19. Performance Improvement for Superconducting Linear Synchronous Motor With General Racetrack Coils

Abstract

A novel structure for the air-cored superconducting linear synchronous motor (SLSM) with general racetrack coils is proposed in this work. The elliptical edge with variable shape is designed to decouple the geometric parameters of the coil and to optimize the electromagnetic thrust of SLSM for minimizing the force ripple while ensuring sufficient thrust output. A 3D analytical model is established to investigate the electromagnetic characteristics of the proposed SLSM. The Biot-Savart Law and the virtual displacement method is introduced in this model to predict the no-load magnetic field, thrust and back electromotive force (EMF) of the SLSM. The accuracy of the proposed model was verified through finite element method (FEM) and experiment. The SLSM of the Yamanashi test line is introduced in this work as a case study. The on-board superconducting and armature coils were optimized based on the novel structure. Comparison between the SLSMs with the proposed and initial coils were carried out and the results demonstrate the superiority of the novel structure in terms of thrust output. Additionally, the proposed SLSM is promised to reduce the material consumption and thus the cost of the electrodynamic suspension system.

Abstract

A new analytical framework for the surface-mounted permanent magnet axial flux eddy current coupler is established and the characteristic analysis is carried out. By combining three-dimensional magnetic equivalent circuit approaches,Faraday’s law and Ampere’s law,a electromagnetic analysis model of the axial-flux eddy current coupler is established. In addition to account for the three dimensional parameters,the proposed analytical approach can effectively deal with the complex geometric shape of the model. The discussions of the influence of the material and the thickness of the conductor layer on the applicability of the multi-layer analytical model,the influence of the number of layer are carried out based on the analytical model. The results of three-dimensional finite-element simulation show that the established multi-layer analytical model is precise within a certain range.

Abstract

As one of the most popular short video platform, Douyin has accumulated more than half of the Chinese netizens as its daily active users. Many users spend plenty of time viewing Douyin short videos, which make Douyin addiction become a widespread phenomenon. In this paper, the author analyzes algorithm principles used in Douyin. Combining both perspectives of mass media communication and algorithm technology to explain how it effects Douyin addiction. For one thing, the recommendation algorithm caters users by fully meeting their needs. Using the hierarchical interest label tree, the user persona and the partitioned data buckets strategy to recommend more accurate and personalized contents. For another, the algorithm uses the collaborative filtering algorithm and low-cost interaction design mechanism to make traps for users. The author also finds that there is a closed-loop relationship between Douyin addiction and algorithm optimization. The algorithm principles positively effects users’ continuance intention. Meanwhile, the more frequent the user uses Douyin, the more accurate the algorithm will be. If not intervened, the addiction may be severely exacerbated. So, the author comes up with a few suggestions for Douyin developers and users, trying to break the closed-loop.

33. Antimicrobial resistance and virulence traits of Enterococcus faecium isolated from clinical bovine mastitis in Ningxia, China

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the antimicrobial resistance and virulence traits of 32 Enterococcus faecium isolates from clinical bovine mastitis cases in Ningxia Province, China. In total, 32 E. faecium isolates were taken from subclinical bovine mastitis on the basis of morphological characterization and biochemical testing, and screened for antimicrobial susceptibility. The virulence genes of the isolates were studied using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The disc diffusion assay revealed a high occurrence of resistance against tetracycline (78.1%) and erythromycin (68.8%) in the E. faecium isolates. However, all tested E. faecium were susceptible to linezolid and vancomycin. Moreover, all E. faecium isolates harbored the erythromycin-resistant genes ermA, ermB and ermC, as well as the tetracycline-resistant genes tetK, tetL and tetM. Furthermore, all E. faecium isolates carried more than 3 of the tested virulence genes. The presence of agg (100%), cpd (100%), efaA (100%), gelE (93.4%), and esp (75.0%) was found most frequently in all the tested isolates. These findings are useful for making appropriate antimicrobial choices and developing antivirulence therapies for subclinical bovine mastitis caused by E. faecium in Ningxia Province, China., Istraživanje je provedeno kako bi se odredila antimikrobina rezistencija i svojstva virulencije izolata bakterije Enterococcus faecium uzetih u goveda s kliničkim mastitisom. U ukupno 32 izolata goveda iz pokrajine Ningxia u Kini, procijenjena je antimikrobna osjetljivost na temelju morfološke karakterizacije i biokemijskih pretraga. Geni virulencije izolata istraženi su polimeraznom lančanom reakcijom (PCR). Disk-difuzijski test je u izolatu bakterije E. faecium pokazao visoku pojavnost rezistencije na tetraciklin (78,1 %) i eritromicin (68,8 %). Svi su pretraženi izolati bili osjetljivi na linezolid i vankomicin i imali gene rezisentne na eritromicin ermA, ermB i ermC, kao i na tetraciklin, tetK, tetL i tetM. Osim toga svi izolati E. faecium nosili su više od tri istraživana gena virulencije. Najčešći geni bili agg (100 %), cpd (100 %), efaA (100 %), gelE (93,4 %) i esp (75,0 %). Ovi rezultati mogu u pokrajini Ningxia u Kini pridonijeti pravilnom izboru antimikrobnog lijeka i razvoju uspješne terapije za supklinički goveđi mastitis uzrokovan bakterijom E. faecium.

Abstract

The complex etiology and pathogenesis of retained placenta (RP) bring huge challenges for researchers and clinical veterinarians in investigating the pathogenesis and treatment schedule. This study aims to investigate the pathogenesis of RP in dairy cows by plasma metabolomics. As subjects, 10 dairy cows with RP and 10 healthy dairy cows were enrolled according to strict enrollment criteria. Imbalanced antioxidant capacity, reduced Th1/Th2 cytokine ratio, and deregulation of total bilirubin (T-bil), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and reproductive hormones were shown in dairy cows with RP by detecting biochemical indicators, oxidation and antioxidant markers, and cytokines in serum. Plasma metabolites were detected and analyzed by a liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) system coupled with multivariate statistical analysis software. A total of 23 potential biomarkers were uncovered in the plasma of dairy cows with RP. The metabolic pathways involved in these potential biomarkers are interconnected, and the conversion, utilization, and excretion of nitrogen were disturbed in dairy cows with RP. Moreover, these potential biomarkers are involved in the regulation of antioxidant capacity, inflammation, and autocrine or paracrine hormone. All of these findings suggest that an imbalance of these potential biomarkers might be responsible for the imbalanced antioxidant capacity, reduced Th1/Th2 cytokine ratio, and deregulation of reproductive hormones in dairy cows with RP. The regulation of metabolic pathways involved in these potential biomarkers represents a promising therapeutic strategy for RP.
