Abstract

Magnons in antiferromagnets can support both right-handed and left-handed chiralities, which shed a light on the chirality-based spintronics. Here we demonstrate the switching and reading of magnon chirality in an artificial antiferromagnet. The coexisting antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic characteristic resonance modes are discovered, which permits a high tunability in the modulation of magnon chirality. The reading of the chirality is accomplished via the chirality-dependent spin pumping as well as spin rectification effect. Our result illustrates an ideal antiferromagnetic platform for handling magnon chirality and paves the way for chirality-based spintronics.

Abstract

Extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS) is a rare soft-tissue sarcoma that is treated with surgical resection, chemotherapy and radiotherapy; however, as it is now considered to be radiation resistance, it is associated with conflicting management principles and poor outcomes. A multimodality approach is currently used to treat ESOS, which entails the incorporation of multidrug chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy coupled with surgery to obtain the best outcome; however, there are many factors that influence the treatment effects and clinical outcomes of ESOS. In the present study, a case of an 81-year-old man who suffered from primary ESOS in the subcutaneous tissue of the right-hand side of the neck was reported. The patient was treated several times with partial resection and once with radiotherapy, and was still living following 3 years of follow-up. Thus, the present case report demonstrated that surgical resection and postoperative radiotherapy regimens may be favourable in the short term with a disease-free survival of ~15 months; however, patients are prone to relapse.

Abstract

Promoted by K2 CO3 (2.0 equiv), the 1,3-dipolar [3+3] cy-cloaddition between 1, 4-benzodiazepinone-based nitrones and α-halohydroxamates processed smoothly under the mild reaction conditions and delivered structurally novel and complex cis - or trans -configured d -edge heterocycle-fused 1,4-benzodiazepinones in up to >99% isolated yield with >20:1 dr. The relative configuration of the title chemical entities was clearly identified with the use of single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. To observe the impact of "Tongyuan" (regulating the Governor Vessel to tranquilize mental activities, conductingSeventy-four cerebral stroke patients with tracheo-tomy were randomly allocated to scalp acupuncture and "Tongyuan" acupuncture groups (After the treatment, the CRGS and CPIS of both groups were apparently decreased in comparison with their own pre-treatment ("Tongyuan" acupuncture treatment can improve cough reflex to remove sputum, reduce pulmonary infection, enhance swallowing function, and raise the success rate of extubation in stroke patients, which is better than scalp acupuncture.

Abstract

Farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is an important regulator of glucose and lipid homeostasis. However, the exact role of FXR in diabetes remains to be fully elucidated. The present study examined the effects of chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA), an agonist of FXR, on metabolism profile in a rat model of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Male Wistar rats (8‑week‑old; n=40) were randomized into the following four groups (n=10): Untreated control, CDCA‑treated, T2DM, and CDCA‑treated T2DM. To establish the T2DM model, the rats were fed a high‑fat diet (HFD) for 4 weeks and received a single low‑dose intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (30 mg/kg), followed by an additional 4 weeks of HFD feeding. CDCA was administrated (10 mg/kg/d) intraperitoneally for 10 days. Reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blotting assays were performed to determine the RNA and protein expression of FXR, phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase, G6Pase, proliferator‑activated receptor‑γ coactivator‑1 and short heterodimer partner in rat liver tissue. The results revealed that FXR activation by CDCA did not reduce body weight, but it lowered the plasma levels of fasting glucose, insulin and triglycerides in the T2DM rats. CDCA administration reversed the downregulation of the mRNA and protein expression of FXR in the T2DM rat liver tissue samples. Furthermore, treatment with CDCA reduced the mRNA and protein expression levels of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase, glucose 6‑phosphatase and peroxisome proliferator‑activated receptor‑γ coactivator‑1 in the liver tissue samples of the T2DM rats. By contrast, CDCA treatment increased the mRNA and protein expression levels of short heterodimer partner in the liver tissue samples of the T2DM rats. In conclusion, FXR agonist treatment induces beneficial effects on metabolism in the rat T2DM model. In conclusion, the present study indicated that the FXR agonist may be useful for the treatment of T2DM and hypertriglyceridemia.

Abstract

Under the catalysis of PhCO2 H, the 1,3-dipolar [3+2] cyclo-addition between pyrazolone-based olefins and N , N ′-cyclic azomethine imines proceeded readily, thus delivering structurally novel spiropyrazolones with up to 98% yield and >20:1 dr. The relative stereochemical configuration of the obtained spiropyrazolones was unambiguously -assigned by X-ray single-crystal structure analysis. 26. Hypersonic Boundary Layer Instability Over a Corner

Abstract

A boundary-layer transition study over a compression corner was conducted under a hypersonic flow condition. Due to the discontinuities in boundary layer flow, the full Navier-Stokes equations were solved to simulate the development of disturbance in the boundary layer. A linear stability analysis and PSE method were used to get the initial disturbance for parallel and non-parallel flow respectively. A 2-D code was developed to solve the full Navier-stokes by using WENO(weighted essentially non-oscillating) scheme. The given numerical results show the evolution of the linear disturbance for the most amplified disturbance in supersonic and hypersonic flow over a compression ramp. The nonlinear computations also determined the minimal amplitudes necessary to cause transition at a designed location.

Abstract

In this paper, we report on the magnetic properties of Fe3O4 nanoparticles with different grain sizes under different pressures. In all the samples, the saturated magnetization Ms shows a linear decrease with increasing pressure. The thickness of the magnetic dead layer on the nanoparticle surface under different pressures was roughly estimated, which also increases with increasing pressure. The transport measurements of the nanoparticle Fe3O4 compacts show that the low-field magnetoresistance (MR) value is insensitive to the grain size in a wide temperature range; however, the high-field MR value is dependent on grain size, especially at low temperatures. These experimental results can be attributed to the different surface states of the nanoparticles.

Abstract

In this paper, we present a study of the magnetic coupling and magnetoresistance (MR) properties in Fe/Si1-xAgx multilayers with a granular Si1-xAgx spacer layer. We have found that, with increasing silver content (x) in a silicon matrix, the magnetic state of multilayers changes from a nonmagnetic coupling state to weak antiferromagnetic around the percolation point of the ~2.4 nm thick spacer Si1-xAgx. The MR measurements also reveal an abrupt increase of MR near the same percolation point. These changes are ascribed to the formation of the percolation path in the granular spacer.
