Radiative cooling, as a renewable cooling technology, is expected to mitigate growing global warming. However, the barrier when promoting radiative cooling from the laboratory to practice is still a blind spot and needs to be discussed right now. Here, on the basis of review for brief history, we propose a developing thread that the studies on radiative cooling arise from practice and in turn serves practice at the end. This perspective orderly elaborates fundamental limit in theory, realization of spectral-selective materials, practice on criteria for cooling performance, challenges and corresponding possible solutions in practice, and focusing on serving practice. We hope that the criticism for our own opinion could trigger researchers to deeply consider how to make achievement of radiative cooling better serving practice in the future.

To reduce energy consumption in data center cooling systems and ensure the healthy and rapid development of data centers, this study investigated on the cooling system of a data center in Guangzhou. Aimed at the efficiency variations of chillers at different Partial Load Rates (PLR), a novel model predictive control method was proposed. The study employed Gaussian process regression to establish a chillers' operational efficiency model and utilized Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural networks to create an outdoor wet bulb temperature time series prediction model. The cooling system's chilled water storage and discharge modes, storage and discharge capacity, the number of chillers, and the PLR were adjusted based on the data center cooling load and the prediction of outdoor wet bulb temperature. This adjustment aims to partially decouple the demand and supply sides, resulting in the chillers being operated in high efficiency or turned off, thereby reducing the operational energy consumption of the cooling system. Compared to the traditional rule-based control strategy, the model predictive control strategy reduced the overall energy consumption by 3.13% and operating costs by 3.33%.

In the context of global climate warming, the propagation of meteorological drought (MD) may aggravate the devastating impact of hydrological drought (HD) on water security and sustainable development. There are challenges in accurately predicting the propagation of drought and effectively quantifying the effects of uncertainty, especially in data-deficient regions. In this study, a novel method called RFCFA is developed through integrating random forest (RF), copula, and factorial analysis (FA) into a general framework as well as applied to the Aral Sea Basin (a typical arid and data-scarce basin in Central Asia) under considering the impact of climate change. Several findings can be summarized: (1) the projected future drought propagation probability of ASB is 39.2%, which is about 8% higher than historical level; (2) drought propagation is mainly affected by mean climate condition, catchment characteristics (i.e., elevation, LUCC, and slope), and human activities (i.e., irrigation and reservoir operation); (3) the lower propagation probability in spring is expected under SSP1-2.6 due to increased snow meltwater, and the drought propagation probability in autumn is the highest (reaching 45.4%) under the influence of reservoir operation; (4) the combined effects of meteorological conditions and agricultural irrigation can lead to a higher probability of future propagation in the upper river basin in summer. Findings are valuable for predicting drought propagation risk, revealing main factors and inherent uncertainties, as well as providing support for drought management and disaster prevention.

LincRNA-P21 is a tumor suppressor in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Cell adhesion modules play vital roles in cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions and malignant cancer progression. In this study, we investigate whether lincRNA-P21 exerts its functions by regulating the cell adhesion molecule cadherin 5 (CDH5) in ESCC. Moreover, the RNA binding protein (RBP) mediators of lincRNA-P21 and CDH5 are further examined. Cell viability, growth and migratory ability are assessed by calcein-AM/PI double staining, CCK-8, EdU, Transwell, and wound healing assays. The expression of collagen I and fibronectin is examined by immunofluorescence (IF). LincRNA-P21 and CDH5 are quantified by RT-qPCR and western blot analysis. Potential lincRNA-P21 targets are identified by RNA sequencing. RBPs that can interact with lincRNA-P21 and CDH5 are identified by RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assay. LincRNA-P21 knockdown increases cell viability, growth, cell migration, and collagen I and fibronectin expression in ESCC cells. LincRNA-P21 depletion induces the dysregulation of 316 genes, including CDH5, in TE-1 cells. CDH5 is identified as a downstream molecule of lincRNA-P21 given its close correlation with cell adhesion, ECM reconstruction, and cancer progression. LincRNA-P21 exerts its functions by negatively regulating CDH5 expression. YTH domain containing 1 (YTHDC1) mediates the regulatory effect of lincRNA-P21 on CDH5. LincRNA-P21 knockdown elevates cell viability and growth, promotes cell migration, and induces ECM reorganization by upregulating CDH5 via RBP YTHDC1 in ESCC.

Novel (Cr,V)-ZrSiO4 jewel green pigments were synthesized by in situ mineralization at 900°C. The effects of Cr/Si molar ratio were investigated via DTA-TG, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, UV-Vis-NIR, colorimeter and etc. The obtained results referred that the colour of pigment exhibits blue to jewel green, and then to dark green as the Cr/Si molar ratio increases from 0 to 0.4. When the Cr/Si molar ratio is 0.2, the (Cr,V)-ZrSiO4 pigment exhibits a jewel green hue (L* = 56.69, a* = −18.52, b* = −9.28), showing good rendering performance. In addition, the obtained pigment shows good thermal stability in the base glaze synthesized at 1200°C and near-infrared reflection performance. The results of this study show great potential for using the pigments for heat insulation.

In order to investigate the influence of the refining process on the quality and sensory properties of snakehead fish oil, the physicochemical properties, fatty acid composition and volatile flavor composition during the refining process of crude fish oil extracted from snakehead viscera were evaluated. The results showed that the physicochemical properties of snakehead fish oil were significantly improved; the acid value, peroxide value, moisture content, volatile content, anisidine value and unsaponifiable matter content were significantly reduced, and the iodine value was increased. In total, 27 fatty acids were detected in snakehead fish oil, the major ones being oleic acid, linoleic acid, and palmitic acid. During the refining process, the number of fatty acids was almost unchanged, the contents of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids increased, while a reverse trend was observed for the content of saturated fatty acids. Additionally, a total of 99 volatile compounds were detected during the refining process of snakehead fish oil, among which 14 compounds including 1-octen-3-ol, hexanal, nonanal, 2-heptenal, (E,Z)-2,6-nonadienal, 2,4-decadienal, and trans-2,4-decadienal were the key flavor substances of snakehead fish oil. These findings provide a theoretical basis and technical support for the deep processing and high-value utilization of snakehead fish visceral oil.

Objective To investigate the health literacy level of military personnel and analyze its influencing factors so as to provide theoretical reference for formulating health education and health promotion programs. Methods From April to June in 2022, a cross-sectional survey was conducted on 9 768 military staffs in an army unit using the National Health Literacy Monitoring Questionnaire (compiled by the China Health Education Center in 2015), for 3 aspects of health knowledge and concept, healthy lifestyle and behavior, and basic skills. Six types of questions were surveyed, including scientific health concept, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, safety and first aid, basic medical treatment and health information. Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression model were used to analyze the obtained data. Results The overall level of health literacy was 46.2% in the participants. For the 3 aspects, the basic knowledge and concept literacy level was the highest (57.8%), followed by health skill literacy level (50.2%), and the healthy lifestyle and behavior literacy level (44.7%). Among the 6 types of questions, the literacy level of safety and first aid was the highest (79.9%), and the literacy level of chronic disease prevention was the lowest (35.2%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the health literacy level of non-commissioned officers and conscripts was lower than that of officers (OR=0.342, OR=0.493), and that of civilian personnel was higher than that of officers (OR=2.078). The health literacy level of military personnel working for 6~8 years was the highest (OR=1.329). The health literacy level of military personnel aged 41 to 45 years was the highest (OR=2.613). The health literacy level was higher in the females than the males (OR=1.472). The higher the education level was, the higher the health literacy level was, among which the health literacy level of military personnel with postgraduate degree or above was the highest (OR=3.212). The military personnel whose father was a teacher had the highest level of health literacy (OR=2.679). The health literacy level of military personnel whose mothers were medical personnel was the highest (OR=1.681). The health literacy level of military personnel whose father's degree was junior college/bachelor's degree was the highest (OR=1.398). The health literacy level of the military personnel whose mother had a postgraduate degree or above was the lowest (OR=0.230). Conclusion The health literacy level is relatively low in the military personnel from this unit, especially in the health literacy of lifestyle behavior and disease prevention. Relevant departments should actively take effective intervention measures according to the influencing factors of health literacy to promote the comprehensive improvement of health literacy of the troop.

This paper uses the A-share data of listed companies listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges from 2012 to 2016 and uses the Xtlogit model to test the relationship between managers’ overconfidence and M&A (mergers and acquisitions) decisions, and also to test the relationship between directors’ vigilance and managers’ overconfidence and M&A decisions, and the corresponding robustness test was carried out using the Xtprobit model. The study found that managers’ overconfidence can significantly promote M&A, and board vigilance can significantly moderate the relationship between managers’ overconfidence and M&A decision-making, and can inhibit M&A caused by managers’ overconfidence.

The multi-round sequential memory coal drawing technology can improve the recovery rate of top coal and gangue content in the fully mechanized working face. But it needs to accurately measure and control the time of each round of coal drawing in field application. In the practical application of the automatic coal drawing technology based on the top coal migration tracker, the top coal movement tracker is only used as a mark point and is arranged in the top coal. The top coal movement tracker can not obtain more top coal movement information. In view of the above problems, based on the top coal movement tracker, a top coal migration time measurement system based on accelerometer is designed. The system includes three parts: tag, collector and central computer. The label is placed inside the top coal, and moves along with the top coal in the coal drawing process. Through the built-in accelerometer, the specific force data is collected in real-time. The time measurement algorithm is called to realize the monitoring of top coal migration. Then the different coal drawing stages are determined. The top coal migration time information of different stages is calculated. When the tag is released from the coal chute, it collides with the scraper conveyor belt, and sends the top coal migration time information outward to the collector through the RF signal. The information is further transmitted to the central computer through the field bus to guide the fully mechanized working face to realize multi-round of sequential coal drawing on site. The hardware and software design of the time measurement label of top coal migration is introduced in detail. The functions of real-time acquisition of specific force value, wireless signal transmission and data storage are realized. A calibration platform with 3D turntable as the core and Gauss-Newton method as the calibration algorithm is built. The calibration of the accelerometer is completed. The calibrated accelerometer can accurately collect the specific force data of the top coal migration time measurement label. According to the migration characteristics of top coal in the process of coal drawing, the time measurement algorithm based on threshold and the time measurement algorithm based on long-term and short-term memory (LSTM) are proposed. The time measurement algorithm based on threshold realizes the time identification of motion stage by introducing static threshold and maximum threshold. The time measurement algorithm based on LSTM identifies the dynamic changes of the specific force vector sum in the time domain, finds the mutation point, and realizes the time identification of the motion stage. The performance test of the two time measurement algorithms is completed through the tag free falling experiment. The time measurement variance is 0.000 6 and 0.000 2 respectively. The time measurement error is 13.07% and 5.22% respectively. The results meet the on-site top coal migration time measurement requirements. And the time measurement algorithm based on LSTM has obvious application advantages in top coal migration time measurement.

Monoclinic zirconia (ZrO2) whiskers were made via the molten salt method using zirconyl chloride octahydrate (ZrOCl2 • 8H2O) as zirconium source, potassium chloride (KCl) as molten salt and lithium fluoride (LiF) as a mineraliser. DSC-TG, XRD, FE-SEM, Raman and TEM were performed to study the effects of heat treatment temperature, holding time and heating rate on the synthesis of zirconia whiskers. The results indicate that zirconia whiskers with diameters of 50-80 nm and aspect ratios of 10-30 can be obtained by heating the precursor at slow rate (3°C/min) to 718°C for 1 h and then at faster rate (7°C/min) to 950°C for 3 h. The whiskers have a smooth surface and grow in [001] direction. The key to the ZrO2 whiskers growth is the controlled dissolution and precipitation of the ZrO2 in a LiF-KCl molten salt solution environment.

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological features and survival rate of oral squamous cell carcinoma patients in China. Methods The clinicopathological characteristics, stage, treatment modality, and 5-year disease-specific survival (DSS) rate of 1 915 OCSCC patients who received initial treatment at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from 1990 to 2013 were collected and analyzed. The clinicopathological characteristics, stage, treatment modality, and 5-year disease-specific survival (DSS) rate of OCSCC patients treated during the successive decades of 1990-1999, 2000-2009, and 2010-2013 were analyzed retrospectively to show the trends over time. Results The average age of all OCSCC patients who received initial treatment at this cancer center from 1990 to 2013 was 54.8 years (SD, 12.6 years). The sex ratio was approximately 2:1. The oral tongue was the site most prone for OCSCC, accounting for 63.6% of all cases. The proportions of early-stage (Ⅰ-Ⅱ) and advanced-stage (Ⅲ-Ⅳ) cases were approximate. Regarding the treatment modality, surgery-based treatment accounted for 80.4%. Survival analysis showed that the 5-year DSS rate of all cases was 57%. Survival decreased with age. The survival of females, nonsmokers, and nondrinkers was higher than that of males, smokers, and drinkers. The 5-year DSS rates of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lips, oral tongue, and other sites of the oral cavity were 81%, 63%, and 42%, respectively. The 5-year DSS rates of patients who received surgery-based treatment and nonsurgical treatment were 66% and 19%, respectively. The analysis of trends over time showed that in the period of 1990-1999 and 2010-2013, the age and sex ratio were relatively stable. The proportion of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lips and oral tongue gradually decreased, while the proportion of those with squamous cell carcinoma of the other sites of the oral cavity gradually increased. The proportion of surgery-based treatment increased from 77.7% to 91.3%. The 5-year DSS rate gradually increased from 53% in 1990-1999 to 64% in 2010-2013. The 5-year DSS rate of female patients increased significantly from 55% to 78%. However, the 5-year DSS rate of male patients was relatively stable. The 5-year DSS rate of patients who received surgery-based treatment gradually increased from 62% to 69%. Conclusion The 5-year DSS rate has steadily improved for OCSCC patients at this cancer center from 1990-2013, especially in female patients. The 5-year DSS rate of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the oral tongue has reached the rate in developed countries worldwide. The proportion and survival rate of patients who received surgery-based treatment gradually increased. The survival rate of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the other sites of the oral cavity was significantly lower than that of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lips and oral tongue, suggesting that more effort should be put into the treatment of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the other sites of the oral cavity to improve the survival rate in the future.

According to classic stomatal optimization theory, plant stomata are regulated to maximize carbon assimilation for a given water loss. A key component of stomatal optimization models is marginal water-use efficiency (mWUE), the ratio of the change of transpiration to the change in carbon assimilation. Although the mWUE is often assumed to be constant, variability of mWUE under changing hydrologic conditions has been reported. However, there has yet to be a consensus on the patterns of mWUE variabilities and their relations with atmospheric aridity. We investigate the dynamics of mWUE in response to vapor pressure deficit (VPD) and aridity index using carbon and water fluxes from 115 eddy covariance towers available from the global database FLUXNET. We demonstrate a non-linear mWUE-VPD relationship at a sub-daily scale in general; mWUE varies substantially at both low and high VPD levels. However, mWUE remains relatively constant within the mid-range of VPD. Despite the highly non-linear relationship between mWUE and VPD, the relationship can be informed by the strong linear relationship between ecosystem-level inherent water-use efficiency (IWUE) and mWUE using the slope, m*. We further identify site-specific m* and its variability with changing site-level aridity across six vegetation types. We suggest accurately representing the relationship between IWUE and VPD using Michaelis–Menten or quadratic functions to ensure precise estimation of mWUE variability for individual sites.

MD simulations have been accomplished to study the transport properties of molten CaO-SiO2-P2O5-FeO system. The self-diffusion coefficients of Ca, Si, P, Fe and O ions increase with increasing slag basicity and FeO content, while decrease with increasing P2O5 content. The diffusivities of these ions in the quaternary melts follow the sequence of Ca>Fe>O>P>Si. The calculated viscosities are in good agreement with the experimental ones. It is obvious that increasing the amount of network formers (e. g., Si and P ions) leads to larger viscosity and degree of slag polymerization, while adding network modifiers (e. g., Fe and Ca ions) causes viscosity and slag polymerization to decrease. Except for the calculation, the FT-IR analysis also confirmed the relationship between structural properties of the slag and composition. The viscosity of the slag increases linearly with increasing the parameter of Q(Si+P).

Objective This study aimed to investigate the pathogenesis of geriatric asthma through immunoglobulin E (IgE), interleukin-17A (IL-17A), IL-17F, and glucocorticoid receptor-β (GR-β) expression. Methods We studied 51 geriatric male patients with asthma and 50 young male patients with asthma. We also included 21 normal geriatric males and 21 normal young males. All geriatric and young patients were divided into groups according to pulmonary function. Levels of cytokines, such as IgE, IL-17A, IL-17F, and GR-β, were measured. Pulmonary function was assessed. The results from patients were compared with those from the 42 healthy subjects. Results Serum IgE, IL-17A, IL-17F, and GR-β levels in geriatric patients with moderate or severe asthma were significantly higher than those in young patients with moderate asthma and in the normal population. Geriatric patients with asthma had higher asthma control test scores than did young patients with asthma. Conclusion Hormone resistance in geriatric male patients with asthma is more serious than that in young male patients with asthma. Airway inflammation and airway remodeling in geriatric male patients with asthma may be more serious than those in young male patients with asthma, even when there is similar pulmonary function.

Construction dust falls to the snow cover and the surface of the glacier to form a fouling layer to absorb more solar radiation and reduce the intensity of surface albedo, thereby accelerating the melting of the glacier, which is the main factor affecting the glacial environment in the Highway construction. This article adopts the combination method of wind tunnel experiment and numerical simulation was used to calculate the impact range of construction dust. The results show that with increasing of particle size, the diffusion range of dust decreased while the settlement speed increased. High dust concentration area (> 4mg / m3) is generally distributed within 1000m around the construction site. The specific extension direction is directly related to the local terrain and wind direction, and the height direction is generally not more than 300m. According to the above simulation results, for preventing and reducing the impact of highway construction on the glacial environment, the requirements of route selection and construction dust control measures was put forward, which played an important role and significance in guiding the highway design and construction and reducing the impact of highway construction on the glacial environment.
