Search

The Lin-Kernighan-Helsguan (LKH) heuristic is a classic local search algorithm for the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). LKH introduces an $\alpha$-value to replace the traditional distance metric for evaluating the edge quality, which leads to a significant improvement. However, we observe that the $\alpha$-value does not make full use of the historical information during the search, and single guiding information often makes LKH hard to escape from some local optima. To address the above issues, we propose a novel way to extract backbone information during the TSP local search process, which is dynamic and can be updated once a local optimal solution is found. We further propose to combine backbone information, $\alpha$-value, and distance to evaluate the edge quality so as to guide the search. Moreover, we abstract their different combinations to arms in a multi-armed bandit (MAB) and use an MAB model to help the algorithm select an appropriate evaluation metric dynamically. Both the backbone information and MAB can provide diverse guiding information and learn from the search history to suggest the best metric. We apply our methods to LKH and LKH-3, which is an extension version of LKH that can be used to solve about 40 variant problems of TSP and Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP). Extensive experiments show the excellent performance and generalization capability of our proposed method, significantly improving LKH for TSP and LKH-3 for two representative TSP and VRP variants, the Colored TSP (CTSP) and Capacitated VRP with Time Windows (CVRPTW).

Current novel view synthesis tasks primarily rely on high-quality and clear images. However, in foggy scenes, scattering and attenuation can significantly degrade the reconstruction and rendering quality. Although NeRF-based dehazing reconstruction algorithms have been developed, their use of deep fully connected neural networks and per-ray sampling strategies leads to high computational costs. Moreover, NeRF's implicit representation struggles to recover fine details from hazy scenes. In contrast, recent advancements in 3D Gaussian Splatting achieve high-quality 3D scene reconstruction by explicitly modeling point clouds into 3D Gaussians. In this paper, we propose leveraging the explicit Gaussian representation to explain the foggy image formation process through a physically accurate forward rendering process. We introduce DehazeGS, a method capable of decomposing and rendering a fog-free background from participating media using only muti-view foggy images as input. We model the transmission within each Gaussian distribution to simulate the formation of fog. During this process, we jointly learn the atmospheric light and scattering coefficient while optimizing the Gaussian representation of the hazy scene. In the inference stage, we eliminate the effects of scattering and attenuation on the Gaussians and directly project them onto a 2D plane to obtain a clear view. Experiments on both synthetic and real-world foggy datasets demonstrate that DehazeGS achieves state-of-the-art performance in terms of both rendering quality and computational efficiency. visualizations are available at https://dehazegs.github.io/, Comment: 9 pages,4 figures. visualizations are available at https://dehazegs.github.io/

In order to solve the problem of insufficient generation quality caused by traditional patent text abstract generation models only originating from patent specifications, the problem of new terminology OOV caused by rapid patent updates, and the problem of information redundancy caused by insufficient consideration of the high professionalism, accuracy, and uniqueness of patent texts, we proposes a patent text abstract generation model (MSEA) based on a master-slave encoder architecture; Firstly, the MSEA model designs a master-slave encoder, which combines the instructions in the patent text with the claims as input, and fully explores the characteristics and details between the two through the master-slave encoder; Then, the model enhances the consideration of new technical terms in the input sequence based on the pointer network, and further enhances the correlation with the input text by re weighing the "remembered" and "for-gotten" parts of the input sequence from the encoder; Finally, an enhanced repetition suppression mechanism for patent text was introduced to ensure accurate and non redundant abstracts generated. On a publicly available patent text dataset, compared to the state-of-the-art model, Improved Multi-Head Attention Mechanism (IMHAM), the MSEA model achieves an improvement of 0.006, 0.005, and 0.005 in Rouge-1, Rouge-2, and Rouge-L scores, respectively. We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient, EP240408a, by Einstein Probe (EP) and follow-up studies made with EP, Swift, NICER, GROND, ATCA and other ground-based multi-wavelength telescopes. The new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope (WXT) on board EP on April 8th, 2024, manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for 12 seconds. The flare reached a peak flux of 3.9x10^(-9) erg/cm2/s in 0.5-4 keV, about 300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the observation. Rapid and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT, Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new transient. Its X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 keV, with a power-law photon index varying within 1.8-2.5. The X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for about 4 days, followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable about 10 days after the initial detection. Based on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations, an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 days is found for EP240408a, which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term transients. No counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared, with the earliest observation at 17 hours after the initial X-ray detection, suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these bands. We demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far, by comparison with, in particular, jetted tidal disruption events, gamma-ray bursts, X-ray binaries and fast blue optical transients. The nature of EP240408a thus remains an enigma. We suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of about 10 days. A spike camera is a specialized high-speed visual sensor that offers advantages such as high temporal resolution and high dynamic range compared to conventional frame cameras. These features provide the camera with significant advantages in many computer vision tasks. However, the tasks of novel view synthesis based on spike cameras remain underdeveloped. Although there are existing methods for learning neural radiance fields from spike stream, they either lack robustness in extremely noisy, low-quality lighting conditions or suffer from high computational complexity due to the deep fully connected neural networks and ray marching rendering strategies used in neural radiance fields, making it difficult to recover fine texture details. In contrast, the latest advancements in 3DGS have achieved high-quality real-time rendering by optimizing the point cloud representation into Gaussian ellipsoids. Building on this, we introduce SpikeGS, the method to learn 3D Gaussian fields solely from spike stream. We designed a differentiable spike stream rendering framework based on 3DGS, incorporating noise embedding and spiking neurons. By leveraging the multi-view consistency of 3DGS and the tile-based multi-threaded parallel rendering mechanism, we achieved high-quality real-time rendering results. Additionally, we introduced a spike rendering loss function that generalizes under varying illumination conditions. Our method can reconstruct view synthesis results with fine texture details from a continuous spike stream captured by a moving spike camera, while demonstrating high robustness in extremely noisy low-light scenarios. Experimental results on both real and synthetic datasets demonstrate that our method surpasses existing approaches in terms of rendering quality and speed. We report on results of the on-ground X-ray calibration of the Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy (LEIA), an experimental space wide-field (18.6*18.6 square degrees) X-ray telescope built from novel lobster eye mirco-pore optics. LEIA was successfully launched on July 27, 2022 onboard the SATech-01 satellite. To achieve full characterisation of its performance before launch, a series of tests and calibrations have been carried out at different levels of devices, assemblies and the complete module. In this paper, we present the results of the end-to-end calibration campaign of the complete module carried out at the 100-m X-ray Test Facility at IHEP. The PSF, effective area and energy response of the detectors were measured in a wide range of incident directions at several X-ray line energies. The distributions of the PSF and effective areas are roughly uniform across the FoV, in large agreement with the prediction of lobster-eye optics. The mild variations and deviations from the prediction of idealized lobster-eye optics can be understood to be caused by the imperfect shapes and alignment of the micro-pores as well as the obscuration by the supporting frames, which can be well reproduced by MC simulations. The spatial resolution of LEIA defined by the FWHM of the focal spot ranges from 4-8 arcmin with a median of 5.7. The measured effective areas are in range of 2-3 $cm^2$ at ~1.25 keV across the entire FoV, and its dependence on photon energy is in large agreement with simulations. The gains of the CMOS sensors are in range of 6.5-6.9 eV/DN, and the energy resolutions in the range of ~120-140 eV at 1.25 keV and ~170-190 eV at 4.5 keV. These results have been ingested into the calibration database and applied to the analysis of the scientific data acquired by LEIA. Since the advent of Neural Radiance Fields, novel view synthesis has received tremendous attention. The existing approach for the generalization of radiance field reconstruction primarily constructs an encoding volume from nearby source images as additional inputs. However, these approaches cannot efficiently encode the geometric information of real scenes with various scale objects/structures. In this work, we propose constructing multi-scale encoding volumes and providing multi-scale geometry information to NeRF models. To make the constructed volumes as close as possible to the surfaces of objects in the scene and the rendered depth more accurate, we propose to perform depth prediction and radiance field reconstruction simultaneously. The predicted depth map will be used to supervise the rendered depth, narrow the depth range, and guide points sampling. Finally, the geometric information contained in point volume features may be inaccurate due to occlusion, lighting, etc. To this end, we propose enhancing the point volume feature from depth-guided neighbor feature fusion. Experiments demonstrate the superior performance of our method in both novel view synthesis and dense geometry modeling without per-scene optimization.

Learning-based point cloud registration methods can handle clean point clouds well, while it is still challenging to generalize to noisy, partial, and density-varying point clouds. To this end, we propose a novel point cloud registration framework for these imperfect point clouds. By introducing a neural implicit representation, we replace the problem of rigid registration between point clouds with a registration problem between the point cloud and the neural implicit function. We then propose to alternately optimize the implicit function and the registration between the implicit function and point cloud. In this way, point cloud registration can be performed in a coarse-to-fine manner. By fully capitalizing on the capabilities of the neural implicit function without computing point correspondences, our method showcases remarkable robustness in the face of challenges such as noise, incompleteness, and density changes of point clouds.

In recent years, supervised or unsupervised learning-based MVS methods achieved excellent performance compared with traditional methods. However, these methods only use the probability volume computed by cost volume regularization to predict reference depths and this manner cannot mine enough information from the probability volume. Furthermore, the unsupervised methods usually try to use two-step or additional inputs for training which make the procedure more complicated. In this paper, we propose the DS-MVSNet, an end-to-end unsupervised MVS structure with the source depths synthesis. To mine the information in probability volume, we creatively synthesize the source depths by splattering the probability volume and depth hypotheses to source views. Meanwhile, we propose the adaptive Gaussian sampling and improved adaptive bins sampling approach that improve the depths hypotheses accuracy. On the other hand, we utilize the source depths to render the reference images and propose depth consistency loss and depth smoothness loss. These can provide additional guidance according to photometric and geometric consistency in different views without additional inputs. Finally, we conduct a series of experiments on the DTU dataset and Tanks & Temples dataset that demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of our DS-MVSNet compared with the state-of-the-art methods., Comment: Accepted by ACM MM 2022

Deep learning recommendation models (DLRMs) have been widely applied in Internet companies. The embedding tables of DLRMs are too large to fit on GPU memory entirely. We propose a GPU-based software cache approaches to dynamically manage the embedding table in the CPU and GPU memory space by leveraging the id's frequency statistics of the target dataset. Our proposed software cache is efficient in training entire DLRMs on GPU in a synchronized update manner. It is also scaled to multiple GPUs in combination with the widely used hybrid parallel training approaches. Evaluating our prototype system shows that we can keep only 1.5% of the embedding parameters in the GPU to obtain a decent end-to-end training speed.

Limited by the computational efficiency and accuracy, generating complex 3D scenes remains a challenging problem for existing generation networks. In this work, we propose DepthGAN, a novel method of generating depth maps with only semantic layouts as input. First, we introduce a well-designed cascade of transformer blocks as our generator to capture the structural correlations in depth maps, which makes a balance between global feature aggregation and local attention. Meanwhile, we propose a cross-attention fusion module to guide edge preservation efficiently in depth generation, which exploits additional appearance supervision information. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments on the perspective views of the Structured3d panorama dataset and demonstrate that our DepthGAN achieves superior performance both on quantitative results and visual effects in the depth generation task.Furthermore, 3D indoor scenes can be reconstructed by our generated depth maps with reasonable structure and spatial coherency., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Discrete time crystals (DTC) have been demonstrated experimentally in several different quantum systems in the past few years. Spin couplings and cavity losses have been shown to play crucial roles for realizing DTC order in open many-body systems out of equilibrium. Recently, it has been proposed that eternal and transient DTC can be present with an open Floquet setup in the thermodynamic limit and in the deep quantum regime with few qubits, respectively. In this work, we consider the effects of spin damping and spin dephasing on the DTC order in spin-optomechanical and open cavity systems in which the spins can be all-to-all coupled. In the thermodynamic limit, it is shown that the existence of dephasing can destroy the coherence of the system and finally lead the system to its trivial steady state. Without dephasing, eternal DTC is displayed in the weak damping regime, which may be destroyed by increasing the all-to-all spin coupling or the spin damping. By contrast, the all-to-all coupling is constructive to the DTC in the moderate damping regime. We also focus on a model which can be experimentally realized by a suspended hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) membrane with a few spin color centers under microwave drive and Floquet magnetic field. Signatures of transient DTC behavior are demonstrated in both weak and moderate dissipation regimes without spin dephasing. Depth estimation is a crucial step for 3D reconstruction with panorama images in recent years. Panorama images maintain the complete spatial information but introduce distortion with equirectangular projection. In this paper, we propose an ACDNet based on the adaptively combined dilated convolution to predict the dense depth map for a monocular panoramic image. Specifically, we combine the convolution kernels with different dilations to extend the receptive field in the equirectangular projection. Meanwhile, we introduce an adaptive channel-wise fusion module to summarize the feature maps and get diverse attention areas in the receptive field along the channels. Due to the utilization of channel-wise attention in constructing the adaptive channel-wise fusion module, the network can capture and leverage the cross-channel contextual information efficiently. Finally, we conduct depth estimation experiments on three datasets (both virtual and real-world) and the experimental results demonstrate that our proposed ACDNet substantially outperforms the current state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods.
