【Objectives】 Irrigation for agricultural production in most regions of the world relies on groundwater. Understanding groundwater extracted for irrigation in a region is hence important for water resource management but challenging at regional and catchment scales. In this paper we propose a method to estimate groundwater usage for irrigation. 【Method】 We take Tangshan in Northern China as an example. Based on the number and distribution of boreholes, field investigation in selected areas, planting structures, precipitation, as well as statistical yearbook, we established the relationship between precipitation and irrigation amount, and evaluated the actual groundwater usage for irrigation in 2010 in the studied region. 【Result】 ①The relationship between irrigation amount (y) and precipitation (x) in irrigated croplands and paddy fields was y=1.167×107x-1.277 3 and y=378 796x-0.636 6, respectively, with R2 of the former and the latter being 0.899 0 and 0.883 3. ②The irrigation amount for paddy fields in 2010 varied from 5 763 to 7 649 m3/hm2, larger than the irrigation amount for greenhouses (4 950 m3/hm2) and the irrigated cropland which varied from 2 633 to 4 647 m3/hm2. ③The estimated groundwater extracted for irrigation in 2010 was 1.308 billion m3, differing by 9.42% from that reported in the water resources bulletin. 【Conclusion】 The irrigation amount for paddy fields is larger than that for greenhouse and irrigated cropland. Statistics yearbook can be used with other data to estimate groundwater extraction for irrigation; our analysis showed that the results estimated using this method agree reasonably well with measured data.

To promote the development and application of continuous monitoring technologies for CO2 emissions from thermal power plants in China and support the establishment of a carbon emission statistics and accounting system in the country, this study analyzes the international experience in the continuous monitoring of CO2 emissions from thermal power plants using literature research, expert discussion, and technical interpretation, with a focus on the United States and the European Union. The analysis covers eight aspects: types of units applying the technology, formulation of implementation standards, measures for dealing with failures, selection of monitoring technologies, research on key technologies, support for the low-carbon development of thermal power plants, verification of monitoring reports, and evaluation of measurement accuracy. Drawing on international beneficial experience and considering the current status of continuous monitoring of CO2 emissions from thermal power plants in China, the study proposes the following suggestions: (1) formulating supporting policies and regulations while considering the characteristics of technology application and the actual situation of thermal power plants in China, (2) accelerating the improvement in technical implementation standards and specifications to enhance the guiding and supporting role of standards, (3) strengthening the statistical analysis of the measurements using existing flue gas flow meters to provide references for relevant work, (4) enhancing research on flue gas flow measurement in thermal power plants to improve the technical level of continuous monitoring of CO2 emissions, (5) promoting the application of digital technologies in the verification of monitoring reports to support closed-loop management of continuous monitoring of CO2 emissions, and (6) improving the evaluation standards system for measurement accuracy of continuous emission monitoring systems to enhance the international recognition of China’s carbon emission data.

Objective A novel compound based on near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) probe was prepared to achieve dynamic monitoring of an inflammatory brain edema model in mice and real-time evaluation of therapeutic effects through in vivo imaging. Methods The NIRF probe IR-783 was chemically linked with clinical brain edema therapeutic drug furosemide (FSM) to obtain the new compound, IR-783-FSM. The ultraviolet fluorescence properties of the compound were evaluated using an ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The uptake of the compound by mouse macrophage cells RAW 264.7 was detected with in vitro cellular experiments. Its cytotoxicity was evaluated through CCK8 assays. A brain edema model was established in BALB/c mice via intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), confirmed by HE staining and dry-wet weight methods for brain tissues. The mice in the brain edema model were divided into control group, IR-783, and IR-783-FSM treatment groups, receiving intraperitoneal injections of PBS, IR-783, and IR-783-FSM, respectively. Real-time in vivo fluorescence imaging was then performed. The mice in each group were euthanized after 10 hours. Ex vivo brain imaging and dry-wet weight measurements were performed to observe the NIRF imaging characteristics and therapeutic effects of IR-783-FSM on brain edema model. Results The newly synthesized compound, IR-783-FSM, retained the excellent near-infrared fluorescence characteristics of IR-783. It could target mouse macrophages with an IC50 of 48.82 µmol/L. A brain edema model could be successfully constructed with intraperitoneal injection of LPS, with significantly higher brain tissue water content compared to the control group (P

The Western Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project is the final link to be constructed for the four-horizontal three-vertical framework of China’s national water network. The adjustable water volume in the water source areas is a focal and challenging issue in the planning and demonstration of the Western Route. This study raised ten questions related to the adjustable water volume in the water source areas of the Western Route from the aspects of water resource background conditions and evolution trends, ecological and socio-economic water demands, scales of reservoirs and water conveyance projects, as well as impacts of water diversion on water resource development and utilization, aquatic ecological environment, hydropower, and navigation in the water source areas and their lower reaches. Based on a distributed hydrological model of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, a simulation and analysis model for calculating the adjustable water volume in water source areas of the Western Route is established to quantitatively answer the ten questions raised. The main conclusions are as follows. First, under the premise of solely satisfying ecological and socio-economic water demands within and outside the river channels of the water source areas, a plan that combines upper and lower routes presents an average adjustable water volume of 1.59×1010 m³ over multiple years, while a plan for solely constructing a lower route can reach an average adjustable water volume of 1.74×1010 m³ by constructing the Gangtuo Reservoir for coordinated operation. Second, comprehensively considering the impacts of water diversion on water balance, hydropower, and navigation, as well as their acceptability in the water source areas, the adjustable water volume is between 1.22×1010 and 1.26×1010 m³. Third, in the long term, the plan should focus on connecting and integrating the water network in the southwestern region with the main framework and major streams of the national water network of China. This will reduce the impacts of water diversion by the Western Route Project, increase the overall water supply capacity of the project, and promote its adaptability to external conditions such as climate change.

For various engineering applications in public, ceramics with exceptional strength, toughness and shock resistance are imminently required, but traditional ceramics struggle to meet these demands due to their fragility. Inspired by the shape of natural conch shells, this work offers a simple hot press approach to fabricate layered porcelain ceramic tile/Kevlar fabric composites, yielding excellent mechanical properties and the capacity for non-catastrophic failure. It was concluded that composites’ excellent mechanical performance is attributed to the resin/fabric content. The composite with the resin/fabric content of 45.5 vol.% had an outstanding combination of high strength (310.5 ± 6.2MPa) and excellent fracture toughness (6.83 ± 0.09MPa•m1/2), whereas the sample with 36.4 vol.% resin/fabric content had the maximal impact energy of 2.04 ± 0.09 J, which is much better than those of traditional ceramics. The strong resistance to fracture is a result of the proper interfacial bonding and the presence of elastic component, which enables toughening mechanisms such as crack deflection, fibre pull-out and interfacial debonding. This finding provides useful guidance for replacing lowperformance ceramics in engineering applications with cost-effective ceramic composites.

Abstract Currently, a standardized design and calculation specification for suction drum foundations has yet to exist in China. The engineering design currently depends mainly on the subjective understanding and engineering experience of the designers, which can be considered somewhat blind and subjective. In this paper, we utilize the offshore wind power project in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, as our case study. Building upon domestic and international research results, relevant investigations, design specifications, and engineering applications in related fields, we conduct a systematic study on the design calculation and construction control technology of the suction drum foundation. The document presents the design calculation and inspection of the suction drum foundation. Building on this foundation, we propose a sinking feasibility analysis method and a parameter value method for the suction drum foundation calculation. We also examine the suction drum foundation construction process, examining its control parameters, technology, and standards. Finally, based on the measured data from six four-barrel guided frame platform suction drum foundations that were successfully installed, the proposed design and control method are evaluated, and their effectiveness is verified. The results of this study can provide valuable references for the design and construction of similar suction drum foundation platforms.

The ideological and political content of the laboratory animal science degree course with the basic task of "cultivating morality and cultivating people" is organically integrated into the teaching system of laboratory animal science. It can have a subtle influence on students' thoughts and behaviors. Combined with the curriculum design and professional characteristics of laboratory animal science, this article discussed the ideological and political elements contained in this course, proposed the forms and methods of integrating ideological and political elements into the curriculum design in each chapter. Additionally, the typical cases and characteristic practices of the organic connection of ideological and political education in the teaching system of laboratory animal science were summarized. Practice has proved that integrating the ideological and political elements into the teaching system of laboratory animal science can enhance teacher's awareness and ability of politics, thus effectively improving the compre-hensive quality of students and enhancing the effectiveness of ideological and political education in laboratory animal science.

There are differences in historical and cultural beliefs, development history, and levels of technological development among different countries and regions around the world. However, they have all established corresponding laboratory animal management systems that are suitable for their national conditions. In 2001, the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with six other ministries, jointly issued the administrative licensing system for experimental animals, which was an innovative measure in China's specialized management system for experimental animals.The State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Standards Committee, based on the welfare of experimental animals and the needs of scientific research, have formulated a series of national standards for laboratory animals, and the local experimental animal management institutions, experimental animal quality testing unit and professional training base have also been established, which provide a strong guarantee for the rapid and healthy development of experimental animal science. This paper reviews the development of experimental animal management in Shanghai in the past ten years, reflects the evolution of national experimental animal management in recent years, points out the weak links in the development process, and puts forward suggestions for the innovation and development of experimental animal work.

ING5 belongs to the inhibitor of growth (ING) candidate tumor suppressor family, which is involved in multiple cellular functions, such as cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and chromatin remodelling. Previously, we reported that ING5 overexpression inhibits EMT by regulating EMT-related molecules, including Snail1, at the mRNA and protein levels. However, the mechanisms remain unclear. In the current study, we identify that ING5 overexpression induces the upregulation of miR-34c-5p. The expression levels of both ING5 and miR-34c-5p in NSCLC tissues from the TCGA database are decreased compared with that in adjacent tissues. Higher expression levels of both ING5 and miR-34c-5p predict longer overall survival (OS). Snail1 is the target gene of miR-34c-5p, as predicted by an online database, which is further verified by a dual-luciferase reporter assay. The expression level of Snail1 in NSCLC cells is markedly reduced following miR-34c-5p overexpression, leading to the inactivation of the Snail1 downstream TGF-β/Smad3 signaling pathway. The TGF-β signaling-specific inhibitor LY2157299 reverses the enhanced EMT, proliferation, migration, and invasion abilities induced by the miR-34c-5p inhibitor. Furthermore, tail vein injection of miR-34c-5p agomir inhibits xenografted tumor metastasis. Overall, this study concludes that miR-34c-5p, induced by ING5 overexpression, is a tumor suppressor that targets Snail1 and mediates the inhibitory effects of ING5 on the EMT and invasion of NSCLC cells. These results provide a novel mechanism mediating the antitumor effects of ING5.

We report here the clinical diagnosis and treatment and genetic mutations of an infant with You-Hoover-Fong syndrome (YHFS). The relevant literature review was conducted. A female infant aged 17 months was admitted to Nanhai Affiliated Maternity and Children’s Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine due to “global development delay complicated with postnatal growth retardation for more than 1 year.” The infant was diagnosed with YHFS due to the onset of extremely severe mental retardation, microcephaly, abnormal hearing, severe protein–energy malnutrition, congenital cataract, cleft palate (I°), congenital atrial septal defect, brain atrophy, hydrocephalus, and brain hypoplasia. The whole exon sequencing revealed two compound heterozygous mutations, including a likely pathogenic TELO2 variant, c.2245A > T (p.K749X) from her mother and an uncertain variant, c.2299C > T (p.R767C) from her father, validated by Sanger sequencing. After bilateral cataract surgery, the infant obtained better visual acuity and showed more responses and interactions with her parents. Diagnosis and treatment of this case prompt that these TELO2 variants have not been reported, deepening the understanding of the molecular and genetic mechanism of YHFS in clinical practice.

In this paper, the cited papers and cited patents of world-class agriculture-related universities are taken as the research objects, and the preprocessing process of the research hotspot text of agriculture-related universities is accomplished by combining the participle processing method and the TF-IDF method. To make up for the shortcomings of the semantic level of the LDA model, BERTopic is utilized to obtain the document-topic distribution probability and the topic-topic word distribution probability, and the topic hotness of different topics is calculated. Then the Glove method is used to extract the word vector features of the topic words, normalize them, calculate the word vectors by taking the distribution probability values as the weighted weights, solve the topic vectors, and then calculate the similarity of the hot topics in different time windows by the cosine similarity to explore the hot topics and the evolution of the world’s first-class agriculture-related colleges and universities research.

ObjectiveTo investigate the current situation and risk factors of high-frequency consumption of pickled and smoked products in Southwest China and put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.MethodsA questionnaire survey was conducted from February to May in 2021 in Southwest China （Yunnan， Guizhou， Sichuan and Chongqing） by convenient sampling to obtain data. The geographical， demographic and sociological factors， health knowledge and behavior factors were collected. The risk factors of high-frequency pickled and smoked products consumption were analyzed by disordered multi classification logistic regression.ResultsGeographical factor analysis showed that the risk of high-frequency consumption of pickled and smoked products in Yunnan， Guizhou and rural areas was high. The risk of high-frequency consumption of pickled and smoked products in Yunnan province were 2.764 times and 2.126 times higher than that in Chongqing respectively. Among the demographic sociological factors， high-frequency consumption of pickled and smoked products was positively correlated with age and education to a certain extent， and intellectual labor was a protective factor. The most noteworthy factor was the age： the risk of the elderly over 60 years old was the highest， and only 46.70% of the youth aged from 18 had the behavior. In terms of health knowledge and behavior， there was a statistical difference between the knowledge of salt and the consumption of smoked products. The risk of the group with zero correct rate was 1.372 times higher than that of the group with all correct answers. The frequency of drinking alcohol and the risk of pickled and smoked products were basically positively correlated. In the two groups of dependent variables， people who drunk more than three times a week had the highest risk， and the risk of those who never drunk was only 32.10% compared to the drinkers.ConclusionPickled and smoked products are the characteristic food in Southwest China. Geographical factors， demographic and sociological factors， health knowledge and behavior factors are related to high-frequency consumption of pickled and smoked products. It is necessary to control the health risks brought by high-frequency eating behaviors， promote targeted health education in Yunnan， Guizhou and rural areas， and elderly and less educated groups， encourage healthy eating behaviors， and promote the “Healthy Southwest Action” of “Healthy China”.

The concept, raw materials, technology, texture, sensory, nutrition, market, patent and safety of plant-based meat products were reviewed, and the achievements and shortcomings of the development of plant-based meat products were summarized. It is indicated that the next researching should be done from the protein types of raw materials, protein molecular modification, texturized protein production technology, genetic engineering technology transformation, etc.

The Beijing‒Tianjin‒Hebei region suffers from a high bearing pressure of water resources and its water ecosystem is severely damaged. For future development, it is necessary to analyze the water security risks and propose targeted countermeasures,thus to ensure the coordinated development of the Beijing‒Tianjin‒Hebei region and build this region into a world-class urban agglomeration. In this study, we summarize the key national policies, socio-economic development trends, and ecological protection requirements of the region. In addition, we analyze the water security status and relevant major scientific issues. Our findings are as follows. (1) The contradiction between supply and demand of water resources is the primary problem that threatens water security in the Beijing‒Tianjin‒Hebei region, and water resources in the region will probably continue to decay by 1‒2 billion m3. Therefore, to guarantee the security of the regional water system, 3.9‒6 billion m3 of water needs to be transferred into this region via the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. (2) To address the shrinkage and drying of regional rivers and lakes, groundwater overexploitation, and other severe water ecological problems, we propose a layout for the ecological protection and restoration of rivers and lakes and clarify the healthy groundwater levels for different areas: 8‒20 m in piedmont plains, 3‒5 m in central plains, 6‒10 m in urban areas, and 2‒3 m in the eastern coastal area. (3) To improve the weak links of the flood control system in the region such as a low pass rate of flood control standards and the difficulty in activating flood detention areas, this region needs to strengthen the routine‒emergency integrated management and prepare countermeasures for over-level floods.

Since the Overall Planning of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project was approved 20 years ago, the supply and demand situation of water resources and water ecological environment problems in North China has undergone profound changes. Therefore, optimizing the subsequent route becomes significant for adapting to the new development situation in North China and for implementing major national strategies. The Beijing‒Tianjin‒Hebei region is the major water-receiving area of the follow-up project of the eastern route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. Analyses of the long-term supply and demand trend, spatial distribution, and structural characteristics of the Beijing‒Tianjin‒Hebei region exhibit that from the long-term supply and demand trend, the gap of water resources in this region is 3.9×109~6×109 m3, and the growth of water demand is mainly contributed by the central and western urban areas, which are also key areas for implementing national strategies such as the construction of the Xiongan New Area. Moving water supply centers westward by establishing a new route into Beijing via Baiyang Lake while usingexisting river channels allows the route of the project to cover the shallow groundwater overexploitation areas to the largest extent, which is also conducive to the supply of ecological water for rivers and lakes. By this means, the eastern route can satisfy the requirement of the region for high-quality development owing to its comparative advantages of multiple series water systems, wide coverage of artesian water, strong capacity of regulation and storage, and high comprehensive benefits. Considering the new situation of the follow-up project planning and construction, we reviewed the major issues including the function positioning, overall layout, and route orientation of the project, and proposed a conception for optimizing the follow-up project of the eastern route, thereby providing a reference for promoting the high-quality development of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.

River network connectivity is a key factor affecting watershed ecosystems and an important criterion for evaluating the health of river. The river network structure of the basin has changed dramatically in recent years due to human activity, but the response of connectivity to changes in physical structure is still poorly understood. In this paper, a dynamic index (connectivity index) based on daily-scale flow and probability density function is proposed to characterize the connectivity capacity of river networks. The Haihe River basin in China is selected as the study area, and a graphic model is constructed to assess the evolutionary structure of the river network. The 54 sections were classified into Low human impact (LHI) and High human impact (HHI), and the trends and causes of connectivity changes of the sections with the evolution of the network were analyzed. The results reveal that the river network degree and clustering coefficient keep increasing, the path length decreases and becomes more dense downstream, and the river network gradually evolves into a “small-world” network. The “small-world” characteristics improve the potential efficiency and specific functionality of the river network, but make the physical structure mismatch with the hydraulic gradient, and the network flow disperses severely, leading to a significant decrease in connectivity (HHI connectivity index is lower than LHI 52.1%). Moreover, the structural changes enhance the spatial and temporal differences in hydrological connectivity, which further restricts the function of the river system. “Small-world” and connectivity indicators (duration, start time, and intermittency) show strong correlations. Therefore, physical structure is an important factor influencing connectivity capacity of river networks. The planning and management of the watershed should consider the changes in hydrological connectivity caused by the structural modifications of the river network.

ObjectiveTo track and observe whether the long-term application of micro-electrolyzed sterile water system in laboratory animal barrier facilities can continuously maintain the terminal water aseptic.MethodsFrom April 2018 to March 2022, the microbiological detection of the micro-electrolyzed sterile water system had been tracked and monitored once each quarter in the barrier facilities of producing and breeding SPF grade rats and mice in Laboratory Animal Center of Sun Yat-sen University. Totally 8 sampling points were set, including one sampling point before the intake of the microelectrolytized water outlet into the water duct, six sampling points at the terminal water outlet, and one sampling point for the water return of the water network. Samples were taken according to aseptic operation procedures, and microelectrolysis aseptic water was detected according to the national standards GB 14925—2010 and GB/T 14926.41—2001.ResultsFrom April 2018 to March 2022, a total of 17 tests were conducted. During the normal operation of the micro-electrolyzed sterile water system, the quality of micro-electrolyzed water at 8 sampling points was sterile, in line with the national standard.ConclusionMicro-electrolyzed sterile water system can maintain the sterility of the terminal water supply, and can be used in laboratory animal barrier facilities for a long time.

In order to improve the prediction accuracy of rogue waves of the long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network, prediction methods of LSTM with convolution neural networks (CNN), empirical mode decomposition (EMD), auto-aggressive integrated moving averagel (ARIMA) model, and Kalman filtering (KF) were studied. Based on the experimental data of the rogue waves of two single-peak and one three combined peaks, prediction models were established and predicted by data normalization, model parameter optimization and error evaluation. The results show that the prediction accuracy of the four combined models is significantly improved in all the three studied conditions, and the combination with the convolutional neural network has the highest prediction accuracy. The combined models provide a feasible scheme for improving the prediction accuracy of freak waves.

In the scenarios of traffic diagnostic analysis and prediction in optical network based on deep learning, the work of traffic data collection and storage for optical link is limited due to security and other reasons. Aiming at the problem that the amount of traffic data is too small to support deep learning training, this paper proposes an optical network traffic data synthesis algorithm based on topology link recognition. The core idea is to combine the conditional generation model based on optical network topology and the data synthesis model based on optical network traffic in the framework of generative adversarial networks. The traffic data of the given optical link is synthesized in a self-supervised way. The simulation results show that the auto-correlation coefficients of the traffic data synthesized by the proposed algorithm is close to the real data, and the accuracy of the traffic prediction model based on fully connected neural network is more than 95%.

During the active alignment focusing process of car camera assembly, lenses and holders need to be gummed by creamy white and translucent UV glue. The quality of glue dispensing can directly influence the performance of car cameras. Because of the translucency of UV glue, the glue dispensing image may present a low contrast situation, which increases the difficulty of vision detection. This paper proposes a method based on CycleGAN to enhance the glue dispensing image and effectively overcome the problems of blurred and low contrast edges. First, the glue part of the image is segmented into twenty regions. Second, the VGG16 model is used to divide the abovementioned twenty regions into high-contrast images and low-contrast images. Next, the CycleGAN model is trained to enhance the low-contrast images, and then convert them to high-contrast images. Finally, glue contours are extracted by using thresholding segmentation and edge detection to ensure that the quality of glue dispensing can be detected. The success rates of the VGG16 model and the CycleGAN model are 96% and 58%, respectively. The results show that the proposed method can effectively enhance the low contrast part of the glue region and improve the detection accuracy. Specifically, it can increase the gray value difference between the glue and the background from 20 to 55, while the background is substantially retained. The detailed information of the edges of the images is enriched. The accuracy of glue edge extraction can be increased to 99%, which is an approximately 75% improvement compared to the methods without enhancement.

The pollution of soil with heavy metals is an increasingly serious worldwide problem, and cadmium (Cd) has attracted attention because of its high toxicity to almost all plants. Since castor tolerates the accumulation of heavy metals, it has the potential for heavy metal soil remediation. We studied the mechanism of the tolerance of castor to Cd stress treatments at three doses: 300 mg/L, 700 mg/L, and 1,000 mg/L. This research provides new ideas for revealing the defense and detoxification mechanisms of Cd-stressed castor. By combining the results of physiology, differential proteomics and comparative metabolomics, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the networks that regulate the response of castor to Cd stress. The physiological results mainly emphasize the super-sensitive responses of castor plant roots to Cd stress and the effects of Cd stress on plants’ antioxidant system, ATP synthesis and ion homeostasis. We confirmed these results at the protein and metabolite levels. In addition, proteomics and metabolomics indicated that under Cd stress, the expressions of proteins involved in defense and detoxification, energy metabolism and other metabolites such as organic acids and flavonoids were significantly up-regulated. At the same time, proteomics and metabolomics also show that castor plants mainly block the root system’s absorption of Cd2+ by enhancing the strength of the cell wall, and inducing programmed cell death in response to the three different doses of Cd stress. In addition, the plasma membrane ATPase encoding gene (RcHA4), which was significantly upregulated in our differential proteomics and RT-qPCR studies, was transgenically overexpressed in wild type Arabidopsis thaliana for functional verification. The results indicated that this gene plays an important role in improving plant Cd tolerance.

With the vigorous development of network technology, optical networks are developing in the direction of ultra-highspeed and large-capacity. Since the structure of the optical network is becoming more complex.the optical signal will inevitably suffer various impairments in the optical network. In optical communication equipment, the most important parameter of the physical layer is the Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR). Its value directly determines whether the service can operate normally. Once the requirements are not met, it will cause transmission errors or failures, reducing service quality, and transmission consumption. This paper proposes an accurate and efficient OSNR prediction method for optical communication nodes. By combining analytic prior knowledge methods and deep learning-based posterior knowledge methods, an optical communication node OSNR based on hybrid machine learning algorithms are proposed. The prediction method uses prior knowledge to reduce the training cost of neural networks and provides high-accuracy OSNR predictions. The result shows that the method proposed in this paper can provide high-accuracy machine learning models under more demanding conditions.

【Objective】 Understanding evolutionary change in groundwater table depth and its underlying driving forces in a region can help improve its water management. Taking an irrigation district in Qingtongxia of China as an example, this paper analyzes the temporal variation in its groundwater table, as well as the factors that drive this change. 【Method】 The analysis was based on regional water balance calculated using the data measured from 1998 to 2017 in an irrigation district in Qingtongxia. The factors we envisaged to have impacted the groundwater dynamics in this region included irrigation areas, canal leakage, infiltration of rainfall and irrigation water. 【Result】 The groundwater table in the studied region had been dropping at an average rate of 0.038 m/a from 1998 to 2017. Annually, the groundwater level showed two alternate rising-fall cycles. Spatially, the groundwater table in the region around Yinchuan dropped more significantly, forming a depressed zone in the urban of Yinchuan and Dawukou in Yinbei irrigation district. The factors modulating inter-annual groundwater table change and their contribution (numbers in the bracket) were ranked in the order of recharge from canal leakage (39.71%) > lateral groundwater flow (28.24%) > groundwater evaporation (14.16%) > field infiltration (7.46%). The recharge of canal leakage from April to August as well as in November contributed most to the rise in the groundwater table (45.33%), while the lateral groundwater flow from September to October and December was the first driving force (45.6%) of the fall in the groundwater table. Spatially, the change in groundwater table was mainly driven by leakage of the canals, with the impact of other factors varying with region. In areas around Yinchuan, Yinnan and Hedong, the lateral groundwater flow impacted the groundwater table change the most, while in areas around Yinbei, groundwater evaporation played the dominant role. 【Conclusion】 The continued reduction in water allowed to divert from the Yellow River to the irrigation district is the driving force affecting the dropping in groundwater table in Qingtongxia, and keeping the groundwater table at an optimal depth is essential to maintaining ecological functions while in the meantime preventing salt accumulation on the soil surface in this region.

As the optical network structure becomes larger and more complex, optical network faults are more likely to occur. After a network fault occurs, due to the derivative characteristics of network alarms, the root cause alarms will generate multiple derivative alarms. Therefore, after network faults occur, the network management system will receive alarm storms. Due to the complex relationship between faults and alarms, the difficulty of locating network faults, especially multiple faults, has also risen sharply. In response to this problem, the knowledge graph technology that is good at managing massive amounts of information and revealing the characteristics of data is introduced into optical networks. The alarm knowledge graph contains rich relationships between alarms, which can be completed by combining Graph Neural Network (GNN) technology. The knowledge-guided automatic reasoning of the root cause of network faults is in line with the fault location ideas of the operation and maintenance personnel in the operation and maintenance process. Further, the network topology information is added in the fault location process, and the knowledge dimension of the knowledge graph is improved. The limitation of the single-fault scenario is lifted, and a high accuracy rate is obtained in the multi-fault location scenario.

Background: Epilepsy in childhood is a common and diverse neurological disorder. We conducted a genetic and phenotype analysis of a Chinese cohort of infants and children with epilepsy.Methods: We conducted a pedigree analysis of 260 Chinese patients with epilepsy onset during infancy or childhood by whole exome sequencing (WES).Results: Of the 260 probands analyzed, a genetic diagnosis was established in 135 patients. One-hundred eighty-eight phenotypes were detected in those 135 positive/likely positive patients, 106 patients had more than two phenotypes, and 67 patients had more than three phenotypes. A total of 142 variants of 81 genes were detected among the positive/likely positive patients. Among these 142 variants, of which 87 of 66 genes were novel.Conclusion: Our findings extend the variant spectrum of genes related to epilepsy. Our results will be useful for genetic testing and counseling for patients with epilepsy.

Sevoflurane, a volatile anesthetic, is known to induce widespread neuronal degeneration and apoptosis. Recently, the stress-inducible protein sestrin 2 and adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) have been found to regulate the levels of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppress oxidative stress. Notoginsenoside R1 (NGR1), a saponin isolated from Panax notoginseng, has been shown to exert neuroprotective effects. The effects of NGR1 against neurotoxicity induced by sevoflurane were assessed.

Increased focus on scientific developments and technological innovations and continuously rising research funding have led to numerous cases of research misconduct that blurs the boundaries between ethics, science, and culture. In our paper, we aim to develop a framework for understanding management and governance in the self-discipline stance, based on case studies from Japan. We adopted a quantity approach by examining cases from 2015 to 2019 provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology of Japan (MEXT), seeking to analyze the relationship between the handling of research misconduct in Japan and the relevant national regulations from the perspective of behavior definition, investigation process, responsibility, the process of the investigator, and handling measures. The results of this analysis will help to determine improved methods for processing and making decisions, and conducting assessments while examining cases of research misconduct.

Background: Esophageal diverticulum (ED) is an extremely rare complication of congenital esophageal atresia (EA) with or without tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) surgery. We aimed to investigate feasible methods for the treatment of this rare complication.Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all patients with EA/TEF at Beijing Children's Hospital from January 2015 to September 2019. The clinicopathological features of patients with ED after EA/TEF surgery were recorded. Follow-up was routinely performed after surgery until December 2020.Results: Among 198 patients with EA/TEF, ED only occurred in four patients (2.02%; one male, three female). The four patients had varying complications after the initial operation, including anastomotic leakage (3/4), esophageal stenosis (3/4), and recurrence of TEF (1/4). The main clinical symptoms of ED included recurrent pneumonia (4/4), coughing (4/4), and dysphagia (3/4). All ED cases occurred near the esophageal anastomosis. Patients' age at the time of diverticulum repair was 6.6–16.8 months. All patients underwent thoracoscopic esophageal diverticulectomy (operation time: 1.5–3.5 h). Anastomotic leakage occurred in one patient and spontaneously healed after 2 weeks. The other three patients had no peri-operative complications. All patients were routinely followed up after surgery for 14–36 months. During the follow-up period, all patients could eat orally, had good growth and weight gain, and showed no ED recurrence or anastomotic leakage on esophagogram.Conclusions: ED is a rare complication after EA/TEF surgery and is a clear indication for diverticulectomy. During the midterm follow-up, thoracoscopic esophageal diverticulectomy was safe and effective for ED after EA/TEF surgery.

In view of the problem of lack of gas drainage concentration control and the high energy consumption of the water ring vacuum pump in the extensive control method of existing coal mine gas drainage control, a coal mine gas drainage concentration control system was designed. The system is based on the hierarchical adjustment idea, and under the centralized control of the control program, the gas concentration in the extraction pipeline is detected by the gas concentration sensor, the gas concentration change rate is calculated by the PLC logic operation function, and then the opening degree of electric gas control valve and the variable frequency motor speed of water ring vacuum pump are adjusted by grade according to the change of gas concentration to increase the concentration of gas extracted, so as to improve utilization rate of the extraction gas. The test results show that the control system can effectively increase the gas concentration of the extraction, and the gas concentration can be increased by 3.6%-4.2%, which greatly improves the gas utilization rate of the extraction. And the energy saving effect is obvious, the energy saving effect is improved by 24% after the gas drainage concentration control.

Linear regression models are foundation of current statistical theory and have been a prominent object of study in statistical data analysis and inference. A special class of linear regression models is called the seemingly unrelated regression models (SURMs) which allow correlated observations between different regression equations. In this article, we present a general approach to SURMs under some general assumptions, including establishing closed-form expressions of the best linear unbiased predictors (BLUPs) and the best linear unbiased estimators (BLUEs) of all unknown parameters in the models, establishing necessary and sufficient conditions for a family of equalities of the predictors and estimators under the single models and the combined model to hold. Some fundamental and valuable properties of the BLUPs and BLUEs under the SURM are also presented.

Due to the scarcity of rock samples, the Hadean Era predating 4 billion years ago (Ga) poses challenges in understanding geological processes like subaerial weathering and plate tectonics that are critical for the evolution of life. The Jack Hills zircon from Western Australia, the primary Hadean samples available, offer valuable insights into magma sources and tectonic genesis through trace element signatures. However, a consensus on these signatures has not been reached. To address this, we developed a machine learning classifier capable of deciphering the geochemical fingerprints of zircon. This allowed us to identify the oldest detrital zircon originating from sedimentary-derived S-type granites. Our results indicate the presence of S-type granites as early as 4.24 Ga, persisting throughout the Hadean into the Archean. Examining global detrital zircon across Earths history reveals consistent supercontinent-like cycles from the present back to the Hadean. These findings suggest that a significant amount of Hadean continental crust was exposed, weathered into sediments, and incorporated into the magma sources of Jack Hills zircon. Only the early operation of both subaerial weathering and plate subduction can account for the prevalence of S-type granites we observe. Additionally, the periodic evolution of S-type granite proportions implies that subduction-driven tectonic cycles were active during the Hadean, at least around 4.2 Ga. The evidence thus points toward an early Earth resembling the modern Earth in terms of active tectonics and habitable surface conditions. This suggests the potential for life to originate in environments like warm ponds rather than extreme hydrothermal settings.

Developing the world-renowned leading science associations is the reform idea proposed by China Association for Science and Technology. We choose China Anti-Cancer Association, American Clinical Oncology Society, American Association for Cancer Research and Union for International Cancer Control as research subjects to analyze the common points and the differences of operational model and governance system using the method of literature review and comparative analytical approach. Based on the study, this article explores a feasible way to achieve the purpose of establishing the world-renowned cancer societies in China.
