We say that a graph $G$ on $n$ vertices is $\{H,F\}$-$o$-heavy if every induced subgraph of $G$ isomorphic to $H$ or $F$ contains two nonadjacent vertices with degree sum at least $n$. Generalizing earlier sufficient forbidden subgraph conditions for hamiltonicity, in 2012, Li, Ryj\'a\v{c}ek, Wang and Zhang determined all connected graphs $R$ and $S$ of order at least 3 other than $P_3$ such that every 2-connected $\{R,S\}$-$o$-heavy graph is hamiltonian. In particular, they showed that, up to symmetry, $R$ must be a claw and $S\in\{P_4,P_5,C_3,Z_1,Z_2,B,N,W\}$. In 2008, \v{C}ada extended Ryj\'a\v{c}ek's closure concept for claw-free graphs by introducing what we call the $c$-closure for claw-$o$-heavy graphs. We apply it here to characterize the structure of the $c$-closure of 2-connected $\{R,S\}$-$o$-heavy graphs, where $R$ and $S$ are as above. Our main results extend or generalize several earlier results on hamiltonicity involving forbidden or $o$-heavy subgraphs.

An edge-colored graph $G$ is called properly colored if every two adjacent edges are assigned different colors. A monochromatic triangle is a cycle of length 3 with all the edges having the same color. Given a tree $T_0$, let $\mathcal{T}(n,T_0)$ be the collection of $n$-vertex trees that are subdivisions of $T_0$. It is conjectured that for each fixed tree $T_0$, there is a function $f(T_0)$ such that for each integer $n\geq f(T_0)$ and each $T\in \mathcal{T}(n,T_0)$, every edge-colored complete graph $K_n$ without containing monochromatic triangle must contain a properly colored copy of $T$. We confirm the conjecture in the case that $T_0$ is a star. A weaker version of the above conjecture is also obtained. Moreover, to get a nice quantitative estimation of $f(T_0)$ when $T_0$ is a star requires determining the constraint Ramsey number of a monochromatic triangle and a rainbow star, which is of independent interest., Comment: 15 pages

This paper presents the following research findings on Boolean networks (BNs) and their dual subspaces.First, we establish a bijection between the dual subspaces of a BN and the partitions of its state set. Furthermore, we demonstrate that a dual subspace is $M$-invariant if and only if the associated partition is equitable (i.e., for every two cells of the partition, every two states in the former have the same number of out-neighbors in the latter) for the BN's state-transition graph (STG). Here $M$ represents the structure matrix of the BN.Based on the equitable graphic representation, we provide, for the first time, a complete structural characterization of the smallest $M$-invariant dual subspaces generated by a set of Boolean functions. Given a set of output functions, we prove that a BN is observable if and only if the partition corresponding to the smallest $M$-invariant dual subspace generated by this set of functions is trivial (i.e., all partition cells are singletons). Building upon our structural characterization, we also present a method for constructing output functions that render the BN observable.

An edge-colored graph is called rainbow if all the colors on its edges are distinct. Given a positive integer n and a graph G, the anti-Ramsey number ar(n,G) is the maximum number of colors in an edge-coloring of K_{n} with no rainbow copy of G. Denote by kC_{3} the union of k vertex-disjoint copies of C_{3}. In this paper, we determine the anti-Ramsey number ar(n,kC_{3}) for n=3k and n\geq2k^{2}-k+2, respectively. When 3k\leq n\leq 2k^{2}-k+2, we give lower and upper bounds for ar(n, kC_{3}).

Let $G$ be an edge-colored graph on $n$ vertices. The minimum color degree of $G$, denoted by $\delta^c(G)$, is defined as the minimum number of colors assigned to the edges incident to a vertex in $G$. In 2013, H. Li proved that an edge-colored graph $G$ on $n$ vertices contains a rainbow triangle if $\delta^c(G)\geq \frac{n+1}{2}$. In this paper, we obtain several estimates on the number of rainbow triangles through one given vertex in $G$. As consequences, we prove counting results for rainbow triangles in edge-colored graphs. One main theorem states that the number of rainbow triangles in $G$ is at least $\frac{1}{6}\delta^c(G)(2\delta^c(G)-n)n$, which is best possible by considering the rainbow $k$-partite Tur\'an graph, where its order is divisible by $k$. This means that there are $\Omega(n^2)$ rainbow triangles in $G$ if $\delta^c(G)\geq \frac{n+1}{2}$, and $\Omega(n^3)$ rainbow triangles in $G$ if $\delta^c(G)\geq cn$ when $c>\frac{1}{2}$. Both results are tight in sense of the order of the magnitude. We also prove a counting version of a previous theorem on rainbow triangles under a color neighborhood union condition due to Broersma et al., and an asymptotically tight color degree condition forcing a colored friendship subgraph $F_k$ (i.e., $k$ rainbow triangles sharing a common vertex)., Comment: 16 pages

The degree-based entropy of a graph is defined as the Shannon entropy based on the information functional that associates the vertices of the graph with the corresponding degrees. In this paper, we study extremal problems of finding the graphs attaining the minimum degree-based graph entropy among graphs and bipartite graphs with a given number of vertices and edges. We characterize the unique extremal graph achieving the minimum value among graphs with a given number of vertices and edges and present a lower bound for the degree-based entropy of bipartite graphs and characterize all the extremal graphs which achieve the lower bound. This implies the known result due to Cao et al. (2014) that the star attains the minimum value of the degree-based entropy among trees with a given number of vertices.

Perfect state transfer in graphs is a concept arising from quantum physics and quantum computing. Given a graph $G$ with adjacency matrix $A_G$, the transition matrix of $G$ with respect to $A_G$ is defined as $H_{A_{G}}(t) = \exp(-\mathrm{i}tA_{G})$, $t \in \mathbb{R},\ \mathrm{i}=\sqrt{-1}$. We say that perfect state transfer from vertex $u$ to vertex $v$ occurs in $G$ at time $\tau$ if $u \ne v$ and the modulus of the $(u,v)$-entry of $H_{A_G}(\tau)$ is equal to $1$. If the moduli of all diagonal entries of $H_{A_G}(\tau)$ are equal to $1$ for some $\tau$, then $G$ is called periodic with period $\tau$. When many colors appear in edge-colored graphs, it is only natural to expect rainbow subgraphs to appear. This anti-Ramsey problem has been studied thoroughly and yet there remain many gaps in the literature. Given simple graphs $H_{1},H_{2},\ldots,H_{c}$, the Ramsey number $r(H_{1},H_{2},\ldots,H_{c})$ is the smallest positive integer $n$ such that every edge-colored $K_{n}$ with $c$ colors contains a subgraph in color $i$ isomorphic to $H_{i}$ for some $i\in\{1,2,\ldots,c\}$. The critical graphs for $r(H_1,H_2,\ldots,H_c)$ are edge-colored complete graphs on $r(H_1,H_2,\ldots,H_c)-1$ vertices with $c$ colors which contain no subgraphs in color $i$ isomorphic to $H_{i}$ for any $i\in \{1,2,\ldots,c\}$. For $n_1\geq n_2\geq \ldots\geq n_c\geq 1$, Cockayne and Lorimer (The Ramsey number for stripes, {\it J.\ Austral.\ Math.\ Soc.} \textbf{19} (1975), 252--256.) showed that $r(n_{1}K_{2},n_{2}K_{2},\ldots,n_{c}K_{2})=n_{1}+1+ \sum\limits_{i=1}^c(n_{i}-1)$, in which $n_{i}K_{2}$ is a matching of size $n_{i}$. Using the Gallai-Edmonds Theorem, we characterized all the critical graphs for $r(n_{1}K_{2},n_{2}K_{2},\ldots,n_{c}K_{2})$, implying a new proof for this Ramsey number.

Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a family of subsets of $[n]=\{1,\ldots,n\}$ and let $L$ be a set of nonnegative integers. The family $\mathcal{F}$ is \emph{$L$-intersecting} if $|F\cap F'|\in L$ for every two distinct members $F,F'\in\mathcal{F}$; and $\mathcal{F}$ is $k$-uniform if all its members have the same size $k$. A large variety of problems and results in extremal set theory concern on $k$-uniform $L$-intersecting families. Many attentions are paid to finding the maximum size of a family among all $k$-uniform $L$-intersecting families with prescribed $n,k$ and $L$. In this paper, from another point of view, we propose and investigate the problem of estimating the maximum size of a member in a family among all uniform $L$-intersecting families with size $m$, here $n,m$ and $L$ are prescribed. Let $D$ be an arc-colored digraph. The arc number $a(D)$ of $D$ is defined as the number of arcs of $D$. The color number $c(D)$ of $D$ is defined as the number of colors assigned to the arcs of $D$. A rainbow triangle in $D$ is a directed triangle in which every pair of arcs have distinct colors. Let $f(D)$ be the smallest integer such that if $c(D)\geq f(D)$, then $D$ contains a rainbow triangle. In this paper we obtain $f(\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n})$ and $f(T_n)$, where $\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n}$ is a complete digraph of order $n$ and $T_n$ is a strongly connected tournament of order $n$. Moreover we characterize the arc-colored complete digraph $\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n}$ with $c(\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n})=f(\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n})-1$ and containing no rainbow triangles. We also prove that an arc-colored digraph $D$ on $n$ vertices contains a rainbow triangle when $a(D)+c(D)\geq a(\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n})+f(\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n})$, which is a directed extension of the undirected case.

Let $T_{n}$ be an arc-colored tournament of order $n$. The maximum monochromatic indegree $\Delta^{-mon}(T_{n})$ (resp. outdegree $\Delta^{+mon}(T_{n})$) of $T_{n}$ is the maximum number of in-arcs (resp. out-arcs) of a same color incident to a vertex of $T_{n}$. The irregularity $i(T_{n})$ of $T_{n}$ is the maximum difference between the indegree and outdegree of a vertex of $T_{n}$. A subdigraph $H$ of an arc-colored digraph $D$ is called rainbow if each pair of arcs in $H$ have distinct colors. In this paper, we show that each vertex $v$ in an arc-colored tournament $T_{n}$ with $\Delta^{-mon}(T_n)\leq\Delta^{+mon}(T_n)$ is contained in at least $\frac{\delta(v)(n-\delta(v)-i(T_n))}{2}-[\Delta^{-mon}(T_{n})(n-1)+\Delta^{+mon}(T_{n})d^+(v)]$ rainbow triangles, where $\delta(v)=\min\{d^+(v), d^-(v)\}$. We also give some maximum monochromatic degree conditions for $T_{n}$ to contain rainbow triangles, and to contain rainbow triangles passing through a given vertex. Finally, we present some examples showing that some of the conditions in our results are best possible. For an arc-colored digraph $D$, define its {\em kernel by rainbow paths} to be a set $S$ of vertices such that (i) no two vertices of $S$ are connected by a rainbow path in $D$, and (ii) every vertex outside $S$ can reach $S$ by a rainbow path in $D$. In this paper, we show that it is NP-complete to decide whether an arc-colored tournament has a kernel by rainbow paths, where a {\em tournament} is an orientation of a complete graph. In addition, we show that every arc-colored $n$-vertex tournament with all its strongly connected $k$-vertex subtournaments, $3\leq k\leq n$, colored with at least $k-1$ colors has a kernel by rainbow paths, and the number of colors required cannot be reduced.
