured by the Social Support Rating Scale. Parametric analysis, nonparametric analysis and multivariate linear regression were used. The mean (SD) score of MCESQ was 2.44(0.45), 2.91(0.71) for stigma experiences and 1.97(0.37) for discrimination experiences on a five-point score ("1 = never" and "5 = very often"). Approximately 65% of caregivers reported that they tried to conceal their family members' illness, and 71% lacked the support of friends. The experience of stigma was significantly negatively associated with the perceived social support of caregivers (standard β = -0.2,p
