2. Cross-Resolution Land Cover Classification Using Outdated Products and Transformers

Abstract

Large-scale high-resolution land cover classification is a prerequisite for constructing Earth system models and addressing ecological and resource issues. Advancements in satellite sensor technology have led to an improvement in spatial resolution and wider coverage areas. Nevertheless, the lack of high-resolution labeled data is still a challenge, hindering the largescale application of land cover classification methods. In this paper, we propose a Transformerbased weakly supervised method for cross-resolution land cover classification using outdated data. First, to capture long-range dependencies without missing the fine-grained details of objects, we propose a U-Net-like Transformer based on a reverse difference mechanism (RDM) using dynamic sparse attention. Second, we propose an anti-noise loss calculation (ANLC) module based on optimal transport (OT). Anti-noise loss calculation identifies confident areas (CA) and vague areas (VA) based on the OT matrix, which relieves the impact of noises in outdated land cover products. By introducing a weakly supervised loss with weights and employing unsupervised loss, the RDM-based U-Net-like Transformer was trained. Remote sensing images with 1 m resolution and the corresponding ground-truths of six states in the United States were employed to validate the performance of the proposed method. The experiments utilized outdated land cover products with 30 m resolution from 2013 as training labels, and produced land cover maps with 1 m resolution from 2017. The results show the superiority of the proposed method compared to state-of-the-art methods. The code is available at https://github.com/yu-ni1989/ANLC-Former.

3. Influences of Building Slope Angle on the Initiation of Stable Upward Leader

Abstract

The slope angle (or top angle) of the building significantly influences the formation of upward leader. To simulate the lightning strike process on tall and sloping building using three-dimensional variable grid leader model, the influence of slope angle (θ) on the initiation of stable upward leaders is analyzed, focusing on various building heights (Hb) and peak values of lightning current (Ip). It can be concluded from data that, when the peak lightning current is held constant, reducing the building height and increasing the building width result in an enhanced influence of the slope angle on stable upward leader inception (η), which in turn makes it increasingly challenging to incept. When the height of building is held constant, a reduction in the peak value of lightning current enhances the influence of slope angle on the inception of stable upward leaders (η). This, in turn, makes the inception process increasingly challenging. Changes in building width have a lesser impact on the initiation of the upward leader compared to building height. As heights of buildings and peak values of lightning currents increase, the influence of slope angle on the initiation of stable upward leader becomes less significant. By conducting a multiple linear regression analysis with η as the dependent variable and slope angle (θ), building height (Hb), and peak lightning current (Ip) as independent variables. Results indicate that Ip and Hb have a significant negative effect on η, whereas θ has a positive effect on η. The degree of influence on η is as follows: Ip has the greatest influence, followed by θ, while Hb has the least influence. The influence of slope angle on the inception of stable upward leaders, represented by the parameter η, is significant for building heights below 100 m and peak lightning current values below 40 kA, with the estimated effect exceeding 23.32%. In contrast, for building heights exceeding 500 m and peak values of lightning current above 100 kA, the impact of slope angle on stable upward leader inception is relatively minimal, with an estimated effect of less than 15.88%, in the case, the distinction between the impact of sloped buildings and rectangular buildings on the inception of stable upward leader is sufficiently marginal to enable an approximate analytical approach.

Abstract

Integrating femtosecond (fs) lasers to electron microscopies has enabled direct imaging of transient structures and morphologies of materials in real time and space, namely, ultrafast electron microscopy (UEM). Here we report the development of a laser-free UEM offering the same capability of real-time imaging with high spatiotemporal resolutions but without requiring expensive fs lasers and intricate instrumental modifications. We create picosecond electron pulses for probing dynamic events by chopping a continuous beam with a radiofrequency (RF)-driven pulser, where the repetition rate of the electron pulses is tunable from 100 MHz to 12 GHz. A same broadband of electromagnetic wave is enabled for sample excitation. As a first application, we studied the GHz electromagnetic wave propagation dynamics in an interdigitated comb structure which is one of the basic building blocks for RF micro-electromechanical systems. A series of pump-probe images reveals, on nanometer space and picosecond time scales, the transient oscillating electromagnetic field around the tines of the combs, and time-resolved polarization, amplitude, and nonlinear local field enhancement. The success of this study demonstrates the feasibility of the low-cost laser-free UEM in real-space visualizing of dynamics for many research fields, especially the electrodynamics in devices associated with information processing technology., Comment: 25 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

Differential and angle-integrated cross sections for the $^{10}$B($n, {\alpha}$)$^{7}$Li, $^{10}$B($n, {\alpha}$$_{0}$)$^{7}$Li and $^{10}$B($n, {\alpha}$$_{1}$)$^{7}$Li$^{*}$ reactions have been measured at CSNS Back-n white neutron source. Two enriched (90%) $^{10}$B samples 5.0 cm in diameter and ~85.0 ${\mu}$g/cm$^{2}$ in thickness each with an aluminum backing were prepared, and back-to-back mounted at the sample holder. The charged particles were detected using the silicon-detector array of the Light-charged Particle Detector Array (LPDA) system. The neutron energy E$_{n}$ was determined by TOF (time-of-flight) method, and the valid ${\alpha}$ events were extracted from the E$_{n}$-Amplitude two-dimensional spectrum. With 15 silicon detectors, the differential cross sections of ${\alpha}$-particles were measured from 19.2{\deg} to 160.8{\deg}. Fitted with the Legendre polynomial series, the ($n, {\alpha}$) cross sections were obtained through integration. The absolute cross sections were normalized using the standard cross sections of the $^{10}$B($n, {\alpha}$)$^{7}$Li reaction in the 0.3 - 0.5 MeV neutron energy region. The measurement neutron energy range for the $^{10}$B($n, {\alpha}$)$^{7}$Li reaction is 1.0 eV $\le$ En < 2.5 MeV (67 energy points), and for the $^{10}$B($n, {\alpha}$$_{0}$)$^{7}$Li and $^{10}$B($n, {\alpha}$$_{1}$)$^{7}$Li$^{*}$ reactions is 1.0 eV $\le$ En < 1.0 MeV (59 energy points). Abstract

The main circuit and related principles of inverter are briefly described in this paper, and then the IGBT driver and its fault protection circuit are designed in detail based on ACPL-332J chip. It is connected with 5SNA0800J450300 IGBT of ABB and applied in 3 300 V mine frequency converter. The results show that the drive circuit has high reliability and adaptability, and can be widely used in medium voltage and high power transmission.

26. A Room-Level Indoor Localization Using an Energy-Harvesting BLE Tag.

Abstract

Energy-efficient and cost-effective localization systems are attractive for large-scale tracking and localization of goods. In this paper, we propose a room-level localization system using energy-harvesting BLE tags to track the targets. We introduce the Dempster–Shafer (D–S) evidence theory combined with fingerprinting technology for location estimation. To reduce the estimation complexity, we divide the indoor environment into clear areas and fuzzy areas. The D–S algorithm is employed to locate the target in the clear areas when the targets are only detected by the anchor nodes within a single room. Conversely, fuzzy areas are characterized by RSSI signals detected by anchor nodes across multiple rooms. Then, the system integrates fingerprint matching to ensure superior positioning accuracy across the deployment. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed system maintains a room-level positioning accuracy above 99% under standard test conditions within an area of approximately 2000 m2 with lots of rooms. Abstract

BackgroundThe Energy Resolved Neutron Imaging Spectrometer (ERNI) of China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is in process of building, whose diffraction detector with ninety degree partition adopts 6LiF/ZnS neutron scintillator detector with a 90° partition as its detection equipment.PurposeThis study aims to develop the readout electronics for high position resolution neutron scintillator detector of ERNI.MethodsFirstly, a capacitive network combined with center-of-gravity of the induced charge distribution was adopted for the design of readout electronics. Then, a prototype of the readout electronics system consisted of three parts: capacitive network circuit, preamplifier board and digital readout board, was developed. After functional verification, the relevant performance parameters of the developed prototype were experimentally tested in the laboratory and in the No.20 beam line of CSNS.ResultsThe experimental results show that the integration nonlinearity of electronics is better than 0.95%, the time resolution is about 12 ns, the position resolution is 1mm, and the detection efficiency is 65%@1.6 Å.ConclusionsThe prototype meets the design specifications of the project. The successful development of the prototype provides a reliable technical support for the smooth development of the spectrometer experiment in ERNI of CSNS in the future.

34. Cu-Doped CsPb2Br5 Nanocrystals for Soft Crystal Lattice-Induced Self-Trapped Excitonic Emission: Implications for Solid-State Lighting.

Abstract

Low-dimensional metal halides are favored for optoelectronic device applications due to their strong electron–phonon coupling capability, which produces exciton self-trapping and broadband emission optoelectronic properties. Conventional methods for enhancing electron–phonon coupling involve the introduction of permanent defects or lattice distortions that inhibit the intrinsic structure and properties. In this work, we report that Cu-doped CsPb2Br5 nanocrystals exhibit broadband red emission with a high Stokes shift, a long fluorescence lifetime (9.27 μs), and a high photoluminescence quantum yield (∼ 36%) in the visible to near-infrared spectral range (∼550 to 825 nm). At the same time, the fact that the emission spectrum is independent of the excitation wavelength and the excitation spectrum is independent of the emission wavelength, together with the similarity of the decay kinetics, suggests that the broad-band emission has intrinsic properties. The soft vibrational modes of Raman spectroscopy indicate the softness of the lattice and the highly anharmonic character of the structure on the global and local scales. These properties lead to short-range elastic lattice deformation of Cu/CsPb2Br5 nanocrystals upon photoexcitation by strong electron–phonon coupling, resulting in self-trapped exciton emission. This method of doping-induced local distortion and exciton self-capture provides a way to improve the properties of the optoelectronic materials. Meanwhile, the fluorescence change in the crystal structure from CsPbBr3 to CsPb2Br5 can also be used for anticounterfeiting inks. Therefore, CsPb2Br5 crystals have promising applications in solid-state lighting and optoelectronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A low loss (LL) type 500 MHz 5-cell superconducting niobium prototype cavity with large beam aperture has been developed successfully including the optimization, the deep drawing and electron beam welding, the surface treatment and the vertical testing. The performance of the fundamental mode was optimized and the higher order modes were damped by adopting an enlarged beam pipe for propagation. Surface preparation or treatment including mechanical polishing, buffered chemical polishing and high pressure rinsing with ultra-pure water and so on was carried out carefully to promise a perfect inner surface condition. The vertical testing results show that the accelerating voltage higher than 7.5 MV was obtained while the quality factor was better than 1E9 at 4.2 K. No obvious multipacting or field emission was found during the test. However, a quench happened while increasing the field a little higher than 7.5 MV that at present limited the cavity performance., Comment: 5 pages, 7 figures

Abstract

This paper illustrates the design, fabrication and experiment results of surface preparation system for 500MHz superconducting cavity at Shanghai Institute of Applied Physic (SINAP). The SINAP established a set of clean room, buffered chemical polishing equipment, and high pressure ultra-pure water rinsing facility. The whole surface preparation procedure has been operated successfully and verified by the successful vertical tests of 500MHz single cell superconducting cavity.
