Different types of tourist attractions offer different experiences to tourists, which affect their price perceptions and purchase decisions.Methods: This study combined questionnaires and event-related potentials (ERPs) measures to explore the magnitude of psychological conflict and the degree of emotional arousal that consumers experience when faced with different prices of goods in different scenic types.Results: The questionnaire results showed that attraction type influenced consumers’ price perceptions and that consumers were willing to pay higher prices for products in attractions. The ERP results implied that in the early stage of cognition, attraction type did not affect consumers’ perceptual processing, while price information attracted consumers’ cognitive attention. In the late stage of cognition, attraction type, and price information jointly influenced consumers’ decision-making, and consumers tended to accept high prices of products in entertainment attractions and cultural attractions, but consumers were more sensitive to the price of products in cultural attractions and less tolerant to price increases.Conclusion: The study elucidated how price information influenced consumers’ purchase decisions of tourism products at different stages of the dual-process theory, which can assist tourism managers in devising different pricing strategies and positioning strategies based on the attributes of attractions, to enhance product sales and revenues. The biochemical variables and anthropometric variables of the study participants were evaluated. Plasma BChE level was measured by DGKC method.Results: OB was associated with a higher prevalence of upper strata plasma BChE levels when compared with the BChE levels in UW, NW, and OW group. A logistic regression analysis showed that plasma BChE was positively associated with the OB group when compared with the NW group. Boys in the OW group, but not the OB group, had a significantly higher prevalence of upper stratum of BChE levels. Plasma triglyceride, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, and ApoB levels were positively associated with the upper stratum of BChE levels when compared with lower stratum. MetS and most of its components were more prevalent among subjects with upper stratum rather than lower stratum BChE levels. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of visual impairment on return to work for vocational rehabilitation (VR) consumers with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Individuals with TBI between the ages of 18 and 67 who received services from state-federal VR agencies were included in the sample. Hierarchical generalized linear modeling was used to identify factors that predict employment following TBI. Visual impairment caused by TBI (VI-TBI) was the primary independent variable of interest and competitive employment at case closure was the outcome measure. VI-TBI was negatively associated with obtaining employment. Other predictors of employment for those with TBI were also identified. Abstract Background Diabetic macroangiopathy has been the main cause of death and disability in diabetic patients. The mechanisms underlying smooth muscle cell transformation and metabolic reprogramming other than abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism remain to be further explored. Method Single-cell transcriptome, spatial transcriptome and spatial metabolome sequencing were performed on anterior tibial artery from 11 diabetic patients with amputation. Multi-omics integration, cell communication analysis, time series analysis, network analysis, enrichment analysis, and gene expression analysis were performed to elucidate the potential molecular features. Result We constructed a spatial multiomics map of diabetic blood vessels based on multiomics integration, indicating single-cell and spatial landscape of transcriptome and spatial landscape of metabolome. At the same time, the characteristics of cell composition and biological function of calcified regions were obtained by integrating spatial omics and single cell omics. On this basis, our study provides favorable evidence for the cellular fate of smooth muscle cells, which can be transformed into pro-inflammatory chemotactic smooth muscle cells, macrophage-like smooth muscle cells/foam-like smooth muscle cells, and fibroblast/chondroblast smooth muscle cells in the anterior tibial artery of diabetic patients. The smooth muscle cell phenotypic transformation is driven by transcription factors net including KDM5B, DDIT3, etc. In addition, in order to focus on metabolic reprogramming apart from abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism, we constructed a metabolic network of diabetic vascular activation, and found that HNMT and CYP27A1 participate in diabetic vascular metabolic reprogramming by combining public data. Conclusion This study constructs the spatial gene-metabolism map of the whole anterior tibial artery for the first time and reveals the characteristics of vascular calcification, the phenotypic transformation trend of SMCs, and the transcriptional driving network of SMCs phenotypic transformation of diabetic macrovascular disease. In the perspective of combining the transcriptome and metabolome, the study demonstrates the activated metabolic pathways in diabetic blood vessels and the key genes involved in diabetic metabolic reprogramming. Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by massive neuronal loss in the brain. Both cortical glutamatergic neurons and basal forebrain cholinergic neurons (BFCNs) in the AD brain are selectively vulnerable. The degeneration and dysfunction of these two subtypes of neurons are closely associated with the cognitive decline of AD patients. The determination of cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in AD pathogenesis, especially in the early stage, will largely facilitate the understanding of this disease and the development of proper intervention strategies. However, due to the inaccessibility of living neurons in the brains of patients, it remains unclear how cortical glutamatergic neurons and BFCNs respond to pathological stress in the early stage of AD. In this study, we established in vitro differentiation systems that can efficiently differentiate patient-derived iPSCs into BFCNs. We found that AD-BFCNs secreted less Aβ peptide than cortical glutamatergic neurons did, even though the Aβ42/Aβ40 ratio was comparable to that of cortical glutamatergic neurons. To further mimic the neurotoxic niche in AD brain, we treated iPSC-derived neurons with Aβ42 oligomer (AβO). BFCNs are less sensitive to AβO induced tau phosphorylation and expression than cortical glutamatergic neurons. However, AβO could trigger apoptosis in both AD-cortical glutamatergic neurons and AD-BFCNs. In addition, AD iPSC-derived BFCNs and cortical glutamatergic neurons exhibited distinct electrophysiological firing patterns and elicited different responses to AβO treatment. These observations revealed that subtype-specific neurons display distinct neuropathological changes during the progression of AD, which might help to understand AD pathogenesis at the cellular level.

Abstract Backgroundː Stroke, primarily resulting from ischemic conditions, is the foremost cause of mortality and long-term impairment and is frequently associated with narrowing of the carotid arteries. Although carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is the treatment of choice, it carries the risk of cerebral ischemia and reduced blood flow. Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound offers a nonintrusive method to assess cerebral blood circulation during CEA, potentially enhancing surgical outcomes. The objective of this study was to assess the clinical utility and safety of TCD monitoring during CEA and to identify factors influencing postoperative complications. Methods This retrospective analysis included 158 CEA patients (from January 2021–August 2023) who underwent TCD monitoring and whose data were compared to historical standard care data. The primary outcomes were operation duration and artery occlusion time. Secondary outcomes included carotid shunt usage, seven-day postoperative complications, and six-month carotid artery patency. Logistic regression identified factors linked to adverse reactions, and a predictive model was evaluated with a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Abstract Background Chemotherapy remains the standard first-line treatment for pancreatic adenocarcinoma, but with limited efficacy. We aimed to explore the feasibility of adding the PARP inhibitor fuzuloparib to mFOLFIRINOX in the locally advanced/metastatic (LA/M) setting. Methods This was the dose-escalation and -expansion, phase 1b portion of a phase 1b/2 study. Patients were given oral fuzuloparib at escalating doses starting at 30 mg twice daily (BID) plus intravenous mFOLFIRINOX q2w for 8–12 cycles, followed by maintenance fuzuloparib at 150 mg BID. Cohorts at the maximal tolerated dose (MTD) and lower dose of fuzuloparib were expanded. Primary endpoints were dose-limiting toxicity (DLT), MTD, and recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D). Results As of data cutoff on Jan 15, 2023, 39 patients were recruited. 12 patients were enrolled during dose escalation (30 mg [n = 4]; 60 mg [n = 6]; 100 mg [n = 2]). DLT occurred in 1 patient in 60 mg cohort and 1 patient in 100 mg cohort. 60 mg BID was determined to be the MTD, and then 60 and 30 mg cohorts were expanded to 22 and 15 patients, respectively. The most common grade ≥ 3 treatment-related adverse events were hematologic toxicities. Efficacy in 60 mg cohort seemed to be most favorable, with an objective response rate of 50.0% (95% CI, 26.0–74.0) and disease control rate of 94.4% (95% CI, 72.7–99.9). Conclusions First-line fuzuloparib plus mFOLFIRINOX followed by maintenance fuzuloparib was generally safe and showed encouraging anti-tumor activity in patients with LA/M pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The RP2D of fuzuloparib combination was 60 mg BID. Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04228601.

Abstract Near-infrared (NIR) phosphors based on Cr3+ doped garnets present great potential in the next generation of NIR light sources. Nevertheless, the huge searching space for the garnet composition makes the rapid discovery of NIR phosphors with high performance remain a great challenge for the scientific community. Herein, a generalizable machine learning (ML) strategy is designed to accelerate the exploration of innovative NIR phosphors via establishing the relationship between key parameters and emission peak wavelength (EPW). We propose a semi-supervised co-training model based on kernel ridge regression (KRR) and support vector regression (SVR), which successfully establishes an expanded dataset with unlabeled dataset (previously unidentified garnets), addressing the overfitting issue resulted from a small dataset and greatly improving the model generalization capability. The model is then interpreted to extract valuable insights into the contribution originated from different features. And a new type NIR luminescent material of Lu3Y2Ga3O12: Cr3+ (EPW~750 nm) is efficiently screened, which demonstrates a high internal (external) quantum efficiency of 97.1% (38.8%) and good thermal stability, particularly exhibiting promising application in the NIR phosphor-converted LEDs (pc-LED). These results suggest the strategy proposed in this work could provide new viewpoint and direction for developing NIR luminescence materials.

Chest pain is a common presenting complaint among patients visiting primary care1 and is a frequent reason for referral to the outpatient cardiology clinic. The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) guidelines advocate estimating pre-test probability (PTP) of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) in the evaluation of stable chest pain in order to guide the need for and type of downstream investigations.2,3 The PTP of obstructive CAD depends on the clinical characteristics of the patient and disease prevalence. Since the introduction of the Diamond-Forrester model in 1979,4 contemporary risk scores, such as the CAD consortium score5 (CCS) and the ESC 2019 PTP risk score,2 have been developed.

Abstract Purpose Bone and joint tuberculosis (BJTB) is a distinct variant of tuberculosis in which clinical diagnosis often leads to relative misdiagnosis and missed diagnoses. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the targeted nanopore sequencing (TNPseq) assay for BJTB patients in China. Method The study enrolled a cohort of 163 patients with suspected BJTB. Diagnostic testing was performed using the TNPseq assay on samples including punctured tissue, pus, and blood. The diagnostic accuracy of the TNPseq assay was then compared with that of the T-SPOT and Xpert MTB/RIF assays. Result TNPseq exhibited superior performance in terms of accuracy, demonstrating a sensitivity of 76.3% (95% CI: 71.0-81.6%) and a specificity of 98.8% (95% CI: 93.5–100%) in clinical diagnosis. When evaluated against a composite reference standard, TNPseq demonstrated a sensitivity of 74.4% (95% CI: 69.3–79.5%) and a specificity of 98.8% (95% CI: 93.7–100%). These results exceed the performance of both the T-SPOT and Xpert MTB/RIF tests. Notably, TNPseq demonstrated high specificity and accuracy in puncture specimens, with a sensitivity of 75.0% (95% CI: 70.2–79.8%) and a specificity of 98.3% (95% CI: 92.7–100%), as well as in pus samples, with a sensitivity of 83.3% (95% CI: 78.6–88.1%) and a specificity of 100% (95% CI: 100–100%). Additionally, TNPseq facilitated the detection of mixed infection scenarios, identifying 20 cases of bacterial-fungal co-infection, 17 cases of bacterial-viral co-infection, and two cases of simultaneous bacterial-fungal-viral co-infection. Conclusion TNPseq demonstrated great potential in the diagnosis of BJTB due to its high sensitivity and specificity. The ability of TNPseq to diagnose pathogens and detect drug resistance genes can also guide subsequent treatment. Expanding the application scenarios and scope of TNPseq will enable it to benefit more clinical treatments.

Abstract Sowing date and soil fertility are very important factors in the overwintering and production performance of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), yet there’s a knowledge gap in knowledge on how late-seeded alfalfa responds to phosphorus (P) fertilization. A field study was conducted in Inner Mongolia from 2020 to 2022 using a split-plot design. The main plots consisted of five sowing dates (31 July, 8, 16, and 24 August, and 1 September), while the subplots involved five P application rates (0, 40, 70, 100, and 130 kg P2O5 ha−1). Throughout the growing seasons, the overwintering rate, root traits, forage yield, and yield components were measured. The results revealed a consistent decrease in overwintering ability and productivity with the delayed sowing. This reduction in overwintering rate was mainly due to diminished root traits, while the decrease in forage yield was largely associated with a reduction in plants per square meter. However, P fertilizer application to late-seeded alfalfa demonstrated potential in enhancing the diameter of both the crown and taproot, thus strengthening the root system and improving the overwintering rate, the rate of increase ranges from 11.6 to 49%. This adjustment could also improve the shoots per square meter and mass per shoot, increasing by 9.4–31.3% and 15.0–27.1% respectively in 2 years, which can offset the decline in forage yield caused by late sowing and might even increase the forage yield. Regression and path analysis indicated that alfalfa forage yield is primarily affected by mass per shoot rather than shoots per square meter. This study recommended that the sowing of alfalfa in similar regions of Inner Mongolia should not be later than mid-August. Moreover, applying P fertilizer (P2O5) at 70.6–85.9 kg ha−1 can enhance the forage yield and persistence of late-seeded alfalfa. Therefore, appropriate late sowing combined with the application of P fertilizer can be used as an efficient cultivation strategy for alfalfa cultivation after a short-season crop harvest in arid and cold regions.

Abstract Resistance to radiotherapy is a major barrier during cancer treatment. Here using genome-scale CRISPR/Cas9 screening, we identify CD274 gene, which encodes PD-L1, to confer lung cancer cell resistance to ionizing radiation (IR). Depletion of endogenous PD-L1 delays the repair of IR-induced DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) and PD-L1 loss downregulates non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) while overexpression of PD-L1 upregulates NHEJ. IR induces translocation of PD-L1 from the membrane into nucleus dependent on deglycosylation of PD-L1 at N219 and CMTM6 and leads to PD-L1 recruitment to DSBs foci. PD-L1 interacts with Ku in the nucleus and enhances Ku binding to DSB DNA. The interaction between the IgC domain of PD-L1 and the core domain of Ku is required for PD-L1 to accelerate NHEJ-mediated DSB repair and produce radioresistance. Thus, PD-L1, in addition to its immune inhibitory activity, acts as mechanistic driver for NHEJ-mediated DSB repair in cancer.

Abstract Objective The nutritional status and inflammatory responses of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) play a vital prognostic role. We investigated the relationship between preoperative prognostic nutritional index (PNI)、neutrophil/albumin ratio (NAR)、platelet/albumin ratio (PAR) and other factors and the clinical prognosis of patients who underwent clipping for aSAH and its predictive model. Methods The clinical data of 212 patients with aSAH who underwent neurosurgery at Nanyang Central Hospital between 2018 and 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) score at 6 months postoperatively, the patients were categorized into two groups: poor (GOSI-III) and good (GOSIV-V) prognosis groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the predictive value of preoperative PNI、NAR、PAR、hyperlipidemia and Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) for prognosis. Furthermore, nomograms and prognostic prediction models were constructed. Receiver operating characteristic curves and area under the curve (AUC) were utilized to determine the predictive values. Results Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that PNI (OR = 1.250, 95%CI 1.060 ~ 1.475, P = 0.008), NAR (OR = 0.000, 95%CI 0.000 ~ 0.004, P = 0.000), PAR(OR = 0.515, 95%CI 0.283 ~ 0.937, P = 0.030), hyperlipidemia (OR = 4.627, 95%CI 1.166 ~ 18.367, P = 0.029), and GCS(OR = 1.446, 95%CI 1.041 ~ 2.008, P = 0.028) are independent risk factors for poor postoperative prognosis. The total score of the nomogram was 200, and the AUC value was 0.972. Conclusions PNI and NAR can reflect the nutritional status and inflammatory responses of patients.They are significantly associated with the postoperative prognosis of patients with aSAH. Comprehensively analyzing PNI and NAR combined with other clinical indicators can more effectively guide treatment and help predict prognosis.

In order to satisfy the application requirements for strength and toughness of hydropower steels for large pumped storage power plants. In this study, based on the synergy of deformation and phase transition, the trade-off between strength and toughness was broken, and the GPa-grade nano-precipitated steel was prepared by direct quenching and tempering. The effects of Nb–V–Ti composite nano-precipitation behavior and martensite variant selectivity on the strengthening and toughening mechanisms were highlighted. The results show that directly quenched steel has the optimal comprehensive mechanical properties after tempering at 550 °C. Combining the contributions of various strengthening mechanisms, the increase in the yield strength relative to off-line quenching and tempering is mainly attributed to additional dislocation strengthening (∼33 MPa) and precipitation strengthening (∼174 MPa). Direct quenching enhances the homogeneous nucleation of finer mono- and binary precipitates and their stable growth during tempering, while the ternary precipitates do not suffer from elemental inhomogeneities due to lack of re-dissolution. Furthermore, the high-frequency variants of the dominant close-packed plane group tend to form high-angle grain boundaries with different orientations and planar alignments, derived from the refinement of Bain groups induced by the self-plasticity modulation of martensite transition due to the accumulation of deformed geometrically necessary dislocations and finite dislocation slip.

A majority of the planets in the Solar System are characterized by intrinsic magnetic fields that co-rotate with these celestial bodies. With ongoing advances in human deep-space exploration, magnetic field models have been established for all known Solar System bodies with intrinsic magnetic fields. Planetary magnetic field modeling serves as a fundamental basis for a diverse range of research objectives, including investigations of planetary internal dynamical processes, examinations of planetary evolutionary histories, determinations of the interactions between planetary magnetic fields and the solar wind, and estimations of the shielding effects of planetary magnetic fields against high-energy charged particles. Furthermore, the modeling of planetary magnetic fields represents an interdisciplinary research endeavor, encompassing aspects such as the theories of magnetic field modeling, separation of internal and external magnetic field sources, parameter inversion methods, and equation optimization. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of the progress in magnetic field modeling for the Earth, other planets in the Solar System, and also the Moon and Ganymede, one of Jupiter’s moon. We describe the characteristics of the intrinsic magnetic fields of planets and present details of the most accurate global magnetic field models for Solar System planets. Starting with mathematical modeling methods for planetary magnetic fields, we outline the development of magnetic field modeling techniques since the era of Gauss and identify the current hot topics in this field. The review concludes with a forward-looking perspective on the trends in magnetic field modeling research and the potential contributions of China’s future deep-space exploration to the study of planetary magnetic fields.

Abstract Background Silicosis is an irreversible fibrotic disease of the lung caused by chronic exposure to silica dust, which manifests as infiltration of inflammatory cells, excessive secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and pulmonary diffuse fibrosis. As the disease progresses, lung function further deteriorates, leading to poorer quality of life of patients. Currently, few effective drugs are available for the treatment of silicosis. Bicyclol (BIC) is a compound widely employed to treat chronic viral hepatitis and drug-induced liver injury. While recent studies have demonstrated anti-fibrosis effects of BIC on multiple organs, including liver, lung, and kidney, its therapeutic benefit against silicosis remains unclear. In this study, we established a rat model of silicosis, with the aim of evaluating the potential therapeutic effects of BIC. Methods We constructed a silicotic rat model and administered BIC after injury. The FlexiVent instrument with a forced oscillation system was used to detect the pulmonary function of rats. HE and Masson staining were used to assess the effect of BIC on silica-induced rats. Macrophages-inflammatory model of RAW264.7 cells, fibroblast-myofibroblast transition (FMT) model of NIH-3T3 cells, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) model of TC-1 cells were established in vitro. And the levels of inflammatory mediators and fibrosis-related proteins were evaluated in vivo and in vitro after BIC treatment by Western Blot analysis, RT-PCR, ELISA, and flow cytometry experiments. Results BIC significantly improved static compliance of lung and expiratory and inspiratory capacity of silica-induced rats. Moreover, BIC reduced number of inflammatory cells and cytokines as well as collagen deposition in lungs, leading to delayed fibrosis progression in the silicosis rat model. Further exploration of the underlying molecular mechanisms revealed that BIC suppressed the activation, polarization, and apoptosis of RAW264.7 macrophages induced by SiO2. Additionally, BIC inhibited SiO2-mediated secretion of the inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and TGF-β1 in macrophages. BIC inhibited FMT of NIH-3T3 as well as EMT of TC-1 in the in vitro silicosis model, resulting in reduced proliferation and migration capability of NIH-3T3 cells. Further investigation of the cytokines secreted by macrophages revealed suppression of both FMT and EMT by BIC through targeting of TGF-β1. Notably, BIC blocked the activation of JAK2/STAT3 in NIH-3T3 cells required for FMT while preventing both phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of SMAD2/3 in TC-1 cells necessary for the EMT process. Conclusion The collective data suggest that BIC prevents both FMT and EMT processes, in turn, reducing aberrant collagen deposition. Our findings demonstrate for the first time that BIC ameliorates inflammatory cytokine secretion, in particular, TGF-β1, and consequently inhibits FMT and EMT via TGF-β1 canonical and non-canonical pathways, ultimately resulting in reduction of aberrant collagen deposition and slower progression of silicosis, supporting its potential as a novel therapeutic agent.

Abstract Racial/ethnic disparities mar NSCLC care and treatment outcomes. While socioeconomic factors and access to healthcare are important drivers of NSCLC disparities, a deeper understanding of genetic ancestry-associated genomic landscapes can better inform the biology and the treatment actionability for these tumors. We present a comprehensive ancestry-based prevalence and co-alteration landscape of genomic alterations and immunotherapy-associated biomarkers in patients with KRAS and EGFR-altered non-squamous (non-Sq) NSCLC. KRAS was the most frequently altered oncogene in European (EUR) and African (AFR), while EGFR alterations predominated in East Asian (EAS), South Asian (SAS), and Admixed American (AMR) groups, consistent with prior studies. As expected, STK11 and KEAP1 alterations co-occurred with KRAS alterations while showing mutual exclusivity with EGFR alterations. EAS and AMR KRAS-altered non-Sq NSCLC showed lower rates of co-occurring STK11 and KEAP1 alterations relative to other ancestry groups. Ancestry-specific co-alterations included the co-occurrence of KRAS and GNAS alterations in AMR, KRAS, and ARID1A alterations in SAS, and the mutual exclusivity of KRAS and NF1 alterations in the EUR and AFR ancestries. Contrastingly, EGFR-altered tumors exhibited a more conserved co-alteration landscape across ancestries. AFR exhibited the highest tumor mutational burden, with potential therapeutic implications for these tumors.

Abstract The purpose of present study was to examine the current prevalence and recent trends of overactive bladder (OAB) among US adult men and examine the correlations between OAB and several potential risk factors. The study used the nationally representative data between 2005 and 2020 from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in the US. A total of 18,386 participants aged ≥ 20 years were included in the study. We divided the data into three groups: 2005–2008, 2009–2014 and 2015–2020 to investigate the trends in OAB prevalence. The weighted prevalence and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) of OAB were calculated. The differences (95% CI) in prevalence between the surveys were calculated and multivariate-adjusted weighted logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the correlates of OAB. Abstract Background This theoretical model has been drawn on principles of social exchange theory to scrutinize the connection between organizational virtuousness and job performance with the mediating role of Organizational citizenship behavior and moderating role of workplace ostracism. A survey was conducted in Pakistan, gathering data from 486 employees working for various private and commercial banks. Method Soft and hard questionnaires were distributed to the participants, with social media platforms used for the soft questionnaires and meetings with employees for the hard questionnaires. A 7-point Likert scale was employed in data collection, and measures for the variables were adapted from reliable and valid sources. A demographic analysis was performed to summarize the sample collected from participants. The demographics results were analyzed using SPSS, while the measurement model and path analysis were conducted using Structural Equational Modeling with Smart PLS-4. Results The study’s findings showed a significant and positive relationship between organizational virtuousness and job performance, with organizational citizenship behavior serving as a mediator. Additionally, a negative moderation of workplace ostracism was observed in the mediation of organizational citizenship behavior toward the relationship between organizational virtuousness and job performance. Conclusion The study’s results contribute to the implementation of social exchange theory and related concepts in the banking sector of Pakistan, providing practical guidance for implementing virtuous practices within organizations and discouraging ostracism in banks to enhance overall performance. The study suggests that policies regarding the implementation of virtuous practices in organizations can be established, and workplace ostracism can be avoided by providing a platform for social gatherings and training employees. Managers should adopt appropriate leadership styles and relevant communication patterns to impact the organizational climate which can also help reduce the influence of ostracism in the organization. Additionally, a complaint cell should be established with complete confidentiality to reduce ostracism.

Abstract Background Platelet dysfunction plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Despite clinical observations indicating abnormalities in platelet parameters among IBD patients, inconsistencies persist, and these parameters lack standardization for diagnosis or clinical assessment. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted in the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases for relevant articles published up to December 16th, 2023. A random-effects model was employed to pool the weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) of platelet count (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), and plateletcrit (PCT) between IBD patients and healthy controls, and subgroup analyses were performed. Results The meta-analysis included 79 articles with 8,350 IBD patients and 13,181 healthy individuals. The results revealed significantly increased PLT and PCT levels (WMD: 69.910, 95% CI: 62.177, 77.643 109/L; WMD: 0.046%, 95% CI: 0.031%, 0.061%), and decreased MPV levels (WMD: -0.912, 95% CI: -1.086, -0.739 fL) in IBD patients compared to healthy individuals. No significant difference was found in PDW between the IBD and control groups (WMD: -0.207%, 95% CI: -0.655%, 0.241%). Subgroup analysis by disease type and disease activity showed no change in the differences for PLT, PCT, and MPV in the ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease groups, as well as the active and inactive groups. Notably, the active group exhibited significantly lower PDW levels than the control group (WMD: -1.138%, 95% CI: -1.535%, -0.741%). Conclusions Compared with healthy individuals, IBD patients display significantly higher PLT and PCT and significantly lower MPV. Monitoring the clinical manifestations of platelet abnormalities serves as a valuable means to obtain diagnostic and prognostic information. Conversely, proactive measures should be taken to prevent the consequences of platelet abnormalities in individuals with IBD. Systematic review registration PROSPERO CRD42023493848.

Abstract Short‐term wind speed prediction is essential for economical wind power utilization. The real‐world wind speed data are typically intermittent and fluctuating, presenting great challenges to existing shallow models. In this paper, we present a novel deep hybrid model for multistep wind speed prediction, namely, LR‐FFT‐RP‐MLP/LSTM (linear fast Fourier transform rank pooling multiple‐layer perceptron/long short‐term memory). Our hybrid model processes the local and global input features simultaneously. We leverage RP for the local feature extraction to capture the temporal structure while maintaining the temporal order. Besides, to understand the wind periodic patterns, we exploit FFT to extract global features and relevant frequency components in the wind speed data. The resulting local and global features are, respectively, integrated with the original data and are fed into an MLP/LSTM layer for the initial wind speed predictions. Finally, we leverage a linear regression layer to collaborate these initial predictions to produce the final wind speed prediction. The proposed hybrid model is evaluated using real wind speed data collected from 2010 to 2020, demonstrating superior forecasting capabilities when compared with state‐of‐the‐art single and hybrid models. Overall, this study presents a promising approach for improving the accuracy of wind speed forecasting.

Abstract To investigate the characteristics of destabilization damage in coal-rock complexes. Mechanical property tests were conducted on coal, rock, and their complexes. An infrared thermal camera was employed to real-time monitor the infrared (IR) radiation response signals during the destabilization damage process. A numerical model of coal-rock destabilization damage was developed, and its validity was verified. Deformed stress fields and displacement contours were obtained during the destabilization damage process. Upon destabilization, numerous cracks form at the base of the “coal” section, extending towards the interface, resulting in the formation of a wave-like deformation region. The differentiation in infrared thermal images is more pronounced in the “coal” section compared to the “rock” section. A high-stress region is evident at the interface, resulting in an area of high stress differentials. However, the bottom of the “coal” section also exhibits a region with high stress differentials and a more pronounced tendency towards destabilization damage. Displacement contours revealed that numerous units at the bottom of the “coal” section had slipped and misaligned, leading to the accumulation of damage and an elevation in the local damage level. It is a crucial factor contributing to the notable phenomenon of IR thermal image differentiation.

The total saline-alkaline land area in China is about 99.13 million hectares distributed across northern China, coastal areas, and areas along the bank of the Huanghe River. About 46 million hectares of saline-alkaline water areas are distributed around these saline-alkaline lands, most of which are thalassic and characterized by a high pH value in excess of 8.8 associated with high-carbonate alkalinity concentrations and various types of ion imbalances. Saline-alkaline waters are stressful environments in which only relatively few organisms are able to survive. Consequently, most of the saline-alkaline water resources have been desolate for a long time. The effective utilization of saline-alkaline water resources will benefit restoration of saline-alkaline habitats and the expansion of aquaculture space. Naked carp (Gymnocypris przewalskii) are endemic to the austere saline-alkaline environment of Qinghai Lake. Due to overfishing in the 1960s and environmental changes in the lake area, the resources necessary for naked carp survival in Qinghai Lake declined substantially. At present, the major measures to protect the naked carp and maintain the ecological balance of Qinghai Lake are through a fishing ban and artificial stocking and releasing. The feeding behavior of fish under natural conditions has obvious rhythm characteristics, which is an important research topic for healthy aquaculture. To explore the characteristics of self-feeding rhythm and growth performance of fish in a saline-alkaline environment and provide basic data for the protection of native saline-alkaline fish, naked carp were taken as representative in this study. First, the freshwater and lake water group with natural photoperiod (14L: 10D) and the lake water group with darkness (24D) were set. The artificial lake water was prepared according to the ionic composition of Qinghai Lake, with the contents of Na+ 23.05%, K+ 1.34%, Ca2+ 0.11%, Mg2+ 6.88%, HCO3– 7.09%, CO32– 5.07%, Cl– 40.39%, and SO42– 16.07%. The measured salinity of the artificial lake water was 15.08, and the carbonate alkalinity was 27.53 mmol/L. According to the local photoperiod of Qinghai Province, the whole day was divided into five periods as 05:00–08:00, 8:00–11:00, 11:00–15:00, 15:00–19:00, and 19:00–05:00. The feeding rhythm experiment lasted for 5 d, and the average food intake of each period was calculated. The results showed that naked carp had an obvious daily feeding rhythm during their natural photoperiod. In the natural photoperiod, the feeding peak was from 08:00 to 11:00, and the low feeding period was from 05:00 to 08:00 in freshwater. In the lake water, naked carp showed high and continuous feeding from 08:00 to 19:00, and their average hourly feed intake was significantly higher than that from 05:00 to 08:00 and 19:00 to 05:00. Therefore, naked carp were determined to be the daytime feeding fish type. In addition, the high proportion and the continuous feeding in daytime in lake water indicated that the osmotic and acid-base regulation of naked carp in saline-alkaline water may enhance their diurnal feeding rhythm. Whereas in the continuous dark environment, the feeding rhythm of naked carp was weakened, and the average hourly food intake of each period was similar. To explore the growth performance of naked carp under a self-feeding rhythm, the lake water group and the freshwater control group with natural photoperiod were set up. After 63 days of self-feeding, the individual body length and weight of the naked carp were measured after being anesthetized with MS-222. The length growth rate (1.19±0.17)%, weight growth rate (10.66±0.98)%, and specific growth rate (0.16±0.02)%/d of naked carp in the lake water group were significantly lower than those in the freshwater group [length growth rate (18.66±0.41)%, weight growth rate (67.32±3.05)%, and specific growth rate (0.82±0.03)%/d)], indicating that the growth of naked carp was inhibited by high salinity and carbonate alkalinity environment. The parameter b of body length-weight relationship curve of the naked carp in both the lake water group and the freshwater group was less than three, which showed that the naked carp was a negative allometric growth fish. The b value of the lake water group was lower than that of the freshwater group, and the body length of naked carp increased faster than body weight in the lake water. The growth characteristics of naked carp were affected by the high saline-alkaline environment. The self-feeding rhythm and growth performance of naked carp provided a basic knowledge for creating a feeding strategy for fish cultured in a saline-alkaline environment and recovering endangered native saline-alkaline fish.

Abstract Background Apple Replant Disease (ARD) is common in major apple-growing regions worldwide, but the role of rhizosphere microbiota in conferring ARD resistance and promoting plant growth remains unclear. Results In this study, a synthetic microbial community (SynCom) was developed to enhance apple plant growth and combat apple pathogens. Eight unique bacteria selected via microbial culture were used to construct the antagonistic synthetic community, which was then inoculated into apple seedlings in greenhouse experiments. Changes in the rhizomicroflora and the growth of aboveground plants were monitored. The eight strains, belonging to the genera Bacillus and Streptomyces, have the ability to antagonize pathogens such as Fusarium oxysporum, Rhizoctonia solani, Botryosphaeria ribis, and Physalospora piricola. Additionally, these eight strains can stably colonize in apple rhizosphere and some of them can produce siderophores, ACC deaminase, and IAA. Greenhouse experiments with Malus hupehensis Rehd indicated that SynCom promotes plant growth (5.23%) and increases the nutrient content of the soil, including soil organic matter (9.25%) and available K (1.99%), P (7.89%), and N (0.19%), and increases bacterial richness and the relative abundance of potentially beneficial bacteria. SynCom also increased the stability of the rhizosphere microbial community, the assembly of which was dominated by deterministic processes (|β NTI| > 2). Conclusions Our results provide insights into the contribution of the microbiome to pathogen inhibition and host growth. The formulation and manipulation of similar SynComs may be a beneficial strategy for promoting plant growth and controlling soil-borne disease.

Invasive pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNETs) are the most prevalent types of intracranial and neuroendocrine tumors. Their aggressive growth and difficulty in complete resection result in a high recurrence rate. Cystine transporter solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11) is overexpressed in various cancers, which contributes to tumor growth, progression, and metastasis by promoting cystine uptake and glutathione biosynthesis. We identified SLC7A11 as an invasive biomarker based on three Gene Expression Omnibus cohorts. This study aimed to investigate the role of SLC7A11 in invasive PitNETs. Cell proliferation was assessed using CCK-8 and colony formation assays, while cell apoptosis was estimated with flow cytometry. Wound healing assays and transwell assays were utilized to evaluate migration and invasion ability. Our findings demonstrated that SLC7A11 was markedly upregulated in invasive PitNETs, and was associated with the invasiveness of PitNETs. Knockdown of SLC7A11 could largely suppress tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while inducing apoptosis. Furthermore, SLC7A11 depletion was implicated in regulating epithelial–mesenchymal transition and inactivating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. These insights suggest SLC7A11 as a potential therapeutic target for invasive PitNETs.

Abstract In the United States (US), chlamydia is the most frequently reported sexually transmitted infection that is nationally notifiable. We examined trends in chlamydia prevalence in the US in 2011–2016 compared with 2005–2010. Cross-sectional, nationally representative surveys, National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES), were used to compare national chlamydia prevalence estimates from 2011 to 2016 with those from 2005 to 2010, and changes in prevalence since 1999–2004 were also reviewed. Persons aged 18–39 years were included in these analyses. Prevalence of chlamydia was based on results from urine specimens. Results were weighted to represent the U.S. civilian, noninstitutionalized population. The baseline characteristics of the study population were similar in gender, age and race/ethnicity between the two groups (P > 0.05). The overall chlamydia prevalence was 1.88% (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.55–2.22%) in 2011–2016 and 1.57% (95% CI 1.27–1.87%) in 2005–2010, a relative increase of 19.7% (95% CI 0.2–39.2%; P high school educational level, never married, age at first sex 5 sexual partners. The chlamydia prevalence had an increasing trend from 2005–2010 to 2011–2016. Those with high chlamydia prevalence such as sexually active young adults and Non-Hispanic Black should be screened annually so that infected persons can be diagnosed and they and their sex partners can be treated promptly.

Highlights The low FODMAP diet is the most recommended dietary intervention for the clinical management of IBS symptoms. Bibliometrics analysis provides a comprehensive perspective and direction on global research trend and hotspot in the low FODMAP diet research. The restriction stage of the low FODMAP diet is superior to other dietary therapies for IBS in terms of symptom response, but it has a negative impact on the abundance of gut Bifidobacteria and diet quality. Identification of biomarkers to predict response to the low FODMAP diet has become the current research hotspot. Large, well-designed clinical research studies are needed in the future to investigate the long-term efficacy and safety of the low FODMAP diet, including FODMAP reintroduction and personalization stages.

High-precision microfabrication of functional ceramics with complex shapes and tailored properties currently arouse significant attention, but maintaining dimensional accuracy is still a research challenge. Herein, an innovative digital light processing (DLP) 3D technology is employed to fabricate calcined kaolin (Al2O3·2SiO2) ceramic with intricate structures, achieving high precision and densification. To illustrate the potential of different solid content slurries (43, 45, 46.2, and 47.5 vol%), and the curing thickness with tuned exposure time (8s, 10s, and 12s), we investigated their impact on physical properties and microstructures. The results show that the optimal sintering at 1200 °C achieved an exceptionally high density 2.38 g/cm3, with low shrinkage (17.35 %) along XY-direction and porosity reaching up to 15.53%. The highest level of solids slurry at 47.5 vol% increased the densification and open porosity. For all solid contents, the shrinkage along the Z-direction was exceeded compared to the XY-direction. A comprehensive evaluation of sintered morphologies, including their topography and chemical composition. The EDX mapping showed that kaolin ceramics have excellent stability at high temperatures. The highest flexural strength of DLP printed specimen at temperature (1200 °C) is 71.60 MPa, whereas that of the diamond porous structure is 6.66 MPa. Our work sheds light on high-precision microfabrication of complex shapes with unparalleled accuracy and efficiency, paving the way for high-performance functional ceramic materials.
