Abstract

ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to study the association of perioperative administration of renin angiotensin system inhibitors (RASi) and clinical outcomes of patients with heart failure (HF) undergoing cardiac surgery.Summary background dataIt is controversial whether the perioperative RASi should be administered in HF patients undergoing cardiac surgery.MethodsA total of 2338 patients with HF and undergoing CABG and/or valve surgeries at multiple hospitals from 2001 to 2015 were identified from STS database. After adjustment using propensity score and instrumental variable, logistic regression was conducted to analyze the influence of preoperative continuation of RASi (PreRASi) on short-term in-hospital outcomes. Independent risk factors of 30-day mortality, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), and renal failure were analyzed by use of stepwise logistic regression. The effects of pre- and postoperative use of RASi (PostRASi) on long-term mortality were analyzed using survival analyses. Stepwise Cox regression was conducted to analyze the independent risk factors of 6-year mortality. The relationships of HF status and surgery type with perioperative RASi, as well as PreRASi-PostRASi, were also evaluated by subgroup analyses.ResultsPreRASi was associated with lower incidences of 30-day mortality [ P < 0.0001, odds ratio (OR): 0.556, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.405-0.763], stroke ( P =0.035, OR: 0.585, 95% CI: 0.355-0.962), renal failure ( P =0.007, OR: 0.663, 95% CI: 0.493-0.894). Both PreRASi ( P =0.0137) and PostRASi ( P =0.007) reduced 6-year mortality compared with the No-RASi groups.ConclusionsPre- and postoperative use of RASi was associated with better outcomes for the patients who have HF and undergo CABG and/or valve surgeries. Preoperative continuation and postoperative restoration are warranted in these patients.

Abstract

Objective: This study focused on improving comprehensive utilization rate of ziziphi spinosae semen resources. Methods: With the ultrasonic power, ultrasonic time, solid-liquid ratio, ethanol volume fraction and ultrasonic temperature as the influencing factors, and the extraction rate of isovitexin-glucopyranoside in ziziphi spinosae semen as the index, the extraction process parameters of isovitexin-glucopyranoside were optimized by response surface methodology. Results: The optimal extraction conditions of isovitexin-glucopyranoside were ultrasonic power 405 W, ultrasonic time 60 min, solid-liquid ratio 1∶16 （g/mL） and ethanol volume fraction 75%. Under the control of these conditions, the extraction rate of isovitexin-glucopyranoside was 0.705%, which was close to the predicted value （0.719%）, indicating that the predicted value of the extraction rate of isovitexin-glucopyranoside fit well with the actual situation. Conclusion: The ultrasonic assisted extraction of isovitexin-glucopyranoside is stable and reliable with high extraction rate.

15. The Contribution of Working Memory to L2 French Pronunciation among Adult Language Learners

Abstract

The role played by working memory (WM), that is, the capacity to temporarily maintain and cognitively process information, has been extensively studied in second language (L2) research. In a general sense, WM has been shown to be related to various aspects of L2 learning and use; however, little information is available regarding its relationship with L2 pronunciation. This study examines the relationship between the results obtained at a complex numerical WM task and the results from two French L2 pronunciation tasks, namely a reading-aloud task and a picture-based narration task, among 30 Mandarin-speaking adult learners. Results reveal that despite the absence of significant difference between the scores obtained from each pronunciation task, WM explained pronunciation observed in the reading-aloud task only.

Abstract

Using a multi-conduction-channel model, we redefined the micromechanism of spin Hall magnetoresistance (SMR). Four conduction channels are created by spin accumulation of nonpolarized electron flow at top, bottom, left and right interfaces of the film sample, which corresponds to different resistance states of polarized electron flow with various spin directions relative to the applied magnetic field ($\mathbf{H}$), and brings about the SMR effect finally. The magnetic insulator layer, such as yttrium iron garnet (YIG), is not a requisite for the observation of SMR. Instead, the SMR effect is perfectly realized, with an order of magnitude increase, in the sample with a discontinuous layer of isolated-Co$_2$FeAl (0.3 nm) grains covered by 2.5-nm-thick Pt layer on MgO substrate. The model intuitively gives the typical relationship of SMR effect, i.e. $\rho_{\parallel}\approx\rho_{\bot}>\rho_{T}$, where $\rho_{\bot}$, $\rho_{\parallel}$ and $\rho_{T}$ are longitudinal reisitivities with applied magnetic field ($\mathbf{H}$) direction perpendicular to the current direction out of plane (as Z direction), parallel with and perpendicular to it in plane (as X and Y direction), respectively. Our research reveals that the scattering between polarized and nonpolarized conduction electrons is the origin of SMR, and the intrinsic SMR is not constant when $\mathbf{H}$ direction rotates in XZ plane, which is distinct from that in the reported SMR mechanism., Comment: 5 pages and 4 figures

Abstract

Proximity effect of spin orbit coupling is investigated through anomalous Hall effect in Pt/Co2FeAl and Pt/Permalloy bilayers. A series of nontrivial magnetotransport behaviors, resulting from a strong impact of phonons on skew scattering, is observed in these films with ultrathin ferromagnetic layers. The parameters representing skew scattering, side jump and intrinsic contributions are dramatically enhanced when the ferromagnetic layer is very thin, and they have clear linear dependences on the reciprocal of ferromagnetic layer thickness, indicating a powerful influence of Pt/Ferromagnet interface. Further study on Cu/Co2FeAl and Ta/Co2FeAl bilayers reveals that a simple interface scattering without intense spin orbit coupling is not sufficient to trigger such a phenomenon. The proximity effect of spin orbit coupling is thus suggested to occur at the Pt/Ferromagnet interface, and as a result quite large anomalous Hall angle (0.036) and Nernst angle (0.23) are confirmed in the Pt/CFA films at room temperature.

Abstract

This book presents the advancements and applications of neutrosophics. Chapter 1 first introduces the interval neutrosophic sets which is an instance of neutrosophic sets. In this chapter, the definition of interval neutrosophic sets and set-theoretic operators are given and various properties of interval neutrosophic set are proved. Chapter 2 defines the interval neutrosophic logic based on interval neutrosophic sets including the syntax and semantics of first order interval neutrosophic propositional logic and first order interval neutrosophic predicate logic. The interval neutrosophic logic can reason and model fuzzy, incomplete and inconsistent information. In this chapter, we also design an interval neutrosophic inference system based on first order interval neutrosophic predicate logic. The interval neutrosophic inference system can be applied to decision making. Chapter 3 gives one application of interval neutrosophic sets and logic in the field of relational databases. Neutrosophic data model is the generalization of fuzzy data model and paraconsistent data model. Here, we generalize various set-theoretic and relation-theoretic operations of fuzzy data model to neutrosophic data model. Chapter 4 gives another application of interval neutrosophic logic. A soft semantic Web Services agent framework is proposed to faciliate the registration and discovery of high quality semantic Web Services agent.
