19. High‐intensity interval training improves hypothalamic inflammation by suppressing HIF‐1α signaling in microglia of male C57BL/6J mice.

Abstract

Repeated bouts of high‐intensity interval training (HIIT) induce an improvement in metabolism via plasticity of melanocortin circuits and attenuated hypothalamic inflammation. HIF‐1α, which plays a vital role in hypothalamus‐mediated regulation of peripheral metabolism, is enhanced in the hypothalamus by HIIT. This study aimed to investigate the effects of HIIT on hypothalamic HIF‐1α expression and peripheral metabolism in obese mice and the underlying molecular mechanisms. By using a high‐fat diet (HFD)‐induced obesity mouse model, we determined the effect of HIIT on energy balance and the expression of the hypothalamic appetite‐regulating neuropeptides, POMC and NPY. Moreover, hypothalamic HIF‐1α signaling and its downstream glycolytic enzymes were explored after HIIT intervention. The state of microglia and microglial NF‐κB signaling in the hypothalamus were also examined in vivo. In vitro by using an adenovirus carrying shRNA‐HIF1β, we explored the impact of HIF‐1 signaling on glycolysis and NF‐κB inflammatory signaling in BV2 cells. Food intake was suppressed and whole‐body metabolism was improved in exercised DIO mice, accompanied by changes in the expression of POMC and NPY. Moreover, total and microglial HIF‐1α signaling were obviously attenuated in the hypothalamus, consistent with the decreased levels of glycolytic enzymes. Both HFD‐induced microglial activation and hypothalamic NF‐κB signaling were significantly suppressed following HIIT in vivo. In BV2 cells, after HIF‐1 complex knockdown, glycolysis and NF‐κB inflammatory signaling were significantly attenuated. The data indicate that HIIT improves peripheral metabolism probably via attenuated HFD‐induced microglial activation and microglial NF‐κB signaling in the hypothalamus, which could be mediated by suppressed microglial HIF‐1α signaling. Abstract

We use commutator techniques and calculations in solvable Lie groups to investigate certain evolution Partial Differential Equations (PDEs for short) that arise in the study of stochastic volatility models for pricing contingent claims on risky assets. In particular, by restricting to domains of bounded volatility, we establish the existence of the semi-groups generated by the spatial part of the operators in these models, concentrating on those arising in the so-called "SABR stochastic volatility model with mean reversion." The main goal of this work is to approximate the solutions of the Cauchy problem for the SABR PDE with mean reversion, a parabolic problem the generator of which is denoted by $L$. The fundamental solution for this problem is not known in closed form. We obtain an approximate solution by performing an expansion in the so-called volvol or volatility of the volatility, which leads us to study a degenerate elliptic operator $L_0$, corresponding the the zero-volvol case of the SABR model with mean reversion, to which the classical results do not apply. However, using Lie algebra techniques we are able to derive an exact formula for the solution operator of the PDE $\partial_t u - L_0 u = 0$. We then compare the semi-group generated by $L$--the existence of which does follows from standard arguments--to that generated by $L_0$, thus establishing a perturbation result that is useful for numerical methods for the SABR PDE with mean reversion. In the process, we are led to study semigroups arising from both a strongly parabolic and a hyperbolic problem.

32. Comparative studies on physicochemical properties of three potato varieties different in RS2 and RS3 contents.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: At present, increasing importance has been attracted to healthy food enriched in resistant starch (RS), which has great benefits in health‐promoting. Raw potato has rich RS2, whereas most RS2 may become digestible after gelatinization, resulting in few RS being left in processed potato. Breeding potatoes with high RS2 or RS3 or both can meet the demand for various healthy potato products. RESULTS: There were apparent discrepancies among three potatoes with contrast RS2 and RS3 content in thermal properties, viscosity and digestibility. ZS‐5 had the highest RS2 with 50.17% but the lowest RS3 with 3.31%. Meanwhile, ZS‐5 had the largest starch granule, the highest proportion of B3, viscosity and hardness, and the highest digestibility. DN303 with the highest content of RS3 (5.08%) had the lowest hardness and fracturability. MG56‐42 with both higher RS2 and RS3 content showed the highest resistance to digestion and moderate hardness and fracturability. CONCLUSION: The present study enriches the potential resources and provides a reliable scientific basis for high RS potatoes breeding.
