Nondestructive testing of plant roots is a hot topic in recent years. The traditional measurement process is time-consuming and laborious, and it is impossible to analyze the state of plant roots without destroying the sample. Recent studies have shown that as an excellent nondestructive measurement method, although electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) has made great achievements in many botanical research fields such as plant morphology and stress resistance, there are still limitations. This review summarizes the application of EIS in plant root measurement. The experiment scheme, instrument and electrode, excitation frequency range, root electrical characteristics, equivalent circuit, and combination of EIS and artificial intelligence (AI) are discussed. Furthermore, the review suggests that future research should focus on miniaturization of measurement equipment, standardization of planting environment and intelligentization of root diagnosis, so as to better apply EIS technology to in situ root nondestructive measurement.

The text introduced a system based on BP network for the prediction of grape disease. It included the design of a network structure, the selection of parameter for network study, the processing of sample data etc. With the use of BP network model, this system can forecast the extent of grape disease, so it is applicable to the conditions which have many influencing factors, complicated relationship, difficulty of analyze quantitatively and requirement of long-term prediction. Using this system to the prediction of grape disease in Zhuo Lu area Zhang Jia Kou city, the authors obtained a good effect, which is of value to the prediction of grape disease occurrence.

Considering the actual state of management in irrigated areas of our country, it is necessary to develop precision irrigation decision support system (DSS) of intelligence, which should be simple, convenient and easy to spread. This system adopts the optimization pattern based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) with two steps. The first step is to achieve the optimization of water allocation of the unitary crop in different growing periods. The second step is to achieve the optimization of water allocation of many kinds of crops. Moreover, combined with the expert system, it averts the limitations of Genetic algorithm (GA) effectively when used to solve the problem of partial searching. This system adopts MapInfo as the human-computer interface, which makes the decision visible and the system operational. In running structure, this decision support system (DSS) consists of five modules: the data acquisition module, the information management module, the simulate module of crop water allocation, the optimize module with Genetic algorithm (GA) and the display module of irrigated areas information. The research, development, popularization, application of this system will supply scientific management and optimize allocation for our country's northern areas lack of water.
