Experimental research was conducted to study the fire resistance of steel tubular columns used in prefabricated and modular construction. In order to achieve high-efficient prefabrication and fast on-site installation, membrane protections using board products and thermal insulation blankets are adopted as the favorable protection method. Three protected tubular columns were tested in a full-scale column furnace with axial load applied. The study variables were different membranes, including fiber reinforced calcium silicate (FRCS) boards, rock wool and aluminum silica (Fiberfrax) insulations. The results suggest that one layer of 12 mm FRCS board with rock wool insulation has insufficient fire protection. However, steel columns protected with two layers of 12 mm FRCS boards with insulation appeared to have good fire resistances and could achieve a fire resistance rating as high as 2.5~3.0 h.

This paper simulates the fire prevention performance of external insulation system with curtain wall based on FDS method. The effect to control flame spread of fire-barrier belt and fire separating element with different width is discussed. The characteristics of temperature distribution on the interior, exterior and intermediate cavity of external insulation system are analyzed and the variability of heat release rate is found. The results prove that fire-barrier belt and fire separating element could effectively inhibit flame spread and growth. The fire prevention performance of external insulation system is strengthened with increasing of setting the width. When the width of fire separating element is 100 mm and fire-barrier belt width is 300 mm, the whole external insulation system has good fire prevention performance, which can be set as basic parameters for the design of fire protection construction with consider the applicability and economical efficiency of actual engineering.

A series of standard fire-resistance tests were carried out to study the fire performance, failure modes and fire-resistance ratings of glulam beams. The test results showed that these glulam beams performed well during the tests, and the fire-resistance rating requirements can be achieved as expected. The study has provided necessary knowledge and experimental data for the determination of fire-resistance performance of glulam beams in the fire code of China.

In this paper secondary lining of an underwater tunnel which had appeared I-longitudinal crack was taken as study object according to theory of fracture mechanics. Finite Element analysis was carried out to calculate the stress intensity factor at the tip of I-longitudinal crack which located in vault, then to analyze the extended state of crack based on double-K fracture criteria. The computation results indicate that the stress intensity factor at the tip of I-longitudinal cracks which appear within 20 degrees of the vault do not exceed unstable fracture toughness, lining is in stable growth stage and do not occur instable failure. The stress intensity factor at the tip of I-longitudinal cracks appeared in vault is maximum and appeared in both side of vault is minor, the further away from vault the less of stress intensity factor. When water level below the top of tunnel, with the rise of water level the stress intensity factor at the tip of I-longitudinal decrease and the external water pressure has restrain effect to the crack extension. When water level exceed the top of tunnel, with the rise of water level the stress intensity factor at the tip of large depth of crack decrease rapidly until arrive negative value, then increase backward until greater than unstable fracture toughness and cause lining structural local instable failure.

According to the characteristics of one complex traffic tunnel in Guangzhou, and according to Froude similarity theory, a solid model with geometric dimension ratio of 1:3 is established. This paper introduced the spreading characteristics of smoke when the longitudinal ventilation and point smoke extraction were working together at the same time. And the best smoke control scheme was put forward for smoke control in different smoke prevention zones of this tunnel.

The aim of this study is to investigate the Influence of fire curtain on smoke exhaust effect of Longitudinal ventilation and shaft smoke exhaust combination mode, combined with the actual project established a scale physical model of 1:3, and analyzed the smoke exhaust effect of longitudinal ventilation and vertical shaft smoke exhaust combination mode, measured the fire heat release rate, smoke spread, the temperature inside the tunnel. The results show that the tunnel fire, Longitudinal ventilation and shaft smoke exhaust combination mode has a certain effect to control of flue gas, open fire curtain, the flue gas is controlled to a certain range, there is conducive to better gas discharge tunnel, can provide protection for traffic safety.
