Abstract The frontier molecular orbitals of organic semiconductor materials play a crucial role in the performance of photoelectric devices, including organic photovoltaics (OPVs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and organic photodetectors (OPDs). In this work, a model for predicting frontier molecular orbital of organic materials, including HOMO and LUMO levels, is established with the extreme gradient boosting algorithm and Klekota-Roth fingerprints. The correlation coefficients of HOMO or LUMO energy levels in the testing set are 0.75 and 0.84 in the transfer model from 11,626 DFT data in Harvard Energy database to 1198 experimental data in literature. The difference between the ML predicted value and the experimental value is smaller than the difference between ML prediction and DFT calculation, always less than 10%. Moreover, based on correlation and SHAP interpretability analysis, 13 key structural fragments influencing energy levels are selected to further verify the effective regulation of the frontier molecular orbital by the key structural fragments in practical applications. Considering the completely opposite regulatory functions of key structural fragments on HOMO and LUMO energy levels, four new Y6 derivatives, Y-PCP, Y-P6F, Y-PCF, and Y-P4FC, are designed to flexibly modify the HOMO and LUMO energy levels. The prediction trends of ML align closely with the computational trends from DFT. It is worth noting that the accuracy of LUMO energy level prediction by the prediction model makes up for the instability of DFT calculation on LUMO energy level. This work offers a cost-effective method to accelerate the acquisition of electronic properties of organic materials.

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subtype of breast cancer characterized by poor prognosis due to the absence of effective targeted therapies. Emerging evidence indicates that the gut microbiota and its metabolites play a key role in the occurrence and development of TNBC. This study aimed to explore the metabolic changes and potential mechanisms associated with TNBC. Objectives: This study aimed to explore the potential relationship between targeted metabolites and the gut microbiota in TNBC. Design: We recruited 8 participants, including 4 with TNBC and 4 with benign fibroadenomas as controls. Methods: The gut microbiota was analyzed using metagenomics on fecal samples. Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was employed to identify differential metabolites in serum and fecal samples. The correlation between the gut microbiota and metabolites was analyzed using Spearman’s correlation analysis. Results: Analysis of altered serum metabolites in the TNBC group revealed changes, particularly in carboxylic acids and derivatives, benzene, and substituted derivatives. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) metabolic pathway analysis revealed significant enrichment in 18 pathways. Regarding fecal metabolites, differences between the 2 groups also included carboxylic acids and derivatives, benzene, and substituted derivatives, with 28 metabolic pathways enriched based on KEGG pathway analysis. Metagenomics analysis showed differences in the relative abundance of Anaerococcus , Fischerella , and Schizosaccharomyces at the genus level, which have been previously associated with breast cancer. Furthermore, 4 serum metabolites—L-glutamine, citrate, creatinine, and creatine—along with 9 fecal metabolites, were associated with the aforementioned microbiota. Conclusion: Our findings highlight distinct metabolite profiles in the serum and feces of patients with TNBC. The identification of gut microbiota and their associated metabolites provides new insights into the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying TNBC.

The resistance of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has increased in recent years, prompting a trend in the research and development of new drugs. In our study, three derivatives (JF-1, JF-2, and JF-3) were synthesized using 6-gingerol as the main component, while JF-4, containing both 6-gingerol and 6-shogaol as the main components, was extracted from dried ginger. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs), determined using the ratio dilution method, were 80 μg/mL for JF-1, 40 μg/mL for JF-2, 30 μg/mL for JF-3, 40 μg/mL for JF-4, 60 μg/mL for 6-gingerol standard (SS), and 0.03 μg/mL for amoxicillin (AMX). After treating H. pylori-infected mice, the inflammation of the gastric mucosa was suppressed. The eradication rate of H. pylori was 16.7% of JF-3 low-dose treatment (LDT), 25.0% of JF-3 high-dose treatment (HDT), 16.7% of JF-4 LDT, 16.7% of JF-4 HDT, 30% of SS LDT, 50% of SS HDT, and 36.4% of the positive control group (PCG). The levels of gastrin, somatostatin (SST), IFN-γ, IL-4, and IL-8 were significantly recovered in the JF-3 and JF-4 administration groups, but the effect was stronger in the high-dose group. These results demonstrate that 6-gingerol and its derivatives have significant anti-Helicobacter pylori effects and are promising potential treatments for H. pylori infection.

The preparation parameters of PM6:Y6 non-fullerene organic solar cells (OSCs) have significant influence on the power conversion efficiency (PCE). Herein, machine learning (ML) models are applied for analyzing the quantitative effects of the PCE on PM6:Y6 non-fullerene OSCs from the perspective of fabrication parameters. Random Forest (RF) model has the best evaluation performance and is considered as the best model among the six different algorithms. The Pearson correlation coefficient, coefficient of determination, root mean square error, mean absolute error, and mean absolute percentage error of the test set in the RF model are 0.836, 0.668, 0.695, 0.538, and 0.035, respectively. In addition, the most important preparation parameters for PCE are the effective area of OSCs, type of solvent and solvent additives, spin-coating speed, total concentration, annealing temperature, annealing time from SHAP analysis. The optimized PCE can be obtained in PM6:Y6 non-fullerene OSCs when the effective area is between 4 and 6 mm2, the spin-coating speed is 3000 rpm, and the total concentration is 18 mg ml−1, respectively. The contour map further reflects that the optimal annealing temperature are 80 or 105 °C, and the corresponding annealing time are 5 or 9 min, respectively. Based on the above preparation conditions, we verified through the experimental design that the optimal PCE is 16.91%, and the relative error with the ML prediction is only 1.24%. Our research provides low time and cost guidance on preparation parameter matching for the development of high-performance the PM6:Y6 non-fullerene OSCs.

Abstract This paper studies data‐driven distributed fault diagnosis for large‐scale systems using sensor networks. To be specific, a distributed fault detection scheme based on correlation analysis is first proposed to improve the fault detection performance by minimizing the impact of noise‐induced uncertainty. The core of the method is to implement the correlation of the coupled nodes to reduce the covariance of the residual signal in a distributed manner. Then, a fault localization approach is developed to locate the fault by measuring and comparing the degree of abnormality. A case study on Tennessee Eastman process is given in the end to demonstrate the proposed approach.

BackgroundFrom the end of 2019 to December 2023, the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic. The scope and ultimate repercussions of the pandemic on global health and well-being remained uncertain, ushering in a wave of fear, anxiety, and worry. This resulted in many individuals succumbing to fear and despair. Acupoint massage emerged as a safe and effective alternative therapy for anxiety relief. However, its efficacy was yet to be extensively backed by evidence-based medicine. This study aimed to enhance the clinical effectiveness of acupoint massage and extend its benefits to a wider population. It undertakes a systematic review of the existing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the impact of acupoint massage on anxiety treatment, discussing its potential benefits and implications. This research aims to furnish robust evidence supporting anxiety treatment strategies for patients afflicted with COVID-19 disease and spark new approaches to anxiety management.ObjectivesThis study evaluates the evidence derived from randomised controlled trials (RCTs), quantifies the impact of acupressure on anxiety manifestations within the general population, and proposes viable supplementary intervention strategies for managing COVID-19 related anxiety.Materials and methodsThis review included RCTs published between February 2014 and July 2023, that compared the effects of acupressure with sham control in alleviating anxiety symptomatology as the outcome measure. The studies were sourced from the multiple databases, including CINAHL, EBM Reviews, Embase, Medline, PsycINFO, Scopus and Web of Science. A meta-analysis was performed on the eligible studies, and an overall effect size was computed specifically for the anxiety outcome. The Cochrane Collaboration Bias Risk Assessment Tool (RevMan V5.4) was employed to assess bias risk, data integration, meta-analysis, and subgroup analysis. The mean difference, standard mean deviation, and binary data were used to represent continuous outcomes.ResultsOf 1,110 studies of potential relevance, 39 met the criteria for inclusion in the meta-analysis. The majority of the studies reported a positive effect of acupressure in assuaging anticipatory anxiety about treatment. Eighteen studies were evaluated using the STAI scale. The acupressure procedures were thoroughly documented, and studies exhibited a low risk of bias. Fire-detection technology plays a critical role in ensuring public safety and facilitating the development of smart cities. Early fire detection is imperative to mitigate potential hazards and minimize associated losses. However, existing vision-based fire-detection methods exhibit limited generalizability and fail to adequately consider the effect of fire object size on detection accuracy. To address this issue, in this study a decoder-free fully transformer-based (DFFT) detector is used to achieve early smoke and flame detection, improving the detection performance for fires of different sizes. This method effectively captures multi-level and multi-scale fire features with rich semantic information while using two powerful encoders to maintain the accuracy of the single-feature map prediction. First, data augmentation is performed to enhance the generalizability of the model. Second, the detection-oriented transformer (DOT) backbone network is treated as a single-layer fire-feature extractor to obtain fire-related features on four scales, which are then fed into an encoder-only single-layer dense prediction module. Finally, the prediction module aggregates the multi-scale fire features into a single feature map using a scale-aggregated encoder (SAE). The prediction module then aligns the classification and regression features using a task-aligned encoder (TAE) to ensure the semantic interaction of the classification and regression predictions. Experimental results on one private dataset and one public dataset demonstrate that the adopted DFFT possesses high detection accuracy and a strong generalizability for fires of different sizes, particularly early small fires. The DFFT achieved mean average precision (mAP) values of 87.40% and 81.12% for the two datasets, outperforming other baseline models. It exhibits a better detection performance on flame objects than on smoke objects because of the prominence of flame features.

In this article, a new hydraulic semi-active knee (HSAK) prosthesis is proposed. Compared with knee prostheses driven by hydraulic-mechanical coupling or electromechanical systems, we novelly combine independent active and passive hydraulic subsystems to solve the incompatibility between low passive friction and high transmission ratio of current semi-active knees. The HSAK not only has the low friction to follow the intentions of users, but also performs adequate torque output. Moreover, the rotary damping valve is meticulously designed to effectively control motion damping. The experimental results demonstrate the HSAK combines the advantages of both passive and active prostheses, including the flexibility of passive prostheses, as well as the stability and the sufficient active torque of active prostheses. The maximum flexion angle in level walking is about 60°, and the peak output torque in stair ascent is greater than 60Nm. Relative to the daily use of prosthetics, the HSAK improves gait symmetry on the affected side and contributes to the amputees better maintain daily activities.

Abstract Background Several metabolic disorders and malignancies are directly related to abnormal mitochondrial solute carrier family 25 (SLC25A) members activity. However, its biological role in pancreatic cancer (PC) is not entirely understood. Methods The lasso method was used to create a novel prognostic risk model for PC based on SLC25A members, and its roles in tumor immunology and energy metabolism were explored. Furthermore, co-expression networks were constructed for SLC25A11, SLC25A29, and SLC25A44. Single-cell RNA sequencing (ScRNA-seq) revealed the distribution of gene expression in PC. Tumor immune infiltration was examined with the TIMER database. Lastly, drug sensitivity was investigated, and co-transcriptional factors were predicted. Results In the present study, a novel prognostic risk model was established and validated for PC based on SLC25A members. The high-risk group had a lower activation of oxidative phosphorylation and a more abundant immune infiltration phenotype than the low-risk group. According to co-expression network studies, SLC25A11, SLC25A29, and SLC25A44 were involved in the energy metabolism of PC and prevented tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis. ScRNA-seq research also pointed to their contribution to the tumor microenvironment. Moreover, the recruitment of numerous immune cells was positively correlated with SLC25A11 and SLC25A44 but negatively correlated with SLC25A29. Additionally, the sensitivity to 20 Food and Drug Administration-approved antineoplastic medicines was strongly linked to the aforementioned genes, where cisplatin sensitivity increased with the up-regulation of SLC25A29. Finally, the Scleraxis BHLH Transcription Factor (SCX) and other proteins were hypothesized to co-regulate the mRNA transcription of the genes. Conclusion SLC25A members are crucial for tumor immune and energy metabolism in PC, and SLC25A11, SLC25A29, and SLC25A44 can be used as favorable prognostic markers. The use of these markers will provide new directions to unravel their action mechanisms in PC.

Objective To assess the factors associated with outcomes of arthroscopic surgical repair of rotator cuff tears (RCTs). Method This prospective study recruited patients, at least 18 years old, who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair for full‐thickness RCTs at the First People's Hospital of Hangzhou Xiaoshan between July 2019 and October 2020. Patient demographics, lifestyle habits, and medical histories were collected preoperatively; RCT sizes and affected tendons were determined intraoperatively. Outcomes were assessed by shoulder range of motion (ROM) determinations 1.5 and 3 months postoperatively. The factors associated with ROM were determined using a binary logistic regression analysis, and the results were expressed as adjusted relative risks (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results A total of 132 patients with RCTs underwent arthroscopic surgery. Five were lost to follow‐up, leaving 127 patients (mean age, 59 years; 58.3% women) who were included in the study analysis. The majority of the patients (54.5%) had RCTs that were classified as large or massive, and approximately 20% had tears involving multiple tendons; 80.3% of the patients had tears involving only a single tendon. Moreover, 29.9% of the patients had hypertension and 11.0% had diabetes. Among the patients, 23.0% were smokers and 34.6% drank alcohol. According to the multivariate analysis, none of the assessed factors were associated with shoulder ROM at the 1.5‐month follow‐up. At the 3‐month follow‐up, RCTs involving a single tendon demonstrated 3‐fold better abduction (RR = 4.00; 95% CI, 1.30–12.33; P = 0.016) and 3.15‐fold better internal rotation (RR = 3.15; 95% CI, 1.19–8.36; P = 0.021) than did RCTs involving multiple tendons. Patients who did not drink alcohol demonstrated 6.08‐fold better anteflexion (RR = 7.08; 95% CI, 2.11–23.73; P = 0.002) and nearly 4‐fold better abduction (RR = 4.97; 95% CI, 1.62–15.23; P = 0.005) than patients who drank alcohol. Conclusion To improve outcomes, the results indicate that more targeted measures should be directed toward patients with multiple‐tendon RCTs and that preoperative alcohol abstinence education is needed for patients with RCTs.

Background Insufficient thermal ablation can accelerate malignant behaviors and metastases in some solid tumors, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and autophagy are involved in tumor metastasis. It has been found that TGF-β2 which belongs to the family of transforming growth factors often associated with cancer cell invasiveness and EMT. However, whether the interactions between autophagy and TGF-β2 induce EMT in breast cancer (BC) cells following insufficient microwave ablation (MWA) remains unclear. Methods BC cells were treated with sublethal heat treatment to simulate insufficient MWA, and the effects of heat treatment on the BC cell phenotypes were explored. CCK-8, colony formation, flow cytometry, Transwell, and wound healing assays were performed to evaluate the influence of sublethal heat treatment on the proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and migration of BC cells. Western blotting, real-time quantitative PCR, immunofluorescence, and transmission electron microscopy were carried out to determine the changes in markers associated with autophagy and EMT following sublethal heat treatment. Results Results showed that heat treatment promoted the proliferation of surviving BC cells, which was accompanied by autophagy induction. Heat treatment-induced autophagy up-regulated TGF-β2/Smad2 signaling and promoted EMT phenotype, thereby enhancing BC cells’ migration and invasion abilities. An increase or decrease of TGF-β2 expression resulted in the potentiation and suppression of autophagy, as well as the enhancement and abatement of EMT. Autophagy inhibitors facilitated apoptosis and repressed proliferation of BC cells in vitro, and thwarted BC cell tumor growth and pulmonary metastasis in vivo. Conclusion Heat treatment-induced autophagy promoted invasion and metastasis via TGF-β2/Smad2-mediated EMTs. Suppressing autophagy may be a suitable strategy for overcoming the progression and metastasis of residual BC cells following insufficient MWA.

This study is designed to determine the H2S origin in the Ordovician Ma5 Member of Daniudi gas field and study the corrosion behavior of N80, P110 and N80S tubing and casings in medium-sulfur content HE16, micro-sulfur HE3 and low-sulfur HE1 gas wells. Therefore, method of weight loss of coupon on site were used to determine the corrosion rate. Similarly, SEM, XRD and EDS analyses were employed to know the corrosion products while establishing the relationship with H2S formation conditions. Results of this study show that, as the production time increases, there was initial increase in the volume of H2S before it finally decreases. Among the different sulfur gas wells, the corrosion rate of the HE16 is the largest, followed by the low-sulfur HE3 and the micro-sulfur HE1 (smallest). Within a gas well there exist a proportional relationship where higher partial pressure of H2S leads to higher corrosion rate. Generally, there is a trend of initial increase followed by decrease in the corrosion temperature of the gas wells in order of decreasing sulfur content (HE16, HE3 and HE1 well). Thus, the average corrosion temperature changing-rate of N80, P110, N80S pipe in the medium sulfur content well area, low sulfur content and micro-sulfur wells are 15.13%, 31.01% and 49.45% respectively. Although, the wells have some coupon corrosion products in common, there is still some basic differences in the composition of the HE1 wells (FeCO 3 and CaCO 3), HE3 wells (FeCO 3, FeS and CaCO 3) and HE16 wells (FeCO 3, FeS0.9, FeS and CaCO 3). These corrosion products are clearly stratified in the HE16 and HE3 wells, while no stratification occur in the HE1 wells. The densely structured FeCO 3 is well-distributed within just as the loose and poorly-converted sulfides are distributed on the surface. Both uniform and local corrosion exist simultaneously in the study area. The galvanic corrosion between the product substrate as well as the pitting caused by the inorganic salt result in local corrosion. In the micro-sulfur gas well, only uniform corrosion occur to form FeCO 3 as the corrosion product. For future development of the M5 member of Daniudi gas field, N80 tubing and casing is recommended for the micro-sulfur gas well, P110 or N80S material tubing and casing for the low sulfur gas well and N80S oil jacket for the sulfur gas well. It is good to note that special attention should be paid to the influence of temperature changes on the corrosion rate of the tubing and casing in the low-sulfur and medium-sulfur well zones.

Glucuronidation catalyzed by UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs) is one of the most important phase II mechanisms, facilitating drug clearance via conjugation of glucuronic acid with polar groups of xenobiotics. Accumulating evidence suggests that IBDs impact drug disposition, but whether and how IBDs regulate UGTs and drug glucuronidation remains undefined. In this study, we aim to investigate the expression of UGTs and drug glucuronidation in experimental colitis. Given that glucuronidation occurs primarily in the liver, we analyzed the mRNA changes in hepatic UGTs with a DSS-induced mouse colitis model. Twelve UGTs were downregulated in the liver of colitis mice including UGT1A1 and UGT1A9 (two representative UGTs). Colitis in mice downregulated UGT1A1 and UGT1A9 in the liver but not in small intestine, colon, and kidney. We also established that the downregulation of UGTs was attributed to the disease itself rather than the DSS compound. Moreover, colitis-reduced UGT1A1 and UGT1A9 lead to dampened baicalein and puerarin glucuronidation. PXR was the only UGT regulator significantly downregulated in colitis mice, suggesting dysregulation of PXR is associated with the downregulation of UGT1A1 and UGT1A9, thereby potentially resulting in dysfunction of baicalein and puerarin glucuronidation. Collectively, we establish that UGTs and glucuronidation are dysregulated in colitis, and this effect may cause variation in drug responsiveness in IBDs.

The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of ternary polymer solar cells (PSCs) with non-fullerene has a phenomenal increase in recent years. However, improving the open circuit voltage (Voc) of ternary PSCs with non-fullerene still remains a challenge. Therefore, in this work, machine learning (ML) algorithms are employed, including eXtreme gradient boosting, K-nearest neighbor and random forest, to quantitatively analyze the impact mechanism of Voc in ternary PSCs with the double acceptors from the two aspects of photovoltaic materials. In one aspect of photovoltaic materials, the doping concentration has the greatest impact on Voc in ternary PSCs. Furthermore, the addition of the third component affects the energy offset between the donor and acceptor for increasing Voc in ternary PSCs. More importantly, to obtain the maximum Voc in ternary PSCs with the double acceptors, the HOMO and LUMO energy levels of the third component should be around (−5.7 ± 0.1) eV and (−3.6 ± 0.1) eV, respectively. In the other aspect of molecular descriptors and molecular fingerprints in the third component of ternary PSCs with the double acceptors, the hydrogen bond strength and aromatic ring structure of the third component have high impact on the Voc of ternary PSCs. In partial dependence plot, it is clear that when the number of methyl groups is four and the number of carbonyl groups is two in the third component of acceptor, the Voc of ternary PSCs with the double acceptors can be maximized. All of these findings provide valuable insights into the development of materials with high Voc in ternary PSCs for saving time and cost.

The navigation by the stellar refraction is important for a LEO (Low-Earth-Orbit) satellite, especially in a GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-denied environment, since it is totally autonomous. However, the biggest barrier to the accurate navigation by the stellar refraction lies in the accurate stratospheric density. Therefore, the retrieval of the stratospheric density by the star occultation is proposed in this paper to acquire the stratospheric density globally with the high accuracy. Compared with the retrieval of the stratospheric density by the GPS (Global Positioning System) radio occultation, the retrieval by the star occultation can achieve a high vertical resolution. The retrieval of the stratospheric density by the star occultation is first derived in principle. Then, the performance of the retrieval, including the spatial resolution, the atmospheric attenuation, and the accuracy, was investigated in detail. The performance of the retrieval was also comprehensively verified by simulations. The simulation results prove that the retrieval of the stratospheric density by the star occultation can achieve a similar accuracy to that by the GPS radio occultation, but it has a higher vertical resolution than that by the GPS radio occultation, which is good for improving the accuracy of the navigation by the stellar refraction.

Hematophagous invertebrates such as mosquitoes, leeches, mites, ticks, lice and bugs cause various problems for humans. Considering reports on insecticide resistance and requirements for improved environmental and toxicological profiles, there is a continuing need to discover and develop new insecticides and repellents. Ethnobotanical surveys of traditional plant-based repellents provide a direct method of identifying plants for potential use. During five field surveys in Bulang, Jinuo and Lahu villages between August 2018 and July 2019, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 237 informants (151 male, 86 female; mean age 63). Frequency of citation, use value, informant consensus factor and Jaccard index were employed to statistically analyze the collected data. A total of 709 use reports relating to 32 plant species and 71 remedies were collected. Similarities and differences between the three groups, as well as the Dai and Hani of Xishuangbanna, who were studied earlier, were shown through network analysis. These five ethnic groups living in the same area have a common understanding of traditional botanical knowledge against hematophagous invertebrates, but each group also possesses unique knowledge. Recording and protecting this traditional knowledge is potentially useful for protecting this cultural diversity and related biodiversity and can also have important practical applications. In this study, traditional knowledge provided us with many new potential plants for follow-up research for the development of new insecticides and repellents, among which Artemisia indica, Nicotiana tabacum and Clausena excavata are the most promising.

Deep learning is a growing trend in medical image analysis. There are limited data of deep learning techniques applied in Chest X-rays. This paper proposed a deep learning algorithm for cardiothoracic ratio (CTR) calculation in chest X-rays. A fully convolutional neural network was employed to segment chest X-ray images and calculate CTR. CTR values derived from the deep learning model were compared with the reference standard using Bland-Altman analysis and linear correlation graphs, and intra-class correlation (ICC) analyses. Diagnostic performance of the model for the detection of heart enlargement was assessed and compared with other deep learning methods and radiologists. CTR values derived from the deep learning method showed excellent agreement with the reference standard, with mean difference 0.0004 ± 0.0133, 95% limits of agreement -0.0256 to 0.0264. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide and its incidence continues to increase year by year. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) caused by protein misfolding within the secretory pathway in cells and has an extensive and deep impact on cancer cell progression and survival. Growing evidence suggests that the genes related to ERS are closely associated with the occurrence and progression of HCC. This study aimed to identify an ERS-related signature for the prospective evaluation of prognosis in HCC patients. RNA sequencing data and clinical data of patients from HCC patients were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and The International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC). Using data from TCGA as a training cohort (n=424) and data from ICGC as an independent external testing cohort (n=243), ERS-related genes were extracted to identify three common pathways IRE1, PEKR, and ATF6 using the GSEA database. Through univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis, 5 gene signals in the training cohort were found to be related to ERS and closely correlated with the prognosis in patients of HCC. A novel 5-gene signature (including HDGF, EIF2S1, SRPRB, PPP2R5B and DDX11) was created and had power as a prognostic biomarker. The prognosis of patients with high-risk HCC was worse than that of patients with low-risk HCC. Multivariate Cox regression analysis confirmed that the signature was an independent prognostic biomarker for HCC. The results were further validated in an independent external testing cohort (ICGC). Also, GSEA indicated a series of significantly enriched oncological signatures and different metabolic processes that may enable a better understanding of the potential molecular mechanism mediating the progression of HCC. The 5-gene biomarker has a high potential for clinical applications in the risk stratification and overall survival prediction of HCC patients. In addition, the abnormal expression of these genes may be affected by copy number variation, methylation variation, and post-transcriptional regulation. Together, this study indicated that the genes may have potential as prognostic biomarkers in HCC and may provide new evidence supporting targeted therapies in HCC.

In view of the characteristics of the high content of SO42−, Fe2+ and Mn2+ in acid mine drainage (AMD) and low pH value, based on adsorption and biological methods, coal gangue was combined with sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB). On this basis, four dynamic columns, including Column 1 (SRB combined with spontaneous combustion gangue from the Gaode coal mine), Column 2 (SRB combined with spontaneous combustion gangue from Haizhou), Column 3 (SRB combined with gangue from Haizhou), and Column 4 (SRB combined with gangue from Shanxi), were constructed. The efficacy of four columns was compared by the inflow of AMD with different pollution load. Results showed that the repair effect of four columns was: Column 3 > Column 2 > Column 1 > Column 4. In the second stage of the experiment, the repair effect of Column 3 was the best. The average effluent pH value and oxidation reduction potential (ORP) value were 9.09 and −262.83 mV, the highest removal percentages of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and SO42− were 84.41% and 72.73%, and the average removal percentages of Fe2+, Mn2+ were 98.70% and 79.97%, respectively. At the end of the experiment, when deionized water was injected, the fixed effect of AMD in the four columns was stable and no secondary release appeared.
