It is crucial to study the materials that could effectively facilitate the inter‐conversion between charge, spin, and orbital degrees of freedom. In this work, the conversion among these three types of degrees of freedom in Pt/CoFeB/rare‐earth (RE, represents Nd, Gd, and Ho)/Ti multilayers is manipulated. Through terahertz (THz) emission measurements, it is found that the spin current induced by a femtosecond laser is converted into an orbital current via the spin‐orbit coupling of the RE layer. Notably, the light RE (Nd) and heavy RE (Gd and Ho) induce the orbital current with opposite polarization directions, ultimately leading to a weakening or enhancement of the THz emission intensity, respectively. Moreover, the fast Fourier transform reveals that Gd exerts the most significant influence on increasing the whole THz spectrum within the Pt/CoFeB/RE/Ti structure. The findings of RE‐modulated spin‐to‐orbital conversion provide valuable insights into the fundamental transport mechanism of the orbital current. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Interventional embolotherapy is widely used in clinical treatment of conservative liver cancer. This method has many advantages, such as good targeting, mild trauma, and low complications. The operation of transcatheter arterial embolization is to inject embolic microspheres into the arterial blood vessels of diseased organs, so as to occlude them and interrupt the blood supply, thus achieving the therapeutic purpose. However, there are still some deficiencies in clinical materials, for example catheter obstruction or vascular regeneration. In this study, pentaerythritol triallyl ether (APE) and its esterified product APEAA were used to prepare new polymeric amorphous embolic granules (PAPE and PAPEAA). The purpose is to overcome the excessive swelling problems of traditional polyvinyl alcohol granules (PVA). We verified that PAPE and PAPEAA were quickly and efficiently polymerized by photo‐driven radical‐mediated [3 + 2] cyclopolymerization mechanism (PRMC). RT‐FTIR was used to explore the best route of photopolymerization initiated by four photoinitiators. Four physical properties experiments all prove that the particle has good physical properties. In vivo animal experiments, it is confirmed that the particles can achieve the expected effect and have good biological safety. Biochar prepared from crop straw is an economical method for adsorbing bromocresol green (BCG) from textile industrial wastewater. However, there is limited research on the adsorption mechanism of biochar for the removal of BCG. This study utilized cucumber straw as raw material to prepare biochar with good adsorption potential and characterized its physicochemical properties. Through adsorption experiments, the effects of solution pH, biochar dosage, and initial dye concentration on adsorption performance were examined. The adsorption mechanism of cucumber straw biochar (CBC) for BCG was elucidated at the molecular level using adsorption kinetics, adsorption isotherm models, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Results show that the specific surface area of the CBC is 101.58 m2/g, and it has a high degree of carbonization, similar to the structure of graphite crystals. The presence of aromatic rings, –OH groups, and –COOH groups in CBC provides abundant adsorption sites for BCG. The adsorption process of CBC for BCG is influenced by both physical and chemical adsorption, and can be described by the Langmuir isotherm model, indicating a monolayer adsorption process. The theoretical maximum monolayer adsorption capacity (qm) of BCG at 298 K was calculated to be 99.18 mg/g. DFT calculations reveal interactions between BCG and CBC involving electrostatic interactions, van der Waals forces, halogen–π interactions, π–π interactions, and hydrogen bonds. Additionally, the interaction of hydrogen bonds between BCG and the –COOH group of biochar is stronger than that between BCG and the –OH group. Atypical L858R or other L858X mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene, beyond the classical EGFRL858R mutation caused by c.2573 T > G, have been identified in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), yet their genomic features and survival benefits with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment have not been fully explored. We retrospectively enrolled 489 NSCLC patients with baseline tumor tissue/plasma samples carrying uncommon EGFRL858R (N = 124), EGFRL858Q/M (N = 17), or classical EGFRL858R mutations (N = 348). The comparison of molecular features was performed using treatment‐naïve tumor tissues. Survival benefits and resistance mechanisms of first‐line EGFR TKI treatment were studied in an advanced disease subcohort. NSCLCs harboring uncommon EGFRL858R had lower TP53 mutation prevalence (p = 0.04) and chromosome instability scores (p = 0.02) than those with classical EGFRL858R. Concomitant EGFRL861Q mutations were enriched in NSCLCs with EGFRL858Q/M (p < 0.01), with cooccurrence in those carrying EGFRL858M. Patients with uncommon EGFRL858R experienced improved progression‐free survival (PFS) compared to those with classical EGFRL858R (median: 13.0 vs. 10.0 months, hazard ratio [HR]: 0.57, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.41–0.80). The association remained significant when adjusting for sex, age, histological subtype, TKI category, and anti‐vascular therapy (HR: 0.55, 95% CI: 0.39–0.77). Furthermore, EGFRL858Q/M patients showed enhanced first‐line PFS (vs. classical EGFRL858R, HR: 0.26, 95% CI: 0.10–0.67), potentially benefiting more from afatinib. Additionally, NSCLCs with uncommon EGFRL858R and classical EGFRL858R had similar resistance profiles to EGFR TKIs. In conclusion, NSCLCs carrying atypical EGFR L858 aberrations, which had fewer TP53 mutations and higher chromosome stability, exhibited improved PFS under first‐line EGFR TKIs than those with the classical EGFRL858R. This article explores the role of Polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) in tumorigenesis, specifically in colorectal cancer (CRC) and lung cancer. The study analyzes the mutational landscape of PLK1 and concomitant mutations in these cancers. The findings suggest that PLK1 may have tumor-suppressor features and caution should be exercised when using PLK1 inhibitors. The study also identifies different mutation subtypes of PLK1 and their associations with other genetic abnormalities in CRC.
