IntroductionElectronic cigarettes are increasingly popular worldwide, especially among youth. There is growing evidence of the negative health consequences of vaping. Our objective was to assess university students' knowledge and attitudes regarding electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes), their use, as well as the associated influencing factors for their use.MethodsThe study involved an online cross-sectional survey conducted between November 2019 and March 2020 in a university in Hangzhou, China. A total of 563 students completed the questionnaire. Descriptive statistics were used to assess characteristics, knowledge, and attitudes; t-tests, χ2-tests and logistic regression models were used to identify factors associated with ever e-cigarette use.ResultsIn all, 59.9% of respondents were female and the average age was 20.38 years (SD=1.32). Only 42.6% of the respondents thought that e-cigarettes contain nicotine, 31.1% thought e-cigarettes are tobacco products, and 8.2% of the students reported being ever e-cigarettes users. In regard to attitude, the average score of the students in the Safety dimension was 3.34 (SD=0.64), followed by the Restriction dimension (Mean=2.66, SD=0.83). Correlates of ever use included regions, friends' and roommates' ever e-cigarette use, and higher attitude score in the Supervision dimension.ConclusionsThe university students' level of knowledge regarding e-cigarettes was not high, and their attitudes regarding e-cigarettes were not that supportive. Students' ever use of e-cigarettes at a university in Hangzhou was higher than for university students in other cities in China, but lower than for those in foreign countries.

The purpose of this study was to compare the long-term survival of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (stages IB2-IIB) treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by radical hysterectomy (hysterectomy plus pelvic lymph node dissection) (NACT + RS) with the survival of those treated with radical surgery (hysterectomy plus pelvic lymph node dissection) (RS) or concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT).A retrospective study was performed. Patients were followed up for 54 to 114 months (median, 82.8 months). All risk factors that may have affected the disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were assessed.From January 2000 to December 2005, 476 eligible patients were followed up. The 5-year DFS rates of the NACT + RS, RS, and CCRT groups were 85.00%, 77.44%, and 52.94%, respectively (P < 0.0001), whereas the 5-year OS rates were 88.67%, 80.21% and 64.37%, respectively (P < 0.0001). The NACT + RS group had significantly higher survival rates than both the RS (DFS: hazard ratio = 1.870, P = 0.0031; OS: hazard ratio = 1.813, P = 0.0175) and CCRT (DFS: hazard ratio = 3.535, P < 0.0001; OS: hazard ratio = 3.157, P < 0.0001) groups, while adjusting for the pathological type, clinical stage, tumor size (initial), and age. The 5-year DFS rate for patients receiving TP (paclitaxel and cisplatin) was 90.55%, and 71.70% for patients receiving PVB (cisplatin, vincristine, and bleomycin); the 5-year OS rates were 96.75% for TP and 70.09% for PVB, respectively. Patients receiving TP had a statistically significant improvement in both 5-year DFS and OS rates (P < 0.001).Neoadjuvant NACT + RS improves the long-term DFS and OS of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer stage IB2-IIB compared with RS alone and especially compared with CCRT. In the NACT + RS group, NACT with TP improves the long-term DFS and OS of patients compared with patients who had PVB chemotherapy regimen. ABSTRACT Objectives Design Sample Measure Results Conclusion: Compliance is crucial for patients to control and manage their high blood pressure. This study assesses the compliance levels of hypertensive patients in China and explores the factors influencing compliance.A descriptive, cross‐sectional design was conducted.A total of 371 hypertensive patients were recruited from six County hospitals and 12 township health centers in Zhejiang Province, China.Patient compliance was measured using the Hypertensive Patient Scale (CHPS). Independent‐sample T‐test or variance analysis was applied to analyze CHPS scores by sociodemographic factors, and linear regression was used to explore the significant correlates of the total CHPS score.The total score of CHPS was 50.18 ± 6.12. Among the seven domains, drug treatment and lifestyle had the highest and lowest average scores, 3.59 ± 0.87 and 2.74 ± 0.73, respectively. The total score of CHPS positively associated with age (β = 0.075, p = 0.028), > 7 years of hypertension (β = 1.896, p = 0.022; Ref: < 3 years), and negatively associated with males (β = −2.224, p = 0.001; Ref: female) and rural area (β = −2.008, p = 0.007; Ref: urban area).These findings highlight the importance of related measurements of the local “health‐oriented” healthcare system. Introduction: Hangzhou Public Places Smoking Control Regulations (2019) have been gradually adopted, which explicitly stipulate that smoking is strictly prohibited in the outdoor areas of educational and healthcare institutions for minors. However, there are few studies reporting the exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS) in outdoor public places for minors in the urban area of Hangzhou City., Methods: We aimed to assess the exposure to SHS in public spaces frequented by minors using on-site observations and questionnaires. In this cross-sectional study, the area was divided into core and non-core areas based on the spatial distribution and development process of the city. The core areas included the West Lake commercial district, extending to the Qiantang River, while non-core areas were located beyond this radius. Using stratified random sampling, 30 public places in each area were selected as observation sites. On-site observations measured SHS exposure and smoking control, and questionnaires were administered to 6 individuals at each site. The results were compared between the two investigation methods., Results: Among the 57 valid observation points, 24.6% (14/57) did not display any no-smoking signs. Outdoor SHS exposure rate from on-site observation P1 (observing someone smoking or smelling tobacco smoke), on-site observation P2 (observing someone smoking or smelling tobacco smoke or seeing cigarette butts) and questionnaire survey P3, were 59.6% (95% CI: 45.7-72.2), 91.1% (95% CI: 79.7-96.7) and 41.0% (95% CI: 35.5-46.7), respectively., Conclusions: The outdoor SHS exposure in areas frequented by minors in the urban district of Hangzhou City remains high, coupled with a lack of awareness of SHS risks among underage individuals. Therefore, controlling outdoor SHS exposure in these key areas is a critical public health issue in Hangzhou, requiring further tobacco control efforts. Background: Sarcopenia is a progressive geriatric syndrome that impacts older adults' quality of life. Insufficient focus has been given to sarcopenia among Chinese residents, resulting in low level of sarcopenia awareness. This study aims to investigate awareness of sarcopenia and its influencing factors and the influencing pathways among older adults in Hangzhou., Methods: A stratified random sample of 942 community-dwelling older adults was evaluated using the SARC-CalF screening tool, along with a questionnaire based on health ecology theory to assess awareness of sarcopenia and its influencing factors and the influencing pathways. Descriptive statistics, linear regression analysis, and path analysis were conducted using SPSS 25.0 and Amos 23.0 to analyze the data., Results: The mean awareness score for sarcopenia was 60.26 ± 7.31. Self-rated physical health, daily intake of high-quality protein, exercise frequency, smoking status, self-efficacy, religious beliefs, social support, education level, occupation, participation in community free medical examinations, and awareness of nutrition policy were all factors affecting scores for sarcopenia awareness ( p < 0.05). Except for negative effects observed in social support, smoking status, and self-rated physical health, all others exhibit positive effects., Conclusion: Community healthcare institutions should target populations with low awareness of sarcopenia and focus on these key factors. To evaluate the application of urinary metabolomics on discovering potential biomarkers for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), urine samples from 40 preoperative EOC patients, 62 benign ovarian tumor (BOT) patients, and 54 healthy controls were collected and analyzed with ultraperformance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF/MS). Good separations were obtained for EOC vs BOT, EOC vs healthy controls analyzed by partial least-squares discriminant analysis, or principal component analysis. Twenty-two ascertained metabolomic biomarkers were found to be disturbed in several metabolic pathways among EOC patients, including nucleotide metabolism (pseudouridine, N4-acetylcytidine), histidine metabolism (L-histidine, imidazol-5-yl-pyruvate), tryptophan metabolism (3-indolelactic acid), and mucin metabolism (3'-sialyllactose and 3-sialyl-N-acetyllactosamine). In addition, the concentrations of some urinary metabolites of 18 postoperative EOC patients among the 40 EOC patients changed significantly compared with those of their preoperative condition, and four of them suggested recovery tendency toward normal level after surgical operation, including N4-acetylcytidine, pseudouridine, urate-3-ribonucleoside, and succinic acid. These metabolites would be highly postulated to be associated with EOC. In conclusion, our study demonstrated that urinary metabolomics analysis by UPLC-QTOF/MS, performed in a minimally noninvasive and convenient manner, possessed great potential in biomarker discovery for EOC.
