Objective: To assess the levels of serum glycocalyx markers in the first 24 hours after cardiac arrest (CA) and investigate their relationship with 30-day outcomes. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on prospectively collected data from CA patients, who were admitted to the intensive care units of the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University and obtained return of spontaneous circulation for more than 24 hours between September 2021 and October 2022. Serum samples obtained at the 24-hour after CA were utilized to measure the levels of glycocalyx markers, including heparan sulfate (HS), hyaluronic acid (HA), and syndecan-1 (Sdc-1). Patients were allocated into good function (CPC1-2) and poor function (CPC3-5) groups on the basis of cerebral performance category (CPC) at 30 days post-CA. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the association between serum glycocalyx markers and neurological outcomes. Patients were regrouped in light of 30-d mortality and Cox regression analysis was used to determine the association between serum glycocalyx markers and 30-d mortality. Results: A total of 71 patients were included in the study, including 31 (43.7%) females and 40 (56.3%) males, with an average age of (59.0±17.0) years. The poor function group ( n =49) demonstrated significantly elevated levels of HS and HA when compared to the good function group ( n =22) [HS: 2 461.0(1 623.0, 5 492.0) μg/L vs 1 492.0 (914.0, 2 550.0) μg/L, P =0.008; HA: 124.0(97.0, 365.0)μg/L vs 337.0(135.0, 1 421.0) μg/L, P =0.033]. Adjusted logistic regression analysis revealed that HS was independently associated with poor neurological outcome [odds ratio ( OR )=0.389, 95% confidence interval ( CI ): 0.182-0.828, P =0.014]. In the 30-day mortality analysis, the death group ( n =32) exhibited significantly higher levels of HS and HA when compared to the survival group ( n =39) [HS: 1 880.0(1 011.0, 3 554.0) μg/L vs 2 500.0(1 726.0, 6 276.0) μg/L, P =0.027; HA: 162.0(99.0, 537.0) μg/L vs 813.0(148.0, 1 531.0) μg/L, P =0.025]. Adjusted Cox regression analysis indicated that elevated levels of HS and HA were independent risk factors (HS: HR =1.697, 95% CI : 1.126-2.557, P =0.011; HA: HR =1.336, 95% CI : 1.047-1.705, P =0.020) for 30-day mortality. Conclusions: High level of serum HS in 24 hours after CA may serve as a potential predictive marker for both neurological function and 30-day mortality. However, high level of serum HA appears to primarily predict 30-day mortality. Sdc-1 does not seem to contribute to outcome prediction.

Objective: This study aims to investigate physicians' familiarity and awareness of four diabetes guidelines and their practice of the recommendations outlined in these guidelines., Design: A cross-sectional study., Setting: An online questionnaire survey was conducted among physicians affiliated with the Specialist Committee for Primary Diabetes Care of China Association of Chinese Medicine, using the snowball sampling method to ensure a broader representation of physicians., Participants: 1150 physicians from 192 cities across 30 provinces in China provided complete data., Results: Tertiary care hospital physicians (TCPs) exhibited the highest familiarity with the Guideline for the Prevention and Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in China (91.3%), followed by the National Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Diabetes in Primary Care (76.8%), the Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes (72.2%) and the Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes in Chinese Medicine (63.8%). Primary care practitioners (PCPs) exhibited familiarity with these four guidelines at about 50% or less. Self-reported reference to modern diabetes guidelines by physicians is more frequent than traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diabetes guidelines, with rates at 73.2% and 33.8%, respectively. Approximately 90% of physicians provided instructions on self-monitoring of blood glucose to their patients with diabetes. Less than one-third of physicians referred patients to a specialised nutritionist. In terms of health education management, TCPs reported having a diabetes health management team at the rate of 75.7%, followed by secondary care hospital physicians at 57.0% and PCPs at 27.5%. Furthermore, approximately 40% of physicians did not fully grasp hypoglycaemia characteristics., Conclusions: Familiarity and awareness of the screening guidelines varied among physicians in different hospital settings. Importantly, significant discrepancies were observed between physicians' awareness and their self-reported reference to modern medicine guidelines and TCM guidelines. Wenjiu YiBao is a professional acupuncture and moxibustion journal founded by The Oriental Acupuncture Scoiety in 1931, which aims to introduce and popularize Japanese Wenjiu(warm moxibustion) to Chinese readers. This article systematically introduces the editorial team, distribution situation, establishment of columns, and analyzes the reasons of its establishment.It is believed that the driving force of scientific trends and the need for teaching and communication are the reasons for its establishment. The characteristics of this journal include focusing on Wenjiu, promoting science, emphasizing practical effectiveness, and promoting teaching interaction. Wenjiu YiBao played a promoting role in the application of Japanese warm moxibustion and the development of warm moxibustion education in China. However, there are also shortcomings in exaggerating the efficacy of warm moxibustion, emphasizing too much of Western scientific thought, and translating Japanese warm moxibustion knowledge without further conducting local scientific research.

COVID-19, referred to as new coronary pneumonia, is an acute infectious disease caused by a new type of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. To evaluate the effect of integrated Chinese medicine and Western medicine in patients with COVID-19 from overseas. Data were collected from 178 COVID-19 patients overseas at First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University from April 1, 2021 to July 31, 2021. These patients received therapy of integrated Chinese medicine and western medicine. Demographic data and clinical characteristics were extracted and analyzed. In addition, the prescription which induced less length of PCR positive days and hospitalization days than the median value was obtained. The top 4 frequently used Chinese medicine and virus-related genes were analyzed by network pharmacology and bioinformatics analysis. According to the chest computed tomography (CT) measurement, abnormal lung findings were observed in 145 subjects. The median length of positive PCR/hospitalization days was 7/7 days for asymptomatic subjects, 14/24 days for mild subjects, 10/15 days for moderate subjects, and 14/20 days for severe subjects. The most frequently used Chinese medicine were Scutellaria baicalensis (Huangqin), Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Gancao) , Bupleurum chinense (Chaihu), and Pinellia ternata (Banxia). The putative active ingredients were baicalin, stigmasterol, sigmoidin-B, cubebin, and troxerutin. ACE, SARS-CoV-2 3CL, SARS-CoV-2 Spike, SARS-CoV-2 ORF7a, and caspase-6 showed good binding properties to active ingredients. In conclusion, the clinical results showed that integrated Chinese medicine and Western medicine are effective in treating COVID-19 patients from overseas. The objective of this study was to investigate the single- and multiple-dose pharmacokinetics of chelerythrine (CHE) and its metabolite, dihydrochelerythrine (DHCHE), after oral and IM administrations in pigs.Six crossbreed (Landrace × Large White) female pigs (7-8 weeks old; 24.1 ± 2.6 kg bw) administered oral and IM CHE at a dose of 0.1 mg/kg orally and intramuscularly in a cross-over design. Multiple oral administration was performed at 0.1 mg/kg a time, three times a day at 8-h intervals for three consecutive days. Blood samples were collected from the anterior vena cava and placed into heparinized centrifuge tubes before dosing (time 0 h) and at different times after oral and IM administrations. Pre-treatment plasma was analysed by high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.After IM administration, CHE and DHCHE rapidly reached peak concentrations ( C max , 69.79 ± 15.41 and 3.47 ± 1.23 ng/mL) at 0.42 ± 0.13 and 0.33 ± 0.13 h, respectively. After single oral administration, CHE and DHCHE rapidly increased to reach C max of 5.04 ± 1.00 and 1.21 ± 0.35 ng/mL at 1.83 ± 0.26 and 1.67 ± 0.26 h, respectively. The half-life ( T 1/2 ) was 2.03 ± 0.26 and 2.56 ± 1.00 h for CHE and DHCHE, respectively. After multiple oral administration, the average steady-state concentrations ( C ss ) of CHE and DHCHE were 2.51 ± 0.40 and 0.6 ± 0.06 ng/mL, respectively.CHE is metabolized rapidly after a single oral administration, multiple daily doses and long-term use of CHE are recommended.

Phenol, o-cresol, p-cresol, catechol and resorcinol are five phenolic compounds with extremely similar structure. Their fluorescence spectra are hard to be analyzed because of the serious spectral overlaps between any two of the five phenolic components in the mixture system. In this experiment, multi-dimensional partial least-squares (N-PLS), unfolded partial least-squares (U-PLS) with residual bilinearization (RBL) and parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) are employed to analyze the three-way fluorescence spectra aiming to achieve quantitative results. Meanwhile, a contrast of these three methods is given. Objective: To explore the optimal matching of the current parameters about artificial facial nerve (AFN) for inducing contraction of the orbicularis oris muscle (OOM) in rabbit with peripheral facial paralysis. Methods: According to the combinations of different stimulus parameters, at different time points, we used AFN to induce contraction of the affected side OOM of the paralyzed rabbit in waking state. We recorded the current amplitudes of the threshold stimulation and peak stimulation under each combination, then compared the total charge of the stimulus consumption under different combinations. Results: Compared the total stimulus charge consumption of the AFN threshold stimulation and that in the peak stimulation respectively under different stimulus frequency and pulse width matching combinations, we found that the frequency, the pulse width and the interaction of the frequency and pulse width among different groups could affect the total charge, the differences were statistically significant ( P <0.05). Conclusions: When AFN stimulus frequency is 60 Hz and the stimulus pulse width is 100 μs, the output current intensity is relatively lowest and the total consumed charge is the lowest under the premise of effectively inducing the paralytic side OOM contraction. Thus we recommend this stimulus parametric combination as the optimal combination for meeting the low power consumption of AFN.

Sanguinarine (SA) is a benzo[c] phenanthridine alkaloid which has a variety of pharmacological properties. However, very little was known about the pharmacokinetics of SA and its metabolite dihydrosanguinarine (DHSA) in pigs. The purpose of this work was to study the intestinal metabolism of SA in vitro and in vivo. Reductive metabolite DHSA was detected during incubation of SA with intestinal mucosa microsomes, cytosol, and gut flora. After oral (p.o.) administration of SA, the result showed SA might be reduced to DHSA in pig intestine. After i.m. administration, SA and DHSA rapidly increased to reach their peak concentrations (C max , 30.16 ± 5.85, 5.61 ± 0.73 ng/ml, respectively) at 0.25 hr. Both compounds were completely eliminated from the plasma after 24 hr. After single oral administration, SA and DHSA rapidly increased to reach their C max (3.41 ± 0.36, 2.41 ± 0.24 ng/ml, respectively) at 2.75 ± 0.27 hr. The half-life (T 1/2 ) values were 2.33 ± 0.11 hr and 2.20 ± 0.12 hr for SA and DHSA, respectively. After multiple oral administration, the average steady-state concentrations (C ss ) of SA and DHSA were 3.03 ± 0.39 and 1.42 ± 0.20 ng/ml. The accumulation indexes for SA and DHSA were 1.21 and 1.11. The work reported here provides important information on the metabolism sites and pharmacokinetic character of SA. This study assessed the relationship between occupation and Intracerebral Hemorrhage-related deaths and compared the differences in ICH-related deaths rates between the eastern and midwestern regions of Inner Mongolia. We used the case-control method. Cases included Intracerebral Hemorrhage-related deaths that occurred from 2009 to 2012 in Inner Mongolia while controls included non-circulatory system disease deaths that occurred during the same period. Odds ratios (ORs) for Intracerebral Hemorrhage-related deaths were calculated using logistic regression analysis, estimated according to occupation, and adjusted for marital status and age. The Intracerebral Hemorrhage mortality rate in the eastern regions (125.19/100000) was nearly 3 times higher than that in the midwestern regions (45.31/100000). ORs for agriculture-livestock workers, service professionals and general workers, professional workers and senior officials were in descending order. The age-adjusted OR for Intracerebral Hemorrhage-related deaths was lowest in unmarried men senior officials (OR 0.37, 95% CI 0.14-0.99). The Intracerebral Hemorrhage mortality rate in the eastern regions was much higher than that of the midwestern regions, since about 90% of Intracerebral Hemorrhage-related deaths in the eastern regions were those of agriculture-livestock workers who has the largest labor intensity of any other occupation assessed.

Heavy metal pollution from industrial wastewater is an important source. A method for heavy metals determination in industrial wastewater based on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique was studied and the on-line monitoring system that used automatic graphite enrichment and spatial plasma confinement detection was developed and field demonstrated. The limits of detection (LOD) of heavy metal elements (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn) could reach several μg/L. In Tongling, the on-line heavy metal monitor was field demonstrated. The calibration curves of copper and zinc were built on site, and then on-line monitoring was conducted. The measurement results of this monitor were compared with ICP-OES and had a good correlation. The results showed that the heavy metal monitor could be used for on-line detection of heavy metals in wastewater and had a good reliability.

Curcumin is a well‑known phenolic substance and has many pharmacological effects associated with metabolism. However, the exact molecular mechanisms underlying this process have yet to be determined. The Notch pathway is a signal transduction pathway involved in energy metabolism. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of curcumin administration on glucose‑lipid metabolism in rats subjected to a high fat diet, and investigate changes in Notch‑1 signaling. Sprague‑Dawley rats (n=40) were randomly divided into four groups (10 rats/group): Control diet group, high fat diet group, high fat diet plus curcumin low dose group and high fat diet plus curcumin high dose group. Following 8 weeks of treatment with curcumin (100 mg/kg in the low dose group and 200 mg/kg in the high dose group), serum metabolic markers and hepatic gene expression patterns were investigated. No differences in body weight following 8 weeks of curcumin administration (P>0.05) were observed; however, curcumin treatment did reduce visceral fat levels (peri‑epididymal and peri‑renal), and decreased cholesterol, triglyceride and low‑density lipoprotein levels in serum compared with the high fat diet rats that did not receive curcumin (P<0.05, P<0.01). An oral glucose tolerance test and an intraperitoneal insulin tolerance test revealed that insulin resistance was reduced (P<0.05 or P<0.01) and tissue section analysis revealed that hepatosteatosis was attenuated following treatment with curcumin. Furthermore, the protein expression of Notch‑1 and its downstream target Hes‑1 were suppressed. These effects were also in parallel with an upregulation of fatty acid oxidation‑associated gene expression, including peroxisome proliferator‑activated receptor (PPAR)‑α, carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 and PPAR‑γ (P<0.05). In addition, curcumin administration led to a downregulation in the expression of lipogenic genes, including sterol regulatory element‑binding protein, fatty acid synthase and acetyl‑CoA carboxylase (P<0.05). The expression of inflammation‑associated genes, including nuclear factor‑κB, tumor necrosis factor‑α and prostaglandin‑endoperoxide synthase 2 were also suppressed. The results of the present study suggest that the hepatic Notch‑1 pathway can be suppressed via curcumin treatment, which may ameliorate fatty liver and insulin resistance in rats subjected to a high fat diet.

Objective: To explore the optimal positions of the implanted stimulating eletrodes for artificial facial nerve (AFN) for inducing contraction of the orbicularis oris muscle (OOM) in rabbit with peripheral facial paralysis. Methods: According to the four microelectrodes of the AFN stimulating side, four modes of the implanted positions were divided. In line with different modes, the electrodes were implanted into the affected OOM of the rabbits with unilateral peripheral facial paralysis. AFN output electric stimulation to induce contraction of the affected OOM with uniform stimulating frequency and pulse length in vitro. Then compared the stimulus threshold amplitude and the peak amplitude separately among different modes by SAS 9.3 version statistical software. Results: The differences of the stimulus threshold amplitude and the peak amplitude had no statistically significant separately between the first mode and the second mode ( P >0.05), but there were statistically significant differences between the third mode and the fourth mode ( P <0.05). Both kinds of the amplitudes were approximated between the first mode and the second mode respectively, and higher than those in the third mode or the fourth mode. Furthermore, both kinds of the amplitudes in the fourth mode were higher than those in the third mode. Conclusions: The microelectrodes of the AFN stimulating lateral are implanted into the upper lip with a public microelectrode and an output microelectrode, into the lower lip with an output microelectrode, and into the way, which is located to the angle 40° to 45° about the line joining between the midpoint of the ipsilateral auricle root and the corner of the mouth with an output microelectrode. This is the third positional mode which requires lowest effective stimulus current intensity. Thus the mode is suitable as the optimal placement programme.

Traditional laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) always fails to directly detect target in aqueous solution due to rapid quenching of emitted light and adsorption of pulse energy by surrounding water. A method is proposed for the in situ underwater LIBS analysis of Cr(VI) in aqueous solution freed from the common problems mentioned above by combining a gas-assisted localized liquid discharge apparatus with electrosorption for the first time. In this approach, the introduction of the gas-assisted localized liquid discharge apparatus provides an instantaneous gaseous environment for underwater LIBS measurement (that is, the transfer of sampling matrix is not needed from aqueous solution to dry state). The preconcentration of Cr(VI) is achieved by electrosorption with a positive potential applied around adsorbents, which can promote the adsorption of Cr(VI) and inhibit that of the coexisting cations leading to a good anti-interference. Amino groups functionalized chitosan-modified graphene oxide (CS-GO) is utilized for Cr(VI) enrichment, which can be protonated to form NH 3 + in acidic condition promoting the adsorption toward Cr(VI) by electrostatic attraction. The highest detection sensitivity of 5.15 counts μg -1 L toward Cr(VI) is found for the optimized electrosorption potential (E ES = 1.5 V) and electrosorption time (t ES = 600 s) without interference from coexisting metal ions. A corresponding limit of detection (LOD) of 12.3 μg L -1 (3σ method) is achieved, which is amazingly improved by 2 or even 3 orders of magnitude compared to the previous reports of LIBS.

Colloidal quantum dots (QDs) have demonstrated great promise in artificial photosynthesis. However, the ultrasmall size hinders its controllable and effective interaction with cocatalysts. To improve the poor interparticle electronic communication between free QD and cocatalyst, we design here a self-assembled architecture of nanoparticles, QDs and Pt nanoparticles, simply jointed together by molecular polyacrylate to greatly enhance the rate and efficiency of interfacial electron transfer (ET). The enhanced interparticle electronic communication is confirmed by femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy and X-ray transient absorption. Taking advantage of the enhanced interparticle ET with a time scale of ∼65 ps, 5.0 mL of assembled CdSe/CdS QDs/cocatalysts solution produces 94 ± 1.5 mL (4183 ± 67 μmol) of molecular H 2 in 8 h, giving rise to an internal quantum yield of ∼65% in the first 30 min and a total turnover number of >1.64 × 10 7 per Pt nanoparticle. This study demonstrates that self-assembly is a promising way to improve the sluggish kinetics of the interparticle ET process, which is the key step for advanced H 2 photosynthesis.

In order to improve the detection sensitivity of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and lower the limit of the detection of elements, LIBS combined with Aluminum electrode enrichment method is adopted to analyze heavy metals such as Pb,Cdand Ni in the water. The relationship between the characteristic spectral intensity and the key parameters-voltage of electrode method is discussed, the spectral intensity increases first and then decreases with the increase of voltage. The spectral intensity reaches the maximum value when the enrichment voltage is 1.2 V while the optimal enrichment voltage value is 1.2 V. The stability of characteristic spectral lines of heavy metals is studied, and the relative standard deviation(RSD) of spectral intensity of Pb, Cd and Ni is 5.98％，4.25 ％ and 5.27％ respectively, the result shows that the spectral line obtained by this method has high stability. A series of samples in the range of 0~0.13 mg·L-1 are prepared and quantitatively analyzed, the limit of detection of Pb, Cd and Ni is obtained 1.2，3.1 and 1.7 ppb respectively. The above result shows that LIBS combined with aluminum electrode enrichment method can effectively improve the stability of characteristic spectral lines and lower the limit of detection of Pb,Cd and Ni. This research also provides a method to further improve detection sensitivity of LIBS and analysis ability of heavy metal in the water.

The impact analysis of different environments on the fluorescence emission spectrum of pesticides is critical in detecting the concentration of pesticides. In this paper, three kinds of pesticides, carbendazim, carbaryl and fuberidazole, were selected as the research objects. Under different environment, such as different pH values and the presence of different common anion or cation, three-dimensional fluorescence spectral emission (EEM) characteristic of pesticides were analyzed. The experimental results showed that the primary fluorescence peaks for three kinds of pesticides were at λex/λem=280/300, 310/340 and 280/335 nm (respectively); Carbendazim and fuberidazole had a secondary peak at 245/305 nm (PeakB) and 250/340 nm (PeakB). We can come to the conclusion that with the change of pH value, the characteristic of fluorescence emission of carbendazim and fuberidazole is similar. We can find that the fluorescence intensities of carbendazim and fuberidazole were enhanced with the declining of the solution acidity or alkalinity and the fluorescence intensity of carbaryl had not changed with the declining of the solution acidity, but it increased with the declining of the solution alkalinity; the fluorescence emission spectra of the three kinds of pesticides had good fluorescence characteristics with the scope of the pH varying from 6.16 to 7.4. Twelve common ions in water (CO2-3，SO2-4，NO-3，Cl-，HPO2-4，HCO-3，Mg2+，Zn2+，NH+4，Na+，Ca2+，K+) had no significant effect on fluorescence emission characteristics of carbendazim and fuberidazole. The fluorescence intensities were seriously influenced by Fe3+ and Cu2+. The results showed that the pesticides fluorescence intensities were decreased with the ion concentration increasing. It was necessary to consider the quenching effects on pesticides of Fe3+ and Cu2+for the analytic results. The obtained results provided the basic research for improving the accuracy of the heterocyclic pesticides measurement in water.

The structures of bacterial cells are analyzed in this paper. The scattering components of individual cell were divided into two parts including external structure and internal structure. The interpretation model of bacteria about scattering light is established. The model is used to analyze the scattering light of Escherichia coli in the region of 400~900 nm. The average size of external structure and the internal structure can be obtained, and the ratio of the two parts is also obtained. According to the relationship of the optical density of single cell and the overall measurement, the concentration of bacterial can be obtained quickly. The maximum difference in all the concentrations of the bacteria repeated measurements is 1.83%; compared with the plate culture method, the measurement results were in the same order of magnitude, with relative error of 3.43%. The scattering light of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae are analyzed in different growth stages, the curves of the concentration and the size of the two species bacteria over time are obtained. The results can provide a quick way for the study of bacterial growth and technical support for rapid detection of bacteria in the water.

In order to improve the detection sensitivity and spectral characteristic of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), re-heating orthogonal dual-pulse configuration is adopted to analyze Fe, Pb, Ca and Mg contained in the sample and soil sample contained different concentrations of heavy mental Cr. Variation relationship between spectral intensity, signal-to-background(SBR) of four characteristic spectral lines FeⅠ：404.581 nm，PbⅠ：405.78 nm，CaⅠ：422.67 nm and MgⅠ：518.361 nm and time interval of two laser pulses is discussed, the best time interval of two laser pulses is obtained 1.0 μs. In the condition of single pulse and dual-pulse, the enhancement factor of spectral intensity of four characteristic spectral lines FeⅠ：404.581 nm，PbⅠ：405.78 nm，CaⅠ：422.67 nm and MgⅠ：518.361 nm is respectively 2.23，2.31，2.42 and 2.10; The time evolution characteristic of spectral intensity of characteristic spectral lines FeⅠ：404.581 nm and CaⅠ：422.67 nm is considered, and also the variation relationship between spectral acquisition delay time and SBR of four characteristic spectral lines, dual-pulse can prolong decay time of spectral intensity and improve the SBR of characteristic spectral lines; time evolution characteristic of plasma temperature and electron density is compared in the condition of single pulse and dual-pulse, maximum elevation of plasma temperature is found to be 730 K, and the maximum increase of electron density is 1.8×1016 cm-3. The limits of detection of heavy mental Cr are obtained 38 and 20 μg·g-1 respectively in condition of single and double pulse, limit of detection of Cr is reduced approximately 2 times by the condition of re-heating orthogonal dual pulse. Results above indicate that re-heating orthogonal dual-pulse can improve detection sensibility and spectral characteristic of LIBS technique, which provides an effective method for decreasing the limit of detection of elements.

Soil classification is an important research content in soil science field. It is the basis of soil survey and resource evaluation which is important to agricultural production. There are many soil classification standards all over the world. China has two kinds of classifications including soil genetic classification and soil system classification. There are great differences between different types of soil elements, so it is feasible for soil classification to use laser induced breakdown spectroscopy. Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a new element analysis technology which uses a laser pulse with high energy density to ablate samples. LIBS has been used in many fields including environmental protection and industrial production control. It can directly reflect the difference of element content in different soils. The experimental setup including an Nd: YAG laser, a spectrometer, a computer and a rotating platform. In the experiment 7 kinds of soil (red soil, brick red soil, lateritic red soil, paddy soil, cinnamon, alluvial soil and alpine meadow soil) including 25 samples were used. All soil samples were grinded and sieved before the experiment. Under the same experimental condition, the temperatures of the plasma created by the laser pulses on the surface of the different soil samples have great differences. The lateritic red soil had the highest temperature, and the alpine meadow soil had the lowest. But it was not enough to form the basis for classification. Therefore six constant elements including Si, Fe, Al, Mg, Ca and Ti were selected and their spectral line intensity were treated as classification index. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to simplify the classification process. The PCA method could simplify the 6 indexes to few independent indexes which could also reflect the spectral information of the 6 elements. The original spectral data was processed by Matlab. The process consisted of spectral background removal, characteristic spectrum identify and extraction. The classification results showed a three--dimensional figure. Except alpine meadow soil which varied in element concentrations 6 kinds of soils achieved good classification. The brick red soil and lateritic red soil varied in PC1, but their PC2s and PC3s were the same. The two kinds of soil overlapped with each other and they couldn’t be separated. Back-propagation artificial network was also used to achieve soil classification. The classification results were the same with the PCA. Some brick red soil and lateritic red soil samples were identified inaccurately. When the PC1, 2, 3 were used as the input of the BP-neural network, the classification had much better accuracy because less input improved the performance of the BP-neural network. Only one alpine meadow soil sample was identified to cinnamon soil. When the plasma temperature was also taken into account, all the soil samples could be distinguished. The results showed that LIBS could be used to classify soils based on their element content differences. The PCA, soil plasma temperature and BP-neural network were useful tools to achieve soil classification. The LIBS provides a useful tool for general detailed soil survey and rational utilization of soil.

The mixed samples of nylon film enrichment of Cr, Pb and Cd three elements and glass fiber membrane filter were as the research object. With the method of superposition of membrane filter, the XRF spectra were measured under different thin film samples thicknesses. According the changes of characteristic XRF of Cr, Pb and Cd elements in the mixed sample and Ca, As and Sr elements in glass fiber membranes, the effects of sample thickness on thin film method XRF spectrum measurement were studied. The study results showed that the effects of thin film sample thickness on the fluorescent properties of elements with characteristic spectral lines in different energy ranges were different. The energy of characteristic spectral lines was greater, the loss of element characteristic X-ray fluorescence when it passed through membrane and reached detector was less. But matrix effect caused by thin film sample thickness increase was stronger with the energy of characteristic spectral lines greater. The background fluorescent intensity in corresponding characteristic spectral line location was greater. So the impact of matrix effect caused by sample thickness increase on thin film method XRF spectrum measurement sensitivity was greater. For elements with low energy characteristic spectral lines (energy≤7 keV), the way of increasing thin film sample thickness in order to increase the mass-thickness concentration of component measured, can not effectively improve the sensitivity of thin film method XRF spectrum measurement. And thin film samples thickness within 0.96 mm is conductive to the measurement and analysis of XRF spectrum. For element with higher energy characteristic spectra lines(energy＞7 keV), the sensitivity of XRF spectrum measurement can be appropriately increased by the way of increase thin film sample thickness in order to increase the mass-thickness concentration of component measured. And thin film samples thickness within 0.96～2.24 mm is more conductive to the measurement and analysis of XRF spectrum. The study provides an important theoretical basis for thin sample preparation and enrichment technology of thin film method X-ray fluorescence spectrum analysis the atmosphere and water heavy metal.

A pair of 9-arylidene-9H-fluorene and benzothiadiazole based, low-bandgap copolymers differing merely in the para or meta substitution of alkoxy groups to the arylidene linkages, i.e. p-PAFDTBT and m-PAFDTBT respectively, were comparatively investigated by using morphological characterization, ultrafast spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations. Despite the subtle difference in the alkoxy substitution patterns, p-PAFDTBT molecules in photoactive films were shown to have a higher degree of crystallinity owing to the relatively less rotational torsion of the arylidene linkages. As a result, in either neat or fullerene-blended films, p-PAFDTBT compared to m-PAFDTBT gave rise to a substantially higher charge yield and much slower charge recombination. This work demonstrates that the alkoxy substitution pattern and the arylidene linkage are highly influencing on the morphology of the photoactive layers and thereby on the photovoltaic performance of the semiconducting copolymers.

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) have been widely investigated in environmental field, for most of them are mutagenic (carcinogenic, teratogenic, mutagenic). The influence of delay time and gate width on the time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy of fluoranthene in ethanol was studied in this paper. Furthermore, laser induced time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy of fluoranthene with different concentration were also researched. According to the results, fluorescence kinetics decay curves and fluorescence lifetime of fluoranthene matched. The research results showed that there was closely relationship between the fluorescence spectrum of fluoranthene and the delay time and gate width of detector. When the delay time was fixed, the fluorescence intensity of fluoranthene grew increased as the gate width increased. When the gate width was fixed, the fluorescence intensity of fluoranthene increased first and then decreased with the delay time increases. The process of the attenuation of fluorescence intensity of fluoranthene with time delay conformed to the exponential decay process. The stepwise dilution of fluoranthene ethanol solution was also studied. With increasing dilution, the fitting of fluoranthene fluorescence lifetime increased. The results of this paper can provide a technical basis for the detection of PAHs in the environment, due to the different characteristics of the fluorescent substance having fluorescence lifetime.

The excited-state properties and chain conformations of a new low-bandgap copolymer based on benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene (BDT) and thieno[3,4-b]thiophene with meta-alkoxyphenyl-substituted side chains in solution were investigated comprehensively. Time-resolved spectroscopy suggested that the excited-state properties were sensitive to the conformations of the copolymer in solution. In addition, excited-state dynamics analyses revealed the photogeneration of triplet excited states by intersystem crossing (ISC) at a rate constant of ∼0.4×10(9)  s(-1) as a result of direct meta-alkoxyphenyl connection to the donor unit BDT irrespective to the macromolecular conformations. According to El-Sayed's rule, the fast ISC herein is correlated with the change of orbital types between singlet and triplet excited states as also shown by quantum chemical calculations. Extensive use of pesticides has a significant impact on the environment. Carbaryl, whose residues stay in the surface water, is one of the most widely used broad spectrum insecticides in agriculture. It is important to understand carbaryl spectral characteristics and detection methods. The characteristic of excitation-emission three-dimensional spectra of carbaryl is studied. By changing the concentration of methanol in methanol-water binary solvent, the impact of methanol-water mixture on three-dimensional fluorescence spectra of carbaryl is discussed. The results show that the characteristic excitation-emission spectra of carbaryl is single peak, the range of the excitation wavelength and emission wavelength are: 244~304 and 300~350 nm respectively, the maximum excitation/emission peak located at 280 and 335 nm. With increasing the content of methanol in methanol-water binary solvent mixture, there is no obviously spectra shift of three dimensional fluorescence spectra of carbaryl. However, the intensity of fluorescence is nonlinear dependent on the content of methanol, mainly due to the specific properties of binary mixed solvent.

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was used to calibrate the concentration of Cr in soils combined with Support Vector Machine. The Nd:YAG pulse laser with the wavelength of 1 064 nm was used as the excitation source. The grating spectrometer and the charge couple device were used as spectral separation device and the spectral detection device. The multiple linear regression and support vector machine were adopted to make quantitative analysis on Cr in soils respectively. The result indicate that the multiple linear regression can get more accurate informination of the spectral lines: the correlation coefficient is increased from 0.689 to 0.980 compared with conventional quantitative method. Thereofre, the the accuracy of quantitative analysis is increased. The slope about calibration curve with support vector machine of test set is nearly about 1 and the correlation coefficient is 0.998, the relative errors for the test set all are lower than 2.57%, the quantitative analysis results about support vector machine are better than the results combined with the conventional quantitative method and the multiple linear regression. The support vector machine can correct the matrix effect and improve the accuracy of prediction on the concentration of Cr in soil.

The installation of heterojunctions on the surfaces of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is an effective method for promoting the charge separation processes needed for CNT-based electronics and optoelectronics applications. Conjugated polymers are proven state-of-the-art candidates for modifying the surfaces of CNTs. However, all previous attempts to incorporate conjugated polymers to CNTs resulted in unordered interfaces. Herein we show that well-defined chains of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) were successfully grown from the surfaces of multiwalled CNTs (MWNTs) using surface-initiated Kumada catalyst-transfer polycondensation. The polymerization was found to proceed in a controlled manner as chains of tunable lengths were prepared through variation of the initial monomer-to-initiator ratio. Moreover, it was determined that large-diameter MWNTs afforded highly ordered P3HT aggregates, which exhibited a markedly bathochromically shifted optical absorption due to a high grafting density induced planarization of the polymer chains. Using ultrafast spectroscopy, the heterojunctions formed between the MWNTs and P3HT were shown to effectively overcome the binding energy of excitons, leading to photoinduced electron transfer from P3HT to MWNTs. Finally, when used as prototype devices, the individual MWNT-g-P3HT core-shell structures exhibited excellent photoresponses under a low illumination density.

The photosynthetic purple bacterium Thermochromatium (Tch.) tepidum is a thermophile that grows at an optimal temperature of ∼50 °C. We have investigated, by means of steady-state and time-resolved optical spectroscopies, the effects of temperature on the near-infrared light absorption and the excitation energy transfer (EET) dynamics of its light-harvesting complex 2 (LH2), for which the mesophilic counterpart of Rhodobacter (Rba.) sphaeroides 2.4.1 (∼30 °C) was examined in comparison. In a limited range around the physiological temperature (10-55 °C), the B800-to-B850 EET process of the Tch. tepidum LH2, but not the Rba. sphaeroides LH2, was found to be characteristically temperature-dependent, mainly because of a temperature-tunable spectral overlap. At 55 °C, the LH2 complex from Tch. tepidum maintained efficient near-infrared light harvesting and B800-to-B850 EET dynamics, whereas this EET process was disrupted in the case of Rba. sphaeroides 2.4.1 owing to the structural distortion of the LH2 complex. Our results reveal a remarkable thermal adaptability of the light-harvesting function of Tch. tepidum, which could enhance our understanding of the survival strategy of this thermophile in response to environmental challenges.

Multi-wavelength ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis) transmission spectra of bacteria combined the forward scattering and absorption properties of microbes, contains substantial information on size, shape, and the other chemical, physiological character of bacterial cells, has the bacterial species specificity, which can be applied to rapid species identification of bacterial microbes. Four different kinds of bacteria including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium and Klebsiella pneumonia which were commonly existed in water were researched in this paper. Their multi-wavelength UV-Vis transmission spectra were measured and analyzed. The rapid identification method and model of bacteria were built which were based on support vector machine (SVM) and multi-wavelength UV-Vis transmission spectra of the bacteria. Using the internal cross validation based on grid search method of the training set for obtaining the best penalty factor C and the kernel parameter g, which the model needed. Established the bacteria fast identification model according to the optimal parameters and one-against-one classification method included in LibSVM. Using different experimental bacteria strains of transmission spectra as a test set of classification accuracy verification of the model, the analysis results showed that the bacterial rapid identification model built in this paper can identification the four kinds bacterial which chosen in this paper as the accuracy was 100%, and the model also can identified different subspecies of E. coli test set as the accuracy was 100%, proved the model had a good stability in identification bacterial species. In this paper, the research results of this study not only can provide a method for rapid identification and early warning of bacterial microbial in drinking water sources, but also can be used as the microbes identified in biomedical a simple, rapid and accurate means.

The fast chlorophyll fluorescence induction curve contains rich information of photosynthesis. It can reflect various information of vegetation, such as, the survival status, the pathological condition and the physiology trends under the stress state. Through the acquisition of algae fluorescence and induced optical signal, the fast phase of chlorophyll fluorescence kinetics curve was fitted. Based on least square fitting method, we introduced adaptive minimum error approaching method for fast multivariate nonlinear regression fitting toward chlorophyll fluorescence kinetics curve. We realized Fo (fixedfluorescent), Fm (maximum fluorescence yield), σPSII (PSII functional absorption cross section) details parameters inversion and the photosynthetic parameters inversion of Chlorella pyrenoidosa. And we also studied physiological variation of Chlorella pyrenoidosa under the stress of Cu(2+).

There are many influence factors in the precision and accuracy of the quantitative analysis with LIBS technology. According to approximately the same characteristics trend of background spectrum and characteristic spectrum along with the change of temperature through in-depth analysis, signal-to-background ratio (S/B) measurement and regression analysis could compensate the spectral line intensity changes caused by system parameters such as laser power, spectral efficiency of receiving. Because the measurement dates were limited and nonlinear, we used support vector machine (SVM) for regression algorithm. The experimental results showed that the method could improve the stability and the accuracy of quantitative analysis of LIBS, and the relative standard deviation and average relative error of test set respectively were 4.7% and 9.5%. Data fitting method based on signal-to-background ratio(S/B) is Less susceptible to matrix elements and background spectrum etc, and provides data processing reference for real-time online LIBS quantitative analysis technology.

The qualitative and quantitative analysis are often interfered by the outliers in time series three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy. In this work, an efficient outlier detection method is proposed by taking advantage of the characteristics in time dimension and the spectral dimension. Firstly, the wavelength points that are mostly the outliers are extracted by the variance in time dimension. Secondly, by the analysis of the existence styles of outliers and similarity score of any two samples, the cumulative similarity is introduced in spectral dimension. At last, fluorescence intensity at each wavelength of all samples is modified by the correction matrix in time dimension and the outlier detection is completed according the to cumulative similarity scores. The application of the correction matrix in time dimension not only improves the validity of the method but also reduces the computation by the choice of characteristics region in correction matrix. Numerical experiments show that the outliers can still be detected by the 50 percent of all points in spectral dimension.

In recent years, the technology of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy has been developed rapidly. As one kind of new material composition detection technology, laser induced breakdown spectroscopy can simultaneously detect multi elements fast and simply without any complex sample preparation and realize field, in-situ material composition detection of the sample to be tested. This kind of technology is very promising in many fields. It is very important to separate, fit and extract spectral feature lines in laser induced breakdown spectroscopy, which is the cornerstone of spectral feature recognition and subsequent elements concentrations inversion research. In order to realize effective separation, fitting and extraction of spectral feature lines in laser induced breakdown spectroscopy, the original parameters for spectral lines fitting before iteration were analyzed and determined. The spectral feature line of' chromium (Cr I : 427.480 nm) in fly ash gathered from a coal-fired power station, which was overlapped with another line(FeI: 427.176 nm), was separated from the other one and extracted by using damped least squares method. Based on Gauss-Newton iteration, damped least squares method adds damping factor to step and adjust step length dynamically according to the feedback information after each iteration, in order to prevent the iteration from diverging and make sure that the iteration could converge fast. Damped least squares method helps to obtain better results of separating, fitting and extracting spectral feature lines and give more accurate intensity values of these spectral feature lines: The spectral feature lines of chromium in samples which contain different concentrations of chromium were separated and extracted. And then, the intensity values of corresponding spectral lines were given by using damped least squares method and least squares method separately. The calibration curves were plotted, which showed the relationship between spectral line intensity values and chromium concentrations in different samples. And then their respective linear correlations were compared. The experimental results showed that the linear correlation of the intensity values of spectral feature lines and the concentrations of chromium in different samples, which was obtained by damped least squares method, was better than that one obtained by least squares method. And therefore, damped least squares method was stable, reliable and suitable for separating, fitting and extracting spectral feature lines in laser induced breakdown spectroscopy.

The standard addition method with laser induced breakdown spectroscopy was used to analyze an unknown sample taken from a lead battery factory. the matrix influence on the results was effectively avoided when the external or internal standard method was used, and the pretreatment of samples was simple and quick. The Nd ' YAG pulse laser with wavelength 1 064 nm was used as the excitation source. The echelle spectroscopy with high resolution and wide spectral range was used as the spectral separation device, and the intensified charge coupled device (ICCD) as the spectral detection device in the experiment. The characteristic line at 405. 78 nrn was chosen as the analysis line to measure Pb concentration. Fe I : 404. 58 line was chosen as the internal standard. Pre-experiment was carried out to confirm the appropriate condition. Under the laser energy of 128. 5 mJ, the delay time of 2. 5 tps, and the gate width of 3 ps, it was determined that with the addition of Pb to the sample in the range of 0 and 25 000 mg . kg-1, there wasn't self-absorption. There was a good linear relationship between the intensity of the spectral line of 405. 78 nm and the addition of Pb. The appropriate concentration of Pb added into the sample for analysis was determined by this series of samples. On this basis, four samples were prepared with three parallel samples for each sample in order to verify the repeatability and reliability of the method, i. e. 5 000, 10 000, 15 000, 20 000 mg . kg-1 Pb was added into the original sample. The results were compared with the result of ICP-MS. The twelve samples' relative errors were between -24. 6% and 17. 6%. The average result was 43 069 mg . kg-1 with the relative error -2. 44%.

(1) In this paper type 316 stainless steel metal plate as the research object, the selection of sample detecting position was studied when thin film method X-ray fluorescence measurement was conducted. The study showed that the optimal location for the sample detection was sample distance X-ray tube and detector baseline 1cm with the baseline into a 16°angle. (2) Heavy metal pollutants of Pb, Cd and Cr in industrial ambient air as the main analysis object, when thin film method X-ray fluorescence conducted with lead plate protection, X-rays will penetrate the membrane and continuely stimulate the protective lead plate. Therefore there is lead spectral line interference in the filter membrane background spectrum, which will affect the detection of lead element in real samples. Studies show that when a layer of isolating material was applied between the thin sample and the protective lead plate, the interference of lead line can effectively be avoided. (3) Several rigid insulating material of type 316 stainless steel, brass, aluminum, red copper and PTEE as lead inner material were selected and studied. The study results showed that compared with X-ray fluorescence spectra of other lead inner materials, the X-ray fluorescence spectrum of red copper contained the least element spectral lines. There were not Cr, Cd and Pb spectrum peaks in the X-ray fluorescence spectrum of red copper. And the target timber scattering spectrum intensity in the high energy part was weaker compared to other X-ray fluorescence spectrum. The above analysis shows that red copper has the minimal disturbance to the actual measurement of heavy metals Cr, Cd and Pb. At the same time, red copper as lead inner materials can effectively avoid the interference of lead spectrum line in lead plate. So red copper is the best lead plate inner materials in thin film method X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy measurement. This study provides an important theoretical basis for the assembling and setting'up air and water weight metal X-ray fluorescence spectrometer.

Quercetin, a flavonoid found in onions and other vegetables, has potential inhibitory effects on bone resorption in vivo and in vitro. In our previous study it was identified that quercetin triggered the apoptosis of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‑induced osteoclasts and inhibited bone resorption. Currently, little information is available detailing the effect of quercetin on osteoblast differentiation and bone formation in bacteria‑induced inflammatory diseases. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of quercetin on osteoblast differentiation in MC3T3‑E1 osteoblasts stimulated with LPS. LPS significantly downregulated the mRNA expression of osteoblast‑related genes in the MC3T3‑E1 cells. By contrast, quercetin significantly restored the LPS‑suppressed mRNA expression of osteoblast‑related genes in a dose‑dependent manner. Quercetin also restored the protein expression of Osterix in MC3T3‑E1 cells suppressed by LPS. Furthermore, quercetin selectively triggered the activation of the mitogen‑activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway by enhancing the expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinase and reducing the expression of c‑Jun N‑terminal kinase. These data suggest that quercetin reversed the inhibition of osteoblast differentiation induced by LPS through MAPK signaling. These findings suggest that quercetin may be of potential use as a therapeutic agent to restore osteoblast function in bacteria‑induced bone diseases.

Background: The study aimed to compare the tolerability and efficacy of gefitinib combined with chemotherapy agents versus chemotherapy alone for the treatment of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated lung adenocarcinoma in heavily pretreated patients., Methods: The study was designed as a matched-pair case-control investigation to minimize intergroup heterogeneity. Patients were stratified into gefitinib plus chemotherapy and chemotherapy alone groups with matching for sex, age, ECOG performance status, progress-free survival (PFS) from previous EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor treatment, EGFR mutation types, and tumor metastasis status., Results: Sixty-six patients were selected from our database using the matched-pair method. The median age was 61 years (95% confidence interval, 57-65 years). During a follow-up period of 14.5 months on average, the overall response rates of the gefitinib-integrated and chemotherapy alone groups were 9.1% and 6.5%, respectively (P > .05), whereas the corresponding disease-control rates were 39.4% and 30.3%, respectively (P > .05). No statistically significant differences in PFS (median, 4.2 vs 3.3 months; P = .06) and overall survival (median, 10.4 vs 7.9 months; P = .44) were observed between two groups. The 6-month survival rates of the gefitinib-integrated and chemotherapy alone groups were 21.2% and 12.1%, respectively (P < .05). Side effects were mild, and all treatments were well tolerated., Conclusions: Our results indicated that gefitinib-integrated therapy offered a trend to better PFS and an improved 6-month survival rate in heavily pretreated patients with metastatic EGFR-mutated lung adenocarcinoma. The present paper firstly denoises the signal with morphological method, selecting sine-shaped structure element, using the morphological difference in waveform between the three-dimensional fluorescence and noise signal, then singular value decomposition is applied to the denoised data, and finally the chemical rank is determinated jointing eigenvalues and eigenvectors form singular value decomposition. This paper principally discusses the theory basis of morphological filtering method, firstly simulated data is analysed by morphological filtering method to confirm the necessity and effectiveness of proposed method, then the feasibility and practicability of the proposed method is verified by the determination of components number of phenols mixture three-dimensional fluorescence spectra compared with traditional Monte Carlo method. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed method is able to estimate the chemical rank correctly.

By means of field sampling and laboratory analysis, the content distribution characteristics of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn in agricultural region soils of Huaihe basin in Anhui province were analyzed. Assessment of heavy metal pollutions was conducted using enrichment factor, geoaccumulation index and potential ecological risk index. The results showed that the average mass fraction of Cd and Cu was 0.113 5 and 22.09 mg x kg(-1) respectively in the study area soil, which were above the background values 0.097 and 20.4 mg x kg(-1) in Anhui Province. The average mass fraction of other four heavy metals did not exceed the average values of Anhui Province. The results of the evaluations from geoaccumulation index and ecological risk assessment discovered that Cd is the strongest pollution metal among six heavy metals in the study area soil. For some samples of the study soil, Cd was slight risk for the ecosystem. The ecosystem risks caused by the other five heavy metals were not obviously for the sampling points. The entire study area soils were mid integrated potential ecological risk.

Chlorophyll concentration and photosynthesis activity fluorescence parameters of Chlorella pyrenoidosa stressed by different concentrations of Cd2+ were measured based on algal growth inhibition tests and photosynthetic activity inhibition tests. The relationship between the algal photosynthetic activity inhibition rate and 96 h inhibition rate of specific growth rate at different Cd2+ stress times was studied by sigmoidal curve fitting and one-way ANOVA analysis. The result shows that S function relevance exists between the algal photosynthetic activity inhibition rates for 48 h, 53 h, 72 h, 77 h and 96 h respectively and 96 h inhibition rate of specific growth rate (R2 > 0.95). Consequently, EC10 (10% effective concentration) after 48 h and 53 h inhibition in photosynthetic activity inhibition tests could be used to represented EC50 (50% effective concentration) in 96 h algal growth inhibition tests for evaluating the Cd2+ toxicity. Dose-response relationships between the algal photosynthetic activity inhibition rates after 48 h and 53 h inhibition and Cd2+ toxic equivalency quantity were further analyzed. The method provided a rapid and viable new thought to monitoring single Cd2+ toxicity in lab and early warn integrated toxicity of pollution in water.

The one of the advantages about Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is multielement detection at the same time. In order to obtain the optimum signal in the multi-element measurements of water with LIBS, the present paper firstly models the numerical relationship between the signal-to-background ratio of characteristic spectral lines and the delay time and gate width time with BP neural network, using DM design experiment data as the checking sample to ensure the generalization ability of the BP neural network model. Based on the above model, genetic algorithm is used to optimize measurement parameters and the fitness function phi is defined. When the optimum delay time and gate width time is (15.5 micros, 21.5 micros), the minimum value of psi is 0.102 4. The optimization results of genetic algorithm are further confirmed with experimental results. So the method of parameters optimization overall improves S/B of multi-element measurements in water with LBS, and provides the reference for parameter optimization of other experiments.

The present paper primarily tests and verifies the effect of NMF in blind source separation of three-dimensional simulative fluorescence spectra, and then four different computational algorithms (multiplicative iterative; alternating least square; second order method; projected gradient algorithm) were used in three practical phenolic compounds (cresol, phenol, thymol) overlapping fluorescence spectra to find out which nonnegatively constrained algorithms is the most efficient for fluorescence spectra unmixing. The experiments demonstrate that four ways have the normalized residuals below 0.06%, and alternating least square (ALS) is the best at both convergence behavior and robustness.

Solution-phase conformations and charge photogeneration dynamics of a pair of low-bandgap copolymers based on benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b(')]dithiophene (BDT) and thieno[3,4-b]thiophene (TT), differed by the respective carbonyl (-C) and ester (-E) substituents at the TT units, were comparatively investigated by using near-infrared time-resolved absorption (TA) spectroscopy at 25 °C and 120 °C. Steady-state and TA spectroscopic results corroborated by quantum chemical analyses prove that both PBDTTT-C and PBDTTT-E in chlorobenzene solutions are self-aggregated; however, the former bears a relatively higher packing order. Specifically, PBDTTT-C aggregates with more π-π stacked domains, whereas PBDTTT-E does with more random coils interacting strongly at the chain intersections. At 25 °C, the copolymers exhibit comparable exciton lifetimes (~1 ns) and fluorescence quantum yields (~2%), but distinctly different charge photogeneration dynamics: PBDTTT-C on photoexcitation gives rise to a branching ratio of charge separated (CS) over charge transfer (CT) states more than 20% higher than PBDTTT-E does, correlating with their photovoltaic performance. Temperature and excitation-wavelength dependent exciton∕charge dynamics suggest that the CT states localize at the chain intersections that are survivable up to 120 °C, and that the excitons and the CS states inhabit the stretched strands and the also thermally robust orderly stacked domains. The stable self-aggregation structures and the associated primary charge dynamics of the PBDTTT copolymers in solutions are suggested to impact intimately on the morphologies and the charge photogeneration efficiency of the solid-state photoactive layers.

According to the phytoplankton fluorescence induction characteristics under different light conditions, chlorophyll fluorescence as a probe for analysis of phytoplankton photosynthesis was studied. The present paper proposed a in-situ measurement method based on the chlorophyll fluorescence values Ft and Fm to get phytoplankton photosynthesis activity, Chlorella vulgaris, microcystis aeruginosa and Cyclotella meneghiniana Kiits were selected as experimental subjects, a comparison test was done between self-developed in-situ measurement system and Water PAM in lab, and the results showed that coefficients between the two methods were 0.9778, 0.8786 and 0.7953. This work provides a rapid and in-situ measurement method for phytoplankton photosynthesis activity.

Spectrofluorometry of chlorella pyrenoidosa was studied by three dimensional excitation-emission (3DEEM) fluorescence spectroscopy and synchronous scan fluorescence spectroscopy with Delta gamma = 20 nm in the stress of Hg+, Cd2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+. The conclusion from two kinds of Spectrofluorometry was the same: after 96h stress by heavy metals, the maximum fluorescence values reduced obviously, chlorophyll-a and chlorophyll-b in the photosynthetic system were seriously damaged by heavy metal. Further analysis of the correlations between heavy metal concentration and fluorescence quenching efficiency I0/I can conclude that the toxicity of heavy metal and the fluorescence quenching efficiency I0/I were positively correlated, and they all increased with the heavy metal concentration and stress time. For one kind of heavy metals, synchronous scan fluorometry is a sensitive method for its toxicity assessment. Compared to 3DEEM fluorescence spectroscopy, synchronous scan fluorescence spectroscopy is less time consuming and of higher selectivity. It is suitable to assess the toxicity of pollutions in water.

The analysis of multi-component three-dimensional fluorescence overlapping spectra is always very difficult. In view of the advantage of differential spectra and based on the calculation principle of two-dimensional differential spectra, the three-dimensional fluorescence spectra with both excitation and emission spectra is fully utilized. Firstly, the excitation differential spectra and emission differential spectra are respectively computed after unfolding the three-dimensional fluorescence spectra. Then the excitation differential spectra and emission differential spectra of the single component are obtained by analyzing the multicomponent differential spectra using independent component analysis. In this process, the use of cubic spline increases the data points of excitation spectra, and the roughness penalty smoothing reduces the noise of emission spectra which is beneficial for the computation of differential spectra. The similarity indices between the standard spectra and recovered spectra show that independent component analysis based on differential spectra is more suitable for the component recognition of three-dimensional fluorescence overlapping spectra.

Mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) capped CdTe quantum dots (QDs) with particle size 3 nm have been successfully synthesized in aqueous medium by hydrothermal synthesis method. And the effects of different metal ions on MPA capped CdTe QDs fluorescence were studied using fluorescence spectrometry. The results demonstrated that at the same concentration level, Ag(+) could strongly quench CdTe QDs fluorescence, and the other metal ions had little effect on CdTe QDs fluorescence except Cu(2+). On the basis of this fact, a rapid, simple, highly sensitive and selective method based on fluorescence quenching principle for Ag(+) detection in aqueous solution was proposed. Under optimal conditions, the quenched fluorescence intensity (F(0)-F) increased linearly with the concentration of Ag(+) ranging from 4 × 10(-7) to 32 × 10(-7)mol L(-1). The limit of detection for Ag(+) was 4.106 × 10(-8)mol L(-1). The obtained plot of F(0)/F versus [Ag(+)] was an upward curvature, concave towards the y-axis, rather than a straight line. The modified form of the Stern-Volmer equation was third order in Ag(+) concentration. According to the modified Stern-Volmer equation, it can be inferred that dynamic quenching and static quenching simultaneously occurred when Ag(+) interacted with MPA capped CdTe QDs. At the same time other factors might also influence the quenching process. Based on this study, hydrothermal synthesized MPA capped CdTe QDs with particle size 3 nm may be used as a novel fluorescence probe to quantificationally and selectively detect Ag(+)., (Copyright © 2012 Elsevier B.V. Ultrafast near-infrared absorption spectroscopy was used to investigate the influence of film morphology and excitation photon energy on the charge recombination (CR) dynamics in the initial nanosecond timescale in the P3HT/PC(61)BM blend films. With reference to the CS(2)-cast films, the solvent vapor annealed (SVA) ones show 2–3-fold improvement in hole mobility and more than 5-fold reduction in the polymer-localized trap states of holes. At Dt = 70 ps, the hole mobility (m(h)) and the bimolecular CR rate (γ(bi)) of the SVA films are μ(h) = 8.7 × 10(−4) cm2 × s(−1) × V(−1) and γ(bi) = 4.5 × 10(−10) cm3 × s(−1), whereas at Δt = 1 ns they drop to 8.7 × 10(−5) cm2 × s(−1) × V(−1) and 4.6 × 10(−11) cm3 × s(−1), respectively. In addition, upon increasing the hole concentration, the hole mobility increases substantially faster under the above-gap photoexcitation than it does under the band-gap photoexcitation, irrespective of the film morphologies. The results point to the importance of utilizing the photogenerated free charges in the early timescales.

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of Ping-tang Recipe (, PTR) on high-fat diet (HFD)-induced insulin resistance and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms., Methods: Forty male SD rats were included in the study. Ten rats were fed on normal diet as normal control, and thirty rats were fed on HFD for 8 weeks to induce obesity, followed with low dose (0.42 g/kg) or high dose (0.84 g/kg) of PTR or vehicle for 8 weeks with 10 animals for each group. Glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity were evaluated by oral glucose tolerance test and insulin tolerance test. Hepatic steatosis was measured by immunohistochemistry. Liver lipid metabolic genes were analyzed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, while AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) expression was examined by Western blot., Results: Rats fed on HFD developed abdominal obesity, insulin resistance and NAFLD. PTR treatment reduced visceral fat (peri-epididymal and peri-renal) accumulation, improved glucose metabolism, and attenuated hepatic steatosis. The expressions of the key lipolytic regulating genes, including peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor γ co-activator 1α (PGC-1α), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PRAR-γ) and α (PRAR-α), were up-regulated (P<0.05 or P<0.01), while the expressions of lipogenic genes such as sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1c (SREBP-1c), fatty acid synthase (FAS) and liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) were down-regulated (P<0.05 or P<0.01). In addition, PTR activated AMPK and promoted acetyl-CoA carboxylase phosphorylation in the liver., Conclusions: PTR improves insulin resistance and reverse hepatic steatosis in the rat model of HFD-induced obesity through promotion of lipolysis and reduction of lipogenesis, which involves the AMPK signaling pathway, thus representing a new therapeutic intervention for obesity related insulin resistance and NAFLD.
