This study proposed a hydroponic system with the capacity to acquire high-resolution in situ mass data for non-destructive evaluation of water circulation in lettuce. The system customizes the watering profile, enables high-frequency in situ weight measurement, and monitors multidimensional environment changes. Key air, water, and light parameters were collected to evaluate the plant response, susceptibility, and adaptability to environmental conditions. Multiple physiological indices were defined to characterize the properties of two lettuce varieties in response to different environmental factors.

The huge amount of urea applied has necessitated best-developed practices to slow down the release of nitrogen (N) fertilizer while minimizing nitrate loss. However, the impact of nitrification inhibitors on mineral-N turnover and the associated microbial mechanisms at different stages remains unknown. A 60-day incubation experiment was conducted with four treatments: no fertilizer (CK), urea (U), urea with copper pyrazole (UC), and urea coated with copper pyrazole (SUC), to evaluate the changes about soil ammonia N (NH4+-N) and nitrate N (NO3−-N) levels as well as in soil microbial community throughout the whole incubation period. The results showed that copper pyrazole exhibited significantly higher inhibition rates on urease compared to other metal-pyrazole coordination compounds. The soil NH4+-N content peaked on the 10th day and was significantly greater in UC compared to U, while the NO3−-N content was significantly greater in U compared to UC on the 60th day. Copper pyrazole mainly decreased the expression of nitrifying (AOB-amoA) and denitrifying (nirK) genes, impacting the soil microbial community. Co-occurrence network suggested that Mycobacterium and Cronobacter sakazakii-driven Cluster 4 community potentially affected the nitrification process in the initial phase, converting NH4+-N to NO3−-N. Fusarium-driven Cluster 3 community likely facilitated the denitrification of NO3−-N and caused N loss to the atmosphere in the late stage. The application of copper pyrazole may influence the process of nitrification and denitrification by regulating soil microbial traits (module community and functional genes). Our research indicates that the addition of copper pyrazole alters the community function driven by keystone taxa, altering mineral-N turnover and supporting the use of nitrification inhibitors in sustainable agriculture.

IntroductionGoose astrovirus (GAstV) is a newly emerging pathogen that is currently widespread among geese, causing visceral gout and leading to substantial gosling mortalities, posing a severe threat to the waterfowl industry. GAstV II is the predominant epidemic strain, characterized by its high morbidity and mortality rate. Consequently, there is an urgent necessity to develop an effective diagnostic approach to control the dissemination of GAstV II, particularly in clinical farms with limited laboratory resources.MethodsIn this study, a novel multi-enzyme isothermal rapid amplification (MIRA) and lateral flow dipstick (LFD) combined assay was developed. Different primers designed specific targeting a highly conserved region within the viral RdRp gene for the detection of GAstV II. Primers optimized and MIRA-LFD assay analyzed its performance regarding limits of detection, specificity, and efficiency of detection.ResultsThe developed MIRA amplification is conducted at a constant temperature and accomplished within 10 minutes. Subsequent naked-eye observation of the LFD strips merely takes 5 minutes. The established MIRA-LFD method exhibits high specificity, with no cross-reaction with other pathogens and attains a detection sensitivity of 1 copy/μl, which is consistent with the reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) assay. Further evaluation with clinical samples indicates that the accuracy of this MIRA-LFD method correlates well with RT-qPCR for the detection of GAstV II. ConclusionIn summary, the convenience, sensitivity, and rapidity of this newly developed detection method offer a significant advantage for on-site diagnosis of GAstV II.

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) germination is sensitive to environmental conditions. Recently, hydrogel has received increased attention as an alternative media to soil for seed germination. Compared to soil seeding, hydrogel-aided germination provides more controlled seeding environments. However, there are still challenges preventing hydrogel-aided seed germination from being widely used in industry production or academic studies, such as hydrogel formulation variations, seeding operation standardization, and germination evaluation. In this study, we tested how the combination of multiple environmental conditions affect lettuce seed germination time, which is measured as the time needed for the first pair of leaves to appear (leaf emergence) or, alternatively, the third leaf to appear (leaf development). We found that germination time and success rate of two lettuce varieties (Iceberg A and Butter Crunch) showed different sensitivities to pH, Hoagland formulations and concentrations, light intensity, and hydrogel content. We have conducted statistical analysis on the correlation between germination time and these environmental conditions.

Abstract The significant impact of vegetation restoration on the turnover of organic carbon (OC) is mainly attributed to biological processes. However, the contribution of abiotic processes associated with reactive oxygen species (ROS) during vegetation restoration has remained largely overlooked. Therefore, we systematically explored ROS distribution and production mechanisms in sandy soil and their corresponding effects on OC oxidation through field monitoring and incubation experiments. The cumulative concentrations of hydroxyl radicals (•OH) produced within 24 h varied in different soils undergoing vegetation restoration, ranging from 2.36 to 22.05 μmol kg‒1, which were derived from the Fenton-like reaction of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and biotic-induced Fe(II). In addition, during the oxidation of reductive SOC, H2O2 can be formed and react with Fe(II) to generate •OH. Further, •OH significantly induced the abiotic transformation of OC, accounting for 15.93%‒25.80% of carbon dioxide (CO2) efflux. Specifically, 1 mol •OH can induce the production of 0.01–0.02 mol CO2 for particulate organic carbon (POC) and 0.03‒0.23 mol CO2 for mineral-associated organic carbon (MOC), as demonstrated by chemical quenching and sterilisation experiments. This indicated that MOC was more sensitive to •OH attacks. Collectively, our findings provide insights into the accumulation of ROS in sandy soils during vegetation restoration, with •OH playing a key role in SOC oxidation, as well as the patterns of SOC turnover and its response to changes in the soil environment. In-plane shear mechanical experiments of ceramic matrix mini-composites (CMMC) were realized in this paper by overcoming the difficulties of material preparation, specimen design, gripping and loading, deformation measurement, etc. The in-plane shear stress-strain responses of different matrix volume fractions were obtained based on the method. The stress-strain response of CMMC was strongly non-linear, and its elastic modulus and strength were positively correlated to the matrix volume fraction. The main factors affecting the digital image correlation (DIC) based micro-region shear deformation measurement are analyzed quantitatively, and the corresponding solutions are discussed. The DIC calculation time model is established, and the accurate estimation of DIC processing time is realized. The shear strain field evolution clearly captured the matrix crack initiation and propagation.

Microbial-driven N turnover is important in regulating N fertilizer use efficiency through the secretion of metabolites like glycolipids. Currently, our understanding of the potential of glycolipids to partially reduce N fertilizer use and the effects of glycolipids on crop yield and N use efficiency is still limited. Here, a three-year in situ field experiment was conducted with seven treatments: no fertilization (CK); chemical N, phosphorus and potassium (NPK); NPK plus glycolipids (N+PKT); and PK plus glycolipids with 10% (0.9 N+PKT), 20% (0.8 N+PKT), 30% (0.7 N+PKT), and 100% (PKT) N reduction. Compared with NPK, glycolipids with 0–20% N reduction did not significantly reduce maize yields, and also increased N uptake by 6.26–11.07%, but no significant changes in grain or straw N uptake. The N resorption efficiency under 0.9 N+PKT was significantly greater than that under NPK, while the apparent utilization rates of N fertilizer and partial factor productivity of N under 0.9 N+PKT were significantly greater than those under NPK. Although 0.9 N+PKT led to additional labor and input costs, compared with NPK, it had a greater net economic benefit. Our study demonstrates the potential for using glycolipids in agroecosystem management and provides theoretical support for optimizing fertilization strategies.

AbstractTrait introgression (TI) can be a time-consuming and costly task that typically requires multiple generations of backcrossing (BC). Usually, the aim is to introduce one or more alleles (e.g. QTLs) from a single donor into an elite recipient, both of which are fully inbred. This article studies the potential advantages of incorporating intercrossing (IC) into TI programs when compared with relying solely on the traditional BC framework. We simulate a TI breeding pipeline using 3 previously proposed selection strategies for the traditional BC scheme and 3 modified strategies that allow IC. Our proposed look-ahead intercrossing method (LAS-IC) combines look-ahead Monte Carlo simulations, intercrossing, and additional selection criteria to improve computational efficiency. We compared the efficiency of the 6 strategies across 5 levels of resource availability considering the generation when the major QTLs have been successfully introduced into the recipient and a desired background recovery rate reached. Simulations demonstrate that the inclusion of intercrossing in a TI program can substantially increase efficiency and the probability of success. The proposed LAS-IC provides the highest probability of success across the different scenarios using fewer resources compared with BC-only strategies.

3,4-Dihydroxyphenylethanol (DOPET) is a polyphenol found in olive oil. The present study evaluated the protective role of DOPET on LPS provoked septic cardiac injury in a murine model. Four groups were used in the study (n = 3): control, LPS, DOPET alone, and DOPET + LPS. LPS (15 mg/kg; i.p.); they were used to induce cardiac sepsis. The cardiac markers like LDH, CK-MB, and troponin-T, as well as inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-6 were measured in the serum. The antioxidants and oxidative stress parameters were measured in cardiac tissues. RT-PCR and western blot methods were done to evaluate the expression of inflammatory mediators and apoptotic markers. DOPET significantly decreased the cardiac markers (LDH, CK-MB, and troponin-T) and TNF-α and IL-6 level in the serum. DOPET effectively reduced the levels of MDA and NO in LPS intoxicated rats. DOPET also increased the levels of antioxidants like SOD, CAT, GPx, and GSH in LPS intoxicated rats. The mRNA levels of TNF-α, IL-6, and NF-κB were significantly downregulated by DOPET in cardiac tissues of LPS rats. The protein expression of Bcl-2 was upregulated, and Bax and caspase-3 were downregulated by DOPET. DOPET effectively attenuates LPS-induced cardiac dysfunction through its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic mechanisms.

ABSTRACT The novel duck reovirus (NDRV) is an emerging pathogen that causes disease in various waterfowl species. Since the outbreak, it has caused huge economic losses to the duck industry in China. A rapid, reliable, and high-throughput method is required for epidemiological investigation and evaluation of vaccine immunogenicity. A good first step would be establishing an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) that could detect NDRV antibodies in different breeds of ducks and geese from the serum and egg yolk. This study used a recombinant NDRV σB protein and a corresponding horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-labeled monoclonal antibody to develop a blocking ELISA (B-ELISA). The cutoff value of the B-ELISA was 37.01%. A total of 212 serum samples were tested by the B-ELISA, and the virus neutralization test (VNT) was the gold standard test. The sensitivity and specificity of the B-ELISA were 92.17% (106/115) and 97.94% (95/97), respectively. The agreement rates between the B-ELISA and VNT were 94.81% (kappa value, 0.896). The B-ELISA could specifically recognize anti-NDRV sera without cross-reacting with other positive serums for other major diseases in ducks and geese. The inter- and intra-assay coefficients of variation (CVs) of the B-ELISA and VNT assays were acceptable. In conclusion, the novel B-ELISA could be a rapid, simple, safe, and economically attractive alternative to the VNT in assessing duck flocks’ immunity status and in epidemiological surveillance in multiple waterfowl species. IMPORTANCE NDRV disease is a new epidemic disease in waterfowl that first appeared in China. Compared with the classical DRV (CDRV), NDRV is associated with more severe symptoms, a higher mortality rate, and a broader host range. NDRV has become the prevalent genotype in China. At present, there are no commercially available diagnostic products for the NDRV disease. VNT, as the gold standard serologic test, is not only time-consuming and laborious, but also has high requirements for facilities and equipment, which is not suitable for clinical application. Conventional ELISA requires specific antispecies conjugates that are not currently available. B-ELISA not only has the advantage of higher analysis specificity, but also can be used to test specific antibodies against different waterfowl species, because no species-specific conjugates are required in such detection. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a B-ELISA for the detection of antibodies against NDRV in waterfowl species.

Background: Patients with pathological stage IA lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) are at risk of relapse. The value of the TNM staging system is limited in predicting recurrence. Our study aimed to develop a precise recurrence prediction model for stage IA LUAD. Materials and methods: Patients with pathological stage IA LUAD who received surgical treatment at Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University were retrospectively analyzed. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to create nomograms for recurrence-free survival (RFS). The predictive performance of the model was assessed using calibration plots and the concordance index (C-index). Results: The multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that CTR (0.75 < CTR ≤ 1; HR = 9.882, 95% CI: 2.036–47.959, p = 0.004) and solid/micropapillary-predominance (SMPP; >5% and the most dominant) (HR = 4.743, 95% CI: 1.506–14.933, p = 0.008) were independent prognostic factors of RFS. These risk factors were used to construct a nomogram to predict postoperative recurrence in these patients. The C-index of the nomogram for predicting RFS was higher than that of the eighth T-stage system (0.873 for the nomogram and 0.643 for the eighth T stage). The nomogram also achieved good predictive performance for RFS with a well-fitted calibration curve. Conclusions: We developed and validated a nomogram based on CTR and SMP patterns for predicting postoperative recurrence in pathological stage IA LUAD. This model is simple to operate and has better predictive performance than the eighth T stage system, making it suitable for selecting further adjuvant treatment and follow-up.

MXene materials have shown numerous useful mechanical and electronic properties, and have been found to possess nice potential in the field of optical modulation. Here, we fabricated a MXene Cr2C saturable absorber by the liquid-phase exfoliation method, and systemically analyzed the surface morphology and nonlinear properties of the Cr2C sample. Applying the Cr2C saturable absorber as a Q-switch in a thulium-doped yttrium aluminum perovskite (Tm: YAP) laser, the shortest single pulse was obtained with a width of 602 ns under an absorbed pump power of 3.3 W at a repetition rate of 55 kHz with a T = 1% output coupler. The maximum output power was obtained with a T = 5% output coupler at a repetition rate of 58 kHz. The obtained maximum pulse energy and peak power were 3.96 μJ and 4.36 W, separately, which reveal that the MXene Cr2C can be applied as a promising modulation material in the near-infrared pulsed lasers.

This study was based on similar physicochemical characteristics of pseudorabies virus (PRV) and African swine fever virus (ASFV). A cellular model for evaluation of disinfectants was established with PRV as an alternative marker strain. In the present study, we evaluated the disinfection performance of commonly used commercialized disinfectants on PRV to provide a reference for the selection of good ASFV disinfectants. In addition, the disinfection (anti-virus) performances for four disinfectants were investigated based on the minimum effective concentration, onset time, action time, and operating temperature. Our results demonstrated that glutaraldehyde decamethylammonium bromide solution, peracetic acid solution, sodium dichloroisocyanurate, and povidone-iodine solution effectively inactivated PRV at concentrations 0.1, 0.5, 0.5, and 2.5 g/L on different time points 30, 5, 10, and 10 min, respectively. Specifically, peracetic acid exhibits optimized overall performance. Glutaraldehyde decamethylammonium bromide is cost effective but requires a long action time and the disinfectant activity is severely affected by low temperatures. Furthermore, povidone-iodine rapidly inactivates the virus and is not affected by environmental temperature, but its application is limited by a poor dilution ratio such as for local disinfection of the skin. This study provides a reference for the selection of disinfectants for ASFV.

The Supreme People’s Court classifies admission into two types— complete admission and restrictive admission—according to the degree and scope of admission. Article 7 of the newly-revised Provisions of the Supreme People’s Court on Evidence in Civil Procedures provides clear rules for restrictive admission, which is divided into partial admission and conditional admission. In judicial practice, it is relatively easier to identify partial admission. However, the determination of conditional admission entails further considerations regarding whether there is a legal nexus between the attached condition and the admitted fact. Therefore, this study argues that there is a lack of unified rules regarding the applicability of restrictive admission in practice. Starting from the examples from the Supreme People’s Court, this study analyzed the application of conditional admission in judicial practice, as well as the problems and causes in the application of restrictive admission in practice. This article also explores the route to perfecting the rules of restrictive admission from the perspectives of its definition, classification, the onus probandi (burden of proof) and supporting mechanisms.

Goose astrovirus (GAstV) is an important pathogen causing visceral gout and high mortality in goslings, which has broken out and spread across China. In 2021, a disease characterized by urate deposition on the visceral surface and 30% mortality occurred in commercial adult Landaise geese in Zhejiang Province, China. A systematic study identified an infecting astrovirus, designated ZJCX, that was efficiently isolated from a diseased goose with a chicken hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (LMH). In contrast to other GAstVs originating from goslings, ZJCX caused cytopathogenic effects in LMH cells, and the crystalline arrangement of viral particles was observed through transmission electron microscopy. Indeed, phylogenetic analysis and nucleotide homology comparison revealed that ZJCX isolate belongs to the genotype II cluster of GAstVs and displays 97.8–98.4% identity with other GAstV II strains. However, several specific mutations occurred in the polyprotein and capsid protein regions. Moreover, a pathogenicity assessment of ZJCX with a gosling model was conducted, and typical visceral gout was reproduced and led to 18% mortality. The viral loads of ZJCX in the blood, kidney, and liver were detected with specific primers after inoculation, which demonstrated that the kidney and liver presented viral loads peaking at seven days post-inoculation (dpi). Biochemical parameter examination showed that AST, ALT, γ-GT, UA, and BUN levels were significantly increased by GAstV, whereas body weight was reduced. Overall, this study indicated that the GAstV isolate could infect adult geese, and the results regarding the viral loads and biochemical parameters induced by ZJCX provide insight into GAstV pathogenicity.

Novel duck reovirus (NDRV) is a newly identified reovirus that brings about more severe damage on multiple organs and mortality in various species of waterfowl. We previously characterized the transcriptomic profiles responding to NDRV in the bursa of Fabricius of Muscovy ducklings, which is a major immunological organ against virus infection. However, the molecular mechanisms of variant cell responses in the bursa of Fabricius to NDRV with different virulence is unclear. Here, we conducted a whole transcriptomic analysis to study the effects of two strains, HN10 (virulent NDRV) and JDm10 (artificially attenuated NDRV), on the bursa of Fabricius of Muscovy ducklings. We harvested a large number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of the bursa of Fabricius specially induced by HN10 and JDm10, and we found that HN10 induced DEGs enriched in differentiation and development in multiple organs beyond JDm10. Moreover, the ceRNA regulatory network also indicated the different connections among mRNA, lncRNA and miRNA. Interestingly, we further noticed that a population of differential expressed miRNA could particularly target to transcripts of HN10 and JDm10. We took miR-24 as an example and observed that miR-24 could reduce the transcription of GLI family zinc finger 3 (Gli3) and membrane-associated guanylate kinase, WW and PDZ domain containing 1 (Magi1) via recognition 3′ UTR of these two genes by a dual luciferase reporter gene assay in vitro. However, this effect could be compromised by HN10 infection or the ectopic over-expression of the putative miR-24 targeting regions in L1 and L3 fragments of HN10. Taken together, we examined and proposed a novel regulatory competitive mechanism between transcripts of NDRV and Muscovy ducklings for miRNA. These findings may advance the understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of NDRV in Muscovy ducklings, and help provide the potential targets for vaccine and drug development against NDRV.

The bursa of Fabricius is an immunologically organ against the invasion of duck reovirus (DRV), which is a fatal bird virus belonging to the Reoviridae family. However, responses of the bursa of Fabricius of Cairna moschata to novel DRV (NDRV) infection are largely unknown. Transcriptomes and proteomes of the samples from control and two NDRV strain (HN10 and JDm10) with different virulence were analyzed. Differentially expressed genes and differential accumulated proteins were enriched in the serine protease system and innate immune response clusters. Most of the immune-related genes were up-regulated under both JDm10/HN10 infections. However, the immune-related proteins were only accumulated under HN10 infection. For the serine protease system, coagulation factor IX, three chains of fibrinogen, and complements C8, C5, and C2s were significantly up-regulated by the HN10 infection, suggesting that the serine protease-mediated immune system might be involved in the resistance to NDRV infection. For the innate and adaptive immune system, RIG-I, MDA5, MAPK20, and IRF3 were significantly up-regulated, indicating their important roles against invaded virus. TLR-3 and IKBKB were only up-regulated in the liver cells, MAPK20 was only up-regulated in the bursa of Fabricius cells, and IRAK2 was only up-regulated in the spleen samples. Coagulation factor IX was increased in the bursa of Fabricius, not in the liver and spleen samples. The data provides a detailed resource for studying the proteins participating in the resistances of the bursa of Fabricius of duck to NDRV infections.

In February 2016, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council of China issued the “Several Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Further Strengthening the Management of Urban Planning and Construction”, stating that, in principle, closed residential areas will no longer be constructed and will be replaced by the promotion of the block system. This change in policy has aroused a great deal of controversy in various circles of society in China. In 2017, Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province, made an innovative attempt to implement “small block regulations.” In 2018, the first “block system” public rental housing district appeared in Beijing, the capital of China. These innovative practices have promoted the pace of block system reform in China, but in general, the implementation of block system reform is difficult. From the perspective of public opinion, it seems that many citizens misunderstand the block system. This may be due to the complex interactions among community environmental management, public security, privacy, and other factors where individual interests and public interests meet. This article, from the perspective of the protection of civil rights, analyses the advantages and disadvantages of the block system at the value level, distinguishes the differences between the block systems of China, the UK and the US and then puts forward the theory that the block system reforms for newly built and existing residences are different and should be implemented independently. Concerning the key point of the block system reforms, the “greater difficulty in the implementation of the block system reform in the existing residential quarters” is the proposal to expropriate the commonly owned internal roads and appropriately compensate the residents. Finally, to cope with the core issues effectively, this article advocates gradual implementation of the block system reforms in China, including legislation, policy transformation, cultural construction, and pilot trials to promote the success of the implementation.

Recent advances in consortium-scale genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have highlighted the involvement of common genetic variants in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), but our understanding of their etiologic roles, especially the interplay with rare variants, is incomplete. In this work, we introduce an analytical framework to quantify the transmission disequilibrium of genetically regulated gene expression from parents to offspring. We applied this framework to conduct a transcriptome-wide association study (TWAS) on 7,805 ASD proband-parent trios, and replicated our findings using 35,740 independent samples. We identified 31 associations at the transcriptome-wide significance level. In particular, we identified POU3F2 (p = 2.1E-7), a transcription factor mainly expressed in developmental brain. Gene targets regulated by POU3F2 showed a 2.7-fold enrichment for known ASD genes (p = 2.0E-5) and a 2.7-fold enrichment for loss-of-function de novo mutations in ASD probands (p = 7.1E-5). These results provide a novel connection between rare and common variants, whereby ASD genes affected by very rare mutations are regulated by an unlinked transcription factor affected by common genetic variations.

We report the surface morphology and the nonlinear absorption characteristics of MXene VCrC nanosheets prepared by the liquid-phase exfoliation method. The self-made MXene VCrC was applied as a saturable absorber in the Tm:YAP laser experiments, performing excellent Q-switching optical modulation characteristics in infrared range. With this absorber, a stable passively Q-switched 2 μm laser was achieved. Under an incident pump power of 3.52 W, a maximum output power of 280 mW was obtained with a T = 3% output coupler at a repetition frequency of 49 kHz. The corresponding pulse energy and peak power were 5.7 μJ and 6.6 W, respectively. The shortest pulse duration was 658 ns at the repetition rate of 63 kHz with a T = 1% output coupler.

The relationship between fault phenomenon and fault cause is always nonlinear, which influences the accuracy of fault location. And neural network is effective in dealing with nonlinear problem. In order to improve the efficiency of uncertain fault diagnosis based on neural network, a neural network fault diagnosis method based on rule base is put forward. At first, the structure of BP neural network is built and the learning rule is given. Then, the rule base is built by fuzzy theory. An improved fuzzy neural construction model is designed, in which the calculated methods of node function and membership function are also given. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of this method.

The aim of the present study was to determine the antioxidant activity of Coreopsis tinctoria flowering tops (CTFT). Studies were conducted to obtain suitable extraction conditions for chlorogenic acid, quercetin, luteolin, apigenin and kaempferol, which were identified and quantified by HPLC. Response surface methodology was employed to optimise the ultrasound-assisted extraction conditions including extraction time, ethanol concentration and liquid-solid ratio. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was analysed using various antioxidant models, such as DPPH, ABTS and hydroxyl radical scavenging assay. CTFT extracted for 15.0 min with ethanol at a concentration of 60.4 % and with liquidsolid ratio 27.5:1 possessed a considerable amounts of total flavonoids and polyphenols (18.9 %). This extract showed higher scavenging activity of ABTS and hydroxyl radical activity than rutin, however not in the DPPH test. We may assume that CTFT possess antioxidant and free radical scavenging potentials.

Pallet is an important tool in transportation, and its production raw materials show a diversified development trend. In order to design the structure of discarded glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) pallets, a static analysis was performed using ABAQUS. The pallet's structural parameters were used as variables, while the pallet mass and maximum stress were set as optimization objectives. An optimization experiment using DOE with ISIGHT was conducted to obtain a locally optimal solution. The DOE experimental results were fitted using a RBF model to obtain an approximate model. By applying the NSGA-II algorithm, the approximate model can be further optimized to achieve the optimal structure. The results showed that after optimizing through DOE, the pallet's mass increased by 9.2% and maximum stress decreased by 18.2%. Furthermore, after further optimization using the NSGA-II algorithm, the pallet's mass decreased by 1.2% and maximum stress decreased by 15.3%. Optimised design of the pallet structure was achieved.
