Lagopsis supina (Xia Zhi Cao) is a widely distributed and cultivated herbal plant that has been extensively used as a traditional Chinese medicine, Tibetan medicine and Mongolian medicine for disease treatments for centuries. While the bioactive compounds of L. supina are extensively studied, the fungal pathogens of this plant are still obscure. In 2021, powdery mildew signs and symptoms were observed on leaves of L. supina in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, China. However, the causal pathogen had not been identified. Therefore, morphological characteristics and molecular analysis was applied to identify the powdery mildew pathogen. The sequence of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the fungus was obtained and showed 99.83% identity with the previously reported Neoerysiphe galeopsidis. The virulence of this phytopathogen on L. supina was confirmed by utilizing Koch's postulates. Therefore, we identified the causal pathogen as N. galeopsidis. Based on biological and molecular characterization, this is the first comprehensive report of powdery mildew caused by N. galeopsidis on L. supina in central China. The occurrence of powdery mildew disease on L. supina may detract from the plant's medical and ornamental value. The identification and confirmation of N. galeopsidis on L. supina expands the knowledge of this causal agent and will support efforts towards future control and management of powdery mildews. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the most agriculturally and economically important crops in the world. Wheat fungal diseases are becoming more severe and frequent due to global climate change, threatening wheat yields and security. While fungal diseases such as fusarium head blight, stripe rust, and powdery mildew have been extensively studied, the newly emerged fungal pathogens in wheat are still under-researched. In May 2023, black mold symptoms were observed on wheat spikes in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, China. However, the causal agent of this disease was not known. We employed a combination of morphological examination and molecular techniques to identify the pathogen. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, translation elongation factor 1-alpha (tef1), and actin (act) genes of the fungus were partially sequenced (accession no. OR186209, PQ271633 and PQ271632) and showed 99.59–100% identity with the previously reported Cladosporium cladosporioides, which affects wheat, pokeweed, and black-eyed pea. The pathogenicity of this fungus was confirmed by fulfilling Koch's postulates. Through a rigorous screening process, we found Simplicillium aogashimaense, Trichothecium roseum, and Bacillus velezensis as effective biocontrol agents, with B. velezensis demonstrating the most potent antagonistic activity against the Cladosporium mold. This discovery showed the potential of B. velezensis as a biocontrol agent for wheat disease management. Bi2Te3-based alloys are only commercial thermoelectric materials. While, currently, n-type Bi2Te 2. 7 Se 0. 3 -based alloys commonly have lower ZT values than those of p-type Bi 0. 5 Sb 1. 5 Te3 based alloys. In this paper, the influence of different amounts of dispersing honey on the thermoelectric performance of n-type Bi2Te 2. 7 Se 0. 3 alloys synthesized by the hydrothermal and hot-pressing methods was investigated. The carbon atoms contained in honey could increase lattice defects and grain boundary density effectively, and improved the Seebeck coefficient and suppress lattice thermal conductivity simultaneously. By adjusting the amount of honey, the maximum ZT value reached 0.82 at 423 K, which was approximately 65% higher than that of the pristine Bi2Te2.7Se0.3. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Haploid embryonic stem cells (ESCs), with pluripotency and haploidy, hold significant value in the fields of developmental biology and reproductive technology. Here, the resources of haploid ESC line (hMMES1) from marine medaka, an emerging fish model for marine biology, were derived to address this need. The hMMES1 line was characterized with haploidy, pluripotency, transplantation ability, high edit effectivity, and viral susceptibility, marking a pioneering advancement as the next fish haploid ESCs after the Japanese medaka and, distinctively, as the first haploid ESCs within marine fish species. Haploid embryonic stem cells (ESCs), which combine the properties of haploidy and pluripotency, hold significant potential for advancing developmental biology and reproductive technology. However, while previous research has largely focused on haploid ESCs in freshwater species like Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes), little is known about their counterparts in marine species. This study hypothesizes that haploid ESCs from marine fish could offer unique insights and tools for genetic and virological research. To address this, we successfully established and characterized a novel haploid ESC line, hMMES1, derived from marine medaka (Oryzias melastigma). The hMMES1 cells contain 24 chromosomes, exhibit core stem cell characteristics, and express key pluripotency markers. In vitro, hMMES1 cells form embryonic bodies (EBs) capable of differentiating into the three germ layers. In vivo, hMMES1 cells were successfully transplanted into marine medaka and zebrafish, resulting in the generation of interspecies and interordinal chimeras. Additionally, hMMES1 cells demonstrate high efficiency in transfection and transduction, and show susceptibility to major aquaculture viruses, nodavirus (NNV) and iridovirus (SGIV). Radio stations are seriously affected by transmission line reradiation interference, but most of the existing methods for analyzing and solving reradiation interference on transmission lines focus on approximating the physical problem through mathematical models and algorithms, and it is difficult to study the correlation between transmission lines and reradiation interference in depth. This paper introduces the characteristic mode theory to study the influence factors of reradiation interference on transmission lines, which can decompose the surface induced current of transmission lines into a series of mutually orthogonal mode currents. This paper verifies the correctness of applying the MS (mode significance) value of the characteristic mode theory to analyze the reradiation interference through a simple transmission line example. Taking a line with 5 towers as an example, by analyzing the characteristic mode currents of transmission lines with different forwarding angles and linear arrangements, we not only verified that the characteristic mode currents can well characterize the reradiation interference, but also verified that the characteristic currents of different modes have a direct connection with the structure of the line, which can be applied in the process of designing or reconstructing the towers of the transmission lines, to predict the influence of different structural parameters on electromagnetic scattering, so as to optimize the tower design to reduce the reradiation interference effects and thus optimize the tower design to reduce reradiation interference. © 2024 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.
