Abstract

Under the unbalance-bearing coupling fault of the rotor system, the unbalance fault features and bearing faults modulate each other, and the weak fault features are easily submerged by the strong fault features and strong noise components. Thus, a multi-step grid search optimization sparse diagnosis method is proposed to improve the anti-interference ability of sparse representation algorithm by selecting the optimal parameters of sparse representation to reduce the sparse reconstruction error. Firstly, based on the multi-step grid search theory, a multi-step grid search optimization sparse representation method model is established to improve the calculation accuracy. Secondly, the signal reconstruction based on adaptive Gabor atom dictionary orthogonal matching tracking algorithm is realized by optimizing the displacement factor and frequency factor. Finally, the coupling simulation fault data with different SNR are analyzed. The results show that the anti-interference ability of the proposed method increases with the increase of noise interference and different experimental cases further verify the accuracy and applicability of the proposed method.

Abstract

In order to investigate the influence of tensioned joints on the dynamic mechanical properties of rock-like materials under impact loading, investigated the stress wave propagation characteristics, peak bearing capacity, damage pattern and damage law based on energy theory under dynamic loading for intact specimens and cement mortar specimens containing joints of different angles and lengths with the help of a split Hopkinson compression bar device.The results show that the specimens will be damaged by forming a set of tensile cracking surfaces along the axial direction through the joint surface and a set of cracking surfaces almost parallel to the end face of the specimen.Under the experimental loading rate, when the joint length increases from 5 mm to 30 mm, the more obvious the reflection effect on the wave, the smaller the peak bearing capacity of the specimen, and the smaller the damage.When the joint angle increases from 0° to 90°, the smaller the reflection effect on the stress wave, and the smaller the damage value of the specimen.The peak bearing capacity of the specimen decreases with the increase of the joint angle and then increases.When the joint angle is 60°, the peak bearing capacity of the specimen reaches the minimum, and when the joint angle is 90°, the peak bearing capacity of the specimen reaches the maximum.

Abstract

Modern artificial intelligence (AI) systems are powered by foundation models. This paper presents a new set of foundation models, called Llama 3. It is a herd of language models that natively support multilinguality, coding, reasoning, and tool usage. Our largest model is a dense Transformer with 405B parameters and a context window of up to 128K tokens. This paper presents an extensive empirical evaluation of Llama 3. We find that Llama 3 delivers comparable quality to leading language models such as GPT-4 on a plethora of tasks. We publicly release Llama 3, including pre-trained and post-trained versions of the 405B parameter language model and our Llama Guard 3 model for input and output safety. The paper also presents the results of experiments in which we integrate image, video, and speech capabilities into Llama 3 via a compositional approach. We observe this approach performs competitively with the state-of-the-art on image, video, and speech recognition tasks. The resulting models are not yet being broadly released as they are still under development.

4. Experimental study on crack propagation of slit charge blasting in media with vertical bedding plane

Abstract

The joints have significant effects on crack propagation in slit charge blasting. In this paper,the caustic method is adopted to study the law of crack propagation in vertical jointed media under slit charge blasting. The results show that compared with the intact media without joint,in single slit charge blasting the velocity of induced dynamic crack is lower in the media with vertical joint,and the crack length on one side of the borehole decreases by about 15.5%. The reflected wave,generated by the reflection of stress wave at the vertical joint,increases the stress intensity factor of the opposite propagated crack,which leads to suppressing the forward propagation of dynamic crack. The closer the distance between the hole and the joint,the stronger the suppressing effect KⅡd,whereas decreases the KⅠd of the joint on crack propagation. Under double slit charge blasting with simultaneous initiation,the explosion stress wave,generated by the adjacent borehole,has a positive effect on the crack propagation with opposite directions,which makes both the dynamic stress intensity factor and crack velocity increase significantly,leads the dynamic passing through the vertical joints directly without deflection,improes the directional propagation ability of dynamic crack in jointed rock,and the length of crack increasesby more than 50% compared with the single slit charge blasting. The results provide a theoretical basis for carrying out directional fracture blasting with slit charge in jointed rock mass.

Abstract

The effects of both the microstructure and the original grain size on three-roll screw rolling process of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy bar were studied in the present work. The microstructure of Ti6Al4V titanium bar had a great influence on the mechanical properties of the rolling bar. When the original size was large, the grains were apparently refined but the microstructure was uneven. But for semi-finished titanium bar composed of fine equiaxed grains, the grains after rolling were fine and uniform. During the rolling process, the Ti6Al4V titanium alloy microstructure changed from equiaxed structure to the basket-weave one. After annealing at 800℃ for 1.5 hours and then cooling in air, the average tensile strength decreased from 984 MPa to 964 MPa; while after annealing at 950℃ for 1.5 hours and then cooling by water, and aging at 540℃ for 6 hours then cooling by air, the average tensile strength increased from 979 MPa to 1107 MPa.

6. A Physics-embedded Deep Learning Framework for Cloth Simulation

Abstract

Delicate cloth simulations have long been desired in computer graphics. Various methods were proposed to improve engaged force interactions, collision handling, and numerical integrations. Deep learning has the potential to achieve fast and real-time simulation, but common neural network structures often demand many parameters to capture cloth dynamics. This paper proposes a physics-embedded learning framework that directly encodes physical features of cloth simulation. The convolutional neural network is used to represent spatial correlations of the mass-spring system, after which three branches are designed to learn linear, nonlinear, and time derivate features of cloth physics. The framework can also integrate with other external forces and collision handling through either traditional simulators or sub neural networks. The model is tested across different cloth animation cases, without training with new data. Agreement with baselines and predictive realism successfully validate its generalization ability. Inference efficiency of the proposed model also defeats traditional physics simulation. This framework is also designed to easily integrate with other visual refinement techniques like wrinkle carving, which leaves significant chances to incorporate prevailing macing learning techniques in 3D cloth amination., Comment: A derivation is incomplete, and updations are being processed

11. Diffeomorphism Neural Operator for various domains and parameters of partial differential equations

Abstract

In scientific and engineering applications, solving partial differential equations (PDEs) across various parameters and domains normally relies on resource-intensive numerical methods. Neural operators based on deep learning offered a promising alternative to PDEs solving by directly learning physical laws from data. However, the current neural operator methods were limited to solve PDEs on fixed domains. Expanding neural operators to solve PDEs on various domains hold significant promise in medical imaging, engineering design and manufacturing applications, where geometric and parameter changes are essential. This paper presents a novel neural operator learning framework for solving PDEs with various domains and parameters defined for physical systems, named diffeomorphism neural operator (DNO). The main idea is that a neural operator learns in a generic domain which is diffeomorphically mapped from various physics domains expressed by the same PDE. In this way, the challenge of operator learning on various domains is transformed into operator learning on the generic domain. The generalization performance of DNO on different domains can be assessed by a proposed method which evaluates the geometric similarity between a new domain and the domains of training dataset after diffeomorphism. Experiments on Darcy flow, pipe flow, airfoil flow and mechanics were carried out, where harmonic and volume parameterization were used as the diffeomorphism for 2D and 3D domains. Abstract

AI-synthesized text and images have gained significant attention, particularly due to the widespread dissemination of multi-modal manipulations on the internet, which has resulted in numerous negative impacts on society. Existing methods for multi-modal manipulation detection and grounding primarily focus on fusing vision-language features to make predictions, while overlooking the importance of modality-specific features, leading to sub-optimal results. In this paper, we construct a simple and novel transformer-based framework for multi-modal manipulation detection and grounding tasks. Our framework simultaneously explores modality-specific features while preserving the capability for multi-modal alignment. To achieve this, we introduce visual/language pre-trained encoders and dual-branch cross-attention (DCA) to extract and fuse modality-unique features. Furthermore, we design decoupled fine-grained classifiers (DFC) to enhance modality-specific feature mining and mitigate modality competition. Moreover, we propose an implicit manipulation query (IMQ) that adaptively aggregates global contextual cues within each modality using learnable queries, thereby improving the discovery of forged details. Abstract

Transformer is popular in recent 3D human pose estimation, which utilizes long-term modeling to lift 2D keypoints into the 3D space. However, current transformer-based methods do not fully exploit the prior knowledge of the human skeleton provided by the kinematic structure. In this paper, we propose a novel transformer-based model EvoPose to introduce the human body prior knowledge for 3D human pose estimation effectively. Specifically, a Structural Priors Representation (SPR) module represents human priors as structural features carrying rich body patterns, e.g. joint relationships. The structural features are interacted with 2D pose sequences and help the model to achieve more informative spatiotemporal features. Moreover, a Recursive Refinement (RR) module is applied to refine the 3D pose outputs by utilizing estimated results and further injects human priors simultaneously. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of EvoPose which achieves a new state of the art on two most popular benchmarks, Human3.6M and MPI-INF-3DHP., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, 4 tables, published in the proceedings of IEEE ICASSP 2023

Abstract

Automated machine learning systems for non-experts could be critical for industries to adopt artificial intelligence to their own applications. This paper detailed the engineering system implementation of an automated machine learning system called YMIR, which completely relies on graphical interface to interact with users. After importing training/validation data into the system, a user without AI knowledge can label the data, train models, perform data mining and evaluation by simply clicking buttons. The paper described: 1) Open implementation of model training and inference through docker containers. 2) Implementation of task and resource management. 3) Integration of Labeling software. 4) Implementation of HCI (Human Computer Interaction) with a rebuilt collaborative development paradigm. We also provide subsequent case study on training models with the system. We hope this paper can facilitate the prosperity of our automated machine learning community from industry application perspective. The code of the system has already been released to GitHub (https://github.com/industryessentials/ymir).
