Cancer is now the second leading cause of death after cardiovascular diseases. Although there are many different cancer treatments available, all of them have serious side effects and drug resistance. Therefore, scientists are searching for natural products that can effectively prevent the occurrence of cancers. Studies have shown that the consumption of citrus fruits can reduce the risk of several diseases, including cancers, and its anti-cancer effects are attributed to a variety of bioactive ingredients. This article systematically summarizes recent progress in research on the major anti-cancer ingredients in citrus fruits and their molecular mechanisms. Citrus is one of the important fruits with high medicinal value. In-depth studies on its anti-cancer effects and molecular mechanisms will help to enhance its industrial value, and provide a theoretical basis for the processing and development of citrus fruits into functional foods for chemical prevention of cancers. As the anti-cancer constituents and mechanisms of citrus fruits have been understood fully, their application as a natural source of anti-cancer agents in clinical cancer treatments can be expected soon.

Small muscular pulmonary artery remodeling is a dominant feature of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). PSEN1 affects angiogenesis, cancer, and Alzheimer's disease. We aimed to determine the role of PSEN1 in the pathogenesis of vascular remodeling in pulmonary hypertension (PH). Hemodynamics and vascular remodeling in the Psen1-knockin and smooth muscle–specific Psen1-knockout mice were assessed. The functional partners of PSEN1 were predicted by bioinformatics analysis and biochemical experiments. The therapeutic effect of PH was evaluated by administration of the PSEN1-specific inhibitor ELN318463. We discovered that both the mRNA and protein levels of PSEN1 were increased over time in hypoxic rats, monocrotaline rats, and Su5416/hypoxia mice. Psen1 transgenic mice were highly susceptible to PH, whereas smooth muscle–specific Psen1-knockout mice were resistant to hypoxic PH. STRING analysis showed that Notch1/2/3, β-catenin, Cadherin-1, DNER (delta/notch-like epidermal growth factor-related receptor), TMP10, and ERBB4 appeared to be highly correlated with PSEN1. Immunoprecipitation confirmed that PSEN1 interacts with β-catenin and DNER, and these interactions were suppressed by the catalytic PSEN1 mutations D257A, D385A, and C410Y. PSEN1 was found to mediate the nuclear translocation of the Notch1 intracellular domains and activated RBP-Jκ. Octaarginine-coated liposome-mediated pharmacological inhibition of PSEN1 significantly prevented and reversed the pathological process in hypoxic and monocrotaline-induced PH. PSEN1 essentially drives the pathogenesis of PAH and interacted with the noncanonical Notch ligand DNER. PSEN1 can be used as a promising molecular target for treating PAH. This study addresses the critical issue of traffic safety in winter, particularly focusing on the challenges posed by ice and snow on roads. Traditional methods of snow and ice removal are often labor-intensive, inefficient, and environmentally harmful. The objective is to develop a more effective solution for asphalt pavement deicing. Inspired by the anti-icing coating technology used in high-voltage conductors, this research develops an ice-suppressing material designed to reduce the adhesion between snow, ice, and pavement surfaces. The material's performance is evaluated in terms of deicing efficiency, durability, adhesive properties, and its impact on pavement performance. Test results demonstrate that the developed ice-suppressing material significantly reduces the adhesion between the ice layer and the pavement, facilitating easier removal. This study concludes that the developed ice-suppressing material significantly enhances deicing efficiency on asphalt pavements. It exhibits strong hydrophobic properties, as evidenced by increased water droplet contact angles on coated surfaces (99.5° to 83.3°) compared to clean glass slides (39.2° to 29°). This hydrophobicity effectively reduces ice adhesion, decreasing tensile and shear strength of the ice layer by 38.2% and 63.6%, respectively. Additionally, the material demonstrates superior ice-melting capabilities in sub-zero temperatures, with coated ice cubes showing a higher mass reduction rate than uncoated ones. Importantly, its slow-release nature ensures sustained deicing performance over multiple cycles, maintaining effectiveness after seven test cycles. This study introduces an innovative ice-suppressing material that not only improves the efficiency and environmental impact of deicing methods but also contributes to enhancing road safety in winter conditions. Although the role of WRKY transcription factors (TFs) in colour formation has been reported in several species, their function in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) anthocyanin biosynthesis remains unclear. In this study, the potato WRKY gene StWRKY13 was isolated and characterised. Expression analysis revealed a significantly higher StWRKY13 expression in chromatic tubers than in yellow ones. Transient activation assays showed that StWRKY13 could enhance the role of StAN2 in promoting anthocyanin biosynthesis in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.). Over-expressing the StWRKY13 gene promoted anthocyanin biosynthesis in potato tubers. Further investigations indicated that StWRKY13 could interact with the StCHS , StF3H , StDFR , and StANS gene promoters and significantly enhance their activities. Our findings showed that StWRKY13 could promote anthocyanin biosynthesis by activating StCHS , StF3H , StDFR , and StANS transcription in potato tubers, thereby supporting the theoretical basis for anthocyanins formation in coloured potato tubers. Anthocyanin can not only protect plants from biotic and abiotic stresses, but also play an important role in human health. Over-expressing the StWRKY13 gene promoted anthocyanin biosynthesis in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tubers, and the expression of StCHS , StF3H , StDFR and StANS could be significantly activated. This is the first report on the regulation of anthocyanin synthesis by WRKY gene in potato, so the findings enrich the theoretical basis for anthocyanin formation in coloured potato tubers.
