1. Preparation, in Vitro Anti-inflammatory Activity and Structural Characterization of Acipenser schrenckii Milt Peptide

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory potential and molecular properties of sturgeon (Acipenser schrenckii) milt peptide (SMP). SMP was obtained from alkali-extracted protein from sturgeon milt by enzymatic hydrolysis and purification, and its inhibitory effect on nitric oxide (NO) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) denaturation was evaluated. Then, the molecular mass, secondary structure, crystalline structure, proton peak distribution and amino acid sequence were determined by various spectroscopies, and based on the obtained results, the anti-inflammatory activity of amino acid sequences was predicted. The results showed that at a concentration of 10 mg/mL, SMP inhibited NO and BSA degradation by 45.33% and 60.34%, respectively, which was significantly more effective than sturgeon milt protein (P < 0.05). Basic and hydrophobic amino acids accounted for 37.45% and 36.77% the total amino acids of SMP, respectively, with arginine accounting for the highest proportion (16.28%). The molecular masses of SMP were concentrated in the range of 206–1 040 Da, which mainly showed an irregular amorphous structure and exposed more hydrophobic groups in aqueous solution. SMP contained many short peptides, including MPY, YWH, YPY and VPPL, and these peptide sequences had anti-inflammatory properties. In summary, SMP has potential anti-inflammatory activity and possesses the potential for further development and application as a promising source of natural anti-inflammatory peptides.

Abstract

Neurologic autoimmune disorders affect people’s physical and mental health seriously. Glial cells, as an important part of the nervous system, play a vital role in the occurrence of neurologic autoimmune disorders. Glial cells can be hyperactivated in the presence of autoantibodies or pathological changes, to influence neurologic autoimmune disorders. This review is mainly focused on the roles of glial cells in neurologic autoimmune disorders and the influence of autoantibodies produced by autoimmune disorders on glial cells. We speculate that the possibility of glial cells might be a novel way for the investigation and therapy of neurologic autoimmune disorders.

11. Dual-axial engineering on atomically dispersed catalysts for ultrastable oxygen reduction in acidic and alkaline solutions.

Abstract

Atomically dispersed catalysts are a promising alternative to platinum group metal catalysts for catalyzing the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), while limited durability during the electrocatalytic process severely restricts their practical application. Here, we report an atomically dispersed Co-doped carbon−nitrogen bilayer catalyst with unique dual-axial Co–C bonds (denoted as Co/DACN) by a smart phenyl-carbon-induced strategy, realizing highly efficient electrocatalytic ORR in both alkaline and acidic media. The corresponding half-wave potential for ORR is up to 0.85 and 0.77 V (vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE)) in 0.5 M H2SO4 and 0.1 M KOH, respectively, representing the best ORR activity among all non-noble metal catalysts reported to date. Impressively, the Zn–air battery (ZAB) equipped with Co/DACN cathode achieves outstanding durability after 1,688 h operation at 10 mA cm−2 with a high current density (154.2 mA cm−2) and a peak power density (210.1 mW cm−2). Density functional theory calculations reveal that the unique dual-axial cross-linking Co−C bonds of Co/DACN significantly enhance the stability during ORR and also facilitate the 4e− ORR pathway by forming a joint electron pool due to the improved interlayer electron mobility. We believe that axial engineering opens a broad avenue to develop high-performance heterogeneous electrocatalysts for advanced energy conversion and storage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

19. A Multitask Cross-Lingual Summary Method Based on ABO Mechanism

Abstract

Recent cross-lingual summarization research has pursued the use of a unified end-to-end model which has demonstrated a certain level of improvement in performance and effectiveness, but this approach stitches together multiple tasks and makes the computation more complex. Less work has focused on alignment relationships across languages, which has led to persistent problems of summary misordering and loss of key information. For this reason, we first simplify the multitasking by converting the translation task into an equal proportion of cross-lingual summary tasks so that the model can perform only cross-lingual summary tasks when generating cross-lingual summaries. In addition, we splice monolingual and cross-lingual summary sequences as an input so that the model can fully learn the core content of the corpus. Then, we propose a reinforced regularization method based on the model to improve its robustness, and build a targeted ABO mechanism to enhance the semantic relationship alignment and key information retention of the cross-lingual summaries. Ablation experiments are conducted on three datasets of different orders of magnitude to demonstrate the effective enhancement of the model by the optimization approach; they outperform the mainstream approaches on the cross-lingual summarization task and the monolingual summarization task for the full dataset. Finally, we validate the model’s capabilities on a cross-lingual summary dataset of professional domains, and the results demonstrate its superior performance and ability to improve cross-lingual sequencing.
