Background: With the continued advancement of RNA-seq (RNA-sequencing), microRNA (miRNA) editing events have been demonstrated to play an important role in different malignancies. However, there is yet no description of the miRNA editing events in recurrent bladder cancer.Objective: To identify and compare miRNA editing events in primary and recurrent bladder cancer, as well as to investigate the potential molecular mechanism and its impact on patient prognosis.Methods: We examined the mRNA and miRNA transcriptomes of 12 recurrent bladder cancer cases and 13 primary bladder cancer cases. The differentially expressed mRNA sequences were analyzed. Furthermore, we identified the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in recurrent bladder cancer. The Gene Ontology (GO) functional enrichment analyses on DEGs and gene set enrichment analysis were performed. The consensus molecular subtype (CMS) classification of bladder cancer was identified using the Consensus MIBC package in R (4.1.0); miRNA sequences were then further subjected to differentially expressed analysis and pathway enrichment analysis. MiRNA editing events were identified using miRge3.0. miRDB and TargetScanHuman were used to predict the downstream targets of specific differentially edited or expressed miRNAs. The expression levels of miR-154-5p and ADAR were validated by RT-qPCR. Finally, survival and co-expression studies were performed on the TCGA-BLCA cohort.Results: First, the mRNA expression levels in recurrent bladder cancer changed significantly, supporting progression via related molecular signal pathways. Second, significantly altered miRNAs in recurrent bladder cancer were identified, with miR-154-5p showing the highest level of editing in recurrent bladder cancer and may up-regulate the expression levels of downstream targets HS3ST3A1, AQP9, MYLK, and RAB23. The survival analysis results of TCGA data revealed that highly expressed HS3ST3A1 and RAB23 exhibited poor prognosis. In addition, miR-154 editing events were found to be significant to CMS classification.Conclusion: MiRNA editing in recurrent bladder cancer was detected and linked with poor patient prognosis, providing a reference for further uncovering the intricate molecular mechanism in recurrent bladder cancer. Therefore, inhibiting A-to-I editing of miRNA may be a viable target for bladder cancer treatment, allowing current treatment choices to be expanded and individualized.

The grain size effect on the shaped charge jet (SCJ) stretching process was analytically formulated and experimentally verified by penetration tests. The present analytical model predicts an optimum grain size for the SCJ performance, deduced from the concurrent effect of grain size on flow stress, strain rate sensitivity, and surface roughness. Specifically, reducing the grain size will improve the initial surface roughness and decrease the initial perturbation amplitude, favoring the SCJ stretching. On the other hand, the strain rate sensitivity and flow stress for copper increase with the decrease of grain size, facilitating the perturbation growth and leading to a premature breakup. Thus, the present analytical model predicts that the optimum grain size of the SCJ is about 1–5 μm. The penetration test verified that the shaped charge liner with an average grain size of about 3.6 ± 2.5 μm exhibited the largest penetration depth. The consistent results from the analytical model and the penetration experiments certify the feasibility of the present analytical model on the SCJ performance.

The use of a shaped liner driven by electromagnetic force is a new means of forming jets. To study the mechanism of jet formation driven by electromagnetic force, we considered the current skin effect and the characteristics of electromagnetic loading and established a coupling model of “Electric–Magnetic–Force” and the theoretical model of jet formation under electromagnetic force. The jet formation and penetration of conical and trumpet liners have been calculated. Then, a numerical simulation of liner collapse under electromagnetic force, jet generation, and the stretching motion were performed using an ANSYS multiphysics processor. The calculated jet velocity, jet shape, and depth of penetration were consistent with the experimental results, with a relative error of less than 10%. In addition, we calculated the jet formation of different curvature trumpet liners driven by the same loading condition and obtained the influence rule of the curvature of the liner on jet formation. Results show that the theoretical model and the ANSYS multiphysics numerical method can effectively calculate the jet formation of liners driven by electromagnetic force, and in a certain range, the greater the curvature of the liner is, the greater the jet velocity is.

Based on the characteristic expanded hole of a shaped charge jet (SCJ) for target penetration and the reflow characteristics of liquids, the liquid-filled structure of a target disturbs the stability of the SCJ acquired in two independent parts. The interference jet speed interval, the escape jet speed interval, and the surplus depth are calculated on the basis of the virtual origin theory. The experimental results, including the velocity of the escaped jet tip and the surplus depth of penetration, are consistent with the theoretical results. Experiments show that the theory can describe the interaction process of the target with a shaped charge jet. Keywords: Shaped charge, Liquid-filled structure target, Disturbed jet, Escape jet

An analytical model for calculating the propagation time of shock wave in a wave shaper is presented in this study. The calculated results show that the contours of three typical detonation waves, such as conical detonation wave, spherical detonation wave, and planar detonation wave, can be formed in the main charge by changing the thickness of wave shaper. The results show that the planar detonation wave do better than the conical detonation and the spherical detonation wave in increasing the length–diameter ratio of explosively-formed projectiles (EFP) and keep the nose of EFP integrated. The detonation wave can increase the length–diameter ratio of EFP when the wave shaper has the suitable thickness.

AbstractThe protective capability of the Kevlar fibre-reinforced rubber composite armour (KFRRCA) at different obliquities is studied using depth-of-penetration experiments method against a 56 mm-diameter standard-shaped charge. Efficiency factors are calculated to evaluate the protection capability of the KFRRCA at different obliquities. Meanwhile, an X-ray experiment is used to observe the deformation, fracture, and scatter of the shaped-charge jet as it penetrates the composite armour. Finally, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to analyse the effect of the Kevlar fibre-reinforced rubber for the composite armour to resist jet penetration. The results showed that the KFEECA can be used as additional armour, because it has excellent protection capability, and it can disturb the stability of the middle part of the shaped charge jet (SCJ) obviously especially when the armour at 30°and 68° obliquities.
