We perform the potential analysis for the holographic Schwinger effect in spinning Myers-Perry black holes. We compute the potential between the produced pair by evaluating the classical action of a string attaching on a probe D3-brane sitting at an intermediate position in the AdS bulk. It turns out that increasing the angular momentum reduces the potential barrier thus enhancing the Schwinger effect, consistent with previous findings obtained from the local Lorentz transformation. In particular, these effects are more visible for the particle pair lying in the transversal plane compared with that along the longitudinal orientation. In addition, we discuss how the Schwinger effect changes with the shear viscosity to entropy density ratio at strong coupling under the influence of angular momentum., Comment: to be published in Chinese Physics C

For a moving heavy quark antiquark ($Q\bar{Q}$) in a quark gluon plasma (QGP), we use gauge/gravity duality to study both real and imaginary parts of the potential (Re$V_{Q\bar{Q}}$ and Im$V_{Q\bar{Q}}$ respectively) in a gluon condensate (GC) theory. The complex potential is derived from the Wilson loop by considering the thermal fluctuations of the worldsheet of the Nambu-Goto holographic string. We calculate Re$V_{Q\bar{Q}}$ and Im$V_{Q\bar{Q}}$ in both cases where the axis of the moving $Q\bar{Q}$ pair is transverse and parallel with respect to its direction of movement in the plasma. Using the renormalization scheme for the Re$V_{Q\bar{Q}}$ , we find that the inclusion of GC increases the dissociation length while rapidity has the opposite effect. While for the Im$V_{Q\bar{Q}}$ , we observe that by considering the effect of GC, the Im$V_{Q\bar{Q}}$ is generated for larger distance thus decreasing quarkonium dissociation, while rapidity has opposite effect. In particular, as the value of GC decreases in the deconfined phase, the Im$V_{Q\bar{Q}}$ is generated for smaller distance thus enhancing quarkonium dissociation, and at high temperatures it is nearly not modified by GC, consistent with previous findings of the entropic force., Comment: 21 pages, 10 figures, references are added

We perform the potential analysis for the holographic Schwinger effect in a rotating deformed AdS black-hole background. We calculate the total potential of a quark-antiquark ($Q\bar{Q}$) pair in an external electric field and evaluate the critical electric field from Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action. It is shown that the inclusion of angular velocity decreases the potential barrier thus enhancing the Schwinger effect, opposite to the effect of the confining scale. Moreover, by increasing angular velocity decreases the critical electric field above which the pairs are produced freely without any suppression. Speech enhancement (SE) is usually required as a front end to improve the speech quality in noisy environments, while the enhanced speech might not be optimal for automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems due to speech distortion. On the other hand, it was shown that self-supervised pre-training enables the utilization of a large amount of unlabeled noisy data, which is rather beneficial for the noise robustness of ASR. However, the potential of the (optimal) integration of SE and self-supervised pre-training still remains unclear. In order to find an appropriate combination and reduce the impact of speech distortion caused by SE, in this paper we therefore propose a joint pre-training approach for the SE module and the self-supervised model. First, in the pre-training phase the original noisy waveform or the waveform obtained by SE is fed into the self-supervised model to learn the contextual representation, where the quantified clean speech acts as the target. Second, we propose a dual-attention fusion method to fuse the features of noisy and enhanced speeches, which can compensate the information loss caused by separately using individual modules. Due to the flexible exploitation of clean/noisy/enhanced branches, the proposed method turns out to be a generalization of some existing noise-robust ASR models, e.g., enhanced wav2vec2.0. With the advance in self-supervised learning for audio and visual modalities, it has become possible to learn a robust audio-visual speech representation. This would be beneficial for improving the audio-visual speech recognition (AVSR) performance, as the multi-modal inputs contain more fruitful information in principle. In this paper, based on existing self-supervised representation learning methods for audio modality, we therefore propose an audio-visual representation learning approach. The proposed approach explores both the complementarity of audio-visual modalities and long-term context dependency using a transformer-based fusion module and a flexible masking strategy. After pre-training, the model is able to extract fused representations required by AVSR. Without loss of generality, it can be applied to single-modal tasks, e.g. audio/visual speech recognition by simply masking out one modality in the fusion module. Wav2vec2.0 is a popular self-supervised pre-training framework for learning speech representations in the context of automatic speech recognition (ASR). It was shown that wav2vec2.0 has a good robustness against the domain shift, while the noise robustness is still unclear. In this work, we therefore first analyze the noise robustness of wav2vec2.0 via experiments. We observe that wav2vec2.0 pre-trained on noisy data can obtain good representations and thus improve the ASR performance on the noisy test set, which however brings a performance degradation on the clean test set. To avoid this issue, in this work we propose an enhanced wav2vec2.0 model. Specifically, the noisy speech and the corresponding clean version are fed into the same feature encoder, where the clean speech provides training targets for the model. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method can not only improve the ASR performance on the noisy test set which surpasses the original wav2vec2.0, but also ensure a tiny performance decrease on the clean test set. We study the entropic destruction of heavy quarkonium in strongly coupled theories with an anisotropic scaling symmetry in time and spatial direction. We consider Lifshitz and hyperscaling violation theories which are covariant under a generalized Lifshitz scaling symmetry with the dynamical exponent $z$ and hyperscaling violation exponent $\theta$. It is shown that the entropic force depends on the parameters of these theories. In this paper, we propose a weakly supervised multilingual representation learning framework, called cross-lingual self-training (XLST). XLST is able to utilize a small amount of annotated data from high-resource languages to improve the representation learning on multilingual un-annotated data. Specifically, XLST uses a supervised trained model to produce initial representations and another model to learn from them, by maximizing the similarity between output embeddings of these two models. Furthermore, the moving average mechanism and multi-view data augmentation are employed, which are experimentally shown to be crucial to XLST. Comprehensive experiments have been conducted on the CommonVoice corpus to evaluate the effectiveness of XLST. Results on 5 downstream low-resource ASR tasks shows that our multilingual pretrained model achieves relatively 18.6% PER reduction over the state-of-the-art self-supervised method, with leveraging additional 100 hours of annotated English data., Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure

Previous research has shown that the peak of the quarkonium entropy at the deconfinement transition would be related to the entropic force which induces the melting of quarkonium. We consider $R^4$ corrections to the holographic Schwinger effect in an AdS black hole background and a confining D3-brane background. The potential between a test particle pair are performed for both backgrounds. We find there is no potential barrier in the critical electric field, which means that the system becomes catastrophically unstable. It is shown that for both backgrounds increasing the inverse 't Hooft coupling parameter $1/\lambda$ enhances the Schwinger effect. We study the drag force and diffusion coefficient with respect to a moving heavy quark in a D-instanton background, which corresponds to the Yang-Mills theory in the deconfining, high-temperature phase. It is shown that the presence of the D-instanton density tends to increase the drag force and decrease the diffusion coefficient, reverse to the effects of the velocity and the temperature. The entropic force has been recently argued to be responsible for dissociation of heavy quarkonia. In this paper, we analyze $R^2$ corrections and $R^4$ corrections to the entropic force, respectively. It is shown that for $R^2$ corrections, increasing $\lambda_{GB}$ (Gauss-Bonnet factor) leads to increasing the entropic force. We study the effect of a constant magnetic field on the imaginary part of a quarkonia potential in a strongly-coupled $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM plasma. We consider the pair axis to be aligned perpendicularly and parallel to the magnetic field, respectively. For both cases, we find that the presence of the magnetic field tends to enhance the imaginary potential thus decreasing the the thermal width. Applying AdS/CFT correspondence, we study the effect of a constant magnetic field $\mathcal{B}$ on the drag force associated with a heavy quark moving through a strongly-coupled $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) plasma. The quark is considered moving transverse and parallel to $\mathcal{B}$, respectively. It is shown that for transverse case, the drag force is linearly dependent on $\mathcal{B}$ in all regions. While for parallel case, the drag force increases monotonously with increasing $\mathcal{B}$ and also reveals a linear behavior in the regions of strong $\mathcal{B}$. The imaginary part of the inter-quarks potential of moving heavy quarkonia is investigated in a dual supergravity of the AdS background deformed by dilaton, which induces the gauge field condensate in the dual gauge theory. We analyze the quark anti-quark pair moving transverse and parallel to the plasma wind, respectively. It is shown that for both cases the presence of D-instanton density tends to increase the inter-distance and decrease the imaginary potential, reverse to the effect of the pair's velocity. In this paper, we study the destruction of heavy quarkonium due to the entropic force in a deformed $AdS_5$ model. The effects of the deformation parameter on the inter-distance and the entropic force are investigated. The influence of the deformation parameter on the quarkonium dissociation is analyzed. It is shown that the inter-distance increases in the presence of the deformation parameter. In addition, the deformation parameter has the effect of decreasing the entropic force. Imaginary potential and entropic force represent different mechanisms for melting the heavy quarkonium. In this paper, we study the chemical potential effect on these two quantities with respect to a moving quarkonium from the AdS/CTF duality. We observe that for both mechanisms the chemical potential has the same effect: the presence of the chemical potential tends to decrease the dissociation length.

Using the AdS/CFT duality, we study the destruction of a rotating heavy quarkonium due to the entropice force in $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory and a confining YM theory. It is shown that in both theories increasing the angular velocity leads to decreasing the entropic force. This result implies that the rotating quarkonium dissociates harder than the static case.

Using the AdS/CFT correspondence, we study the heavy quark potential and the jet quenching parameter in the near horizon limit of D3-D(-1) background. In this paper, we investigate the behavior of the heavy quark potential in the backgrounds with hyperscaling violation. The metrics are covariant under a generalized Lifshitz scaling symmetry with the dynamical Lifshitz parameter $z$ and hyperscaling violation exponent $\theta$. We calculate the potential for a certain range of $z$ and $\theta$ and discuss how it changes in the presence of the two parameters. In this paper, we investigate the heavy quark potential in some holographic QCD models. The calculation relies on a modified renormalization scheme mentioned in a previous work of Albacete et al. After studying the heavy quark potential in Pirner-Galow model and Andreev-Zakharov model, we extend the discussion to a general deformed $AdS_5$ case. We derive the quadratic action of the fluctuations around the classical world sheet underlying the jet quenching from AdS/CFT. After obtaining the correspondence partition function, the expansion of the jet quenching parameter of $\mathcal N=4$ super symmetric Yang-Mills theory is carried out to the sub-leading term in the large 't Hooft coupling $\lambda$ at a nonzero temperature. The strong coupling corresponds to the semi-classical expansion of the string-sigma model, the gravity dual of the Wilson loop operator, with the sub-leading term expressed in terms of functional determinants of fluctuations.
