Background: Comparison of 4 cannulated lag screws (3 inverted triangular cannulated screws + anti-rotating screws;4 CLS), dynamic hip screws + derotational screws (DHS + DS), and femoral neck fixation system (FNS) in the treatment of Biomechanical properties of middle-aged Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures.Methods: The femur CT data of a healthy young volunteer was selected and imported into Mimics software to construct a three-dimensional model of a normal femur. Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures were simulated according to the 70° fracture line. Use Geomagic and SolidWorks software to optimize and build CLS, DHS + DS, and FNS fracture internal fixation models. Finally, Ansys software was used to analyze the stress distribution, peak value, and maximum displacement of the proximal fracture fragment and internal fixation; the displacement distribution, and peak value of the fracture surface at the fracture end.Results: ① The stress peaks of the proximal fracture fragments in the three groups were concentrated near the femoral calcar. The peak stress of the FNS group was the largest, and the DHS + DS group was the smallest. ②The displacement of the fracture fragments was all located at the top of the femur. The peak displacement of the FNS group was the largest, and the DHS + DS group was the smallest. ③ The internal fixation stress of the three groups is concentrated in the middle part of the device. The stress distribution of the first two groups of models is more uniform than that of FNS. The peak stress of FNS is the largest and the CLS is the smallest. ④ The internal fixed displacements are all located at the top of the model. The peak displacement of the CLS is the largest, and the DHS + DS is the smallest. ⑤ The displacement of the fracture surface is in the upper part of the fractured end. The peak displacement of the FNS group was the largest, and the DHS + DS group was the smallest.Conclusion: Compared with the other two internal fixation methods, dynamic hip screw + derotational screw (DHS + DS) showed good biomechanical stability. When Pauwels type III femoral neck fracture occurs in young adults, DHS + DS can be given priority as the preferred treatment for this type of fracture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of the present work was to study the anti-hypertensive effect of allisartan on blood pressure (BP) and in facilitating left ventricular remodeling through voltage-gated potassium channels (Kv) 1.5 channels. A total of 30 SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation group, hypertension control group, and allisartan treatment group. Hypertension was induced by renal artery stenosis. The animals of treatment group were administered with allisartan once a day at a dose of 30 mg/kg body weight through an oral gavage for 4 weeks. The heart function of animals post 4 weeks of treatment was evaluated by echocardiography, and the degree of ventricular hypertrophy and cardiomyocyte hypertrophy were evaluated by histomorphology. The expression of Kv1.5 is detected by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction while Western blotting was used to detect the protein expression. Four weeks after renal artery stenosis, a significant difference was observed in the whole heart ratio, left heart ratio, and cardiomyocyte area between allisartan treatment group and the hypertension control group (P<.01). A significant decrease in BP of allisartan treatment group compared to hypertension control group (P<.01) was observed. The expression of Kv1.5 mRNA was increased significantly (P<.01) in allisartan treatment group compared to hypertension control group. Western blot analysis also confirmed the increased expression of Kv1.5 channel. The results showed that allisartan lowers BP and improves left ventricular remodeling through increased expression of Kv1.5 mRNA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Conventional methods like chromatography and spectroscopic analysis have limitations in detecting luteolin. However, electrochemical detection shows promise for reliable analysis. In this study, we compared two different morphologies of SnO 2 with the same crystal structure for luteolin detection and found that crystal morphology significantly impacts the catalytic reaction. Compared to SnO 2 quantum dots (SnO 2 QDs), mesoporous SnO 2 (m-SnO 2) exhibited a larger specific surface area, providing more active sites for oxidation and reduction reactions. Moreover, m-SnO 2 had lower impedance, effectively accelerating charge transfer at the electrode surface. Based on these excellent characteristics, m-SnO 2 /GCE modified electrode demonstrated outstanding performance in detecting luteolin, achieving a sensitivity of 8.5 μA μM-1, a low limit of 0.19 nM and a wide linear range from 0.5 nM to 1,400 nM. Besides, the m-SnO 2 /GC electrode displayed excellent consistency, reproducibility, durability, repeatability and specificity. Even three-week exposure to atmospheric conditions, the DPV signal stood at 94.1 % of its original peak current. Those enables its excellent application in practical sample detection. This research enhances our understanding of the influence of material structure and interface on catalytic luteolin detection, providing a theoretical foundation for accurate detection in complex systems. These findings should contribute to the development of more efficient, sensitive, and reliable luteolin sensors. Although Serine/Threonine Kinase 3 (STK3), also known as Mammalian STE20-like protein kinase 2 (MST2), is a highly conserved kinase of the Hippo pathway, plays a critical role in immunomodulation, organ development, cellular differentiation, and cancer suppression, its phenotype and function in ESCC require further investigation. In this study, we report for the first time on the role of STK3 kinase and its activation condition in ESCC, as well as the mechanism and mediators of kinase activation.In this study, we investigated the expression and clinical significance of STK3 in ESCC. We first used bioinformatics databases and immunohistochemistry to analyze STK3 expression in the ESCC patient cohort and conducted survival analysis. In vivo, we conducted a tumorigenicity assay using nude mouse models to demonstrate the phenotypes of STK3 kinase. In vitro, we conducted Western blot analysis, qPCR analysis, CO-IP, and immunofluorescence (IF) staining analysis to detect molecule expression, interaction, and distribution. We measured proliferation, migration, and apoptosis abilities in ESCC cells in the experimental groups using CCK-8 and transwell assays, flow cytometry, and EdU staining. We used RNA-seq to identify genes that were differentially expressed in ESCC cells with silenced STK3 or FOXO1. We demonstrated the regulatory relationship of the TP53INP1/P21 gene medicated by the STK3-FOXO1 axis using Western blotting and ChIP in vitro.We demonstrate high STK3 expression in ESCC tissue and cell lines compared to esophageal epithelium. Cellular ROS induces STK3 autophosphorylation in ESCC cells, resulting in upregulated p-STK3/4. STK3 activation inhibits ESCC cell proliferation and migration by triggering apoptosis and suppressing the cell cycle. STK3 kinase activation phosphorylates FOXO1Ser212, promoting nuclear translocation, enhancing transcriptional activity, and upregulating TP53INP1 and P21. The effect of mix-cultured aerobic denitrifying microorganisms on the water remediation has been extensively explored, but little is known about the performance of mix-cultured low efficiency fungi on denitrification. In this study, two kinds of aerobic denitrifying fungi (Trichoderma afroharzianum H1 and Aspergillus niger C1) were isolated from reservoirs, improved the capacity by mix-cultured. The results showed a difference between northern and southern reservoirs, the dominants of genera were Cystobasidium and Acremonium. The removals of total nitrogen (TN) was 12.00%, 7.53% and 69.33% in Trichoderma afroharzianum H1, Aspergillus niger C1 and mix-cultured (C1 and H1) under the denitrification medium. The contents of ATP and electron transport system activity in mix-cultured amendment were increased by 42.54% and 67.52%, 1.72 and 2.91 times, respectively. Besides, the raw water experiment indicated that TN removals were 24.05%, 12.66% and 73.42% in Trichoderma afroharzianum H1, Aspergillus niger C1 and mix-cultured. The removals of dissolved organic carbon in mix-cultured were increased 35.02% and 50.46% compared to Trichoderma afroharzianum H1 and Aspergillus niger C1. Therefore, mix-cultured of two low efficiency aerobic denitrifying fungi has been considered as a novelty perspective for mitigation of drinking water source. • Trichoderma afroharzianum H1 and Aspergillus niger C1 were isolated from reservoirs. • Mix-cultured of two fungi improved the performance of aerobic denitrifying. • Mix-cultured could remove 69% total nitrogen and 93% of dissolved organic carbon. • The ATP and electron transport system activity were increased by mix-cultured. • Mix-cultured exhibited excellent nitrogen and carbon removal ability in raw water. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explore a new eco-friendly green textile dyeing. Natural plant Buddleja officinalis is traditionally used as yellow pigment addition in rice. It is worth developing its application and dyeing performance in cotton fabric. Design/methodology/approach: Buddleja officinalis dried flower was extracted with ethanol aqueous. The extraction conditions including ethanol concentration, material to liquor ratio, extract time and temperature were optimized. Then cotton fabrics were dyed with Buddleja officinalis extraction under conventional and ultrasonic conditions. The effects of dyeing time, bath ratio, pH value of dyeing bath, dyeing temperature and mordants on K/S values were studied and the resulting color strength obtained by conventional and ultrasonic dyeing were compared. The ultraviolet (UV) transmittance of Buddleja officinalis dyed cotton fabric was also evaluated. Findings: The color strength of the fabric dyed with Buddleja officinalis under ultrasonic conditions was higher than that under conventional conditions. Alum, Fe and Cu as simultaneous mordants improved the K/S value of the dyed cotton fabrics. Both washing fastness and rubbing fastness were fairly good in all Buddleja officinalis dyed cotton fabrics, washing fastness = 3–4 and rubbing fastness = 4. What's more, the dyed cotton fabrics showed lower transmittance values as compared to undyed cotton fabrics and indicated potential UV protection capability. Practical implications: Buddleja officinalis can be a new natural dye source for the ultrasonic dyeing of cotton fabric. Originality/value: It is for the first time that Buddleja officinalis is used as a natural dye in cotton fabric dyeing with less water and the dyeing using ultrasound has been found to have an obvious improvement in the color strength and color-fastness. Buckwheat hulls, by‐products of buckwheat processing, contain various flavonoids, but the antioxidant capacity and synergy of different flavonoids are unclear. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of flavonoid monomers and high‐flavonoid component (HBHF) in buckwheat hulls using chemical‐based assays and cellular‐based assays. Four kinds of flavonoids were identified as rutin, isoorientin, vitexin, and hyperoside from buckwheat hulls. In chemical‐based assays, rutin and HBHF showed relatively high free radical scavenging activities and total antioxidant capacities. In cellular‐based assays, however, HBHF showed much higher proliferation activity against cell damage than flavonoid monomers when HepG2 cell was oxidatively damaged by H2O2 or high glucose. The cytoprotective activities of flavonoid monomers and HBHF were closely associated with reducing levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) or increasing catalase (CAT) activity. This paper introduces the concepts of conditional spacings and normalized conditional spacings when an $ (n-k+1) $ (n − k + 1) -out-of-n system or a general coherent system having independent and identically distributed (IID) components just fails at time t. First, we obtain the marginal reliability and joint reliability of conditional spacings, and then conduct some comparisons of conditional spacings. We also investigate the dependent and ISO $ ^* $ ∗ properties of the conditional spacings. Finally, the case when the lifetimes of components are IID exponential is discussed in detail. Grey wolf optimizer (GWO) is a popular algorithm in the field of meta-heuristics with fast convergence speed and strong exploitation ability for solving different types of optimization problems. However, there are two problems presented in the optimization process of GWO. Problem (1): GWO algorithm uses three leading wolves to direct the population for search, resulting in poor population diversity. Problem (2): Individuals selected in the optimization process of GWO have the current optimal fitness value, resulting in poor global search capabilities of the algorithm, and the population may tend to converge prematurely and fall into local optimum. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes the Diversity enhanced Strategy based Grey Wolf Optimizer (DSGWO), which combines two mechanisms to improve the performance of the GWO algorithm, including the group-stage competition mechanism and the exploration–exploitation balance mechanism. The experimental results are evaluated by using IEEE CEC 2014 benchmark functions and two engineering problems. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test is also conducted to measure the performance of DSGWO. The results demonstrate that the DSGWO algorithm can efficiently obtain the optimal solution of the dataset used in this paper, preserve more population diversity, and enhance the global search capability. In addition, through the application of two engineering problems, it is verified that DSGWO is suitable for solving engineering design problems. • The diversity of population and the exploration ability of classical GWO is poor. • A novel DSGWO is proposed by group-stage competition mechanism and exploration–exploitation balance mechanism. • DSGWO demonstrates its advantages in IEEE CEC 2014 and 2 engineering problems. • Experimental results are superior to some GWO variants or well-known algorithms. Explosive experiments of W–Cu–Zn, W–Cu–Ni and W–Cu alloy shaped charge liners (SCLs) were conducted, and the effects of Zn and Ni added in W–Cu alloy on the penetration performance and penetration mechanism of the SCLs were systematically investigated. Results show that Zn and Ni evidently reduce the penetration performance of the SCLs. Microscopic analyses show that the affected zones in the targets are enlarged and the melting of W particles in the jets is aggravated, which indicates the transverse dissipation of the jets energy. Thus, the decreased penetration performance of the SCLs is mainly caused by the severe transverse dissipation of the jets energy. During the penetration process, the addition of Zn in the W–Cu alloy decreases the melting point of the matrix, making the matrix easier to be melted and squeezed out. The lubrication effect of the matrix is reduced severely and the interaction between the W particles and the targets is facilitated. The addition of Ni in the W–Cu alloy increases the melting point of the matrix phase, making the matrix phase harder to be melted and the lubrication effect of the matrix decreased. The reduced lubrication effect leads to severe interaction between the jets and the targets, and the transverse dissipation of the jets energy is aggravated. Moreover, the addition of Ni in the W–Cu alloy increases the bonding strength between the W particles and the matrix, thus during the penetration process, W particles of the W–Cu–Ni jets have severer deformation compared with that of the W–Cu jets. Information of Antarctic iceberg and sea ice are valuable to Antarctic ice melting patterns studies which are helpful to understand climate conditions and general trends of our planet. This paper presents an automatic floating ice extraction method based on image segmentation technology using region growing. It effectively solves the over-segmentation and under-segmentation problems by merging the gray, contour, location and other information of each ice-object. A pixel-based extraction method is proposed to extract the small ices within 5 pixels. LANDSAT TM data, Chinese environment disaster satellite HJ1B data, and MODIS 1B data used to detect Floating ice at Antarctic continental margin respectively. The results showed that the extraction accuracies of the three kinds of data were all higher than 81 percent, while the accuracies of both TM data and HJ1B data were higher than 90%. Object-based information extraction methods can not only obtain the total area and number of floating ice objects in the whole region, but also provide precise details of single objects, including area, perimeter, contour, average brightness. Accumulating evidence has indicated the presence of mature microRNAs (miR) in the nucleus, but their effects on steatohepatitis remain elusive. We have previously demonstrated that the intranuclear miR-204-3p in macrophages protects against atherosclerosis, which shares multiple risk factors with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Herein, we aimed to explore the functional significance of miR-204-3p in steatohepatitis. miR-204-3p levels and subcellular localization were assessed in the livers and peripheral blood mononuclear cells of patients with MASLD. Wild-type mice fed high-fat or methionine- and choline-deficient diets were injected with an adeno-associated virus system containing miR-204-3p to determine the effect of miR-204-3p on steatohepatitis. Co-culture systems were applied to investigate the crosstalk between macrophages and hepatocytes or hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). Multiple high-throughput epigenomic sequencings were performed to explore miR-204-3p targets. miR-204-3p expression decreased in livers and macrophages in mice and patients with fatty liver. In patients with MASLD, miR-204-3p levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells were inversely related to the severity of hepatic inflammation and damage. Macrophage-specific miR-204-3p overexpression reduced steatohepatitis in high-fat or methionine- and choline-deficient diet-fed mice. miR-204-3p-overexpressing macrophages inhibited TLR4/JNK signaling and pro-inflammatory cytokine release, thereby limiting fat deposition and inflammation in hepatocytes and fibrogenic activation in HSCs. Epigenomic profiling identified miR-204-3p as a specific regulator of ULK1 expression. ULK1 transcription and VPS34 complex activation by intranuclear miR-204-3p improved autophagic flux, promoting the anti-inflammatory effects of miR-204-3p in macrophages. miR-204-3p inhibits macrophage inflammation, coordinating macrophage actions on hepatocytes and HSCs to ameliorate steatohepatitis. Macrophage miR-204-3p may be a therapeutic target for MASLD. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a chronic inflammatory disease ranging from simple steatosis to steatohepatitis. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the progression of MASLD remain incompletely understood. Here, we demonstrate that miR-204-3p levels in circulating peripheral blood mononuclear cells are negatively correlated with disease severity in patients with MASLD. Nuclear miR-204-3p activates ULK1 transcription and improves autophagic flux, limiting macrophage activation and hepatic steatosis. As a result, the electrode demonstrates exceptional luteolin detection capabilities, including a wide linear range (0.1–1200 nM), high sensitivity (12.4 μA μM−1), and an ultra-low limit of detection (0.14 nM). Crizotinib is a multi-target receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor which is of great importance for the management of ALK-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Serious erythroderma and toxic epidermal necrolysis have been reported associated with crizotinib treatment. The underlying mechanisms have not been examined. In this study, we tested the toxicity of crizotinib on immortal human keratinocytes (HaCaT) and human primary keratinocytes. We found that crizotinib directly cause cytotoxic on these two cells, which could be the explanation of the clinical characteristic of pathology. Apoptosis was observed and Z-VAD-FMK, a pan-caspase inhibitor can almost totally reverse the apoptosis induction effect of crizotinib. However, mitochondrial dysfunction and DNA damage were not involved in crizotinib-induced apoptosis, indicating the intrinsic apoptosis pathway have no connection with this cutaneous toxicity. Further studies showed that crizotinib significantly increased cleaved-caspase-8, a signaling protein of extrinsic apoptosis pathway, in a concentration and time-dependent manner. Moreover, we found the targets of crizotinib were not involved in HaCaT cells apoptosis. Collectively, our findings first report keratinocytes apoptosis is the key cause of crizotinib-induced cutaneous toxicity. We also reveal crizotinib induce apoptosis through the extrinsic apoptosis pathway due to detected up-regulated cleaved-caspase-8. Buddlejae Flos is a promising natural dye for cotton fabric. Buddlejae Flos extraction and AlK(SO4)2.12H2O were dissolved in 70% ethanol and the cotton fabric was dyed with this solution. And its dyeing kinetics and isotherm were evaluated. The results showed that dye absorption increased with the increase in dye concentration and dyeing temperature. The absorption kinetics of Buddlejae Flos dye onto cotton fabric were best described by the pseudo-second-order kinetics model (R2 > 0.99) and absorption isotherm fitted the Freundlich model better. Optimal dyeing conditions were selected through orthogonal trial: 1:30 bath ratio, 80°C dyeing temperature, 100 min dyeing time, and 1.25 g/L mordant. The Buddlejae Flos dyed cotton fabric presented good antioxidant performance. The wash fastness and rubbing fastness of the dyed cotton fabric are both above 4 grades. It is concluded that Buddlejae Flos has a good potential to act as a source of natural colorant for cotton dyeing in the ethanol-water system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tree-Seed Algorithm (TSA) is a meta-heuristic optimization algorithm with good performance in solving continuous optimization problems. However, there is an imbalance between its exploration and exploitation when solving complex problems, mainly lack exploration. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes two tree migration mechanisms: triple-learning-based migration mechanism and sine-random-distribution migration mechanism. The target tree position is migrated by learning from the first three trees in the current iteration. The sine function is added to the tree migration formula to enhance the randomness of tree distribution. In order to verify these migration mechanisms, Triple Tree-Seed Algorithm (TriTSA) has been proposed and compared with TSA on 30 well-known test functions from IEEE CEC 2014. In addition, STSA, SCA, PSO, ABC, Jaya, and TLBO are adopted in some comparative experiments on different dimensions. The experiments show that the tree migration mechanism can improve the optimization capability of the original algorithm effectively. On all 30 benchmark test functions, TriTSA outperforms TSA on 10, 30, 50, and 100 dimensions by 70%, 90%, 90%, and 97% respectively. Finally, the proposed TriTSA is compared with TSA, ABC, PSO, and SCA on solving two classical engineering design problems. • Cow dung-derived biochars were engineered to be antibacterial agents. • N -Halamine coating and chlorine loading on biochars were regulated on demand. • The engineered biochars were potent against pathogens. • Filter column packed with biochars removed bacteria from wastewater. Disposal of the pollutants arising from farming cattle and other livestock threatens the environment and public safety in diverse ways. Herein, we report on the synthesis of engineered biochars using cow dung as raw material, and investigating these biochars as antibacterial agents for water decontamination. By coating the biochars with N -halamine polymer and loading them with active chlorine (i.e., Cl+), we were able to regulate them on demand by tuning the polymer coating and bleaching conditions. The obtained N -halamine-modified biochars were found to be extremely potent against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. We also investigated the possibility of using these N -halamine-modified biochars for bacterial decontamination in real-world applications. Our findings indicated that a homemade filter column packed with N -halamine-modified biochars removed pathogenic bacteria from mining sewage, dairy sewage, domestic sewage, and artificial seawater. The electrochemical behavior of luteolin on SnO 2 QDs/GCE indicates that the redox process involves participating of two-electrons/double-protons. The big specific surface area of SnO 2 QDs provides sufficient active sites for the redox reaction of luteolin. On this bases, an ultra-low LOD of 0.25 nM as well as a large linear range of 0.1–1200 nM is obtained for detection of luteolin. Besides, the influence of several coexisting compounds and common ions on the detection of luteolin was evaluated, and no obvious interference was found. Abstract Renal fibrosis is the common final outcome of nearly all progressive chronic kidney diseases (CKD) that eventually develop into end-stage renal failure, which threatens the lives of patients. Currently, there are no effective drugs for the treatment of renal fibrosis. However, studies have shown that certain plant natural products have a fibrosis-alleviating effect. Thus, we have screened a large number of natural products for their ability to protect against renal fibrosis and found that bisdemethoxycurcumin has a good therapeutic effect in renal fibrosis according to the data obtained in a mouse model of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). The results indicate that bisdemethoxycurcumin can efficiently attenuate renal fibrosis induced by UUO. Additional studies of the bisdemethoxycurcumin mechanism of action in the treatment of renal fibrosis demonstrated that the therapeutic effect of bisdemethoxycurcumin is mediated by the specific induction of fibroblast apoptosis at a concentration of 20 μM. bisdemethoxycurcumin can efficiently protect against renal fibrosis both in vitro and in vivo. In order to investigate the interaction between shaped charge jet and target, three different targets, including pure copper target, carbon steel target and Ti-6Al-4V alloy target, were penetrated by W-Cu shaped charge jet. Penetration performance and corresponding penetration mechanisms were studied. Calculated theoretical penetration depth ratio of Ti-6Al-4V alloy target, pure Cu target and carbon steel target is 10:2.8:5.7, while the practical penetration depth ratio is 10:28:21, indicating that the interaction between jet and target has a significant effect on the penetration depth. Microstructural analysis shows that the interaction between jet and Cu target is the lightest among the three kinds of targets, leading to an increased penetration depth of Cu target. The interaction between jet and Ti-6Al-4V alloy target is the severest, resulting in an increased transverse energy dissipation of jet and decreased penetration depth of Ti-6Al-4V alloy target. Given the significant interaction between jet and target, we propose a modified equation of penetration depth by adding an empirical parameter, which provides a platform to predict more accurate penetration depth. Real-world image denoising is a practical image restoration problem that aims to obtain clean images from in-the-wild noisy inputs. Recently, the Vision Transformer (ViT) has exhibited a strong ability to capture long-range dependencies, and many researchers have attempted to apply the ViT to image denoising tasks. However, a real-world image is an isolated frame that makes the ViT build long-range dependencies based on the internal patches, which divides images into patches, disarranges noise patterns and damages gradient continuity. In this article, we propose to resolve this issue by using a continuous Wavelet Sliding-Transformer that builds frequency correspondences under real-world scenes, called DnSwin. Specifically, we first extract the bottom features from noisy input images by using a convolutional neural network (CNN) encoder. The key to DnSwin is to extract high-frequency and low-frequency information from the observed features and build frequency dependencies. To this end, we propose a Wavelet Sliding-Window Transformer (WSWT) that utilizes the discrete wavelet transform (DWT), self-attention and the inverse DWT (IDWT) to extract deep features. Finally, we reconstruct the deep features into denoised images using a CNN decoder. Both quantitative and qualitative evaluations conducted on real-world denoising benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed DnSwin performs favorably against the state-of-the-art methods. Two kinds of 65W–25Cu–10Ni alloys were prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS) and liquid phase sintering (LPS) respectively. The effect of preparation methods on microstructure and dynamic compressive properties of the two alloys were investigated. The LPS-65W–25Cu–10Ni alloy has a larger tungsten grain size and better homogenization than SPS-65W–25Cu–10Ni alloy. Under dynamic compressive loading, the dynamic yield strength of SPS-65W–25Cu–10Ni alloy is 200 MPa higher than that of LPS-65W–25Cu–10Ni alloy. The failure strain of SPS-65W–25Cu–10Ni alloy is 0.58. While the specimen of LPS-65W–25Cu–10Ni alloy maintains integral even the strain reaches 0.62. The difference in dynamic property of the two alloys is attributed to the different preparation methods. Shorter sintering time of SPS impedes the growth of tungsten particle size in the alloy, which mainly accounts for the increase of yield strength. While the sintering condition of LPS process is beneficial for the homogenization of the matrix and the growth of tungsten particles, which results a better metallurgical bonding and deformation compatibility. The failure mechanism of SPS-65W–25Cu–10Ni alloy is also revealed. Under dynamic loading condition, the tearing of the matrix and cleavage of tungsten particles are main failure mechanisms of SPS-65W–25Cu–10Ni alloy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Near-saturated relative humidity storage alleviated chilling injury in zucchini. • NSH storage maintained lower activities of lipoxygenase and phospholipase D. • NSH-fruit manifested higher membrane lipid unsaturation during cold storage. • Chilling tolerance in NSH-fruit was related to a higher level of energy status. To investigate the effect of relative humidity (RH) on chilling injury (CI), zucchini fruit were stored in cold rooms (4 ± 0.4 ℃) with different RHs (near-saturated RH [NSH] with 96–100% and normal RH with 72–76% served as control). Storage in NSH delayed weight loss and CI, maintained firmness and skin color. Higher antioxidant enzyme activities and greater scavenging capacities of free radicals were found in NSH-fruit than in the control fruit. The decrease of the unsaturated fatty acids was delayed in NSH-fruit due to lower activities of related membrane lipid degrading enzymes as compared to the control fruit. NSH-fruit also maintained higher activities of energy metabolism-associated enzymes than control fruit, leading to high levels of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Taken together, we attributed the alleviation of CI by NSH storage to its enhancement of antioxidant capacities and its effect on maintaining higher energy status in zucchini fruit. Age-related cognitive decline is one of the major aspects that impede successful aging in humans. Repeated abortion in adulthood can accelerate or aggravate cognitive deficiency during aging. Here we used repeated abortion in female mice adulthood and investigated the consequences of this treatment on cognitive performance during aging. We observed a substantial impairment of learning memory in 15 months old. This cognitive dysfunction was supported by Aβ elevation in CA region. Repeated abortion mice have uniform estrous cycles and decreased ERα expression in hypothalamus and hippocampus. Furthermore, repeated abortion not only significantly increased the HMGB1 expression in hippocampus but also increased the plasma and hippocampal protein levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. Finally, we identified that MPP-induced cell apoptosis and increased HMGB1 expression as well as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α expression as following Aβ elevation. Taken together, our results identify possible molecular mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment during aging, and demonstrated the repeated abortion in adulthood on cognitive function in aged mice. Background:First-line postoperative adjuvant chemotherapies with S-1 and capecitabine and oxaliplatin (XELOX) were first recommended for resectable gastric cancer patients in the 2010 and 2011 Chinese NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology: Gastric Cancer; however, their economic impact in China is unknown. Objective:The aim of this study was to compare the cost-effectiveness of adjuvant chemotherapy with XELOX, with S-1 and no treatment after a gastrectomy with extended (D2) lymph-node dissection among patients with stage II-IIIB gastric cancer. Methods:A Markov model, based on data from two clinical phase III trials, was developed to analyse the cost-effectiveness of patients in the XELOX group, S-1 group and surgery only (SO) group. The costs were estimated from the perspective of Chinese healthcare system. The utilities were assumed on the basis of previously published reports. Costs, quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) and incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICER) were calculated with a lifetime horizon. One-way and probabilistic sensitivity analyses were performed. Results:For the base case, XELOX had the lowest total cost ($44,568) and cost-effectiveness ratio ($7,360/QALY). The relative scenario analyses showed that SO was dominated by XELOX and the ICERs of S-1 was $58,843/QALY compared with XELOX. The one-way sensitivity analysis showed that the most influential parameter was the utility of disease-free survival. The probabilistic sensitivity analysis predicted a 75.8% likelihood that the ICER for XELOX would be less than $13,527 compared with S-1. When ICER was more than $38,000, the likelihood of cost-effectiveness achieved by S-1 group was greater than 50%. Conclusions:Our results suggest that for patients in China with resectable disease, first-line adjuvant chemotherapy with XELOX after a D2 gastrectomy is a best option comparing with S-1 and SO in view of our current study.
