Background: It is unknown whether and how poverty influences the long-term outcome of persons with severe mental illness (SMI). Aims: To explore the change of poverty status in persons with SMI from 1994 to 2015 and examine the impact of poverty status on patients' outcome in rural China. Method: Two mental health surveys using identical methods and International Classification of Disease (ICD-10) were conducted in 1994 and 2015 in the same six townships of Xinjin County, Chengdu, China. Results: The annual net income per person was 19.8% and 100.2% higher for the general population than for persons with SMI in 1994 and 2015 respectively. BackgroundWith the rapid development of information technology and web-based communities, a growing number of patients choose to consult physicians in online health communities (OHCs) for information and treatment. Although extant research has primarily discussed factors that influence the consulting choices of OHC patients, there is still a lack of research on the effects of log-in behaviors and web reviews on patient consultation. ObjectiveThis study aims to explore the impact of physicians’ log-in behavior and web reviews on patient consultation. MethodsWe conducted a longitudinal study to examine the effects of physicians’ log-in behaviors and web reviews on patient consultation by analyzing short-panel data from 911 physicians over five periods in a Chinese OHC. ResultsThe results showed that the physician’s log-in behavior had a positive effect on patient consultation. The maximum number of days with no log-ins for a physician should be 20. The two web signals (log-in behavior and web reviews) had no complementary relationship. Moreover, the offline signal (ie, offline status) has different moderating effects on the two web signals, positively moderating the relationship between web reviews and patient consultation. ConclusionsOur study contributes to the eHealth literature and advances the understanding of physicians’ web-based behaviors. This study also provides practical implications, showing that physicians’ log-in behavior alone can affect patient consultation rather than complementing web reviews.

BackgroundWith the dramatic development of Web 2.0, increasing numbers of patients and physicians are actively involved in online health communities. Despite extensive research on online health communities, the conversion rate from visitor to customer and its driving factors have not been discussed. ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to analyze the conversion rate of online health communities and to explore the effects of multisource online health community information, including physician-generated information, patient-generated information, and system-generated information. MethodsAn empirical study was conducted to examine the effects of physician-generated, patient-generated, and system-generated information on the conversion rate of physicians’ personal websites by analyzing short panel data from 2112 physicians over five time periods in a Chinese online health community. ResultsMultisource online health community information (ie, physician-generated, patient-generated, and system-generated information) positively affected the conversion rate. Physician-generated and patient-generated information showed a substitute relationship rather than a complementary relationship. In addition, the usage time of a personal website positively moderated patient-generated information, but negatively moderated physician-generated information. ConclusionsThis study contributes to the electronic health literature by investigating the conversion rate of online health communities and the effect of multisource online health community information. This study also contributes to understanding the drivers of conversion rate on service websites, which can help to successfully improve the efficiency of online health communities.

Objective: To determine the expression of microRNA-152 induced by progesterone and its effect on the proliferation of endometrial epithelial cells (EECs)., Methods: Cultured EECs, Ishikawa were divided into four groups: control group (C group), 10(-8) mol/L estrogen treated group (E group), 10(-6) mol/L progesterone group (P group) and estrogen plus progesterone treated group (E&P group). The expression of mature microRNA-152 (microRNA-152-3p) of was detected by qRT-PCR. The estrogen treated cells were transfected with mimic-microRNA-152-3p. The estrogen and progesterone treated cells were transfected with inhibitor-microRNA-152-3p. Cell proliferations were detected by CCK-8 assay. The target gene of microRNA-152-3p proteins was predicted using microRNA target databases and validated by Western blot., Results: qRT-PCR showed no difference between C and E groups (P > 0.05) in the expression of microRNA-152-3p. P group had higher expressions of microRNA-152-3p than C group (P < 0.05). E&P group had higher expressions of microRNA-152-3p than C group and P group. MicroRNA target protein prediction suggested that CDC14A is one of direct target proteins of microRNA-152-3p. The results of CCK-8 assay showed that mimic-microRNA-152-3p transfection blocked proliferations of estrogen treated cells and lowered expressions of CDC14A in these cells; while inhibitor-microRNA-152-3p promotes proliferations of estrogen and progesterone treated cells and increased expressions of CDC14A in these cells., Conclusion: Progesterone may suppress proliferations of EECs through inducing expressions of microRNA-152-3p. CDC14A is probably one target protein of microRNA-152-3p for its action on EECs.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression status of Dual-Specificity Phosphatase 5 Pseudogene 1 (DUSP5P1) and its clinical relevance in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Real-time quantitative PCR (RQ-PCR) was performed to detect the status of DUSP5P1 expression in 89 patients with de novo AML and 24 normal controls. The level of DUSP5P1 expression was significantly up-regulated in AML compared to controls (P=0.031). The patients with high expression of DUSP5P1 had higher percentage of blasts in bone marrow (BM) than those without high expression (P=0.027). The occurrence rate of DUSP5P1 high expression was significantly higher in M1 (2/8, 25%) and M2 subtypes (9/33, 27%) than in M3 subtype (0/17, 0%) (P=0.034). At the same time, the frequency of DUSP5P1 high expression in patients with intermediate (13/53, 24%) and poor karyotypes (5/11, 45%) was significantly higher than that in patients with favorable karyotype (0/21, 0%) (P=0.003). Meanwhile, DUSP5P1 high-expressed patients had significantly shorter overall survival (OS) than those with low expression (median 4.5 vs. 10.5 months, respectively, P=0.038). Our findings indicated that high expression of DUSP5P1 may identify high-risk AML patients and is associated with poor prognosis in AML.

Background: Dysregulation of miR-675 has been found in a variety of solid tumors. MiR-675 has been suggested as having both oncogenic and tumor suppression properties in cancer. However, there is no evidence whether miR-675 is involved in breast cancer. The objective of this study was to evaluate the expression status of miR-675 and its clinical relevance in breast cancer patients., Methods: The expression level of miR-675 was detected in 100 breast cancer patients and 38 cancer-free controls using real-time quantitative PCR. The clinicopathological characteristics of miR-675 in breast cancer were also investigated. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 20.0., Results: The study showed that miR-675 was significantly up-regulated in breast cancer patients compared with controls (P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in age, lymph nodes stage, ER status and PR status between patients with and without miR-675 over-expression (P > 0.05). The frequency of miR-675 over-expression was higher in the patients of histological grade I-II than in others (50% versus 9%, P = 0.011). The expression level of miR-675 had a high correlation with miR-24/93/98/378 in breast cancer patients., Conclusions: Taken together, our study demonstrated that miR-675 in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues might serve as a good source for biomarker discovery and breast cancer validation.
