In order to open a wide temperature window for a magnetostructural transformation, Sn–Co co-doping was explored in the Mn 50 Ni 50 alloy. The experimental results show that doping with Sn and doping with Co have different effects on the martensitic and austenitic structures, the martensitic transformation, the thermal hysteresis and the magnetic properties of the martensitic and austenitic phases. By tuning the Sn and Co content in Mn 50 Ni 50− x − y Sn x Co y from x = 11, y = 0 to x = 6, y = 14, the martensitic transformation temperature, T m , could be adjusted over the range from 99 K to 450 K, with the condition that T m remains lower than the Curie temperature of the austenitic phase, T c a , which varied from 288 K to 565 K. Thus, a 351 K temperature window for the magnetostructural transformation was established and a series of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys was identified. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Inverted small molecule organic solar cells were fabricated with a Ca modified indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates as the cathode and molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) interlayer modified Ag as anode. The Ca and MoO3 layers were found to be critical to the device performance. The insertion of Ca forms Ohmic contact between ITO and fullerene (C60), significantly enhancing the fill factor and further improvement of efficiency by 65% compared to the device without Ca layer. MoO3 interlayer has multiple functions as anode buffer layer, effectively preventing the exciton quenching and reducing the interfacial resistance. Optimal copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) thickness of 25nm demonstrates that the balance between light harvesting and charge transport is obtained and a maximum PCE of 0.64% under 100mW/cm2 is achieved. Abstract: We report an improved quantum dot sensitized solar cell (QDSSC) by loading mercaptopropionic acid (MPA)-capped CdSe QDs on TiO2 film in aqueous solution. Under suitable pH value, a power conversion efficiency of 1.19% and an incident photon to current conversion efficiency of 26% for the QDSSC were obtained at AM1.5G irradiation. The improved performance of QDSSC is attributed to the large loading and good coverage of QDs on TiO2 film with optimal pH value. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
