Background: Ozone can enhance the expression of some growth factors (GFs) in platelet rich plasma (PRP), recent study showed oxygen-rich PRP (ozonized PRP) have better therapeutic effects on bone and joint diseases. PRP injection has been widely used in the treatment of facial rejuvenation, but the efficacy of sufficient oxygen-rich PRP in facial rejuvenation has not been studied. Objective: Firstly, we examined whether ozone treatment can increase the concentration of GFs of PRP in vitro. And then a variety of subjective and objective detection methods were used to evaluate the effect of sufficient(10–12 mL each time for the injection of face and neck) oxygen-rich (ozonized PRP) PRP injection in facial rejuvenation by follow-up for 6 months. At last, we investigated the satisfaction, side effects and pain score of the treatment through a questionnaire survey. Methods: The concentration of main GFs in PRP treated with different dose of ozone in vitro was measured by ELISA. Clinical picture, the collagen thickness of dermis by reflectance confocal microscope(RCM), skin conditions (including spots, ultraviolet (UV) spots, brown spots, red area, pores, wrinkles, texture and porphyrin) by VISIA were collected before treatment and each month follow-up visit after treatment until 6-month follow-up period was finished. Patients’ satisfaction, side effects and pain score were collected at the end of follow-up period. Background: Brain injury often results in high mortality rates and significant sequelae following severe heatstroke (HS). Neuroinflammation aggravates HS-induced brain injury, yet the involvement of microglia in heat-induced neuroinflammation deserves further investigation. Methods: Our study investigated activation status, phenotype markers, production of pro-inflammatory cytokine and reactive oxygen species (ROS) of microglia both in vitro and in vivo under HS. Utilizing high-throughput sequencing, we identified SIRT1 as a potential modulator of microglia phenotype, and observed that SIRT1 alleviated severe heatstroke-induced brain injury following intraperitoneal administration of the SIRT1 agonist SRT-1720 and the inhibitor selisistat. Additionally, the effects of SRT-1720 and selisistat on mitochondrial dynamics and microglial phenotype transition were examined in BV2 cells in vitro. Results: Heatstroke promotes microglia activation, as evidenced by the increased production of pro-inflammatory cytokine and reactive oxygen species. High-throughput sequencing revealed elevated expression of SIRT1 in BV2 cells under HS. Upon inhibition of SIRT1 expression, there was a corresponding increase in pro-inflammatory cytokine, iNOS, and ROS expression in BV2 cells. In vivo experiments with the SIRT1 agonist SRT-1720 showed a mitigation of neuron injury under HS, as assessed by Nissl and HE staining. Activation of SIRT1 was associated with a reduction in mitochondrial injury and a decrease in the phosphorylation of mitochondrial fission protein Drp1ser616. Furthermore, the heat-induced activation of microglia was reversed by the Drp1 inhibitor, Mdivi. Conclusions: Our findings provided evidence that SIRT1 played a crucial role in inhibiting heat stress-induced microglial activation. By suppressing the phosphorylation of mitochondrial fission protein Drp1, SIRT1 contributed to the reduction of neuroinflammation and severity of heatstroke-induced brain injury.

Given post-operative aseptic loosening in orthopedic disease treatment, osteointegration occurs at the bone-implant interface as a holistic process, including immunoregulation (e.g., macrophage polarization), angiogenesis and osteogenesis in sequence. In order to achieve early rapid and satisfactory osseointegration, different nano-shaped (nanocone, nanopolyhedron and nanoflower abbr. NC, NP & NF) cerium oxide (CeO2-x) coatings, endowed with “nanozyme-like” activities for multiple free radical elimination and osteoimmunology regulation, were hydrothermally synthesized on titanium alloy (TC4). In vitro cell experiments showed that nano-CeO2-x coated TC4 not only induced polarization of RAW264.7 cells toward M2 phenotype, but also promoted angiogenesis and vascularization of endothelial cells along with differentiation and mineralization of osteogenic precursor cells. Improvements in M2-polarized macrophage, angiogenesis, and bone regeneration were further confirmed in a rat femoral condyle model. Among the above three nano-morphologies, NF exhibited the best osseoinetegration. RNA sequencing and mechanism exploration suggested that the inhibition of PI3K-AKT signaling pathway was essential for immunomodulatory capacity of NF. In conclusion, it provided promising insights into the immunomodulatory exploitation of orthopedic implants.

Abstract Background Occupational hazards occur in all walks of life. China’s horticulture industry is undergoing rapid development. However, the mental health of garden workers has not received much attention. This study investigates the mental health status and influencing factors of Chinese garden workers and provides a basis for promoting their mental health and ensuring the healthy development of Chinese horticulture. Methods A cross-sectional survey of garden workers in Beijing was conducted from 10 July 2021 to 10 October 2021. A total of 3349 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective response rate of 95.69%. Descriptive statistical analysis was carried out on the demographic characteristics, job satisfaction, stress, anxiety, and depression of garden workers, and the influencing factors affecting the mental health of Chinese garden workers were found through a t-test, variance analysis, and ordinal multi-class logistic regression analysis. Results Survey respondents were mostly male (54.4%) and under the age of 40 (64.1%). The anxiety and depression symptoms of the garden workers were moderate. Among staff members, 40.2% were in a normal state of stress. Gender, three meals on time, monthly income, and job satisfaction were the factors influencing stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms among garden workers. Conclusion Compared to medical staff and other groups, the stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms of Chinese garden workers are severe. Gender, monthly income, and job satisfaction are important factors affecting their mental health. Managers should continuously improve the working environment of garden workers, provide salaries that match their positions, and improve their job recognition and satisfaction to reduce the impact of negative emotions on personal health.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the performance of a clinical-radiomics model based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CE-CT) in assessing human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status in urothelial bladder carcinoma (UBC).MethodsFrom January 2022 to December 2023, 124 patients with UBC were classified into the training (n=100) and test (n=24) sets. CE-CT scans were performed on the patients. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to identify independent predictors of HER2 status in patients with UBC. We employed eight machine learning algorithms to establish radiomic models. A clinical-radiomics model was developed by integrating radiomic signatures and clinical features. Receiver operating characteristic curves and decision curve analysis (DCA) were generated to evaluate and validate the predictive capabilities of the models.ResultsAmong the eight classifiers, the random forest radiomics model based on CE-CT demonstrated the highest efficacy in predicting HER2 status, with area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.880 (95% CI: 0.813–0.946) and 0.814 (95% CI: 0.642–0.986) in the training and test sets, respectively. In the training set, the clinical-radiomics model achieved an AUC of 0.935, an accuracy of 0.870, a sensitivity of 0.881, and a specificity of 0.854. In the test set, the clinical-radiomics model achieved an AUC of 0.857, an accuracy of 0.760, a sensitivity of 0.643, and a specificity of 0.900. DCA analysis indicated that the clinical-radiomics model provided good clinical benefit.ConclusionThe radiomics nomogram demonstrates good diagnostic performance in predicting HER2 expression in patients with UBC.

Transverse mode control of laser intracavity oscillation is crucial for generating high-purity cylindrical vector beams (CVBs). We utilized the mode conversion and mode selection properties of two-mode long-period fiber gratings (TM-LPFGs) and two-mode fiber Bragg gratings (TM-FBGs) to achieve intracavity hybrid-mode oscillations of LP01 and LP11 from an all-few-mode fiber laser. A mode-locked pulse output with a repetition rate of 12.46 MHz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 53 dB was achieved with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) for mode-locking, at a wavelength of 1550.32 nm. The 30 dB spectrum bandwidth of the mode-locked pulse was 0.13 nm. Furthermore, a high-purity CVB containing radially polarized and azimuthally polarized LP11 modes was generated. The purity of the obtained CVB was greater than 99%. The high-purity CVB pulses have great potential for applications in optical tweezers, high-speed mode-division multiplexing communication, and more.

Ultrasonic technology has drawn extensive interests for its great potential in marine antifouling applications. However, its effects on the adhesion behavior of marine fouling organisms on marine structures remain underexplored. This work investigated how ultrasonic treatment impacted the adhesion of Pseudoalteromonas on a gel-like marine epoxy primer. And the process parameters for ultrasonic treatment were optimized using response surface analysis with Design-Expert software 11. The results revealed that ultrasonic treatment disrupted the cellular structure of Pseudoalteromonas, causing the deformation and fragmentation of the cell membrane, leading to bacterial death. Additionally, ultrasonic treatment reduced the particle size and Zeta potential value of Pseudoalteromonas, which disrupted the stability of bacterial suspensions. It also increased the relative surface hydrophobicity of Pseudoalteromonas cells, resulting in a reduction in adhesion to the gel-like marine epoxy primer. This study demonstrated that ultrasonic treatment significantly disturbed the adhesion behavior of microorganisms like Pseudoalteromonas on the gel-like marine epoxy primer, which provided an effective approach for controlling marine biofouling.

The high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin is still facing the issue of imbalance and inadequacy, and it urgently requires the backing and assistance of a well-coordinated and efficient comprehensive transportation network system. Based on this purpose, this study uses a composite system synergy degree model incorporating “mode dimension + regional dimension” to analyze the evolution of this network. The results indicate the following: (1) Railway and air transportation surpass highway transportation in growth and synergy, though overall system synergy is still low. (2) Downstream areas are gradually taking the lead, and the orderliness of each subsystem is gradually becoming consistent. The complexity and variability of the composite system’s synergy are high, with an overall low level of synergy. Overall, despite improvements in service capacity and quality, better integration of different transport modes and enhanced cross-regional cooperation are needed. This study reveals and analyzes in depth the complexity of the comprehensive transportation network system in the Yellow River Basin and its spatiotemporal characteristics of synergistic evolution. We propose suggestions for high-quality development at national, regional, and industry levels, fostering the continuous improvement of the system structure, which aids in overcoming the tangible obstacles faced by the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs), these minute yet mighty cellular messengers are redefining our understanding of a spectrum of diseases, from cancer to cardiovascular ailments, neurodegenerative disorders, and even infectious diseases like HIV. Central to cellular communication, EVs emerge as both potent facilitators and insightful biomarkers in immune response and the trajectory of disease progression. This review ventures deep into the realm of EVs in HIV-unraveling their pivotal roles in diagnosis, disease mechanism unravelling, and therapeutic innovation. With a focus on HIV, we will highlights the transformative potential of EVs in both diagnosing and treating this formidable virus. Unveiling the intricate dance between EVs and HIV, the review aims to shed light on novel therapeutic strategies that could significantly benefit HIV therapy, potentially even leading to the eradication of HIV.

This study addresses the critical problem of understanding the changing dynamics of glacier meltwater in Lake Mertzbakher, a challenge heightened by ongoing global climate change. Employing the innovative method of the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform, this research meticulously extracted surface water data at 60 time points during the years 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2021. This approach represents a significant advancement over previous methods by offering more frequent and precise data analysis. We incorporated meteorological factors such as temperature and precipitation to assess their influence on the monthly changes in the glacier lake area. Our findings indicate a pronounced outburst in July, leading to a substantial decrease in the lake’s area, which reaches its lowest in September. Through detailed partial regression analysis, we established a hierarchy of meteorological influences on the lake’s area, identifying minimum temperature (r = 0.245), mean temperature (r = −0.239), precipitation (r = 0.228), radiation (r = 0.154), and maximum temperature (r = 0.128) as key factors. Additionally, our use of a structural equation model unveiled the most impactful elements, with mean temperature (r = −3.320), minimum temperature (r = 2.870), radiation (r = 0.480), and precipitation (r = 0.470) leading the effects. These insights mark a substantial contribution to our understanding of glacier lake dynamics, offering crucial data for predicting and managing glacier lake floods. This study’s novel methodology and comprehensive analysis underscore its significance in enhancing disaster prevention and preparedness strategies amidst the challenges of global climate change.

Abstract Neuroinflammation is associated with poor outcomes in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI). Recent studies have demonstrated that stimulator of interferon genes (Sting) plays a key role in inflammatory diseases. However, the role of Sting in SCI remains unclear. In the present study, it is found that increased Sting expression is mainly derived from activated microglia after SCI. Interestingly, knockout of Sting in microglia can improve the recovery of neurological function after SCI. Microglial Sting knockout restrains the polarization of microglia toward the M1 phenotype and alleviates neuronal death. Furthermore, it is found that the downregulation of mitofusin 2 (Mfn2) expression in microglial cells leads to an imbalance in mitochondrial fusion and division, inducing the release of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), which mediates the activation of the cGas‐Sting signaling pathway and aggravates inflammatory response damage after SCI. A biomimetic microglial nanoparticle strategy to deliver MASM7 (named MSNs‐MASM7@MI) is established. In vitro, MSNs‐MASM7@MI showed no biological toxicity and effectively delivered MASM7. In vivo, MSNs‐MASM7@MI improves nerve function after SCI. The study provides evidence that cGas‐Sting signaling senses Mfn2‐dependent mtDNA release and that its activation may play a key role in SCI. These findings provide new perspectives and potential therapeutic targets for SCI treatment.

Abstract Objective Colon cancer (CC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide and has a poor prognosis. Surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy is the standard treatment strategy for stage III CC patients. Primary tumor location (PTL) is an important factor for the long-term survival of CC. However, the difference in the prognosis between the histological subtypes of mucinous adenocarcinoma (MAC) and nonspecific adenocarcinoma (AC) in stage III CC patients is unclear. The correlation of chemotherapy, PTL and histological subtype with the overall survival (OS) of stage III CC patients has not yet been explored. Methods Patients diagnosed with stage III CC from 2010 to 2016 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database were retrieved. The clinicopathological features and OS were analyzed according to the chemotherapy, PTL and histological subtype. Results A total of 28,765 eligible stage III CC patients were enrolled in this study. The results showed that chemotherapy, left-sided CC (LCC) and AC were favorable prognostic factors for OS. Right-sided CC (RCC) had worse OS than LCC regardless of chemotherapy. MAC had worse OS than AC in the patients with chemotherapy, but the survival benefits disappeared in the patients without chemotherapy. Additionally, in LCC, MAC had worse OS than AC regardless of chemotherapy. However, in RCC, MAC had worse OS than AC in patients with chemotherapy but had similar OS to AC in patients without chemotherapy. In the AC group, RCC had worse OS than LCC regardless of chemotherapy. In the MAC group, RCC had comparable OS to LCC regardless of chemotherapy. Four subgroups, i.e., RCC/MAC, RCC/AC, LCC/MAC and LCC/AC, all showed benefits from chemotherapy. Among them, LCC/AC had the best OS, and RCC/MAC had the worst OS compared with the other three subgroups. Conclusion The prognosis of MAC is worse than that of AC in stage III CC. LCC/AC has the best OS, while RCC/MAC has the worst OS but still benefits from chemotherapy. The impact of chemotherapy on survival is greater than that of histological subtype, but the impact of histological subtype on survival is similar to that of PTL.

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has been an alternative material for titanium in bone defect repair, but its clinical application is limited by its poor osseointegration. In this study, a porous structural design and activated surface modification were used to enhance the osseointegration capacity of PEEK materials. Porous PEEK scaffolds were manufactured via fused deposition modeling and a polydopamine (PDA) coating chelated with magnesium ions (Mg2+) was utilized on the surface. After surface modification, the hydrophilicity of PEEK scaffolds was significantly enhanced, and bioactive Mg2+ could be released. In vitro results showed that the activated surface could promote cell proliferation and adhesion and contribute to osteoblast differentiation and mineralization; the released Mg2+ promoted angiogenesis and might contribute to the formation of osteogenic H-type vessels. Furthermore, porous PEEK scaffolds were implanted in rabbit femoral condyles for in vivo evaluation of osseointegration. The results showed that the customized three-dimensional porous structure facilitated vascular ingrowth and bone ingrowth within the PEEK scaffolds. The PDA coating enhanced the interfacial osseointegration of porous PEEK scaffolds and the released Mg2+ accelerated early bone ingrowth by promoting early angiogenesis during the coating degradation process. This study provides an efficient solution for enhancing the osseointegration of PEEK materials, which has high potential for translational clinical applications.

BackgroundSmall bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA) is a rare condition often presenting with various non-specific gastrointestinal symptoms, making its diagnosis challenging. Delayed diagnosis is common, as patients may not receive the correct diagnosis until complications arise, necessitating further investigations. Furthermore, the management of SBA patients poses difficulties due to the scarcity of high-quality evidence.Case presentationIn this report, we present the case of an elderly man with SBA in the ileum who arrived at our emergency room with acute abdominal pain. The diagnosis was not made until the SBA caused a perforation, leading to acute abdominal pain. An emergent exploratory laparotomy revealed a 3 cm × 3 cm perforated tumor in the ileum, along with widespread metastatic nodules on the omentum, ascending colon, descending colon, and rectum. Postoperative pathological evaluation confirmed the diagnosis of SBA with peritoneal metastasis (pT4N2M1, stage IV). Following surgery, the patient received palliative systemic chemotherapy, which included the CapeOX regimen and the anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody bevacizumab. Remarkably, the patient responded well to this therapy, displaying good tolerance, and we observed no signs of disease progression. As of now, the patient is in good health and continuing with regular follow-up.ConclusionThe early diagnosis of small bowel adenocarcinoma remains a challenge. Delayed diagnosis can lead to a poor prognosis, underscoring the importance of considering SBA as a potential diagnosis for patients with unexplained abdominal pain and gastrointestinal symptoms. This case also highlights the efficacy of palliative chemotherapy with the CapeOX regimen combined with bevacizumab in controlling SBA.

Abstract Background Diabetes mellitus (DM) is considered to be an important factor for bone degeneration disorders such as bone defect nonunion, which is characterized by physical disability and tremendous economy cost to families and society. Exosomal miRNAs of BMSCs have been reported to participate in osteoblastogenesis and modulating bone formation. However, their impacts on the development of bone degeneration in DM are not yet known. The role of miRNAs in BMSCs exosomes on regulating hyperglycemia bone degeneration was investigated in the present study. Results The osteogenic potential in bone defect repair of exosomes derived from diabetes mellitus BMSCs derived exosomes (DM-Exos) were revealed to be lower than that in normal BMSCs derived exosomes (N-Exos) in vitro and in vivo. Here, we demonstrate that miR-140-3p level was significantly altered in exosomes derived from BMSCs, ADSCs and serum from DM rats. In in vitro experiments, upregulated miR-140-3p exosomes promoted DM BMSCs differentiation into osteoblasts. The effects were exerted by miR-140-3p targeting plxnb1, plexin B1 is the receptor of semaphoring 4D(Sema4D) that inhibited osteocytes differentiation, thereby promoting bone formation. In DM rats with bone defect, miR-140-3p upregulated exosomes were transplanted into injured bone and accelerated bone regeneration. Besides, miR-140-3p in the exosomes was transferred into BMSCs and osteoblasts and promoted bone regeneration by targeting the plexin B1/RohA/ROCK signaling pathway. Conclusions Normal-Exos and miR-140-3p overexpressed-Exos accelerated diabetic wound healing by promoting the osteoblastogenesis function of BMSCs through inhibition plexin B1 expression which is the receptor of Sema4D and the plexin B1/RhoA/ROCK pathway compared with diabetes mellitus-Exos. This offers a new insight and a new therapy for treating diabetic bone unhealing. Graphical Abstract

Abstract Background Alcohol dependence is a mental disorder with a high relapse rate. However, specific neuroimaging biomarkers have not been determined for alcohol dependence and its relapse. We conducted data-driven research to investigate resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) during early abstinence from alcohol dependence and its potential ability to predict relapse. Methods Participants included 68 alcohol-dependent patients and 68 healthy controls (HCs). The regional homogeneity (ReHo) and fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFF) were compared between the alcohol dependence group and the HCs and between the relapse group and the nonrelapse group. The brain regions that presented significantly different ReHo and/or fALFF between the alcohol-dependent patients and HCs and/or between the relapsed and nonrelapsed patients were selected as the seeds to calculate the functional connectivities (FCs). Results During a 6-month follow-up period, 52.24% of alcohol-dependent patients relapsed. A regression model for differentiating alcohol-dependent patients and HCs showed that reductions in ReHo in the left postcentral region, fALFF in the right fusiform region, and FC in the right fusiform region to the right middle cingulum were independently associated with alcohol dependence, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.841. The baseline FC of the left precentral to the left cerebellum of the relapse group was significantly lower than that of the nonrelapse group. The AUC of this FC to predict relapse was 0.774. Conclusions Our findings contribute to advancing research on the neurobiological etiology and predictive biomarkers for relapse associated with alcohol dependence.

Abstract Overlays have been extensively employed as an effective preservation or rehabilitation tool to extend the service life of concrete bridges and pavements, especially concrete slabs suffering from salt scaling and abrasion. However, limited attention has been paid to the durability and performance of these overlays which can be jeopardized when they are exposed to freeze/thaw and wet/dry cycles, deicer applications, studded tires, and their coupled effects. Various overlays feature different engineering properties, and they might be only effective in specific service environments but not in others, and research is lacking to examine their ability to adapt to different environments. This study subjected five overlay products on concrete slabs to the combined action of freeze/thaw (F/T) and wet/dry (W/D) cycles with periodical exposure to either 15 wt.% NaCl solution or 15 wt.% MgCl2 solution, to simulate the typical field scenarios in an accelerated manner. The bond strength, splitting tensile strength, and abrasion resistance of the overlaid concrete slabs were tested to evaluate the effectiveness of various overlays against the deicer scaling and the abrasion by studded tires. Based on the experimental data, this study demonstrated a multi-criteria decision-making method, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) combined with analytic hierarchy process (AHP), for the selection of optimal overlays in three different service scenarios (e.g., states of Washington and Oregon [USA] and British Columbia [Canada]). The analysis results indicate that one epoxy overlay exhibited the comprehensively best performance and could be a promising candidate in all three given scenarios, another polymer overlay took second place, while the adaptability of the three cement-based overlays varied in different environments. The present study concerned about the issue of optimal environmental tax under the assumption of heterogeneous productivity of firms when foreign direct investment (FDI) is allowed. A Melitz model was developed to calculate the effect of environmental tax on FDI when two governments adopt either a cooperative or a competitive strategy. The results showed that the impacts of environmental policy on FDI is different when different strategies are adopted by the governments. These differences in both strategies heavily depend on price effects and profit effects. In conclusion, in order to decide the optimal environmental tax, it is important to consider marginal benefits and costs on environmental investments.

BackgroundHuman papillomavirus (HPV) infection is an important carcinogenic infection highly prevalent among many populations. However, independent influencing factors and predictive models for HPV infection in both U.S. and Beijing females are rarely confirmed. In this study, our first objective was to explore the overlapping HPV infection-related factors in U.S. and Beijing females. Secondly, we aimed to develop an R package for identifying the top-performing prediction models and build the predictive models for HPV infection using this R package.MethodsThis cross-sectional study used data from the 2009–2016 NHANES (a national population-based study) and the 2019 data on Beijing female union workers from various industries. Prevalence, potential influencing factors, and predictive models for HPV infection in both cohorts were explored.ResultsThere were 2,259 (NHANES cohort, age: 20–59 years) and 1,593 (Beijing female cohort, age: 20–70 years) participants included in analyses. The HPV infection rate of U.S. NHANES and Beijing females were, respectively 45.73 and 8.22%. The number of male sex partners, marital status, and history of HPV infection were the predominant factors that influenced HPV infection in both NHANES and Beijing female cohorts. However, condom application was not an independent influencing factor for HPV infection in both cohorts. R package Modelbest was established. The nomogram developed based on Modelbest package showed better performance than the nomogram which only included significant factors in multivariate regression analysis.ConclusionCollectively, despite the widespread availability of HPV vaccines, HPV infection is still prevalent. Compared with condom promotion, avoidance of multiple sexual partners seems to be more effective for preventing HPV infection. Nomograms developed based on Modelbest can provide improved personalized risk assessment for HPV infection. Our R package Modelbest has potential to be a powerful tool for future predictive model studies.

BackgroundBrain injury is the main cause of poor prognosis in heatstroke (HS) patients due to heat-stress-induced neuronal apoptosis. However, as a new cross-talk way among cells, whether microglial exosomal-microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in HS-induced neuron apoptosis has not been elucidated.MethodsWe established a heatstroke mouse model and a heat-stressed neuronal cellular model on HT22 cell line. Then, we detected neuron apoptosis by histopathology and flow cytometry. The microglial exosomes are isolated by standard differential ultracentrifugation and characterized. Recipient neurons are treated with the control and HS exosomes, whereas in vivo, the exosomes were injected into the mice tail vein. The internalization of HS microglial exosomes by neurons was tracked. Apoptosis of HT22 was evaluated by flow cytometry and Western blot in vitro, TUNEL assay, and immunohistochemistry in vivo. We screened miR-466i-5p as the mostly upregulated microRNAs in HS exosomes by high-throughput sequencing and further conducted gene ontology (GO) pathway analysis. The effect and mechanism of HS exosomal miR-466i-5p on the induction of neuron apoptosis are demonstrated by nasal delivery of miR-466i-5p antagomir in vivo and transfecting miR-466i-5p mimics to HT22 in vitro.ResultsHS induced an increase in neurons apoptosis. Microglial exosomes are identified and taken up by neurons, which induced HT22 apoptosis in vivo and vitro. HS significantly changed the miRNA profiles of microglial exosomes based on high-throughput sequencing. We selected miR-466i-5p as a target, and upregulated miR-466i-5p induced neurons apoptosis in vivo and vitro experiments. The effects are exerted by targeting Bcl-2, activating caspase-3 to induce neurons apoptosis.ConclusionsWe demonstrate the effect of microglial exosomal miR-466i-5p on neurons apoptosis and reveal potentially Bcl-2/caspase-3 pathway in heatstroke.

ObjectiveInflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare disease. We reviewed data from eight patients diagnosed with pulmonary IMT (PIMT) at our hospital with the aim of summarizing and analyzing the characteristics of PIMT to improve our understanding of the disease.MethodsFrom January 2012 to December 2019, eight patients underwent surgical intervention for PIMT at The First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College. Resected tumors were subjected to pathological and immunohistochemical analyses. The follow-up duration for all patients ranged from 2 years and 3 months to 9 years and 9 months (median: 6 years and 9 months).ResultsThe male:female ratio was 5:3, and the mean age was 48.50 years (21–74 years). Two patients (25%) with lung disease discovered via chest computed tomography during physical examinations had not experienced any symptoms. Six patients (75%) presented at the hospital because of cough, expectoration, blood in sputum, and chest tightness. Lesions from all eight patients were surgically removed, and PIMT was confirmed based on pathological examinations and immunohistochemical results. No patient received additional treatment after discharge. All cases have been followed up to the time of writing, without any tumor recurrence or distant metastasis.ConclusionThe age of onset of PIMT is usually over 40 years, and its clinical symptoms are easily confused with those of lung cancer. PIMT can only be diagnosed by histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Complete surgical resection is the preferred treatment, as patients undergoing surgery require no additional treatment, such as chemotherapy, and the survival rate is good.

Renewable energy sources have been characterized by a persistent and rapid proliferation, which has resulted in a notable reduction in grid inertia over an extended period. There is a widely held belief that the primary source of inertia within the grid stems from generation-side conventional units. However, in power consumption, a significant number of induction motors are present, which can inherently offer rotational inertia by virtue of their kinetic energy. To investigate the influence of induction motors on grid inertia, in this paper, we propose two types of models, i.e., a detailed grid model and a dynamic equivalent model that considers multiple induction motors. Specifically, the detailed grid model with multiple induction motors is first established. However, the detailed model requires the specific parameters of induction motors, which are hard to acquire in large systems. Moreover, the accuracy of the model is unsatisfactory. To fill these gaps, the dynamic equivalent model (DEM) is further proposed to emulate the detailed model. Compared with the detailed model, the proposed dynamic equivalent model is structurally simple and does not require the specific parameters of induction motors. Therefore, it is possible to apply to large systems for investigating the influence of induction motors on grid frequency dynamics. A genetic algorithm is introduced in order to figure out the parameters of the proposed dynamic equivalent model from historical frequency data. The proposed detailed model and dynamic equivalent model are evaluated on the IEEE 9-bus system in MATLAB and SimPowerSystems toolbox.

Abstract Background Until January 18, 2021, coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has infected more than 93 million individuals and has caused a certain degree of panic. Viral pneumonia caused by common viruses such as respiratory syncytial virus, rhinovirus, human metapneumovirus, human bocavirus, and parainfluenza viruses have been more common in children. However, the incidence of COVID-19 in children was significantly lower than that in adults. The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical manifestations, treatment and outcomes of COVID-19 in children compared with those of other sources of viral pneumonia diagnosed during the COVID-19 outbreak. Methods Children with COVID-19 and viral pneumonia admitted to 20 hospitals were enrolled in this retrospective multi-center cohort study. A total of 64 children with COVID-19 were defined as the COVID-19 cohort, of which 40 children who developed pneumonia were defined as the COVID-19 pneumonia cohort. Another 284 children with pneumonia caused by other viruses were defined as the viral pneumonia cohort. The epidemiologic, clinical, and laboratory findings were compared by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and Contingency table method. Drug usage, immunotherapy, blood transfusion, and need for oxygen support were collected as the treatment indexes. Mortality, intensive care needs and symptomatic duration were collected as the outcome indicators. Results Compared with the viral pneumonia cohort, children in the COVID-19 cohort were mostly exposed to family members confirmed to have COVID-19 (53/64 vs. 23/284), were of older median age (6.3 vs. 3.2 years), and had a higher proportion of ground-glass opacity (GGO) on computed tomography (18/40 vs. 0/38, P

Switching circuits provide an interesting strategy for modularization construction of digital computing. Multi-step reactions on DNA origami template are essentially the same as switching circuits. Herein, DNA switch circuits(DSCs) based on binary tree is used to solve arbitrary digital computing. The establishment and implementation of DSCs is completed on DNA origami template. The nodes in the binary tree are mapped to hairpins on DNA origami template and the switches are mapped to the hairpins which is abundant in the solution. DSCs operate on the basis of a hybridization chain reaction on DNA origami substrates. The results are read using bulk fluorescence spectroscopic methods. Compared with multi input logic “AND” gate, the number of DNA strands (anchored hairpins and fuels) required by DSCs is reduced more than 33.33% and 66.67%, respectively. The DSCs are used to construct the full-subtractor and prime number discriminator, which indicates this strategy can construct arbitrary digital circuits.

Abstract The subcellular localization and intracellular trafficking of Toll‐like receptors (TLRs) critically regulate TLRs‐mediated antimicrobial immunity and autoimmunity. Here, it is demonstrated that the E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 inhibits the post‐endoplasmic reticulum (ER) trafficking of TLRs and TLRs‐mediated immune responses by catalyzing ubiquitination of the small GTPases RAB1A and RAB13. It is shown that the 14‐3‐3 chaperones bind to AKT1‐phosphorylated RNF115 and facilitate RNF115 localizing on the ER and the Golgi apparatus. RNF115 interacts with RAB1A and RAB13 and catalyzes K11‐linked ubiquitination on the Lys49 and Lys61 residues of RAB1A and on the Lys46 and Lys58 residues of RAB13, respectively. Such a modification impairs the recruitment of guanosine diphosphate (GDP) dissociation inhibitor 1 (GDI1) to RAB1A and RAB13, a prerequisite for the reactivation of RAB proteins. Consistently, knockdown of RAB1A and RAB13 in Rnf115+/+ and Rnf115−/− cells markedly inhibits the post‐ER and the post‐Golgi trafficking of TLRs, respectively. In addition, reconstitution of RAB1AK49/61R or RAB13K46/58R into Rnf115+/+ cells but not Rnf115−/− cells promotes the trafficking of TLRs from the ER to the Golgi apparatus and from the Golgi apparatus to the cell surface, respectively. These findings uncover a common and step‐wise regulatory mechanism for the post‐ER trafficking of TLRs.

BackgroundSelective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are the first-line pharmacotherapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), but a large proportion of patients do not achieve remission after an adequate SSRI trial. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no well-powered randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of sequenced pharmacotherapy using pragmatic research designs. China provides a unique context for undertaking such a trial that will recruit the largest treatment-naïve participants and systematically compare the efficacy of different sequenced pharmacotherapy.MethodsA pragmatic research design will be adopted, with n = 1,600 treatment-naïve OCD patients initially treated for sertraline for 12 weeks, and with non-remitters then randomized to 5 different augmentation or switching pharmacotherapy options for another 12 weeks. The 5 arms will include: (1) treatment with higher than usual doses of sertraline, (2) switch to fluvoxamine, (3) switch to venlafaxine, (4) augmentation with memantine, and (5) augmentation with aripiprazole.DiscussionChina is uniquely positioned to recruit sufficiently large sample sizes of treatment-naïve OCD patients to compare different pharmacotherapy options; data from the proposed trial promises to help inform current clinical practice guidelines by providing important information about optimal pharmacotherapy choice for those who demonstrate no response or response but no remission to first line pharmacotherapy.Trial RegistrationThe trail was registered on 27 August 2020 in ClinicalTrials.gov (https://register.clinicaltrials.gov/) (NCT04539951).

ObjectiveThe interleukin-8 (IL-8) has been reported to play an important role in depression, which might be modulated by the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate serum IL-8 levels, depressive symptom, and their associations in drug-free MDD patients, MDD patients with SSRIs, and healthy controls (HCs).MethodsFifty-seven drug-free MDD patients (male/female = 35/22, mean age: 39.24 years), 30 MDD patients with SSRIs (male/female = 11/19, mean age: 39.73 years), and 101 HCs (male/female = 52/49, mean age: 37.38 years) were recruited in this cross-sectional study. Serum IL-8 levels and depressive symptom were assessed using the Flow Cytometer and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD). The analysis of variance was used for the comparison between groups. The relationship between serum log10 IL-8 levels and HAMD score was analyzed by Pearson correlation.ResultsSerum log10IL-8 levels were lower in all patients than HCs after controlling for covariates (F = 4.86, p = 0.03). There was significant difference in serum Log10IL-8 levels among three groups after controlling for covariates (F = 14.63, p < 0.001). Serum Log10IL-8 levels in drug-free patients were lower compared to HCs (F = 19.38, p < 0.001) or patients with SSRIs (F = 21.89, p < 0.001) after controlling for covariates. However, there was not difference in serum log10IL-8 levels between patients with SSRIs and HCs after controlling for covariates. Moreover, serum Log10IL-8 levels were negatively correlated with HAMD score in all patients (r = −0.37, p = 0.02). Also, serum Log10IL-8 levels were negatively correlated with HAMD score in drug-free patients (r = −0.74, p = 0.01), but not in patients with SSRIs.ConclusionOur data supported that the decline in serum IL-8 levels was association with depression. Moreover, the SSRIs might modulate increased serum IL-8 levels of depression.

ObjectivesMetachronous liver metastasis (LM) significantly impacts the prognosis of stage I-III colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. An effective biomarker to predict LM after surgery is urgently needed. We aimed to develop deep learning-based models to assist in predicting LM in stage I-III CRC patients using digital pathological images.MethodsSix-hundred eleven patients were retrospectively included in the study and randomly divided into training (428 patients) and validation (183 patients) cohorts according to the 7:3 ratio. Digital HE images from training cohort patients were used to construct the LM risk score based on a 50-layer residual convolutional neural network (ResNet-50). An LM prediction model was established by multivariable Cox analysis and confirmed in the validation cohort. Discriminating between diabetic nephropathy (DN) and non-diabetic renal disease (NDRD) can help provide more specific treatments. However, there are no ideal biomarkers for their differentiation. Thus, the aim of this study was to identify biomarkers for diagnosing and predicting the progression of DN by investigating different salivary glycopatterns. Lectin microarrays were used to screen different glycopatterns in patients with DN or NDRD. The results were validated by lectin blotting. Logistic regression and artificial neural network analyses were used to construct diagnostic models and were validated in in another cohort. Pearson’s correlation analysis, Cox regression, and Kaplan–Meier survival curves were used to analyse the correlation between lectins, and disease severity and progression. Liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and bioinformatics analyses were used to identify corresponding glycoproteins and predict their function. Both the logistic regression model and the artificial neural network model achieved high diagnostic accuracy. The levels of Aleuria aurantia lectin (AAL), Lycopersicon esculentum lectin (LEL), Lens culinaris lectin (LCA), Vicia villosa lectin (VVA), and Narcissus pseudonarcissus lectin (NPA) were significantly correlated with the clinical and pathological parameters related to DN severity. A high level of LCA and a low level of LEL were associated with a higher risk of progression to end-stage renal disease. Glycopatterns in the saliva could be a non-invasive tool for distinguishing between DN and NDRD. The AAL, LEL, LCA, VVA, and NPA levels could reflect the severity of DN, and the LEL and LCA levels could indicate the prognosis of DN.

With the large-scale development of offshore wind power and the rapid development of smart grid, more and more attention has been paid to the stable operation of wind turbines under various conditions. In the actual operation process of wind turbines, there are inevitably many kinds of uncertain time delays, and also external or parameter disturbances, which affect the stable operation of wind turbines and make the system deviate from the original stable state. Based on Hamiltonian energy theory, the disturbance rejection of doubly fed wind turbines with multiple time delays is studied in this paper. Firstly, the doubly fed wind turbine is Hamiltonian realized to obtain its port controlled Hamiltonian with dissipation(PCH-D) model. Then, aiming at the PCH-D model, a multiple time delays controller is designed based on Casimir function, which can make wind turbines run stably under multiple time delays. Furthermore, based on the passive control theory, L2 gain disturbance rejection control technology is introduced to eliminate the steady-state error caused by external disturbance and improve the stability of wind turbines. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed controller can effectively solve the multiple time delays and disturbance problems in the system, and improve the stability and anti-interference of wind turbines.

The image encryption schemes combining chaotic maps, DNA coding, and DNA sequence operation can effectively protect the image. In this paper, a double-layer image encryption scheme is proposed by combining chaotic maps with DNA strand displacement (DSD). Chaotic maps are used to generate pseudorandom sequences and perform routine scrambling and diffusion operations on the plaintext image. We propose three DSD-based encryption rules according to the diversity of DNA strand displacement, and these three encryption rules are used to encrypt the image at the DNA sequence level. The plaintext image can be transformed into the cipher image, which is difficult to be recognized without the correct keys through the double-layer encryption at the level of chaotic maps and DNA. Simulation results and security analysis show that the proposed encryption scheme can effectively protect image information and resist conventional information attacks.

DNA logic gates are an important branch of DNA computing and have a wide range of applications in DNA computing. In this study, logic circuits of AND gate and NAND gate are built on origami substrate. The realization of AND gate uses polymerase strand displacement (PSD) reaction and hybridization chain reaction (HCR). If there is a fluorescent band “1” displayed, the result is true. The realization of the NAND gate requires a cyclic reaction. If there is a fluorescent band “A” or “T” displayed, the result is true; if no fluorescent band is displayed, the result is false.

The rapid development of the sensor equipment has promoted the rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT has been widely employed in the multidimensional signal processing and gradually formed the IoT networks. Mobile communication promotes the wide application of the IoT networks. In this study, the transmit antenna selection (TAS) scheme is employed to investigate the average symbol error probability (ASEP) performance of mobile IoT networks over the 2-Rayleigh channels. We first employ moment-generating function (MGF) approach to derive the exact ASEP expressions. We also investigate the outage probability (OP) performance and derive OP expressions. Employing the deep neural network (DNN), an OP intelligent prediction algorithm is proposed. Then, the numerical simulations are conducted to confirm the ASEP and OP performance analysis. The effect of different channel parameters is also analyzed. Compared with Nakagami and Rayleigh channel models, the 2-Rayleigh model has 83.6% and 59.1% increase in ASEP values, respectively. Compared with ELM and RBF models, the DNN model has 31.7% and 22.5% increase in OP prediction accuracy, respectively.

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) technology can greatly improve user access and spectral efficiency. This paper considers the power allocation optimization problem of a two-user mobile NOMA communication system. Firstly, a mobile NOMA communication system model is established. Then, we analyze the outage probability (OP) of mobile NOMA communication system and the relationship between OP performance and user power allocation coefficient. Finally, the optimization objective function is established, and a power allocation optimization algorithm employing monarch butterfly optimization (MBO) is proposed. Compared with firefly algorithm and artificial fish swarm algorithm, the efficiency of MBO algorithm is increased by 20.7%, which can better improve the OP performance.

Previous studies have found that the novel low-elastic-modulus Ti2448 alloy can significantly reduce stress shielding and contribute to better bone repair than the conventional Ti6Al4V alloy. In this study, the promotion of osteogenesis and angiogenesis by three-dimensionally printed Ti2448 were also observed in vivo. However, these were not significant in a series of in vitro tests. The stiffness of materials has been reported to greatly affect the response of macrophages, and the immunological regulation mediated by macrophages directly determines the fate of bone implants. Therefore, we designed more experiments to explore the role of three-dimensionally printed Ti2448 in macrophage activation and related osteogenesis and angiogenesis. As expected, we found a significant increase in the number of M2 macrophages around Ti2448 implants, as well as better osteogenesis and angiogenesis in vivo. In vitro studies also showed that macrophages pre-treated with Ti2448 alloy significantly promoted angiogenesis and osteogenic differentiation through increased PDGF-BB and BMP-2 secretion, and the polarization of M2 macrophages was enhanced. We deduced that Ti2448 promotes angiogenesis and osteogenesis through Piezo1/YAP signaling axis-mediated macrophage polarization and related cytokine secretion. This research might provide insight into the biological properties of Ti2448 and provide a powerful theoretical supplement for the future application of three-dimensionally printed Ti2448 implants in orthopaedic surgery.

Abstract Objectives Effective strategy for the treatment of depression is limited. This study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of botulinum toxin A (BoNT/A) in the treatment of depression. Methods Seventy‐six patients were assigned to the BoNT/A group (n = 52) and sertraline control group (n = 24). For the BoNT/A group, BoNT/A was injected into the frowning muscle, depressor muscle, occipital frontalis muscle, lateral canthus, and bilateral temporal region at 20 sites. Five units per site and a total of 100 units of BoNT/A were given. Patients in the sertraline control group were medicated with sertraline 50–200 mg (114.58 ± 52.08 mg) per day. Depression was assessed by the 17‐item Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD‐17), 14‐item Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA‐14), Self‐rating Depression Scale (SDS), and Self‐rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). All participants were followed up for 12 weeks. Results Scores of HAMD, HAMA, SDS, and SAS decreased significantly in both BoNT/A and sertraline groups after treatment for 12 weeks. Overall, there were no differences in decreased magnitude between the two groups (p > .05). The HAMA, SDS, and SAS results showed that the onset time of BoNT/A was earlier than that of sertraline. Side effects rates were 15.38% for BoNT/A and 33.33% for sertraline. Conclusion This study demonstrated significant antidepressant effects of BoNT/A. The efficacy of BoNT/A was comparable with established antidepressant sertraline. The onset time of BoNT/A was earlier than sertraline, and the proportion of side effects was less than sertraline. Therefore, BoNT/A could be a safe and effective option for the treatment of depression.

One contributor to the high mortality of osteosarcoma is its reduced sensitivity to chemotherapy, but the mechanism involved is unclear. Improving the sensitivity of osteosarcoma to chemotherapy is urgently needed to improve patient survival. We found that chemotherapy triggered apoptosis of human osteosarcoma cells in vitro and in vivo; this was accompanied by increased Sestrin2 expression. Importantly, autophagy was also enhanced with increased Sestrin2 expression. Based on this observation, we explored the potential role of Sestrin2 in autophagy of osteosarcoma. We found that Sestrin2 inhibited osteosarcoma cell apoptosis by promoting autophagy via inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress, and this process is closely related to the PERK-eIF2α-CHOP pathway. In addition, our study showed that low Sestrin2 expression can effectively reduce autophagy of human osteosarcoma cells after chemotherapy, increase p-mTOR expression, decrease Bcl-2 expression, promote osteosarcoma cell apoptosis, and slow down tumour progression in NU/NU mice. Sestrin2 activates autophagy by inhibiting mTOR via the PERK-eIF2α-CHOP pathway and inhibits apoptosis via Bcl-2. Therefore, our results explain one underlying mechanism of increasing the sensitivity of osteosarcoma to chemotherapy and suggest that Sestrin2 is a promising gene target.

With the increase in renewable energy penetration, the traditional synchronous generator is gradually replaced, resulting in the decrease in system inertia level and the weakening of frequency modulation capability. In addition to synchronous inertia, load inertia of asynchronous motors also widely exists in power systems, but its effect on system frequency stability has not been fully studied. To this end, based on the detailed model of asynchronous motor, the amplitude–phase motion equation based on potential after transient reactance is proposed, and then the phase motion equation of potential after transient reactance is derived to evaluate the equivalent inertia of asynchronous motor under electromechanical time scale. The equivalent inertia of asynchronous motor is studied theoretically by building the system frequency response model. The results show that the equivalent inertia of asynchronous motor can essentially improve the system frequency stability, while showing time-varying characteristics due to the combined effect of slip frequency and rotor speed. The analyses are validated with time-domain simulation results. The proposed method lays a foundation for mechanistic understanding of the frequency characteristics of the equivalent inertia of asynchronous motors affected by active and reactive power and its influence on the system frequency characteristics.

Fractional Galilei invariant advection–diffusion (GIADE) equation, along with its more general version that is the GIADE equation with nonlinear source term, is discretized by coupling weighted and shifted Grünwald difference approximation formulae and Crank–Nicolson technique. The new version of the backward substitution method, a well-established class of meshfree methods, is proposed for a numerical approximation of the consequent equation. In the present approach, the final approximation is given by the summation of the radial basis functions, the primary approximation, and the related correcting functions. Then, the approximation is substituted back to the governing equations where the unknown parameters can be determined. The polynomials, trigonometric functions, multiquadric, or the Gaussian radial basis functions are used in the approximation of the GIADE. Moreover, a quasilinearization technique is employed to transform a nonlinear source term into a linear source term. Finally, three numerical experiments in one and two dimensions are presented to support the method.

Abstract This article reflects on some radical changes made in mental health services in China which include the implementation of the initial triage system and the special isolation ward, the early screening and testing for both patients and staff, the smaller teams working on rotating shifts on-site, and the adequate provision of PPE. These measures would be of great value as a reference to the effective delivery of mental health services in other countries through this pandemic.

Abstract Background Cognitive deficits are common in patients with bipolar disorder (BD). Abnormal high density lipoprotein (HDL) levels have been implicated in cognitive deficits associated with ageing and neurodegenerative disorders. The present study aimed to investigate serum HDL levels, cognitive deficits and their association in patients with BD. Methods Thirty-seven patients with BD and 37 gender- and age-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited in a case–control study. Cognition was assessed using the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS), and serum HDL levels were measured using enzymatic colourimetry. Results There was no difference in serum HDL levels between patients with BD and HCs after adjusting for gender, age, education and body mass index (BMI). Cognitive test scores in patients with BD were significantly lower than those in HCs except for the visuospatial/constructional index after adjusting for confounding variables. Serum HDL levels were positively correlated with RBANS total score and language score in patients with BD. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that serum HDL levels were significantly correlated with RBANS total score and subscale scores on immediate memory and language in patients with BD after adjusting for confounding factors. Conclusions Our findings suggest that patients with BD had poorer cognitive performance than HCs except for the visuospatial/constructional domain, and decreased serum HDL levels were correlated with cognitive deficits, especially in immediate memory and language domains in patients with BD.

Abstract Background Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a heritable, refractory, and devastating psychiatric disorder. Previous studies have shown that the variants of CUB and sushi multiple domains 1 (CSMD1) demonstrate significant genome-wide association with SCZ. However, few studies have been conducted on the effect of antipsychotics on the expression levels of CSMD1. This study explored whether a change occurs in the expression of the CSMD1 gene before and after antipsychotic treatment in SCZ patients. Methods The study population comprised Han Chinese patients from eastern China, including 32 SCZ patients and 48 healthy controls. The expression of CSMD1 before and after treatment in the SCZ group and between the two groups was analyzed using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Results The expression levels of the CSMD1 gene in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of SCZ patients were lower than those in the healthy controls. Salt-containing emission of flue gas after coal-fired wet flue gas desulfurization is one of the reasons for large-scale haze in China. The problems in wet desulfurization of coal-fired flue gas were analyzed. The present situation of 'bleaching' and coloured plume management technology was introduced, it is necessary to objectively evaluate the 'bleaching' effect of flue gas from the aspects of investment cost, operation cost and emission index. Dry and efficient desulfurization technology should be researched and developed to reduce the emission of water vapor, flue gas and salt economically and practically, and reduce the haze.

Camera identification has recently attracted considerable attention in the image forensic field of research. Several algorithms have been established based on the hand-crafted features and deep learning, through analysis of the traces achieved by the digital image acquisition process. Although these approaches have led to a breakthrough in the image forensics, some important problems still remain unsolved. For instance, extracting the hand-crafted features with human efforts is a difficult and time-consuming process, while data-driven deep learning methods tend to learn features that represent image contents rather than cameras' characteristics. To fully take advantages of both hand-crafted and data-driven technologies, we propose a domain knowledge-driven method, which consists of one pre-processing module, one feature extractor, and one hierarchical multi-task learning procedure. The pre-processing module can introduce the domain knowledge to the subsequent deep learning network. Moreover, for device-level identification, hierarchical multi-task learning can provide more supervise information from the brand and model. The proposed framework is evaluated on three different tasks, i.e., the brand, model, and device-level identification using original and manipulated images. Our classification results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective and robust. To evaluate the robustness of the proposed method, we create a new database for the cell-phone identification and evaluate the proposed method. It is found that the accuracy of the cell-phone device identification can reach 84.3%, which is much higher than that of the camera identification. Moreover, the t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding visualization results confirm that the features of different cell-phone devices are visually more separable than cameras.
